Hello all!

Not posted for a while but I do read most days! Had scan today - it was wonderful! All seems well although I have a fibroid (?). She tells me I have an anterior placenta which may be why im not feeling much!

The sonographer referred to the baby as "her" arm, "her" foot 3 times. I didn't ask her to check sex and didn't notice her doing so...should I read much into this? (Secretly wanted to know sex but husband said no!!!)

JennyOfOldstones · 05/02/2015 14:08

Congrats roly! My sonographer referred to our girl as 'he' until we asked about the sex so maybe they all have a personal preference! She couldn't tell the first time so it's not like she would have had a glimpse of anything! I don't think you can rule it out though!

Chookford · 05/02/2015 14:28

Congrats roly the sonograper when I had my dd refereed to her as he but she did explain she calls all babies he.. This time they only refer to baby as baby! So I wouldn't read too much into it although the you have a 50/50 chance of her being right! Grin

htf2 · 05/02/2015 16:29

I have just worked out that I think I have been feeling kicks, on my front, and I've been thinking they were air bubbles / my digestion being rubbish. Increasingly sure they are kicks, very exciting!

rolypolybird84 · 05/02/2015 17:38

htf2 how exciting! I can't wait to feel movements that I can confidently say are baby (pretty sure I have feelings but couldn't say confidently!)

Thanks for well wishes...I'm ridiculously excited today after that lovely start to the day! I am in a baby daze Smile

Won't read too much into the sex I will just impatiently wait now until June!!!

rolypolybird84 · 05/02/2015 18:38

Oh my word it must be real...I've gone Facebook public ha ha!!!

Deutschybaby · 05/02/2015 19:31

Lovely scan news today! roly with my first, the woman kept calling it a'he' until she told us what it was. Guess they must all have preferences! You're very strong willed not to have asked after that, well done!

Glad more people are feeling kicks, it's so lovely isn't it! Mine goes quiet whenever dh puts his hand on my tummy though, it makes me look a bit crazy.

Tomorrow in work is my most hellish day of the 2 week timetable. It's all sorts of hectic/difficult/Knackering, but I can see a light at the end of the tunnel - I only have 6 more Fridays like it before mat leave! I started making a month by month plan yesterday to avoid piles of marking be productive and it feels much more real now!

ive been so tired this evening that I'm just sitting on the sofa while dh runs around bathing/hair washing/clothes sorting with DD. It's taking ages and I really should go and help but I'm just so comfy.. Blush

Tryingreallyhard84 · 05/02/2015 19:47

Deutschy - avoiding marking being productive by working out how many Fridays you have left must be lovely. I might do that when I get my matb1 in a couple of weeks. Anything to help keep me sane.

I've collapsed to bed early. Audit season has well and truly kicked off this week and its been non stop. Just tomorrow morning to get through then I have my scan. Grin

Emz1989 · 05/02/2015 20:02

Thank you anything must start taking these exercises more seriously I think!!
Congrats on more new scan news!!
I had a health and safety review in work today will ignore the fact it was supposed to be done within 14 days of telling incompetent headteacher! and was told I'm not considered to be at any higher risk than any other member of staff at the mo, I'm to continue doing break time duty throughout my pregnancy as its part of the job role and I'm fine to carry and use the low level step ladder for display boards but avoid carrying the huge one! Great. That's just great! It's not the fact I have to do duty, I've been doing them 3 times a week since I found out and informed her I was pregnant, it's just that previously pregnant teachers have been swapped off the rota and given less risky alternatives (usually manning the library or alternative indoor play) and I have no idea why the goalposts have changed for me! Left school feeling very undervalued and very unmotivated!! Have a mountain of marking and filing to do but have had a strop and chosen to leave it all in work tonight. Now having a bath feeling guilty about said mountainous pile of marking and filing that will still greet me tomorrow!! Oh the hormonal joy of pregnancy!!

emz that doesn't sound very fair at all! Correct me if I've got completely the wrong person but you work for VoG, don't you? (If not then ignore my next comments, and blame baby brain!) when I met with school's personnel manager she said that if my duties were at inconvenient times or in cold open spaces that I could request to change - previous employees at my school have been given duties on days when they have ppa and are put inside the main building where they can just sit down! I'm sure my health and safety form was sent from VoG, surely it must be the same for primary and secondary?

She also Said I could have a desk fan and a stool for my feet! She also said that I should sit down when teaching whenever possible (which is a complete joke, but still!)

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 05/02/2015 21:20

Emz that does sound crap Hmm Mind you, I haven't had a H&S assessment at all... I asked to swap my PE teaching as I wasn't happy teaching gymnastics at all while pg and that's been sorted but nothing aside from that. Last school I was taken off break duties for about my last 6 weeks of work but not at this stage. The thing I'm finding hard is all the lifting of boxes of books/carting marking to and from home, not to mention falling over the kids!!! I am clearly taking up more room than I was!

We appointed my maternity cover yesterday. She's starting three weeks after I leave as no-one thought to check with me when I intended to go and my job share never listens had misremembered what I'd said I was aiming for. Awkward. I'm a bit gutted because I thought there would be some decent handover time, and that she could maybe pretty much do my last week for me while I took more of a TA role... Wishful thinking I know but I was hoping anyway!

Kyz · 05/02/2015 21:31

Gosh, took me ages to catch up, and the only thing I can remember to reply to is emz that doesn't sound fair at all!!!

back under my rock I go!

P.s. am 24 weeks today :)

Emz that sounds so unfair! I was taken off playground duty as soon as I recieved my risk assessment (even though i was only 10 weeks and thought it was silly) because there is a risk of children running into you/ footballs flying at your stomach/ slipping if it's icy etc. your employer hss a duty of care to ensure there are no risks to you or baby whilst working. You definitely shouldn't be climbing ladders at work. They should be covering their own backs more than anything. I'm up and down a ladder all the time at the mo decorating baby's nursery but it's my choice, not a job requirement. If you fell they'd be in a lot of trouble! Do you have a TA who can help with things like that? Only do what you feel safe and comfortable doing! You and baby come first Smile

Emz1989 · 05/02/2015 22:08

Fortunately kaybug I have an amazing TA in the mornings who is almost over-protective of me... Bless her!!
I think I just feel like a statistic, there are 3 of us pregnant and I understand that's bound to be causing management some headaches - I just think they're totally foolish to put us, and inevitably themselves, in any risky situation when it can fairly easily be adapted around us!
Wow - I feel like Moaning Myrtle this evening!! I've phoned my mum, auntie and best friend for a rant and have even logged in here and continued ranting! I'm going to open the pack of Maryland cookies I've been stashing and have a few with my cup of tea before bed!!!!
Seems like there's an awful lot of teachers among us!!

Emz1989 · 05/02/2015 22:09

And yes deutschy I do work for VoG x

kaybug · 05/02/2015 22:17

I know what you mean emz. can often be made to feel like an inconvenience! Great that you have a lovely TA tho - makes such a big difference!
Enjoy your tea and cookies! So jealous, been off tea since about week 5 and miss enjoying a good brew so have a dunk for me! :( hope my tastes change back after my lil boy arrives! Roll on June Grin

kaybug · 05/02/2015 22:19

And ye! Funny theres so many teachers who must've conceived around about going back to school after the summer hols time! must be a lucky time for us Wink

TheDetective · 05/02/2015 22:21

I still haven't had a risk assessment. I'm almost 21 weeks ffs! And you all know where I work!! How bad is that?!

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 05/02/2015 23:01

Haha kaybug, we were at a wedding the weekend before school went back and this one was conceived - I know absolutely because the summer had been written off from a dtd point of view as I was having a long bleed after mc, and I remember thinking it would be "it" til half term!!! GrinGrin Poor dh... I wonder if my libido will ever return Blush It disappeared with the conception of dd...

speedbird17 · 05/02/2015 23:10

Just checking in quickly, hope everybody is well. Lots of aches and pains this week, but been busy on holiday, so to be expected!

Will catch up when I'm back!

cuphat · 06/02/2015 07:20

Oh no, sunbathing.

I didn't have a risk assessment at all during my last pregnancy, despite it being compulsory. I just refused to do certain things. I work(ed - I'm still off) for the civil service. It doesn't surprise me.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 06/02/2015 07:44

I reminded my manager he needed to do my risk assessment yesterday. Granted I mostly sit down all day and the threat of footballs hitting my stomach or falling over children is non existent. Grin I am expected to do on site visits when auditing though (despite having video conferencing) but I'll play that by ear. My new manager seems relatively easy going so maybe won't push for the on site part.

Sun what a way to end the week!

Glad its Friday. Scan later...real excited as baby has been quite wriggly the past 24 hours.

Hope aches and pains don't bother people too much today and people have a generally alright Friday. Smile
