We will be using a moses basket for the first couple of months or so, is anyone else using one? and if Yes does the moses basket mattress need a waterproof protector?

leanne963 · 18/02/2015 09:52

Aww thinking of you and your DS tits sorry he is not doing good in wish him a speedy recovery!! Congrats on the niece!!

Oh kitty that sounds lovely! Such a shame about the judgemental woman, I would kill for one glass of red wine but it's not worth the hassle! Ha! Soon though!!!!

Got my 25 week midwife appointment in an hour! Although I am 26w3d as they couldn't fit me in last week! It is exciting that from now on they are every few weeks hopefully will make time go faster!!

Threesoundslikealot · 18/02/2015 10:14

Oh, Tits, that sounds tricky. I'm sorry. Congratulations on your new niece.

Kitty, funny judgemental woman! There's a (really lovely) staff member in our canteen who keeps trying not to serve me coffee because she thinks I shouldn't be drinking it. I have to wait till someone else can serve me!

Chookford · 18/02/2015 10:56

kitty glad yo had a lovely break, and what a star your dh is! Mine was helping keep me faily neat down there when i was pg with my dd so hoping he knows he will be doing the same again soon! Dont worry about judgemental lady... those types of people will always fine something to be disapproving of! And Stokke's are lovely, must be awesome to have one given to you!

apple yes I will be using a moses basket, I didnt have any water proof protector last time and havent this time either and I found it was fine, the amount of times baby is changed there was no leaking.. but if you would feel more comfortable having one then go for it, it cant hurt to have extra protection!

leanne good luck at midwife appt!

longestlurkerever · 18/02/2015 11:10

I hope all goes well at the hospital tits. Must be very stressful for you. Congratulations on the new niece - will be nice for your baby to have a cousin close in age.

Yes, I will use a moses basket for a while - I have bought a new mattress for it but think it might be the wrong size - doh - I assumed they would be a standard shape.

I have a mamas and papas pram. It was good value, I think, but it doesn't fold down very small at all. Need to somehow get the buggy attachment off it though (it seems to have jammed) and put the carrycot bit back on. Dd wants a buggy board and I think that'll be handy even though she is 3.5 as we live quite a hike from the station and it's uphill to the shops.

Hope you all enjoyed your pancakes.

Have decided to move dd to her new room at Easter time, so that I can have a nursery for the baby's things. Was going to keep her in her current room till the baby needs it but getting the nesting instinct!

SmileyScooby · 18/02/2015 11:29

kitty wow my DH wouldn't do that for me...don't think I would let him either he always seems to nick himself shaving!! Think I may be having to book myself in for my first ever bikini wax!!

apple we are going to have a Moses basket which friend is giving us for downstairs and crib for upstairs in our room. I can't see the harm in a waterproof mattress but I seem to remember reading something somewhere about not using them incase sick as liquid doesn't go anywhere or something?! (No idea really as surely they wouldn't make them if that was the case!)

Had check up scan at hospital today (28w) and baby is a fatty at estimated 3lbs!! Any non first timers had measurements like that at this stage and can put my mind at rest that I'm not going to be giving birth to a sumo wrestler?!

Titsalinabumsquash · 18/02/2015 12:16

DS2 was estimated to have a final birth weight of 11lbs 4 if I'd gone to term, he was born after 20 mins of spontaneous labour at 36 weeks and weighed 7lb 6, make of that what you will. Grin

Thanks for the kind words about DS1.

applecore0317 · 18/02/2015 12:27

Thanks. Not worries, just wondered if it was one or those should buy things

just sat waiting to see the consultant, anyone else finding it harder to pee in that bottle ha ha, I'm amazed I get any in there these days

Threesoundslikealot · 18/02/2015 12:52

smiley, it's really hard to estimate weights properly in utero, and it gets less and less accurate. I had a scan at 40+10 and was told that DD would be 'at least' 10lbs which obviously freaked me out a bit. She was born four days later at just on 9lbs, and actually looked smaller - the midwives were astonished that she weighed so much and reckoned she was really dense. Grin

applecore0317 · 18/02/2015 14:00

yey cervix length has improved, the progesterone pesseries and rest is working :) he's keeping me off work for at least another two weeks though

Threesoundslikealot · 18/02/2015 14:28

Brilliant news, apple!

shinyhappyone · 18/02/2015 16:06

My word it's so hard to catch up on here is you have a few days off you busy bees! Luckily I'm early for my midwife appointment so have a little time on my hands!

I think dh would be horrified if I asked him to sort the bikini area but my asked for a laugh. I use removal cream but such a faff when you can't see what you're doing! At the hospital it's says that you shouldn't wax up to a month before your due date and only use cream. Anyone else seen a notice like this?

Sorry to hear you're having to spend time in the hospital tits. Hope he's well soon.

Anyone else's little bean getting more and more active. I'm having lots of swish like movements that kind of make my tummy vibrate - really weird!! They make me gasp and twitch. Really awkward in staff meetings and stuff Smile love it really though!

xx

leanne963 · 18/02/2015 16:15

YAY apple That is amazing :D GO CERVIX!

Shiny I am probably just going to use cream in the final month, i read somewhere though not to use cream as the toxins can get into your skin blah blah but i think that is just the over cautious recommendations. On the movement front YES she is getting so so active now, seems to be many more hard punches and kicks nowadays and lots more visable movements! Kinda cool :)

Midwife appointment was really good, i am so glad she is so lovely and the only one i have seen throughout my pregnancy! Measuring bang on size, she said i have a long torso so doubt i will get much rib pain YAY. And was happy that baby kicked the doppler off of my belly as shows good awareness! I am so happy with my little girl already :D

bradders85 · 18/02/2015 16:31

Hi everyone...just had a big thread catch up session so apologies if I miss anyone or get confused with who said what!
apple - pleased the consultant appointment went well and keep up with the rest.

tits, hopes DS1 is ok and congratulations on the new niece. I have a new nephew too, went to see him in hospital yesterday such a cutie. I love being pregnant but still don't think I have made the connection between my bump and ending up with a little baby at the end of it!! exciting!

Fluff hope you have a lovely weekend away. Me and DP are just back from Shrewsbury and had a lovely time, really lucky with the weather. Had to take plenty of rests though for my PGP and despite that my legs are still a bit sore now.

Hope everyone else is keeping well.

DP and his dad have ripped the shower out and are busy installing a bath instead....dust everywhere but will look nice once it's finished. I am already waddling around like a penguin which makes me feel much more pregnant and bigger than I am!! Think it's a combination of bump and sore legs! 30weeks tomorrow :)

Chookford · 18/02/2015 17:12

apple hooray for a good cervix!!

mumxof3x · 18/02/2015 19:22

Tits, wishing your ds a quick recovery.

Apple great news on your cervix news yay.

Ive paid the deposit on my pram today, gone with a double but can go to a single. Its just like an I candy just not got the label. But as I most likely wont be using it as a double for too long I didnt want to splash all out. But really happy with it :)

Kyz · 18/02/2015 21:00

evening all, posting before catching up as i've had one of those days and want to cry into my pillow, so not sure i'll manage to catch up with everything, but poking my head in anyway. 26 weeks tomorrow.

Hope you are all well xx

SmileyScooby · 18/02/2015 21:05

tits and three thanks for your comments, I'm hoping measurements are slightly out! Will be interesting what midwife measures me as tomorrow as FH was measuring at 26/27 when Dr saw me at 25w and am now 28w.

apple great news re your cervix :)

shiny definitely more movements!

Re the forests some of us have got going on down there I'm going to ask midwife tomorrow re options...I haven't waxed down there before...normally shave so was looking at the veet hair removal stuff that washes off in shower etc as thought might be an idea and will just trim the other areas with scissors the bits I can reach to tidy up so not like something from a dodgy porn film!! (I personally prefer to be almost bare down below but it's gone wild!)

SmileyScooby · 18/02/2015 21:06

kyz crossed posts - sorry to hear today hasn't been a good day (virtual hugs) sometimes things feel better after a cry x

applecore0317 · 18/02/2015 21:20

Thanks everyone, has made the boredom worth it :D

sorry you're having a rubbish day kyz yey for 26 weeks tomorrow. I am 26 weeks today :)

glad you sorted the buggy out mum

yey for the measurements being bang on leanne

sorry you're suffering with the pgp bradders

shinyhappyone · 18/02/2015 21:55

Kyz, sending positive vibes. Have had a couple is days like that recently and it's just rubbish. A down day must mean an up day is right round the corner xx

Turquoisetamborine · 18/02/2015 21:57

I can't remember who asked what as my phone is playing up but I had another scan today at 27+6 and baby was estimated to weigh 2lb 6 and that was on the 19th percentile so 3lb is not too bad I think. All looked fine and the placenta blood flow was a good rate.
I have to go back at 8.30(!) tomorrow for another GTT which I'm dreading as the drink you have to have is truly disgusting and it takes up the whole morning by the time you go back for the second lot of bloods and they have massacred my hands as I'm a nightmare to draw blood from. Oh and then I have my whooping cough vac to look forward to as well at 11am.
Apple so glad your cervix is not shortening. Keep resting now.
Tits hope your son gets better soon. How worrying.
I haven't seen any signs about not waxing your foof. I could ask the midwife about it tomorrow maybe?! I have kind of given up on that since I was put on pelvic rest. I'm blonde though so that helps.

Any tips on PGP v welcome over here too Smile have ordered a lovely beige bump support belt on ebay, will be feeling v attractive wandering around with that on in the evenings! Confused

Have just st come back from mw appt (time difference is weird cos we're in Australia) and my measurements were a bit off - measuring 2cm under dates on fundal height. She's sent us off for a growth scan which is good but now I'm worrying about him doing alright in there, does anyone know how accurate fundal height actually is? Logically I think he's probably fine as he does tend to lie in funny positions and the mw had trouble locating him to get his heartbeat (with the reassuring phrase 'don't worry dear, we know he has a heartbeat because he's kicking!'). Any stories about fundal height feel free to share to put my mind a bit more at ease!

Fluffeh · 19/02/2015 06:41

Ginger - no advice just yet but I measured 5 weeks over and have my growth scan this morning so will come back and update afterwards. I am not expecting a huge baby as dd was under 7 lbs but this one Is a boy and maybe they are bigger?

We have a Moses basket for downstairs. Mainly so he'll have somewhere safe to sleep while dd plays. Otherwise he'll be forced to play all sorts of games with her even though he's asleep haha.
Anyone thinking of getting second hand bits at baby sales? We need a bath support and a buggy board both of which I'm hoping to pick up at the local baby sale early next month as they are stupid prices brand new and don't really wear out x
