Haha. Maybe they felt sorry for the stupid bastard that was dumb enough to do it and took pity on me.

To make it worse it wasn't some back alley small car park. Its literally an open car park in the centre of our town, right next to a huge taxi rank and the towns bus park.

Don't know how I got away with it. Blush

PregnantAndEngaged · 03/02/2015 09:00

Blimey bubalou... glad your car was still there! That is a cracker though, hahah!

Chookford · 03/02/2015 10:13

Morning ladies

buba that is a brilliant baby brain story... one of the best I have heard.. you deserve some Cake for that!!! high five..

Have woken up to snow here today!! its bloody freezing.. am so glad our car is a 4 wheel drive so I can actually manage to get out and about! My dd was beside herself with excitment this morning.. she was a little upset to hear school was still open though Grin

Tryingreallyhard84 · 03/02/2015 10:21

chook - the downside of snow for children is when school is still open. like for adults, snow is great until you have to get out and about. Grin

bubalou · 03/02/2015 10:25

Haha, it does still make me laugh.

There are a few prams I want to look at.

I like the cossatto, there's also the uppababy vista and the silver cross wayfarer I want to look at but I've not seen any in real life.

About half hour from us in Essex is a big mamas and papas and a big mother care in the same town so planning to visit there next month to find a pram.

Smile
Chookford · 03/02/2015 10:32

trying she was most put out, she wanted to build a snowman! (I have to sing that in the voice of Anna from Frozen, otherwise its just not right!)

buba We went to that Mothercare just after xmas I like the Cosatto giggle range too so had a play with that, and I liked the Vista too... will be going back up next month to get one ordered I think!

TheDetective · 03/02/2015 10:35

I had the Giggle for DS. I sold it when he was 1. I have a Maclaren quest and a baby jogger city mini GT now.

I loved how the giggle looked, but had quite a few things which I didn't like with it. The car seats at the time didn't have a base so strapping it in and out the car all the time was a massive faff. Definitely get the seat which you can get the base for! Also, I'm 5ft2 and when using the carry cot, I couldn't see DS in it due to the bumper bar being right in my view. Dickhead was 6ft2 so he didn't have that issue. So I can only assume it's a short person problem Grin. Car seat was hard work lifting on and off chassis, could be quite stiff.

The main seat wasn't brilliant, in that DS always looked a little lopsided and unsupported. The straps loosened while on him, which drove me insane.

All prams have things which are annoying though! The cm GT has been fab though, my only annoyance with that is its heavy for me to lift folded.

I'm weighing up the oyster max and the new uppababy vista this time. I'll be keeping the other two prams I have, as I've found them useful for different things (mclaren good for going to crowded places as small, turns on a pin, good for buses etc) where as the cmgt is good for summer days, trips out (large uv hood, big basket) and loads of room for a toddler in it!

I do love prams :) I've been very good this time though as I had 11 with ds1 Blush.

Does anyone have any double recommendations? Must be able to be used as a single though! I tried the city select and hated it. So definitely not that one!

PregnantAndEngaged · 03/02/2015 10:54

I'd be careful with Cossatto, they had some terrible press on a few watchdog programmes because people were just strolling along with their baby in there, and then they were just collapsing forwards with the baby in there! Incredibly dangerous. And Cossatto said they'd fixed the problem, but then it was still happening, and people weren't able to get refunds just promises of an exchange for a non-faulty one (which in some instances was still just as dangerous). One lady was captured on CCTV strolling along when he pram collapsed and fell into a busy road, she panicked and was crying and a man had to come and help her get the pram out of the road.

Chookford · 03/02/2015 10:57

ok thanks ladies, I may have to rethink that one then! Dont want my poor little bubs rolling around in the road! Im short too detective 5"2 so I would have the same issue with not being able too see over the bar... they are attractive but if they are unsafe I will focus on the other ones I like!

TheDetective · 03/02/2015 11:02

I had a giggle from the first batch (I pre-ordered it when they first came out) and didn't have any problems what so ever, luckily.

It did worry me. Maybe I was lucky? Who knows! But mine was pretty sturdy, I regularly checked the hinge that broke on others, and could see no sign of wear and tear. I sold it in the end because I knew I wouldn't use it again for a new baby, due to the above issues! Grin.

AnythingNotEverything · 03/02/2015 12:07

Detective I have a 2012 Vista now with the double attachment, but the new Vista looks amazing. I would really recommend give it a good try in a shop. The basket is huge, and it works well as a single and a double, so will last the new baby a long time.

Out of all my friends the Vista users are the ones who haven't switched to a stroller yet. You'd have to wrestle mine from me Grin

I've said it before but I'll say it again Wink I'm a vista fan all the way. We also have the 2012 one and it's fab. We have got a stroller too but only because we were given it 2nd hand from someone who assumed we'd need it. I loathe pushing it and would always use the vista if dd didn't like the hideous pink of the stroller!

htf2 · 03/02/2015 17:12

The det did you say 11?? You just woke up every couple months and went 'oh my goodness, it's been at least 6 weeks since I bought a pram, better get to it!'?!
Tori I can't come to your antenatal class. I think I'd have had to leave at the point where DH needs intuition - sorry everyone, dont' mean to disturb, I'll just step around you but I don't qualify for this class. Anyone know any which caters for non-intuitive DHs?

A guy I work with has just told me he is glad I'm pregnant as he just thought I was tubby. Woo. I thought it was pretty blooming obvious and I don't look very tubby , guess I don't see myself as others do!

Chookford Bear in mind that the problems with the Giggle set was the old-style chassis. The ones on sale now are the Giggle 2 and they've changed the frame a bit and I think the way the wheels attach as well.

I was a bit worried from the reviews I found (and the Watchdog report from last year), but with a bit of research, and it being on offer and within my price range, I've decided to go with it and trust that Cosatto have learned from the fiasco with the faulty ones! If not, it's got a 4 year guarantee, so slightest hint of a problem and I shall be kicking up a storm.

The car seat that fits with the pram also fits with either an ISOFIX base or a seatbelt tethered base. Thanks to my car having underfoot storage in the back, I can't have a base anyway so will be faffing with the belt every time whichever car seat I got.

Tori I have rhinitis and am allergic to a lot of things I can't avoid (dust, mould spores, grass pollen, small animal dander), and mine's definitely been worse since I've been pregnant. I am prescribed a nasal spray and hayfever tablets though, so if it gets really bad it's possible your GP could do something?

Deutschybaby · 03/02/2015 18:57

Has anyone got/thinking of getting a Stokke pram? I really fancy the crusi one, but it's ridiculously expensive. My reasoning is based on - I was (gratefully) given a pram by my mum last time, and I'm planning on having a 3rd after this one. not sure if I could actually justify it though!

Chookford · 03/02/2015 18:58

forty thanks for that, I have been reading up on lots of reviews from all different sites and all the reviews have been glowing so I was thinking they must have sorted out the issue with the faulty chassis... It's within my budget too and I really like it so I may make the trip to mothercare and have a play.. Which design did you go for?!

AnythingNotEverything · 03/02/2015 19:29

Forty you can have those storage compartments filled in so you can have a prop leg.

Deutschy I've always thought Stokkes looks bit weird. Kind of robot like. And bloody hell they are dear ... Just did a quick google. I don't know anything about them to be honest though. Is there a good second hand market for them? Might be nice to recoup some of that expense later.

Emz1989 · 03/02/2015 21:14

I too read somewhere that the chassis issues had been sorted with the giggle 2... I really loved the funky look of the cosatto prams but dh had an issue with it being a 3-wheeler! I have no real idea why, he was just adamant I'd manage to tip it off a kerb or something! (Not himself may i add, just clumsy old me!!) there does seem to be a great offer on the cosatto giggle 2 in mothercare at the mo though if it's still on!
We've all but settled on the oyster 2 I think. Although I do love the mamas and papas armadillo flip too.... Such choice!
On another note - I've gone from feeling a teeny tiny flutter every couple of days to a really regular swooshing and prodding! Still a week away from the scan so it's been lovely that the flutters have picked up this week!

bubalou · 03/02/2015 22:20

Hi Emz.

I'm not keen on the 3 wheels but some of the photos I've seen they do a 4 wheel version?

Maybe I'm being thick. Smile

bubalou · 03/02/2015 22:30

Ignore me Emz. On the photo with the carry cot on top I assumed it was 4 wheels but I looked and it is 3.

Smile
Tranquilitybaby · 04/02/2015 06:58

Yes I have a mild dairy allergy that plays my sinuses and throat up if I have too much, it's got worse and I've noticed if I do have some dairy, I always throw up the next day too now.

Good luck to the scan girls today, that'll be me included. Going to test the sonographer's skills and make sure we have a little girl! Otherwise we gabe rather a lot of girly clothing! Wink

cuphat · 04/02/2015 07:34

Emz, someone we know had a three wheeler and DH managed to tip it over really easily! So I wouldn't get one personally!

I also personally wouldn't trust the giggles after watching Watchdog and the way that they dealt with the problem. It wasn't just something small - babies were in the collapsing pushchairs! And repairs were being done and it was still happening time and time again.

I had a wobble about the Peach Blossom we recently bought as I discovered that the weight limit per seat is 15kg which seems low. Looking into it, most pushchairs seem to have that limit as standard in the UK even if the same pushchair in another country says it takes a heavier weight so I've got over it. There were a couple that say they take more but they were either three wheeled or the reviews are bad re manoeuvrability. The weight limit wouldn't be an issue for most people but DD is (and has always been) on the 91st percentile line.

The icandys have amazing manoeuvrability which is important to me as i use the pushchair a lot so I'm sticking with the Peach. We currently have the original Strawberry - have the carrycot and pushchair and haven't found one fault with it, we'd happily stick with it if we didn't need a double. Can't wait till all of the Peach arrives. When you look at the price it doesn't seem too bad compared to some others but all the bits are separate (footmuff, adapters etc) so just adding those on cost us an extra few hundred!

And wow, bubalou! I'm sure I do that kind of thing without realising!

Good luck tranquility and everyone else with scans today.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 04/02/2015 08:04

good luck today's scanees Grin
