sarahsausage · 07/11/2006 19:41

Yay for you doggus!!

doggus · 07/11/2006 19:46

Thank you all, loads. I feel a bit better and much more up now I've eaten. We even got a little picture, a blurry bean.

Ludgie - I have got very cold hands and feet and I seem to be much more sensitive to hot and cold. One minute I am roasting and the next shivering.

Ludgie · 07/11/2006 20:02

Thank god I'm not going completely soft. I'm sitting wrapped up in a huge fluffy dressing gown (over my clothes) with my dd on my lap for extra warmth. We must have just polished off an entire bag of satsumas between us.
Wish I could have a scan. It would make it all much more real. I'm booked in on the 12th December and it seems ages away.

marylou23 · 07/11/2006 21:30

So pleased you mentioned the cold business - I thought I'd be too hot (all that extra blood rushing around), but I've been sitting on the sofa covered in a blanket most evenings and surreptitiously turning up the thermostat when dh isn't looking... Great news about the scan doggus! It's always such a relief.

sputnik · 08/11/2006 09:18

Well I had my first gyn apt yesterday, all is well and she even did a quick scan so I too have a little pic of a blurry bean which has made me ridiculously happy. She didn't even try to find the heartbeat though, which doesn't bother me as from what I've read on here it can be pretty hit and miss whether they find it so early.
I now have dates for when I should be doing all my scans etc. and tomorrow have to begin the tedious process of booking them all. I envy you lot in the UK where it is all automatic, here you have to sort it all yourself and hope your local hospital isn't fully booked already and chase round or go private if not, just the kind of relaxing passtime you need when pg. At least this time I'm prepared.

We broke the news to family and some close friends at a dinner last night, they were all ecstatic but there seems to be a definite expectation I should produce a boy this time to balance things out. I'm not bothered either way myself.

BTW my gyn seems to have changed her mind since last time over the wine thing and is now saying a glass a day with a meal (I never did the 2 glasses a day anyway as seemed excessive to me!) is fine. I think that's the french advice too. I think by xmas I may be taking her up on that!

Congrats to other successful scanees too

twinkle5 · 08/11/2006 11:07

just told my boss, and she was really nice! Bit surprised as she is not usually really nice (and I've only been there a few months ) Had no choice really as I'm suffering so badly with MS there was no way I was going to be teaching a class on ten year olds this week!

marylou23 · 08/11/2006 12:02

Is anyone else falling asleep (quite literally) during the day? I'm v. lucky in that I work for myself from home so have some flexibility, but it's getting ridiculous - this morning, for instance, got up at 8, at my computer by 9, back in bed by 10.30 because I wandered into the bedroom to get something and before I knew it, I'd slipped under the covers!! Just woke up about five minutes ago... I'm usually a real morning person, too. Hey ho. I'm telling myself it's because I'm having twins and they take more energy, but I'm beginning to think I'm just a complete wimp!

Taffindra · 08/11/2006 12:40

Am having real sleep problems too - probably due to husband snoring, and he also insists that our two v.large cats sleep on the bed, and they also snore. DS also has hacking cough all night, so its not making for a good nights sleep! We are actually in bed, and asleep by 9pm most nights - utterly tragic. DS also insists on v.early mornings, so he's up by 6.30am - I could really do with a lie-in.
Am totally obsessed with cereal and cold milk, and fruit. How healthy! Is all sushi of the list as well? I have a real hankering for it....

Ludgie · 08/11/2006 13:28

I'm spending so much of my time being tired and sadly crabby and am in bed by 10 at the latest, but I keep waking up in the night. Ususally go to the loo whether I need to or not and then collapese back in bed.

Not sure about the Sushi, would guess that it's a no no but smoked salmon is a bit of a grey area so you might get away with it. Unless veggie sushi would do. THat should be safe shouldn't it!?

BouncyTigger · 08/11/2006 13:33

Managed to contact my midwife today and have booked my first appt for next thursday. Really looking forward to it as we have a one-to-one midwife service here so she's the same midwife as I had for DD. Got a scan date as well - 4th Dec so I'll be 13 weeks which should mean we get a good picture.
Have stopped feeling sick all day long now, but still have to make sure I eat regularly. DH home late last night so planned to eat once DD in bed at 7pm, by 6.30 was being sick cos I hadn't had my dinner. Must remember to have toast if he's late tonight.

doggus · 08/11/2006 14:02

LOL, taffindra, at the thought of you surrounded by snorers, I have never had a snoring cat and you have two! Well done sputnik on your scan, and as you say, don't worry about the heartbeat. I got told mine was 'faint' which could be worrying but the doc reassured me, so i am chilled.

Bouncytigger, what are your dates as you are giving me hope that the ms may subside?

As for you lot going to bed early, I am the opposite. I have always been a night bird and am currently kipping at around 2am with very interrupted sleep. Luckily dh and I work from home, and our hours start at 2.30pm so I have literally crawled from bed now. How a baby is going to fit in with these hours I don't know!

Daisybump · 08/11/2006 14:08

Not posted for over a week and have just spent my lunch hour catching up!! mammoth task.
MS getting worse and had to have a duvet day last Friday...it's escalated from feeling sick to being sick...threw up in the shower this morning...which was nice
I'm feeling sick till about three o'clock then I want to crawl under my desk and sleep. Nausea starts again when I getr in the car to draive home and won't go away...can't face food in the evening, but if I don't force something down I'm a wreck the next day. Having big big cravings for things I can't eat...I have gluten intolerance and the thought of toasted crusty white bread has me salivating!!! Also feeling very cold and spending a lot of time under a furry throw, but I think that has to do with low blood sugar and tiredness. Still, 8+3 today so hopefully things will get better soon.

BouncyTigger · 08/11/2006 14:22

Doggus, am nearly 10 weeks. Ms loads worse this time, was hardly sick with DD and that was only brought on by the smell of certain foods. Really glad that it's tailing off, hope yours does soon too.

MagicGenie · 08/11/2006 14:35

Daisybump - I remember being sick in the shower last time - it's awful, but at least there's not much to clean up (hopeful emoticon!) And I just COULD NOT clean my teeth without pewking everywhere.

As I said on an earlier post, I'm really feeling for all of you with MS...it's awful and I hope it doesn't last too long.

Yeah, no sushi Taffindra. Shame I know.

TALLULAHBELLE · 08/11/2006 17:46

Hi All,
TWINKLE - am interested in how you're coping at work with the ms. I'm a primary teacher and am so nauseous in class in the afternoons, I worry about what I will do if I actually have to puke. I'm also not sure when to spill the beans to my HT. I have a scan at end of Nov and didn't want to say to anyone before then, especially not work colleagues. But then how do I get the time off work to go?

Glad to hear everyone else sleeping loads too - I'm in bed by 9:30 every night but lying on the coach from 6pm onwards with barely the energy to flick the remote control.Actually, am in my jammies already and only got home an hour ago

twinkle5 · 08/11/2006 18:09

Tallulah, basically I only work 2 days a week, I first started actually being sick during half term, I then called in sick for my 2 days last week. I am supposed to be at work tomorrow but am still throwing up all afternoon each day so I saw no other option than telling the HT today. HT was very nice and agreed that a classroom isn't an option when being sick! I have said that I will def go in next week and if necessary they will have to arrange cover for the afternoon! It really is a bad job for MS- one of the few times I'd rather be behind a desk in an office!

twinkle5 · 08/11/2006 18:15

Tallulah, just wanted to add that I understand how you feel about not wanting anyone to know- we haven't told our parents yet so it does feel odd that the HT knows! I don't count them as a normal person though

sarahsausage · 08/11/2006 20:37

Good evening ladies!

I am a very happy Sarahsausage as i passed my theory test this afternoon! 35/35 for multiple choice and (ahem) 49 out of 75 for hazard perception. Bloody thing kept saying i clicked too many times when i clicked every potential hazard but whatever i passed woooohoooo!!!!!!

As for sleeping, i'm ashamed to say i don't have my dds in a proper routine at the moment (am waiting until we are settled in new house before i start trying to fix it! - no idea when we are moving but it will be soon hopefully.) so i'm lucky if i get to bed before 10:30pm.

Well i think i need a sandwich......

bumperlicious · 08/11/2006 20:59

Well done SS. I think that's what I got for HP actually - what a pants test! Do you have a driving test booked yet? I took 4 tests and hated it, was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, though I have never looked back since!

Glad I'm not the only one going to bed early, plus regularly waking in the middle of the night. Haven't slept a full night through in about 3 weeks!

Not being sick, but feeling pretty nauseous, especially when I haven't eaten in a while. Craving junk food at the moment. Made DH take me to get KFC at 9.30 last night - I hate KFC! Can eat at least but only very specific things and never the same thing twice!

Ran for the bus yesterday - BIG mistake. Got on hyperventilating and worrying that I might have had to tell the driver to stop and let me throw up! Won't be doing that again.

Still cheered myself up today with a trip to the hairdresser who also put my hair up in a beautiful french pleate (sp?) which I will never be able to replicate - all for free as she was a student. Definitely cheered me up!

Hope you all feel better soon By the way, when you say you are feeling sick do you find everyone goes 'ginger biscuits, ginger beer, ginger tea'?! Honestly, I want to vomit just thinking about ginger!

doggus · 08/11/2006 21:15

If one more person says ginger biscuits to me I will swing for them. Or bloody cream crackers for that matter.

Well done SS!

K1K2 · 08/11/2006 21:56

Hi all I am not sure if I have posted on this thread yet , but I have put myself on the stats ( I think). Due 10.06.07. Joining the many other sufferers on the MS debate - its really getting me down - if I'm not being sick or feeling nauseous ( which is most of the time , especially towards the end of the day) I have severe hyperacidity burning my stomach, followed by indigestion when I 've managed to eat something. I take the usual remedies ( and yes, I am sick of ginger biscuits too -I have only been eating them less than a week!) I've seen "preg pops" mentioned on some threads, that helps in some cases, could anyone enlighten me as to what they are are where to get them ?Presumably any good chemist I suspect. I am hoping by Christmas this phase will be all over then I can start to enjoy my food again. Good luck to all for the early days -keeping things nice and sticky, and not too queasy!

doggus · 08/11/2006 22:15

Hi K1K2 and welcome to the Death to Ginger Biscuits Club. I bought some Preggie Pops online (can't remember where from, google it, UK only). They taste lovely and I use them when I am caught out and about with low blood sugar. I don't know if they help much, my ms has a mind of its own and is entirely random.

My mum described her ms as 'the feeling you get when you read a book in the car' and that's what is happening to me, with retching, and a headache. I'm never actually sick, but have come very close, partic when shopping.

trace2 · 09/11/2006 09:24

hi to all newbies, and hi K1K2! thanks for asking about me on other thread, not been around for2 weeks had probs with me and internet so missed every thing on here.

where is all the ones who started out on this thread, like natty and thomas and jucy?

dose anyone know if preggy popps work?

alfiemoo · 09/11/2006 09:57

Hi all hope ur all ok today. I posted a msg ages ago but haven't been on since. Am 8 weeks this week, no ms thank goodness, but am having the most awful headaches - does anyone else have this? Only started this week and if I don't wake up with one I get one later in the day. Am so exhausted by the time I get home from work I just sit like a zombie in front of telly(hence no posting on here!. I don't really want to take paracetamol every day, just trying to drink loads of water. Hopefully they'll go away soon, maybe it's my version of ms?!

lilKel · 09/11/2006 10:58

LOL 'Death to Ginger Biscuits Club' !!! I felt the same, wanted to hit the next person who said, ooh just take some ginger!! GAHHH!!!

Preggie pops seem to help settle things for me, albeit temporarily. Very good emergency food if you're stuck with no idea what to eat. Which seems to happen at least 20 times a day...

Headaches - I found these were linked to me stopping the coffee consumption. Took a week or two to go away, and Paracetemol does help and it's not all that evil. Water is a def must as well.

NO SCAN DATE YET and it's starting to worry me...just a nuchal scan and not a dating scan date. Odd?
