leanne I think most pregnant smokers will probably block out what is actually happening when they are smoking. I only found that out from a midwife who I know as a friend. If you read the American articles on the subject they are a lot more graphic and to the point about the risks than the NHS ones which skirt around the subject.
That's probably the same with most health messages in this country though.

KittyVonCatsington · 28/01/2015 21:57

Evening ladies!

Loving the chat-discharge, thrush, knicker watch...such a glamorous time pregnancy!

I don't have a pattern with kicks either-I have noticed if I go for a walk, she is quiet and when I sit, she is more likely to kick. Other than that, just like it when she makes any movement really!!

longestlurkerever · 28/01/2015 22:06

Just to say the count the kicks advice only applies after 24 weeks. Tori and I are only at 22 weeks and it is normal to still have variable movement at this stage.

mamalj84 · 28/01/2015 22:58

Hi ladies, really enjoying this thread and thought I would join in:) I'm 25 weeks with my first baby.

I had changes in movement last week too. I phoned the midwife and they

mamalj84 · 28/01/2015 23:01

Told me to come in and get checked and that nothing was silly and it's better to be safe etc.
They said that when we are quite active that we rock the baby to sleep so we don't notice baby movements as much, and that it's usually when you go to relax yourself- normally bedtime, that baby starts doing gymnastics!
The pattern counting the kicks apparently doesn't start until 28 weeks? Not sure how correct that is? I know there is a website for it though x

SmileyScooby · 29/01/2015 06:42

Welcome mama - I'm also 25 weeks :)

Sunshinesaz86 · 29/01/2015 07:20

Welcome mama. scooby I'm also 25 weeks today! 15 weeks will fly by!!

I have also read the same re movements and rocking, more lively when we're not which was definitley the case for me last night! Grin

gingerfluffball · 29/01/2015 08:19

Hi mama Smile

Looks like there were some active babies last night (mine too)!

mumxof3x · 29/01/2015 08:47

I also think paying mothers to stop smoking is rediculous, if a person can stop smoking for money but not their unborn babys then that is extremely sad and disturbing.

R.e discharge, my pregnancy discharge is much different to when non pregnant, as I start to get abit later on mine turns to a very pale greeny colour :/ yuk, it didnt with ds1 but did with ds2 and 3 and now just started again, I had countless swabs etc in pregnancy and all showed no infection or anything. Lots of different stuff can be normal but always mention it if worried.

I have my midwife appointment at lunch time, and its really snowing. Going to mention an issue I have been having the past week with my heart, its doing it multiple times a day, and basicaly just starts racing but going to 160bpm which is way higher then it should be, and I can tell when its doing it, my arms start going heavy and i go dizzy and feel terrible.

mumxof3x · 29/01/2015 08:48

Also hi mama :)

leanne963 · 29/01/2015 09:19

Welcome Mama :)

Oh no mum that doesn't sound good! When it starts racing do you feel like you are skipping beats then your heart is beating extra fast and hard for a few seconds then it goes?! I get this if i lay funny on my left side when i am trying to sleep, ive had it years though and doctors never took it seriously :/

No leanne, I think that sounds like palpitations what you are describing, they can be very common in pregnancy and stuff had those a few times too (but they should also be checked out just to be safe) this just doubles up my heartrate is usually about 80-85 and I cant feel it like say when it speeds up during excercise and stuff when it pounds and you can feel it...i dont get anything like that, i just know its doing it because of how I start to feel, like i I just dont know what to do with myself and go all weird then iI feel my pulse and its racing. Its done it just about everyday for the past week at least 2/3 times a day and lasts a while. I did try to ring mw yest and day before but phones always off. Thankyou :)

Chookford · 29/01/2015 10:51

morning ladies

mama welcome and congrats, time does seem to be speeding up now January is almost over and usually January seems to last for about 10wks!

mum oh no, that doesnt sound fun... hope your midwife can give you some answers/reassurance.

applecore0317 · 29/01/2015 11:17

Hope all goes at ok at the Midwife Mum

And welcome Mama and congrats :)

I feel like total shit today, Have had about two hours sleep, been up all night with horrible trapped wind pain and stomach spasms, used to get these a few years ago all the time, but few and far between now. Nothing is relieving it, have tried deflatine, ginger and am just feeling sorry for myself :( Am sat at work all cramped up and want to be at home curled up in bed.. sorry, pity party over now

Chookford · 29/01/2015 11:22

Apple sorry to hear you are suffering, really hope it eases off soon!

SmileyScooby · 29/01/2015 11:45

Sunshine you are right these next 15 weeks will go in no time (or that is how it feels at the moment anyway - 1st time so have no idea what to expect!!) I've only got 9 more weeks at work (1 of those is half term!) so am panicking a bit about all the stuff I need to get done like marking coursework (when it's finished!!) and sorting out the lessons that I haven't planned yet for the department! Eeek

mum, tori and apple sorry to hear you are suffering today/last night. I haven't been sleeping well last couple of weeks (neither has DH prob disturbing each other I expect!)

Just had some cake at breaktime to keep me going as we have got parents evening tonight so another long night for me, think I have next Thursday evening as a non late evening!!

Dunno bout anyone else who is 25 weeks but I feel like I have ballooned a bit this week and a few more people have commented at work too.

leanne963 · 29/01/2015 12:01

Ah thanks for the info mum well I hope the midwife can help you!!

Oh apple that does not sound fun! Bless you! I'm fortunately sleeping ok at the moment but I am waking up every few hours with really achey hips :( so have to keep tossing and turning! It's nearly the weekend so I hope you can relax a bit then!

smiley I have grown lots over the past week, my mum even commented that I have ballooned. I can't see my bikini line any more lol

gingerfluffball · 29/01/2015 12:20

Argh apple that sounds awful. I always end up trying to get rid of trapped wind by assuming a rather ungainly downward dog position (on floor, bum in the air). It does work but not v work-friendly Blush

Leanne my hips are killing me at night too! Need to sleep with cushions all propped up round me, I look like something out of the princess and the pea. Also ballooning which I am quite enjoying, although it's getting harder to paint toenails/put socks on.

leanne963 · 29/01/2015 12:24

Haha ginger the princess and the pea feels about right! I usually love my firm mattress but it feels like i am lying on stone now!! The realisation that in a few weeks i may need my boyfriend to put my shoes on for me is quite scary ha!!

Titsalinabumsquash · 29/01/2015 12:25

I slept like a log last night but woke up in a filthy mood, I've sobbed all day for absolutely no reason BlushSad

OP posts:
aberjen · 29/01/2015 12:51

Awww tits hate it when that happens Sad Hope you're feeling perkier soon

Welcome mama Smile

mum hope your MW can reassure you on the heart thing, or arrange for you to get checked out - that does not sound fun...

I have had a weird cold-y flu-y thing the last couple of days, was off work with it yesterday, after being up for 1.5 h in the night with it. Been getting really shivery - got out of bed to take some paracetamol and couldn't stop shaking, then couldn't get warm again in bed even though had a temperature. Horrid! But feel absolutely fine today, just a little bit snuffly.

Am also so emotional it's unreal. I went to talk to project manager (who is also good friend) about a project and randomly started crying halfway through a sentence for literally no reason Blush. So then I (and she) started laughing at the ridiculousness of myself all while my eyes were still welling up. In the middle of the open-plan office.

mumxof3x · 29/01/2015 13:05

Hi all, thankyou :) ive just got in from the app, shes took my bloods to check my iron levels as that can cause rapid pulse, she wants to see me again in 2wk rather then 4wk and if it continues she will book me in with my consultant at hospital to do the checks etc, although she commented on my weight and said your only skinny and not really stacking any fat like you should be, im not saying you dont eat but you need to keep snacking, it could be your blood sugar...i had to laugh lol all I do is eat and snack infact too much (currently sat tuckin into fish and chips) lol

Apple hope you are ok
Tits oh the joys of fowl moods, hope you are ok too.
And anyone else I have missed thats having a rubbish time x

shinyhappyone · 29/01/2015 13:05

Hope all goes well mum. Have been in a+e this morning myself with a heart thing. Have developed a heart murmur with pregnancy and recently had palpitations then started with chest pains and difficulty breathing. ECG all normal but they've found a raised amount of clotting agent in my blood so they're worried I'm developing clots - more tests on the way! Hopefully all will come back fine and I'm just being a drama queen about everything!
On the up side, baby bean seems completely unaware and has been reassuring me with little kicks and nudges. I'm imagining him saying "im ok mum. Things are good down here." So silly I know but I don't care hehe xx

gingerfluffball · 29/01/2015 13:39

Oh no shiny, keeping fingers crossed for you and those tests.
