Sounds good, thanks Fluffeh. Keen to hear what happens at the scan, hope yours goes well! For some reason ours isn't until 34 weeks, feels like ages to wait.

I dont put much in to fundal height to be honest, my bump is tiny but yet measures almost 5cm over at the moment, because whilst it doesnt grow outwards so much my fundal edge is really high like to the top of my tummy so its really stretched out. With ds3 my first one was 3cm over, second one was 2cm under an then 3rd was spot on, totally think it depends how they lay x

leanne963 · 19/02/2015 09:35

Eurgh another sleepless night :( Anyone suffered from dead legs?! I seem to get comfortable then my leg gets all weird and dead and I need to massage it!

Pre pregnancy I was a stomach sleeper so I never led my legs on top of each other and I found myself getting comfortable with the leg I was lying on being flat and the other leg propped up with a pillow but felt like I was too much on my bump/front.

Anyone have any tips?!

bradders85 · 19/02/2015 10:22

Tori and ginger - sorry to hear you are suffering with PGP too. The midwife has referred me to physio but haven't heard anything yet so who knows when I will get to see someone - let me know how it goes with you tori.

No real tips but getting out of the car with your knees together is more comfortable than you usually would - although looks rather odd as you cling to the steering wheel trying to shuffle round!! I am trying to do this if I remember. I am also sleeping with a pillow between my legs - think it can help for a while but then still end up in pain. Also try to turn in bed with knees together. For months my left leg hurts when getting dressed so avoid standing on one leg and instead sit down to change.

It's such an odd thing because it can hurt when your on your feet....I end up limping......but also I can seize up if I have been sat down and resting!! I move like a grandma when I first get out of bed and takes me a while to get moving!!!
There seems to be no happy medium. The doctor signed me off for 2 weeks due to it and has extended it for a further 2 weeks on the advice of 'rest but stay active!'.......so I am actively resting where possible! The doctor has also said it will only get worse too as the baby gets bigger and we carry more weight :/ Let me know if you discover any tips too.

30 weeks today for me....time is flying by!! Have a good day everyone.

applecore0317 · 19/02/2015 10:47

sorry to those suffering with PGP, sounds horrible

leanne I get a sore hip and occasional dead legs, and have always been a side sleeper, I just sleep as sloped as possible

applecore0317 · 19/02/2015 10:47

Happy 30 weeks bradders

cuphat · 19/02/2015 10:54

Sorry you're going through a tough time, tits, I hope your DS improves soon.

Applecore, I remember looking into the moses basket mattress protectors last time. Reading up at the time, they didn't seem to do them because they weren't recommended - they would makes the basket less breathable for baby. We found we didn't need one anyway.

Was tempted by a bednest but think we'll use our Moses basket again. We bought a new one last time as someone was going to give us one but we couldn't find a standard mattress to fit and it was cheaper just to buy a whole new basket than have a mattress made.

Great news apple!

DH did deal with my bikini area at a later stage (I normally shave). Good job we don't have a problem with it as here they ask you to shave yourself before a planned section anyway!

Hope you feel better today Kyz.

I was diagnosed with PGP before Christmas. Five weeks of coughing and then lifting DD set it off. I was in absolute agony in my lower abdomen, but only when walking, and especially going up and down stairs. Sometimes I could barely walk a few steps and it was worse later on in the day. I was told this was classic PGP/SPD. Luckily for me it was just before Christmas when my DH then had time off work which enabled me to totally relax and avoid carrying DD. It disappeared and hasn't been back, though I'm very careful with lifting now. I have had it threaten to return when I've overdone the walking but making sure I rest seems to hold it back. I was referred to physio but haven't gone now.

Re weights, I've said before but I measured spot on throughout last time (was even under one week) and DD was 9lb 10oz at 39 weeks! DH is very tall and I'd mentioned my concerns but the midwife assured me it looked like I'd have an average 8lb-er... This time I'm bigger than I was at this stage and it's a boy...

Leanne have you tried a pregnancy pillow? The large ones support your stomach and allow you to put your top leg in front of the bottom one.

I'm a stomach sleeper yet I haven't been able to for two years! Stopped when pregnant with DD, then was advised not to sleep on stomach due to boob problems when breastfeeding. I bf for 17 months then stopped because I was pregnant so no chance to go back to it! I can't wait till I've finished bf this baby!

leanne963 · 19/02/2015 11:02

Cup Yeah i have the dream Genii but i always end up pushing it away lol or ending up pretty much on my back! Argh i love sleep but have had insomnia for nearly 4 years so hope i can just battle through the next year or so lol

cuphat · 19/02/2015 11:11

I used the dream genii and Theraline ones last time but while they are good I'm finding just a small wedge pillow under my bump easier to sleep with this time (so far). I like to switch sides a lot and the big pillows make it difficult. Oh no that sounds horrible. I'm sleeping ok so far but remember getting hardly any sleep later on in pregnancy last time. I got better quality sleep after DD had been born!

leanne963 · 19/02/2015 12:16

Really?? cuphat that's funny! I would have thought that baby here = no sleep whatsoever lol! I think we are lucky being pregnant this time of year as if i was heavily pregnant over August i can imagine that being very difficult and uncomfortable!!

cuphat · 19/02/2015 12:25

Honestly, and I remember thinking that in the early weeks! Having a baby was tough but I found trying to sleep during late pregnancy tougher! And yes, we are lucky that we won't be heavily pregnant over summer! May/June is a lovely time to have a baby too; the light mornings and evenings and warm weather when trying to get to grips with bf were great.

applecore0317 · 19/02/2015 13:17

Ah yes, hadn't thought about that, some mornings start to get light as early as 4.30 so that will be handy

WigglyWigglyWoo · 19/02/2015 14:05

Hi ladies. Is anyone else feeling really breathless? Today I'm struggling to hold a normal conversation without pausing to catch my breath. Otherwise I feel fine. Pretty tired but generally ok

KittyVonCatsington · 19/02/2015 14:17

Yes yes to breathless!! Lungs must be super squished! cuphat that is a lovely way to look at May babies-I also feel like I will be out and about a bit more than if I had a middle of winter baby. To be honest, I just want to feel some sun really Grin.

longestlurkerever · 19/02/2015 14:31

wiggly yes. I had to give a talk at work the other day and hadn't factored in the difficulty breathing!

Hmm to sleep after the baby is here. Dd spent the first 8 weeks not wanting to sleep anywhere but on my chest.I could sleep with her lying there but was generally too worried.

leanne963 · 19/02/2015 15:00

Kitty Oh to feel warmth on my skin.....and puke and poo if i am correct in thinking babies produce lots of this?! Or is is roses and sunshine? ;)

WigglyWigglyWoo · 19/02/2015 16:07

Ok that's reassuring! Not sure it's likely to get better until this little one makes an appearance though!

longestlurkerever · 19/02/2015 16:17

Wiggly it should get a bit better when the baby engages, as s/he'll drop down a bit off your lungs, but that may not be until just before the birth.

bradders85 · 19/02/2015 16:45

thanks apple :) and thanks for the advice cuphat Just had my letter through about physio and got appointment on the 12th March so bit of a wait....and I'm due on April 30th!
I agree it will be a lovely time of year for babies.....nice weather and plenty of opportunities to get out and about with the pram hopefully! :)

SmileyScooby · 19/02/2015 17:14

Wiggly yes to the breathlessness here too, finding even when sitting sometimes am breathing heavily too

Snooky17 · 19/02/2015 19:05

Sitting on a carrier bag in car mKes it easier to swivel out, also read somewhere about sleeping on a sleeping bag makes it easier to turn over etc as its slippery unless you have satin sheets I guess, need to have a proper catch up as just skimmed through posts, been to zoo today with oldest sd and youngest and omg does my pelvis hurt cup of tea, hot water bottle feet up and an Oreo or two

Turquoisetamborine · 19/02/2015 20:37

Enjoy your Oreos snooky
Glad someone mentioned breathlessness. I've been thinking that my asthma was worse and using my inhaler more but it could just be my lungs are getting squished.
I've been for whooping cough vac today and my arm is really sore but no other side effects other than that. Also had my second glucose tolerance test and I haven't heard the results yet so it must be fine. Three hospital trips today!

Chookford · 19/02/2015 21:10

Breathless here too!! Thank goodness some of you are experiencing the same!

I've just bought my travel system...hooray so excited!!! Grin

Kyz · 19/02/2015 22:10

Evening everyone :)

Today has been better, thankyou all for being so supportive :) I just feel a bit overwhelmed with everything, like i'm very unprepared and whatnot. Today though one of my bigger issues is on it's way to being sorted, I have an alcove in my bedroom that has a funny step/shelf thing in it, because the stairs go under there (hard to explain) but my big wardrobe won't fit. Today we measured and priced up for someone to make us a fitted wardrobe, so that we will have more room space for a bedside cot/something. It's one of those things that HAS to be done and i've been fretting about it because of time and also money, as dp has gone from weekly to monthly money right over xmas and we've got some catching up to do with some bills Blush it's been really tough!

ginger I don't think fundal height is always all that accurate, and I measured big with my ds for a bit, but then settled down later on. My mum measured big with my brother and he was 7lb odd. She measured small with my sister, and she was 10lb odd!

I am struggling with sleeping too, I keep getting pins and needles in my legs, and i'm struggling to stay on my left, though I know i'm supposed to. I keep waking up on my back and i'm sure that's not a good thing! If i'm not asleep within ten minutes i need to move but the more i move the more uncomfortable i am and the longer i seem to be awake. I am struggling sometimes during the day but keep putting off going to the doctors as they couldn't do anything last time apparently, so I can't see this time being any different :S

happy 30 weeks bradders!!

wiggly yes to breathlessness

also, anyone feeling constantly exhausted? It doesn't seem to matter how long i sleep for :( though to be honest I think it's largelt going to be down to the fact it's not very good quality sleep that i am getting. Really need to look at a pillow or something. I'm just using a pair of normal pillows at the minute.

Right, off to bed now, to try some of that previously mentioned sleep stuff! :)

hope a good night is had all round :)
