Hey everyone - quick question. I had a consultant appt at 24wks instead of my midwife appt. Just realised I should have booked in for another time with the midwife. When should the next appt be? 28wks?

Sunshinesaz86 · 27/01/2015 07:47

Yey to the new thread! Sorry not posted for a while, I have been reading tho.

Well done to all u ladies studying, i think u should all be very proud of yourselves. I'm sure all the hard work will pay off in the end.

I was so sick Thursday night, I'd eaten spring onions and they didn't agree with me. Either that or was a 24 hr bug but I didn't sleep so couldn't go to work fri, felt tip top again sat.

I have completely lost my motivation in work already, it's quiet at the mo too which makes it worse. I'll be on lighter duties as of end of feb possibly middle depending on how I feel, which will mean less to do so longer days, but I just don't want to be there, it seems crazy with so many weeks left. Any one feeling the same?

Morning all, 2nd day in bed with the flu Sad I've never been in bed for do long my back hurts.

Hope your all well. Good luck to all of you that are studying.

Mslad I kept my ds1 in our room until he was 7 months he slept well throughout the night and woke at 6.30 for a feed. I know some that have transferred into own room when grew out of the Moses basket as the didn't have room in their room but personally I would wait 6 months as recommended.

Actually has anyone used a converted loft room for a nursery? We are planning on putting my soon to be ds2 up there when he is 6 months so around nov time. It's fully insulated ect but wasn't sure if it's advised that nurseries sould on on the same floor as you (does this sound like a silly question?) x

plinkyplonks · 27/01/2015 08:24

Justyouwaitandsee Not sure if it changes by area, but here's the appointment schedule according to the blue folder thing I got given by the midwife:

First child: Before 12 weeks booking appointment, 16, 25, 28, 31, 34, 36, 38, 40, 41

Had a baby before - Before 12 weeks (booking appt), 16, 28, 34, 36, 38, 41

So I'd presume, despite your consultants appointment you should have a midwife's appointment as well if it's your first baby or at week 28 if you've had a baby before. Might be worth calling the doctor's surgery to confirm x

Morning ladies

Sorry to hear people have been suffering over the last few days, hope you feel better soon!!

Ladies I think I have thrush... I've never had it before but pretty sure that's what it is, I have to drop a urine sample off at my docs this afternoon for them to confirm if it is.....is it just canesten I can take?!

mumxof3x · 27/01/2015 09:56

Thanks for the new thread. Wow its going quick.

I think each areas abit dif, I know many mums expecting their 2nd+ dont get seen as often. Round here apps are same as first, which is booking and then seeing a mw after 12wk scan then 16wk, 24wk, 28wk, 32wk, 36wk and then 38 and 41wk.

Talk on studies, I was meant to start uni this september after completing my level 3 course this year, but on the day I was starting the level 3 full time course, I changed it to part time instead and ironicaly found out I was pregnant 2 days later, so I now start next year, I have exams this june just after babys born so wont beable to take time off until they are complete, and then june-sep is focusing on finding as much voluntary/work experience that I can.

Weight talk I have gained 10ib now all mainly from just before christmas, I was at the very lowest end of normal bmi at booking (18.5) but bmi was under with ds2 by quite abit and I lost weight, took ages to gain it back and was only about 4/5ib over pre preg weight when I went into labour, baby was 9ib and healthy, so dont worry tori they just take what they need from our stores.

24weeks today yay, feels weird to think ds3 arrived exactly 14wks from this point.

I now have, a baby changing unit, a crib and bedding, changing matt, bath, steraliser, bottles, breast pump and LOTS of clothes yay. Pram is next.

Justyouwaitandsee · 27/01/2015 10:40

Thanks ladies! I love my new doctors surgery. Called up just now and they have fitted me in for my 28wk appt next Thursday! Smile
So hard keeping track of everything we have going on at the moment!

Justyouwaitandsee · 27/01/2015 10:48

Ps. Since asking my question yesterday about movement, baby seems to have been moving none stop! Crazy movements throughout yesterday evening, having a party when I woke around 2am and kicking my keyboard as I work from home today!

My DH was staring in fascination last night as he watched my stomach moving from the other side of the room. 27 weeks today! Eek!

Snooky17 · 27/01/2015 11:09

Morning Ladies, stupid anterior placenta means still not a lot of movements, more like alien squirmings, on my scans she wasn't majorly wriggly so am guessing she is just a laid back and slightly lazy like her dad lol. Chops ive only had thrush confirmed by swabs so not sure but I Was prescribed canesten cream and the pessarys but also natural yoghurt helps, tho I would recommend not keeping the cream in beside drawer alongside other things like bonjella or on a dark night putting some on can end up messy lol Blush

Chookford · 27/01/2015 12:20

snooky thanks... I will heed your warning! Grin

BeanCalledPickle · 27/01/2015 13:51

I have to sack all my temps at two pm. Lovely ladies who don't deserve this. Revkon I'm going to cry a lot. Not a good job for a pregnant lady!! Must remember this isn't about me!!

longestlurkerever · 27/01/2015 14:18

Hugs "Bean" - that is not a nice thing to have to do.

Rachey my dd's nursery is a half-flight of stairs down from my room which she has been in since she moved out of our room at six months. I don't think there's a safety issue as you can use a monitor to listen in and even if they are on the same floor as you they can't hear your breathing, which is the reason they recommend the same room when newborns. THe only issue I can think of is having to drag yourself up and down the stairs if they wake in the night - and running up and down all those stairs every time you need to grab their teddy or whatever. I am planning to move dd upstairs and dd2 into the nursery when dd2 is 6 months.

I have signed dd2 up to nursery! DD went to a lovely baby nursery until she was 2 and I definitely want dd2 to go there so just emailed to ask when I should think about putting her on the waiting list (it was new when dd started but I knew it had become more popular) and they said I might as well do it now! Seems very organised and slightly paranoid it's unlucky but hey ho.

Racheyg · 27/01/2015 14:50

bean that's awful. I hope it went ok.

longest thanks. I was going to move ds2 into ds1 room and move ds1 up into a new nursery when ds2 was ready at 6 months but if I say come on let's go to bed he walks up the stairs and into his room. I don't want to take that away from him as he might already feel slightly pushed out when ds2 arrives. At what age do you stop using a monitor? Ds1 will be 22 months when ds2 arrives will I need a new monitor? Maybe the exercise up and down the stairs will do me good Grin xx

longestlurkerever · 27/01/2015 14:59

I dunno. Our monitor packed in a while ago and dd is plenty able to yell for us! I will need a new one for dd2 though.

Yes, I am a bit worried about that too but I need to move her really as need her cot-bed back for dd2 and a full-size bed will not really fit in the nursery. Plus the nursery is half way between upstairs and downstairs so handy when a baby has daytime naps (wishful thinking!). I am going for the hard sell on the new room and am getting her a cabin bed and will decorate it with Frozen stuff or whatever she likes by then - hoping not to need to move her till her birthday in August so I can make it her present and she doesn't associate the move so much with dd2's arrival. But that means I won't really have anywhere to put dd2's stuff. It was quite handy having a nursery for changing etc even though dd didn't sleep there at first.

Racheyg · 27/01/2015 15:30

longest that's a good idea I remember when I was a kid I loved having my room decorated and I always associated it as a "treat" is your daughter old enough to have input?

Titsalinabumsquash · 27/01/2015 15:45

DS3 (2) has had a big cry today, I put the cot up and he promptly climbed in it, when I tried to remove him he cried "NO MUMMY, IM THE BABY!" ??

How are you preparing your toddlers for a sibling please?

On another note I've got everything bought and ordered today so we're all done on baby stuff to buy.

OP posts:
cuphat · 27/01/2015 16:09

Tits, we've bought a few books including 'There's a house inside my mummy" and "I'm a new big sister" which DD loves reading. DD (19 months) understands that there's a baby inside my tummy and keeps asking for "baby, please"! The first one explains the pregnancy and the second one gives them an idea of what it will be like when baby arrives. I'm sure there must be a brother version too. We've got a couple of others but the above are her favourites.

mumxof3x · 27/01/2015 16:10

Tits, ds3 is abit too young to understand just yet, but hes very clingy of me (the older 2 arnt allowed, to come near me, he pulls them away, so I am very nervous about him) but ds1 and 2 are ok, ds2 keeps asking "when is the doctor getting baby out of mummys tummy?" lol.

longestlurkerever · 27/01/2015 17:06

My dd is 3.5 so yes, rachey, she is old enough to have some input into her room. As for preparing her, she wasn't keen at first but luckily a couple of her friends are about to have new siblings and are excited about it and it's rubbing off a bit. Ishe has started to look out some of her old clothes and toys for new baby, which is sweet. I have tried to drop it into conversation often enough to get her used to the idea but not to go on about it. I am hoping the age gap is such that she will be keener on the big sister role than directly competing with the baby buti know she will be jealous of my attention being taken away.

BeanCalledPickle · 27/01/2015 17:33

I love pregnancy. Constipated for days and then a trip to the work toilet so monumental that I've blocked the loo and have had to scurry away from the cubicle in disgrace.

Time to go home.

Scottishgal78 · 27/01/2015 18:12

Oh beanConfused

Justyouwaitandsee · 27/01/2015 18:12

Oh dear Bean - doesn't sound like its been a fun day for you. Sending hugs and hope you have a nice relaxing evening when you get home!

I'm still having the Ellas kitchen simply prune puree, one in the morning and one in the evening. Making things better

applecore0317 · 27/01/2015 19:20
