Tori glad to hear he's more active today. I'm in the same boat as you, she has been very active recently, but i had a v busy day yesterday and don't remember feeling anything, she always gets busy about 10.30 at night and nothing last night. maybe two kicks this morning.....I'm trying to hold my nerve Confused

good luck with your results today plinky

applecore0317 · 28/01/2015 11:43

Mine still has quiet days then mental days, she usually has a good kick around when I get into bed to go to sleep, and then when I wake up, but have the odd time when she doesn't, so think I am still a few weeks off a routine :) Appointment went ok, doesn't look like my waters are leaking and all looks to be from my lletz treatment, still got to go back next week for another internal scan

Also have been tested for Strep B just in case

Chookford · 28/01/2015 12:08

apple thats good news.

tori I still have quiet days too, some days its like a party in there others one or two kicks maybe, as others have said I dont think at this stage it is anyhting to worry about.

Fluffeh · 28/01/2015 12:12

I don't want to sound all preachy but any change in movements should be reported to either your midwife or maternity place.
Our babies may be small but if you are noticing a reduction in movements it's better to get checked and find they are hiding than to ignore it.
Most midwives would rather see a woman a hundred times and everything be ok than for a mum to be to wait too long to report and have something sad happen.
Please do report any worries to your midwife/ves.
It's so important xx

Chookford · 28/01/2015 12:26

fluff is right of course, if you really are concerned phone your midwife patterns may change but you know your body best and if something doesnt feel right get it checked.

applecore0317 · 28/01/2015 13:09

I agree Fluff, but it seems to be the norm for me to have a couple of quieter days then a couple of active days, has been the way for a few weeks, and everything is looking fine with the internal scans, was planning to ask my midwife at my next appointment to get more of an idea of what to look out for, and how to figure out what's normal, because mine hasn't been in enough of a routine to be able to say oh yes this is a reduction if that makes sense?

cuphat · 28/01/2015 13:26

I just want to mention that an unusual increase in movements can be a sign of a problem too. I never knew this before reading a recent post on the Count the Kicks fb page (from around 9th Jan if I remember correctly). It's any change in pattern, not just a reduction in movements. Not that I've ever had a pattern.

Blondie87 · 28/01/2015 14:51

Good afternoon all, just back from my 24 week MW appointment. She still didn't check the HB- is this standard practice? I've never heard it! I asked her if an increase in discharge was normal and she said yes unless there is an odour/itching. However, now I wish I's been more specific because it sometimes feels quite watery and wet (definitely not wee!). Bit worried about that. It's not like a big gush just a small patch in my pants. Hope it's normal.
In terms of movement, little boy is definitely more active but no set pattern although usually more active mornings and evenings.

leanne963 · 28/01/2015 15:07

I get the same blondie if i am wearing black cotton pants i will notice it feels and looks damp, but them some days its nothing. I tried to have a sniff (how lovely) and it didn't have a sweet smell so i think it is quite normal.

Little girl is getting more and more active at the moment but she too have quite days and busy days, i am trying to keep a diary to see if there is a pattern though. I am only 23w3d so i know it is technically from 24 weeks plus that they say you should be in a pattern.

Hope everyone has had a good few days :D

Blondie87 · 28/01/2015 15:33

Thanks Leanne, I'm sure it's fine just nice to have some reassurance :)
Good idea on the diary.

plinkyplonks · 28/01/2015 16:04

Thanks all - no phone call as yet, so hoping no news is good news :D

Agreed, it's any change in movement that should be reported. When I fell over and experienced increased movements over the next few hours I phoned the hospital for reassurance. When I wasn't 100% happy with their answer, I saw my local midwife who checked the baby's HB and measurements and said everything looked OK. If you're worried, make sure you phone the hospital and if you're not happy with their answer - either go to the hospital or speak to your local midwife for a second opinion.

This beanie seems to have some very active days and some quieter days. Usually cold icy drinks, sugary drinks and laying on my side tends to wake her up :P Or when I have a warm bath, she loves kicking me when I'm in the bath :P

RE: discharge - I've had a lot of waterish milky discharge. Tests always seem to come back OK and from what I've read its relatively normal. :)

Mslad · 28/01/2015 17:16

ooh good idea about the diary leanne !

plinky I reckon no news is definitely good news. fingers crossed.

Chookford · 28/01/2015 18:04

Discharge talk mine is milky and not masses but enough to make me aware and after some itching have had thrush confirmwd along with a lovely water infection to boot! Wonderful!

plinky yes I am a firm believer in no news = good news, will keep everything crossed!

Aconda · 28/01/2015 18:07

Hi blondie,

Since about 18 weeks I've had loads of watery discharge - sort of very very pale yellowish if I wear I pad (which I have been most days). I've been tested for infections and thrush (I had a severe bout just before Christmas). The GP referred me a couple of weeks ago to hospital to check it wasn't leaking amnio and they did an internal exam and all was fine. Plus we've had to have tons of scans for various reasons and fluid levels always ok - yet I'm still very very damp every day!

Hope this reassures - this has also been on my mind. But my Mum is a midwife and she says she loses count of the different sorts of discharge women describe every day!

Sunshinesaz86 · 28/01/2015 18:58

Bit of a touchy subject but this whole paying pregnant woman £400 of vouchers to quit smoking has really wound me up. Why wouldn't woman want to quit for the sake of their unborn child? I know some people day it's hard and an addiction etc but I used to smoke 20-25 a day for years and made the decision to quit when the smoking ban came into wales and did overnight with no gum, tablets, patches ect just will power alone. I just dive get it, how would it even be monitored? I know again some ppl say my mother smoked with me yes fine, but they are saying up to 5000 babies a yr are being affected why choose to take that risk? Grrrr, and I'm not sorry if I come across as an opinionated cow to anyone just feel strongly about this!

Titsalinabumsquash · 28/01/2015 20:03

Cor I'm hurting tonight, bump is constantly rock solid and tight and I feel full like I've eaten a painfully big meal. Baby is still thumping away at my fanjo area though (hiccups I think)

Thanks longest and fluffeh re breast pump advice, I guess will have to see what happens closer to time and will also do some more investigating :)

Tori mine has quiet days and busy days, just felt like I was punched a moment ago- made me nearly spill my decaf tea!

apple that is good news re your appointment :)

Blondie87 · 28/01/2015 20:23

Aconda thank you! that has put my mind at rest.
Literally just thought how tight and uncomfortable my bump felt! Tummy very gurgly too.

leanne963 · 28/01/2015 20:25

tits I am getting kicks really low down and almost in the joints of my hips, god knows what position she is in lol

sunshine I guess because I personally found it no problem to stop smoking the second I found out I was pregnant I guess I can't understand why anyone else would continue....I was only a couple a day smoker though so I guess some people would argue that I wasn't addicted . But suffering a MC last year also made me very worried about damaging the baby so I tried to stay clear of all risks...

Sunshinesaz86 · 28/01/2015 21:07

leanne I just think it's a shame that some woman have to be bribed by a cash incentive that's all, some woman would give everything for a healthy baby. I just don't see why anyone would want to run the risk however large or small. Sad it makes me sad.

Turquoisetamborine · 28/01/2015 21:08

On the topic of smoking while pregnant, I know a girl who has had two premature babies probably due to her heavy smoking during pregnancy. Her first was 9 weeks early and the second 10 weeks. Both times she was getting loads of sympathy on FB and I was just thinking how could you live with yourself? Apparently with every cigarette it cuts the oxygen to the placenta so you are literally starving your baby. How horrific!

leanne963 · 28/01/2015 21:11

turquoise 'Starving the baby' - breaks my heart to even imagine that happening and it wasn't caused by anything I was doing.....so to KNOW I am causing that harm is just so saddening to me.

applecore0317 · 28/01/2015 21:21

blondie the watery discharhe is why the consultant called me back this week as wanted to check it wasn't my amniotic fluids. All ok and whilst he could see a lot of water he thinks that its either due to my lletz treatment or just somethinf that I get in pregnancy. Not my waters thankfully, however he did say its one od the thinfs you should get checked out if it occurs, better safe than sorry

Had to change my underwear three times on Sunday because of it Blush

re the smoking thing, the second I got my positive I stopped, granted by then I was only a weekend smoker but still I had just come back from a holiday where I smoked every day and there was no way I was goinf to cause any harm to my unborn baby, and whats to say those that get the vouchers don't go straight back to smoking once they receive them??? really pi $$ ed me off this morning
