Good morning ladies.

Welcome victoriaboo! fingers crossed for you hun x

Well, i'm trying to put off getting ready because i can't be bothered with the huge walk to nursery, yet again. I think i may cheat today and get the bus, that's if they let me on with my phil and teds. Stupid bus company decided that you can't take 3-wheelers on the bus. Even though it is smaller than the 4 wheeler doubles but there you go.

I have my theory test tomorrow and i'm really nervous. I NEED to be able to drive before this baby arrives.

Anyone else still to have booking appts or has everyone seen a midwife? I still haven't made an appt yet... must get on that today.

Good luck with the scan doggus!

sputnik · 07/11/2006 10:06

That's discrimination SS! It's hard enough taking kids, buggies etc on public transport without that kind of hassle.
Best of luck for tomorrow.

The pre-washed salad thing: first, they prepare bagged salad with chlorine (best avoided at the moment), and second there's a possibility of contamination. There was a huge scare in the US recently about bagged spinach contaminated with Ecoli (one dead, many ill). The simple solution seems to be to wash it again yourself!

I had an Italian friend who nearly rang social services last time I was pregnant because I ordered a spinach pasta dish. Spinach should only be eaten by pregnant women if washed at home, under close supervision, AT LEAST SEVEN TIMES, he claimed. He also thought strawberries were tantamount to infanticide. Go figure.

I've lost a stone now due to this stupid ms. I'm eating a Snickers bar if I feel like it, peanuts or no!

But everyone missing their peanut butter toast should try cashew nut butter. It's very nice and you can get it in most health food shops. It's just peanuts that (possibly, maybe, there's no real scientific proof) cause a problem.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 07/11/2006 13:52

the food thing is always and interesting one - different countries recommend not eating different things - in France soft cheese is still on the menu for pg women for example.

marylou23 · 07/11/2006 14:06

Okay, so the good news is, no morning sickness today (and I had a scan yesterday, everything looking v. healthy, so I'm not getting all worried that no ms means that something's wrong). However, the bad news is that my appetite has absolutely exploded. I'd eaten my lunch by 11.30 and have just had a second one, and very nice too . And if anyone tells me I can't eat bruschetta with lots of melted (cheddar) cheese on it, then... well, just don't tell me, okay? It was delicious. So if any of you are worried because you're losing weight (I did for the first couple of weeks, too), then fear not because if you're anything like me, you'll be gaining it back within the space of about two days!!

annobal · 07/11/2006 14:12

I've just had a letter for my scan - end of November! At that stage I will either be 9 wks or 13 wks (am unsure of dates as had a light period or bleed). I didn't realise that some hospitals only offer the 20 week scan.

I've just had a sausage roll for lunch - very tasty. I normally hate them (along with any red meat) but have had cravings for them all week. Please don't tell me if they are on the forbidden list - esp as I can't eat swordfish now! Can you eat fresh tuna?

annobal · 07/11/2006 14:13

BTW great news on the scan MaryLou!

marylou23 · 07/11/2006 14:35

Thanks! I think there must be something about sausage rolls and pregnancy - I was obsessing about them the other day!

marylou23 · 07/11/2006 14:36

Oh, and yes you can eat tuna - although they suggest no more than 2 steaks a week (tinned is fine).

MagicGenie · 07/11/2006 14:48

Hi - how is everyone?

STILL no sickness here, perhaps I'm going to get away without it this time?! The sore bosoms and tiredness are meking up for it, though.

Really missing my evening glass of wine with my meal.

annobal · 07/11/2006 15:39

I know what you mean about the evening glass of wine - if you are anything like me though, when you sucumb and allow just one glass, the nicest wine tastes like cheap vinegar!

Having salmon for dinner tonight - DH will be preparing thankfully...

Ludgie · 07/11/2006 16:10

Any ideas on Smoked Salon? Pretty sure I ate it last time but not sure if I was supposed to.

Ludgie · 07/11/2006 16:11

That was salmon .

annobal · 07/11/2006 16:17

Don't think you are meant to as it isn't cooked.

Ludgie · 07/11/2006 16:31

oops, that's what I'd been worried about. Ah well there's another thing off the list!

lilKel · 07/11/2006 16:42

Hi all and glad to see we're keeping our sense of humour in the face of all this confusing 'information' about what you can and can't do! I'm a bit radical I guess having eaten peanut butter at least twice a week with my last pg and same again this time round. Though we have no allergies in our family, so guess it's ok.

I checked on smoked salmon as it was one of the only things I could eat last time & this time - and the risk is from listeria as with cold meats. However the risk in the UK is very low apparently and if it's fresh there should be no concern. Thank goodness

Main meals at the moment: cereal, toast with honey or peanut butter, cereal, nutrigrain bars, alpen bars, cereal (see a theme here??) x x

Ludgie · 07/11/2006 16:45

Weetabix seems to be my saviour at the moment. It's about all I can manage until about half 5 in the evening and then I turn into a bit of an animal!!!

lilKel · 07/11/2006 16:50

I was also a big consumer of cheese cannelloni from M&S last time round. Something about bechemel sauce...

Anybody remember, if you do the cotton & needle test for gender, whether circles mean a boy or girl?

TALLULAHBELLE · 07/11/2006 17:22

Sputnik - is that really 2 glasses of wine a DAY, I was told 2 units alcohol a WEEK? Would make me feel better about what I consumed before the positive pregnancy test.

annobal · 07/11/2006 17:26

Yay to smoked salmon! I seem to be obsessed by sausage rolls and dried mango this time round (with ds1 it was steamed chicken and boiled potatoes - ds2 it was fried chicken and chips ). Am liking the idea of toast and honey - may even add some peanut butter if I'm feeling a little risque!

Ludgie · 07/11/2006 18:08

Is anyone else suffering from really cold hands and toes. I don't seem to be able to warm them up again. Probably just being a wuss but thought I'd ask

bumperlicious · 07/11/2006 18:40

My staple diet is chocolate cornflakes and boiled sweets at the moment. At the weekend I ate a packet of crisps - I NEVER eat crisps! Plust last week I ate McDonald's even though I think it is evil and threated to divorce DH is he ever takes our child there! - go figure! Sausages as well. Bang goes my healthy eating, I'll be the size of a house in a couple of weeks! There is no way this baby is not going to a have a sweet and junkfood tooth!

doggus · 07/11/2006 19:09

Hi all, had my scan today. He tried to do an external but we had a slight missing uterus problem. Finally we saw a tiny flickering jelly bean, hurrah - he says I am 6 w 4 d, not 7 weeks as I thought. The heartbeat was 'quite faint' but that's 'normal' at this time. Back for another in three weeks. I'm happy, dh ecstatic, but to be brutally honest I feel so nauseous it is hard to be ecstatic.

As an aside we paid £200 for this private scan and we still had to wait for 40 minutes! One more, in three weeks, and then I am NHS all the way.

Ludgie · 07/11/2006 19:17

So glad everything was well doggus.

annobal · 07/11/2006 19:19

That's great news! Hope the MS gets better soon!
