Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 21st grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 38th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

indigo I'm wearing my very best traumatised face!!! No, but I do have some perennial massage oil (that I'm not much less traumatised by), I wasn't cut with DD but I did tear a teeny bit...

Purplecircle · 13/02/2015 20:24

I've got major bloat on and look pregnant

Cake made, chocolate sponge filled and topped with chocolate ganache
He would share it but it's bad for my blood sugar and I have to keep it very low

willywallace · 13/02/2015 20:32

Yeah you're on your own with that one Indigo!

That's so funny Gaggia.

Sigh. Self-indulgent moan alert. I'd like to get off the breastfeeding train for 24 hours. Go to a hotel by myself and sleep and watch tv with a bottle of wine. Does that make me awful?

RPopz · 13/02/2015 20:34

I think there's some research that showed that perineal massage only makes a difference in first pregnancies/ births Boo! I'll try and find the link.

Indigo is it some kind of stretchy device....? I'd be concerned it would actually weaken the skin/ perineum over time. Waterbirths minimise tearing. And a good midwife - helping you to breathe baby out slowly. The baby's head sort of goes two steps forward one step back to help the perineum stretch iyswim.....

TheBooMonster · 13/02/2015 20:37

nooooo popz but my DH was so excited about helping me Blush he was walking round the house excitedly with the bottle and instructions last night, it's the closest he's got to nookie in weeks! What am I going to do with a whole bottle of the stuff if it's all for nothing?!

wil your boobs would hurt a lot... how goes the breastfeeding?

DulcetMoans · 13/02/2015 20:38

I left work at 7pm - FFS. What is wrong with people? Why do they always want something?!

Gaggia - could you still eat the garlic bread? This is important...

lil - is there a number for that sort of concern? I know our clinic had a 24hr phone line for those on IVF journey.

No valentines here - off for a girly lunch instead. He did prying home some mini eggs which he said is my gift. More than I got him!

Right, off to Google epic-no and count corner.

Indigoblue2 · 13/02/2015 20:45

Re the Epi-no, there are several studies referenced, I've only read two, one a proper study and the other more of a clinic testimonial by the midwives, stating their reduction in tears and episiotomies. Everything I've read so far supports the fact that it increases your chance of an "intact perineum". I know it sounds crazy, but it's effectively doing the same thing as the massage, stretching your perineum, but just with a gadget and not your hands!

Indigoblue2 · 13/02/2015 20:48

wil you're doing an awesome job feeding microwil, one of my BFFs is feeding her 6 week old at the moment as well and says its basically on demand constant neediness!

willywallace · 13/02/2015 20:56

So true Indigo, it would be nice to not be needed for a night. But then I look at her wee face and feel bad.

Ha Boo, very true, I would have watermelon tits. Although engorgement is not bad at all this time. I was always uncomfortable last time. Is that a thing for second babies does anyone know?

RPopz · 13/02/2015 21:08

Haha, well you've nothing to lose by letting him do it anyway Boo haha!

Purplecircle · 13/02/2015 21:30

Been googling antenatal tests and think I'm gonna go for a NIPTI or Harmony test. It's £430 but I can't bear the miscarriage risk of cvs or amnio offered on NHS

Anyone had it done? Or know anything about it?

I'm 40 nearly 41 and have had one MC already.

teejayem · 13/02/2015 21:36

I kno, I know, I'm juvenile, but I can't stop laughing at the video on the epi-no website which features a 'vulva puppet'. smirk

purple what are those tests? £430 seems a lot!

townsender · 13/02/2015 21:59

Hi folks!

I'm also having a bloated day, wondering how long my work clothes will last me.
Purple I'm booked in for a Harmony test - comes with 2 scans as well, hooray! I had one last time I was pg as I came up as 1 in 130 on the NHS screening, which was high enough to panic me, and luckily they gave me a leaflet on the Harmony test (which I had never heard of previously). I wouldn't have had amnio for that risk, but would have spent the next 25 weeks worrying...
Well worth £430 (it was £600 when I had it just over a year ago, so its already dropping in price).
I'm having it done at 10 weeks, so I should know before I tell people at 12 weeks. You can find out the sex of the baby too.

townsender · 13/02/2015 22:05

Harmony test is for the 3 most chromosome abnormalities (Downs, Edwards, and Patau syndromes) as well as for the sex chromosome abnormalities (eg XXY). They take a blood sample from mum and can isolate baby DNA to test from as early as 10 weeks. Its fairly new technology, so is not available on the NHS, but gives you a fairly black and white answer (either >99% positive or less than 1 in 10,000 positive). And most importantly, no risk to baby.

lildottie · 13/02/2015 22:06

I was trading about the amnio and CVS test the other day. the mc risks are less than 1% aren't they?

lildottie · 13/02/2015 22:06

trading=reading

DulcetMoans · 13/02/2015 22:10

It was about 1% I think lil but the harmony test is pretty much risk free as it is just a blood test. It's newish to UK, but been in US for a while.

If that price includes some private scans it might not be too bad but that is more expense than I thought it was.

Purplecircle · 13/02/2015 22:13

Up to 3% risk with cvs lil. I'm not prepared to take any risk of MC now I've got to 8 weeks.

Purplecircle · 13/02/2015 22:13

It's a blood test and a scan so no risk at all

deeplybaffled · 13/02/2015 22:23

Hi viroids. Probably a really naive question, and all those further on will roll your eyes and think "if only...." but do you get to a point where the tiredness starts to ebb and you can eat more than a third of a meal without feeling too full to eat ever again?
am just past 11 weeks and wondering if i will ever want to finish a meal again?

lildottie · 13/02/2015 22:30

but they do a blood test on NHS anyway?

Purplecircle · 13/02/2015 22:34

The NHS don't do the Harmony test. I imagine they will test your blood for sugar, thyroid, HIV and other things - I think I heard they do 5 tests so need 5 vials

The only way to test for downs, CF and Edwards etc without a miscarriage risk is a private Harmony test.

I fully support the NHS, they have been brilliant when I needed them the most this last 6 months but I'm not risking a miscarriage for the sake of £400 - to me it's like putting a price on my pregnancy or my baby

teejayem · 13/02/2015 22:35

deeply can only speak from my experience, but I started to feel better around 15 weeks, not as exhausted, able to stay up after 9pm, not feeling like I was falling asleep at my desk. I really struggled with the bone crushing tiredness early on but it does get better.
Same with the eating, although I hit 18 weeks and basically became the human dustbin. I went from Nibbly snacks and very small meals (admittedly of low nutritional value, I just had no interest in food) to now wanting to eat everything... I'm not allowed to go food shopping unsupervised!

No idea deeply, I'm 3 weeks behind you and starting to fill up more quickly!
