New (and probably) final thread for those of us due in March (with a few lovely February ladies who didn't want to leave).

So jealous about the shiny new vista! And they've raised the bassinet /lowered the basket which is the biggest bugbear with mine. Great pram choice btw ;)

We just have a quilt for the playmat - courtesy of Mil's sewing machine :) I did buy a lamaze one from tesco last time, but he wasn't really that bothered, by the time he was interested in it he could roll, and everything was more exciting than a playmat!

Ellizardo, asda has 1 in they're baby event that isn't expensive! I ended up paying more for mine than I planned but can be used 3 ways so totally worth it and all toys/arcs come off so can be used as a big may for baby to play on when able to sit

Ellizardo · 03/02/2015 14:07

Great suggestions thanks guys.

fishfingerSarnies · 03/02/2015 14:58

The ikea wooden one is very nice looking. I always find baby gyms so ugly!

theonewiththenoisychild · 03/02/2015 16:20

we still have dds baby gym ds didnt use it but plan to use it again for this baby http://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/baby/c-810/playmats-gyms/p-1174/fisher-price-rainforest-melodies-lights-gym-play-mat/?gclid=CNe3q_-WxsMCFYfKtAodK30AUg

fourmonthstogo · 03/02/2015 17:34

I've just had a phone call to say our pram is ready to collect. How exciting!

I'm feeling ready to finish work too now, tired by the end of the day. Still got 2 weeks to go though, finishing at 38 weeks. Hope I get a little time to relax before he arrives!

Twittwooo · 04/02/2015 06:20

Babies are getting closer! Am I the only one hoping I'll go a little late so I have more time to get organised? I'll have three weeks off work before my due date, but at the moment we're sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room as my husband is about to embark on decorating (and flooring, and ripping things out!) the bedroom. Our home feels very disorganised. I will be allowed to go ten days over and then it will be a section. I have a feeling that's what'll happen, even though I'd quite like a vaginal birth this time I think. But I don't really mind too much, as long as the care is good. We have an inspection at school (work) today, and then it's half term in a week. I'll be glad when today is over. So just over three weeks left of actual working (which is 10 days for me!). Can't wait to finish! And can't wait to hear about the babies arriving.

MGFM · 04/02/2015 08:31

Is anyone experiencing daily Braxton Hicks? Mine are getting more uncomfortable, really feel like I am about to get my period and I am getting them several times a day and night every day and have been for the last week and a half. It really isn't very pleasant. Does anyone think/know or just take a wild guess that this might mean he may well come a little early?

HollyBen · 04/02/2015 09:24

No braxton hicks (didn't get them last time either) but been feeling lik my period is imminent for a week or so.

Butterpuff · 04/02/2015 09:39

I've had one Braxton hick mgfm! I am hoping that means that Baby is some way off arriving yet. Like Twitt I am hoping to go late to have a little more time to prepare. 2 weeks 5 days left, three days at work. I'd like to squeak out an extra week at home if I can for nesting, crafting, cooking and most importantly, building a little strength for birth.

shelley1977 · 04/02/2015 10:48

Ive had quite a few Braxton Hicks, the worst are when I over do things, they are getting stronger as time goes on and I know in the past they have meant things are starting for me. Though quite often it will still be a good few days before labour properly starts.

KeeperOfTheZoo · 04/02/2015 11:23

Not been on here for ages (but been keeping up to date on FB) but had to drop in on what will probably be our final pre-babies thread! I'm 34 weeks tomorrow and have suddenly come crashing down to Earth with the realisation that I'm nowhere near as organised as I thought I was. I have most of what we need as this is DC2, even though we don't know what flavour this one will be. We didn't find out with DS either so all the first clothes etc and the nursery are neutral so I have no worries there. I have finally got the boxes of 0-3m clothes down from the loft but still need to wash them. We got a new mattress for the cotbed ages ago but I've just realised this morning that if I think the cotbed should have a new mattress, then by default the moses basket probably should too? This means getting the basket down from the loft to measure it as it was DHs so isn't a standard size like modern ones. We also need to decorate and re-carpet 2 bedrooms, hall, stairs and landing (we've stripped the wallpaper and got everything ready so the bedrooms look like a bomb-site at the minute!). I just want everything to be ready!

I also need to sort some new bottles. Planning to bf again but DH likes to feed expressed milk so will get new ones as DS's are looking a bit past it now. I used MAM ones last time so will get the same again as they were brill. I noticed at the back end of the last thread someone was asking about microwave sterilising - the great thing with the MAM bottles is that they are self-sterilising so you don't need to put them in a box. You just take them apart, stack the bits in a certain way with a bit of water in the base then microwave for 3 mins - done! Toys R Us have a starter set in the sale for £14.99 which is a lot cheaper than anywhere else but you can't buy online and the nearest branch to have them iin stock is Nottingham...I'm in Manchester!!

fishfingerSarnies · 04/02/2015 11:32

No getting many Braxton hicks but had loads first pregnancy and never really went into labour so for me anyway I wouldn't say they are a sign of imminent labour. Ha maybe it will be the opposite for me this time and no Braxton Hicks mean quick natural labour. Lol.
34 weeks here and pretty oorganised my nan stayed for a few days last week so washed all the baby clothes and ironed them, got a new mattress for basket and washed all the sheets. Have spent the morning sewing some new reusable wipes so can just relax now and wait for 39 weeks. Though I'm half hoping I go early and naturally because I'm dreading recovering from csection with toddler and young dog and no dh for 2 weeks.

Gudgyx · 04/02/2015 11:50

I havent had any braxton hicks at all :( I think I'd like to experience it since I probably wont get to experience real labour having a section booked at 39 weeks. And unless my fistulas miraculously heal completely I never will :(

Fondue42 · 04/02/2015 12:00

Taking a week off work this week: tidying up ready for decorating and cleaning before baby comes, plus time with the other half whilst it is just the two of us. It's so nice to not be at work, I just can't imagine going back in next week!
As usual - I stop working and relax = I get a cold! Boo! Sooo tired right now! Not sure all the tidying up and cleaning I planned will get completed after all! ?? Hmm

Only two weeks of work left for me before I go on leave. I have annual leave saved so I am finishing at 35 ish weeks. Having both sets of parents to stay before I'm due - They both jumped at the chance to see us! Don't think I've seen as much of them in years than I have recently! My parents live 7hrs drive away, and the ILs live 10hrs drive away so day visits aren't really feasible. I've told both sets of parents that I don't want house guests for the first few weeks after the birth, but do want them to come to visit their grandchild as soon as they want to (if that makes sense?) so they will have to book into a local b&b or something. The ILs are fine with this, but I think my parents are a little upset about it. Having a guilt trip about it at the moment, but don't think I'm being unreasonable to just want some private space with my new family before having guests to stay... Anyone else in a similar position?

I'm so lucky to have both sets of parents interested and in reasonable health!

fishfingerSarnies · 04/02/2015 12:16

I don't think your being unreasonable Fondue if you want space you want space. I'm the opposite I'm desperate for mum or Mil to stay I really needed that female company after the birth last time, to help with breastfeed etc and just who really understood. I may have felt different if there had been dad's and fil involved, but my dad lives in LA and my dp dad died a few years ago.

Pumping up my ball! Hoping to encourage baby into good position just incase I have a natural birth.

shelley1977 · 04/02/2015 13:25

I don't have any family to help apart from older children. My eldest son could probably help at a push but has his own stepson and pregnant girlfriend to look after as well as new job, middle son is in London studying so its my 15 year old daughter who will help with 10 and 8 year old siblings till I get out or partner gets home. That was the downside of moving, it makes getting support more difficult.
Im having a crap day today, its my sons 10th birthday and had to get stuff for his cake but since my car broken I had to walk and carry shopping back. Im in quite a lot of pain now and feeling sick from over doing it! I really should know better and got it last night but partner had to attend his daughters school meeting and didn't get home till 10pm.

Fondue42 · 04/02/2015 14:18

Oh wow Shelley, you take care of yourself! I can't imagine how organised you must have to be with 5 children and no car! Hope the cake turns out well!

Fishfingersarnies, no matter how much space I think I'm going to want, I suspect I might be asking for my mum as soon as I go into labour!

Got a cheap gym ball the other day - enjoying bouncing around on it! Hope it works for positioning/ encouraging the baby to turn!

fishfingerSarnies · 04/02/2015 14:44

I've blown my ball up, the dog is petrified and has been hiding behind the curtain for over an hour!

Instamum · 04/02/2015 15:32

Hey all

I. Very late in joining the club!! So I wanted to say hi, as guessed, I'm a lax mother second time around!!! I was on an antenatal thread on here with my first ds (feb 2012) and the advice from those mothers has been invaluable and one of the most supportive networks of mummies I have!!

Some of those 'Higgs bosons' may be on here?

Am I welcome? I'm expecting a girl due on March 13th, but waiting for my c section like some of you are :). I won't bore you all, yet!

fishfingerSarnies · 04/02/2015 15:34

Welcome instamum. X

Instamum · 04/02/2015 15:51

Thanks fishfingersarnies I want to eat you up!! I'm also dreading c section recovery, do you have any tips? My c section burst with my ds. So I'm scared the c section will burst again :(
