I'm really sorry about the twin. Do let yourself be upset about it though if you need to. Lemon and honey is always a good one for a cold... and sleep.

We're just coming through the other side of coughs and colds - with DS1 at 3 and DS2 almost 2, they tend to pass things to each other and me. So not only am I sleep deprived, I also have a rotten cold and MS. Sorry for the moan, just feeling sorry for myself. All I can say is thank god for Nick Jr as it is happily occupying the LO while I curl up on the couch...

Daisybump · 05/12/2006 18:24

Marylou...really sorry about the loss of one of your babies. It must be a great consolation that the remaining one is fighting fit, but as annobal says, you should allow yourself to grieve a bit now, otherwise it may knock you for six when you least expect it. Take it easy (well as easy as you can with two toddlers to contend with) and keep well.
For the cold you could always try the hot toddy without the whisky (i know, what's the point....) and get some menthol crystals (think that's safe but check with the chemist) for some steam inhalation. Alternatively, if you can, drop the kids off at their grandparents/other relative and go back to bed for the day or ask your DP/DH to take the day off work!
Take Care xx

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/12/2006 19:56

Sorry to hear that Marylou. Will be thinking of you.

doggus · 05/12/2006 20:08

I'm really sorry to hear your news Marylou. Take care, feel better.

LickleRach · 05/12/2006 21:19

Hello ladies, I'm new to this thread having jumped off the July 07 thread after finding out today at my scan that I am actually due on 27th June ...so 10 weeks and 5 days pregnant apparently.

MaryLou so sorry to hear your news . I haven't been through what you are going through so can only imagine what you are feeling. Your fighting little one sounds like my little one...lots of acrobatics which is so amazing to see isn't it! Take care.

Look forward to getting to know you all better in the coming months!

doggus · 05/12/2006 22:34

Welcome on board, licklerach, I am due at the end of June, too. How pg did you think you were? Is it your first?

PocketTasha · 06/12/2006 00:11

Hi everyone, haven't been by for a while. Had my first scan yesterday. All is well with baby, found that my dates are basicly spot on. i'm 11+3. due on the 24th june. I was also told at the scan that i have a fibroid? has anyone here had anything like that? not sure what expect.

Glad everyone is ok. Smiles and sadness for you marylou. Congratulations on your heathly baby, but as others have said, allow yourself to grieve.

BouncyTigger · 06/12/2006 10:46

Hi everyone, haven't posted for a bit. Had scan on monday - was fantastic so much better than with DD, picture was so clear we could see arms, legs and even it's nose. Was so impressed. Dates been put back 3 days to 11th June.

So sorry for your sad news Marylou, will be thinking of you.

sputnik · 06/12/2006 13:02

Sorry to hear about your news Marylou, but it sounds like you're keeping on the positive side, which is great. Give yourself a bit of cosseting with that cold of yours, sleep is probably the best thing for you. Hot chocolate too maybe?

Daisybump · 06/12/2006 13:18

Hi LickleRach and welcome to this thread. you'll have a lot of reading to catch up with everyone...maybe it's time to renew the stats, if I get a chance over the weekend I might just do that.
All these scans, it's getting quite exciting. Had mine this morning and got a wave !! They've changed my dates too and I'm nearly a week more pregnant than I thought! I've now gone from 18 June (by dates) to 15 June (by scan I had three weeks ago) to 10 June today. Means I'm now 13+3 so almost, but not quite, into the second trimester. The dates would be about right as the same happened with DS and I know from that surprise (he wasn't exactly planned, even though I wouldn't be without him now) and previous two mcs that I ovulate very early in my cycle. It's either that or I'm on some kind of fast track program and will be done by mid April!!
Can spread the news now with my Christmas cards..I've been waiting to write them until I was sure things were OK

catkin555 · 06/12/2006 15:06

May I join?

My EDD for my first LO is 24th June and i have my 12 wk scan tomorrow!!

I'm really excited but also panicking with irrational fears about it. It doesn't help that I have the flu and have been off work all week with only the dog for company!

doggus · 06/12/2006 17:22

Hi catkin555 and welcome on board. We're mostly all panicking so you will fit right in!

Well done on all the scans everyone else, I have to wait til the 19th Dec for the nuchal, which I guess will be a combined dating one too.

Pocket-tasha, I have 'diffuse' fibroids too, which they saw on my first scan. I had no idea. They are not a problem apparently unless they grow alongside the baby, which they can do, and if that happens you may have to have a Caesarian. I may be talking cobblers but I think that was what the Obst. said. I read somewhere on mumsnet about some poor woman whose fibroid was bigger than the bub - but that was a bit of a medical rarity

bumperlicious · 06/12/2006 17:47

Hi all,

Hope you are all well and coming out the other side of MS etc (I'm feeeling much better but can't shake the tiredness yet - could be the time of year though).
Marylou, so sorry to hear about your news but big hug to you and the bub for a safe rest of pregnancy. Miscarriage must be such a hard thing, mainly because you just have no frame of reference for how to deal with it, most people will have experience people they know dying, but an unborn baby that you've never met? It's hard to know how you should be feeling. Also in your case, like you say you have a happy healthy baby, but still need to grieve for the one you lost, even more confusings feelings. Big hugs anyway (sorry for the rambling).

Thanks to Doggus and Daisybump and the rest of your for your empathy - it's good to know I'm not just a weirdo (or if I am at least I am not alone [fswink])
Thanks for the heads up on the books, I think I'm going to get the Haynes Manual for DH. And I might check the other one out too. I've also for the 'What to expect..' book which I really like (mainly because there are no Miriam Stoppard scary pictures!) but I actually haven't been reading it hardly at all. I so though I would be someone who got all the books and read them cover to cover! But not in the slightest. Mumsnet is much more informative - and you can guarantee a balance of opinions!
I have a scan booked on Friday so I will report back then, and see if it triggers any maternal bonding with my baby (or else just makes me want to go home and down a bottle of wine whilst watching trshy dvds!) [fsgrin]

bumperlicious · 06/12/2006 17:49

Ammended with smilies coz I appear to have lots some braincells and can't read instructions properly any more!

PocketTasha · 07/12/2006 13:37

HI doggus

I am really confused about the whole fibroid thing. I was told that it looks like it is quite big, but i've had two babies before and it's never been seen or mentioned. Does that mean it's new, or just unseen before? And my youngest isn't even two! I hope i don't have to have a cesarean (sp!) with two kids already, trying to recover from a c section would be my idea of a nightmare. I was told it could grow with the pregnancy, i just hope not too much!

marylou23 · 07/12/2006 15:12

Hi guys,
Thanks for all your kind words. I'm fine now, really (apart from stinking cold... grrr) but feeling a bit fragile - even though the scan showed our (now singleton) baby looking really healthy, I can't seem to shake the idea that it could still all go horribly wrong. I think the problem is that I had a scan at nine weeks and saw two v. healthy beans with two strong heartbeats - just three days later (by the measurements) one of them just wasn't strong enough to survive. I know everyone says that 12 week scan is really significant and that you're pretty safe after that, but I have to confess I'm not really feeling that 'safe'. I guess I'm just nervous - this is my first pregnancy, so I don't have anything to compare it to; also, there were no signs that one of the twins hadn't made it until the scan - I'd always assumed that I'd bleed or something if things went wrong...
Still, sorry to ramble, and very happy to hear everyone's news. Waving on scans is great isn't it? Only problem is that on our print-out it looks like the bub is sticking two fingers up. Can they issue prenatal asbos?

PocketTasha · 07/12/2006 15:49

mary lou about the prenatal asbos!

Glad you are ok, dispite the cold. I understand you feeling anxious but try to relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. It'll all be better when you can feel your little bub moving around. It's a source of great reassurance when you get to that stage.

sputnik · 07/12/2006 15:53

I guess something like that is really bound to shake your confidence, it wil probably take a while to regain it. Can't advise on how to help really, just send a few positive vibes your way.

NattyandThomasandBump · 07/12/2006 18:54

Hullo guys!!!

Hi all, welcome to all the new faces!
Been ages since my last post. Feeling heaps better with more energy so think the worst of the ms is past. Had my scan today and it was just lovely. Got another live wire who wouldn't keep still through out. Have had my edd changed to the 24th June which puts me a few days ahead of what we first thought, which was a pleasant suprise. Lovely clear pic of baby's profile and wee arms waving about.

Sorry to read your news Taichimum. Marylou, things must be bittersweet for you just now, hope the coming few weeks put your fears at rest.

Congrats on all the scans so far, it's nice to think we're all not far off hitting the second trimester. Chat soon, x

doggus · 07/12/2006 23:07

Hi pocketasha, I am completely confused about the fibroid thing too. I had a laproscopy only last year and none were there then. Maybe it comes with your pg because of all the hormones? All I was told was that I had 'quite a few' (!), none of them too big and they would look at them again on my 12 week scan, on the 19th. So I will let you know if I get any more info...It's like those old wives' tales, isn't it, 'she had a fibroid as big as a football, you know'...

sputnik · 08/12/2006 08:12

Welcome to Catkin555 and Liklerach, and welcome back Ingalls and Nattyandthomasandbump, it's great to see you as I'm sure I'm not the only one who wonders whether everything is ok with people who haven't posted in a while.
It's nice to see more of us out the other side of MS too, hopefully we'll all get to enjoy our xmas dinners
N&T&B you felt your baby move, I am !

Cocobear · 08/12/2006 08:34

Haven't posted for ages. Sickness nearly gone... have even put on a few pounds (after losing 15 in earlier weeks!). Had the nuchal scan and all looked well, which is reassuring. Little bubba looked a bit bigger the his/her dates, so all the weight loss didn't hurt any. Is anyone going for the down's/spina bifida screening blood tests (triple test?)?

sputnik · 08/12/2006 11:03

Hooray Cocobear, you're another one I was wondering about, last seen headed for South Africa with extreme MS! So glad you're feeling better and had a good scan.

lildrummerKel · 08/12/2006 16:34

Hiya all, and welcome back NT&B long time no see!!

Sooo excited, got date for the next scan - 19 Jan. But goodness the wait seems soooo long. 6 weeks. Gaaahhhh. Now I'm just waiting to feel the little thing moving. Not quite 15 weeks yet though, so trying to be patient. . I'm just no good at this waiting thing....

Glad you're doing well too Coco was wondering. What did you finally find that was worth eating??
