Ooh Brixton that sounds like it will be interesting. Maybe if you find it difficult he could ask to see a dietician to help? Hope it works for him anyway.

Sounds like you've had a busy day Lauren hope you're relaxing now.

Just had a bit of a mini breakdown Sad shouldn't read online about things (and I would be the first to tell anyone that!) but been reading about cholestasis and just hit me that my baby could be at risk. I know the risks are small and I'm doing all I can to reduce them with taking the medication etc, I just won't relax until baby is safely here. Cried into my pizza! Love my bump so much already!

daholster · 14/02/2015 23:27

Oh penguin Flowers try not to worry, just keep an eye on the wriggling. It must be very stressful.

Have the rubbishest back ache on my right in bed, its a muscle I think, just can't get comfy, and it makes me feel a bit sick at times. Dh is snoring like an elephant next to me, good grief!!!

Just had a spurt of baby stuff buying - got the piggyback board for the Uppababy Vista from a shop I've never heard of based in Portsmouth (Baby 2000...) but it was £20 cheaper than in JL. Hope that doesn't mean it is dodgy! They sell loads of prams etc and have a shop to visit so hoping its just a small company (with a fairly tacky website, it has to be said!)

Also got dd some bed socks since she constantly wakes up next to her quilt and sometimes wakes cos she is cold, with a new pair of boots fr0m Mothercare. Also got goddaughters birthday present (Little Bird clothes, some are so gorgeous!) and present for friend's son, and set of long sleeved plain tops for dd to ruin at nursery this spring! And very reduced canvas shoes for her (£2.50!) and little slippers reduced for ds (0-3months, will use as pram shoes). Then at mini club spent points on a coat for ds in the autumn, only 2 sizes left, burgundy and herringbone grey with fur lining for £8! Dh gets cross when I buy stuff for next season but if I like it I don't want to miss it, especially if it is cheap! I don't see the problem so long as I remember and don't buy it all over again come autumn time!

Lastly I bought some reusable breast pads from Bambooty. Bamboobies, I think they are called Grin. Used disposables by Lansinoh last time and hated them, the never stuck and kept moving and falling out, and I also found them itchy and sweaty. Eventually put up with leaking! So I hope this will be a good solution.

So now we are skint! Wink

Did "There's a house in Mummy's tummy" book tonight with dd. Afterwards when I asked her what was in my tummy she said "BABY BRUVVER!!!" Whether or not she is starting to link babies and her baby brother I'm not sure but we'll just keep talking about it. It was very cute though, whether she understood it really or not Smile

Right, will try and get comfy enough to sleep. Night night everyone!

Well for once it actually worked. DD went to bed late last night and woke up late too! Shock That so never happens I was in shock.

So excited for next week. My mum is coming round to help me with the loft so I can get all my baby things down and washed. It's quite sad that I'm so excited about this. Blush I just feel like I've been slacking with not getting anything ready yet apart from buying the odd bit of clothing.

kismac · 15/02/2015 08:33

Annia, midwife told us that you are only kept in for 6 hours after the birth. You get to stay longer if you are struggling but if there's no medical need then off you go.

Aww, Penguin. Try and not got upset. You've got the medication now and the doctors are keeping an eye on you. It'll all work out fine.

Going to buy the pram today. Dun dun dun. Then think that's us ready. Eek!

FiRaffe · 15/02/2015 09:34

We were told all the hospitals around here keep FTMs in for 24 hrs whatever. So interesting how it's different wherever you are!

Cisforcat · 15/02/2015 09:38

I have nothing ready really. I have a few packs of maternity pads and some formula, and 4 sleep suits ready but apart from that nudda.
I haven't even contemplated my hospital bag yet I'm 33+ 4 now.
Your all making me feel guilty !! Grin
As for the nursery- it isn't even being plastered til a week Monday and then needs painting, carpet fitting and cot needs picking up, building etc etc.

However as dd was forced out by every method possible at 15 days late, I think I have a while to go yet. ( although I really wish I didn't - I seem to be getting every ailment going , most recently v v v sore ribs?! )
Let's hope I'm tempting fate!!

TheBooMonster · 15/02/2015 09:42

My hospital lets you go after 6 hours if everything's ok. With DD we were expecting her to need a NICU crib and they were going to keep me in for as long as I wanted to and they could justify it, but she wasn't as teeny as they expected so that got cut down to 24 hours and I dragged another 12 out because I wasn't comfortable about leaving and insisted on them retesting my bloods because I couldn't stand unaided without feeling like I was going to faint. They were so desperate for us to leave that we left the ward without a car seat!

AnniaFausta · 15/02/2015 10:35

Cinnamon, I think MiL is remembering her own experiences with DH which took place at the end of the 1970s, where first-time mums were kept in for a week of 'lying in'. I don't think she's realised that things have changed a bit...

kismac, the handbook I've got from my midwifery practice says six hours is the usual minimum for a normal birth, provided you've done two feeds, with a follow-up visit from a ?midwife on the first day home. But I shall ask the GP on Monday just to double check, and then can solemnly inform my MiL that this is in fact what is going to happen to her first grandchild!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/02/2015 11:08

I had ds1 at 11.20am but didn't actually leave the delivery suite until 4pm as they had so many babies born that night they had nowhere to put us and ended up converting an antenatal bay to a postnatal bay, so moved mums to be around. I then stayed overnight and was woken at 7.30am to be asked if I wanted to go home and eventually dh discharged me at 8pm as a junior Dr checked ds1 and questioned jaundice and consultant was operating (was weekend so only one consultant on duty) in 2007. Ds2 was born at 5.30pm we left at 9.30pm but had to go back the next day for his check and hearing test and my antiD in 2010. My mum was similar to your mil AnniaFausta, with my brother she was in 2 weeks before too to try and turn him as he was breech.

daholster · 15/02/2015 12:29

Just ate half a jar of pickled onions. Literally!!! Confused

Had a terrible night's sleep, maybe waking hourly in pain. I'm exhausted and dh is working on his laptop for a deadline at 9am, and I'm annoyed with him. His work just take the piss!!! They gave him this piece of work on Friday morning. And I need sleep, dd is bored with the tv which is totally fair and I have no energy to play properly and am grumpy. I told dh I need a little cry as he went upstairs just because I am so exhausted. He said there is nothing he can do about it Sad I had a teeny cry while I was cleaning up dd's second spilt cup of apple juice of the day off the carpet! Then I cracked open the pickled onions...

I feel like I did at about 36 weeks last time. Sore, knackered and uncomfortable, I want to be off work now.

Wow I'm a pile of fun. But I really wish someone would just pick me up and carry me along...

31+5

FiRaffe · 15/02/2015 12:32

Aww daholster - I hope your day improves. Is there something easy you and dd enjoy doing together you could face doing? Making some easy cookies or drawing a picture... just something easy you can at least enjoy!

Hope the day gets better!

Wineandchoccy · 15/02/2015 12:46

daholster that sounds rubbish except for the pickled onions I love the stinky things!

DH wants to go for a walk but I can't be bothered and I am still sat in my dressing gown. I know I will feel better once I am out of the house but I just have no motivation today.

Beef casserole in the slow cooker so at least it's a easy tea tonight. I am slowly emptying the freezer so that I can start my batch cooking, I have bought loads of disposable tubs so no washing up required either.

daholster · 15/02/2015 12:51

Maybe I will look into some baking... Not sure there is room in all the mess though!!!Shock

Lauren82000 · 15/02/2015 13:18

Can't go wrong with chocolate crispy cakes. Simple and kids love messing with it.

FiRaffe · 15/02/2015 13:28

Ooh that's a good idea Lauren. My go to emergency visitors coming is the River Cottage 10 min cookies (probably take 20mins Inc cooking time) and are as easy as anything - don't know if the recipe is online though.

daholster · 15/02/2015 13:39

Thank you! I'd love to do crispy cakes but have no crispies... Hm

daholster · 15/02/2015 13:50

I've just looked, we have weetabix, shredded wheat, Alpen and granola!!!

Remembered a name I liked that dh was unsure on last time, not sure whether to suggest it...

Currently we have
Rory Heath/Rory Jack,
Jamie Jack/Jamie Heath/Jamie Rowan
Jack Rowan

We loved Monty but have bottled it. Well, dh has and I can't force him.

Then yesterday I remembered last time I liked Cohen. Is Kaitlin (dd) and Cohen too much? Maybe Jack Cohen might work? Or even Cohen Jack... Or Cohen Heath... Or Cohen MONTY!!! Dh would have to be brave!!!

Not sure whether to bring it up with dh or if he'll just roll his eyes! Probably!!!

daholster · 15/02/2015 13:53

Ps can't do Jack Monty - I would quite possibly go for that vs Rory Heath if it didn't remind me of cheese!!! Monteray Jack... Grin

PenguinPoser · 15/02/2015 14:33

I think Jack Cohen definitely works. Also - you can make Easter best with shredded wheat and chocolate just crush up the shredded wheat mix with chocolate and decorate with a couple of mini eggs Grin do admit I prefer Rice Krispie ones though!

PenguinPoser · 15/02/2015 14:33

Easter nests** rather!

FiRaffe · 15/02/2015 14:36

I'm sure i've seen shredded wheat nests.... (chocolate obviously!) But can't remember how they were done though.

Great that you're getting there on names. It's so difficult knowing you're naming this small person for the rest of their life!

FiRaffe · 15/02/2015 14:37

Great minds Penguin!

Lauren82000 · 15/02/2015 14:37

Was going to suggest that too. If you put the shredded wheat in a bag then let the kids bash it with a rolling pin extra fun
