I think I might have leaked a bit because I had what looked like dried milk on nipples (after a v rare DTD) but not enough to actually wear a pad or anything. Or could just be imagining it of course. Know what you mean though catsofa, it was strangely exciting!

Nappies - I'll be going pampers. Aldi is a 10-15 drive each way so defo not worth the hassle with two DCs to get in and out of car and no way am I wasting precious potential nap time while DD at nursery (and baby hopefully sleeping in Moses basket!).

On pram/ snow suits I have a furry tan one from when DD little that will be one fine for a boy. Will defo be needing it for baby bjorn when I'm dashing to get DD to nursery on time in the morning and can't be doing with the buggy.

Been out for lunch and now we're all on the sofa under blankets watching Frozen. I'm in my pjs and everything with tea and baklava. DD is singing along and it's very cute I am having a bit of a weep! Hormones!

BrixtonBunny · 25/01/2015 17:20

Since around 16 weeks when I squeeze my nipple a little drop comes out. I've still not told DP as I want to make the most of the last few weeks of my boobs being sexy, rather than someone's lunch Wink

Had a bit of a hormonal weep on DP yesterday along the lines of "oh god what are we doing having a baby, are we mad". Feel a lot better today, think I needed to vent some of my anxiety! Today I'm back to being excited, built the baby's changing table / drawers.

londonlivvy · 25/01/2015 18:21

I've got a snowsuit for 3-6 months (from last time, sincerely hope that I wouldn't need it this time!!) but for 0-3 months DD2 should be cozy inside the moby wrap and inside my jacket, or in the cocoon in the phil and teds. I only found the snowsuit v handy when I used the baby Bjorn type carrier we had to go for a walk. Other than that, blankets work fine. I'd say not worth buying one given the seasons, unless you live in Scotland? The other problem with snow suits is that if you then go into a shop or wherever then you have to take it off so they don't overheat. Bit of a faff. Blankets easier IMO.

No milk production here yet, and didn't until dd was born last time so not anticipating any. I could yet be surprised tho!!

And DH and I may finally finally have agreed on a name. That has taken a long time. Gutted he wouldn't agree to ildica (which was my fave name) but ultimately it's his child too so he has to like the name.

Hidingthefear · 25/01/2015 18:50

Oh so not just me then kismac

No leaky bobs here yet at 28+6 but I'm not complaining. Watched a fee useful videos on breastfeeding on YouTube my mothercare. Can't link on my phone but it you go to mothercares chanel they have a bit just on breastfeeding.

I've got a pack of nappies in size 0 1 and 2 just 25 of each for now. Size 2 are pampers but only because they were on offer.

FiRaffe · 25/01/2015 19:40

Our local hospital says we have to take 40 nappies in. I have no idea what size(s) - any suggestions ladies? It seems overkill but would rather have everything they suggest at least in the car!!!

BananaToast · 25/01/2015 19:49

I noticed small yellow marks on the inside of my bra last weekend and the same has continued since. If I squeeze I can get a few drops out. Hope this doesn't mean I'm going to leak loads before baby even arrives but nice to know things are happening.

Fi 40 nappies is much more than I had expected to need to take, I thought 20 would be plenty. If we end up having to stay in for a few days DH can always bring more in.

Lauren82000 · 25/01/2015 19:49

That seems quite a lot. How long are you planning on staying for? I'm just taking the small pack of size 1's with me DH can make himself useful if we need any more than that. (I'll have plenty stocked at home in at least size 1&2) I really don't remember changing DD's nappy that much in hospital and we were in for a week! I just remember her being mostly asleep and me being quite bored between visitors.

TheBooMonster · 25/01/2015 19:53

blimey fir 40? I'd say get size 1 but be ready for someone to pop out and get size 0 if baby is teeny.

grumble grumble sulk MiL will not be shifted, she's convinced there's nothing wrong with the steam steriliser despite the fact the water comes out yellow-orange after a single cycle which I'm pretty certain isn't right! Gonna have to sabotage the bloody thing and get some milton anyway We very nearly had a serious disagreement earlier about general baby equipment, she's even against me buying a new mattress for the crib, I'm of the impression that given all the information out there about SIDS I'd rather spend £13 on a new mattress then put the baby at risk of SIDS and having to pay out for a much more expensive than £13 funeral because we were so desperate to save money Angry best bitchy blunt face Just as well I've not mentioned my recent papoozle sling spend to anyone, I'll just have to hope it doesn't arrive on a day that anyone else is home so there won't be a bloody debate about it >.>

My boobs have felt damp a few times, but no full out leaking, and they get distractingly uncomfortable and tingly every time a baby cry near me Blush

TheBooMonster · 25/01/2015 19:55

Also, got bitched out by a customer today because I was serving slowly due to branson hicks, I gave the arsehole whatfor and he put down his shopping and left red-faced. Don't mess with the pregnant lady!

TinyTear · 25/01/2015 20:19

Knackered. 8 3 year olds aren't easy to entertain. But dd's party went well!

cinnamongreyhound · 25/01/2015 20:26

Lay on your back and you can usually feel more AnniaFausta, the head is hard and the bum is too but not as hard. You get an idea of position from where you get kicks too. Midwife will feel for a head in your pelvis from 28 weeks on.

They can be both BrixtonBunny! You'll be surprised that they can perform both functions and feel totally different although dh did have to get used to drinking a bit, he seemed happy enough about it!

It's your baby, sterilise how you want TheBooMonster!!!! Sorry to hear about the customer too.

Seeing as I am now becoming more of an expert than I wanted to on the urinary system in babies, apparently most take up to 24hrs to do their first wee so won't need lots of changing to begin with. I changed mine pretty much as I fed them in the beginning as they are so tiny, so 6-10 nappies a day, after the first day.

Glad it went well TinyTear!

Ah Boo sorry you've had a rough day. Good for you though standing up for yourself with that man. My debatably useful advice for MiL would be... Don't tell her anything!

Wow firaffe as a first timer I don't have much idea exactly how many nappies I will need but 40 sounds like a lot! I think the pampers newborn that I have go from 6-10lb or something like that so quite a wide range of weight. As others mentioned someone can always pop out and get more for you.

londonlivvy how exciting that you have agreed a name! We haven't yet.. Really struggling for girls names which I thought would be easier than boys but seems not. Will have to start having a serious think about it. And glad I'm not the only one whose boobs aren't doing anything, not that I want to be leaking particularly but good to know it doesn't mean there will be a problem Smile

FiRaffe · 25/01/2015 20:39

Thanks all - it's on the hospital list (along with all the things you'd expect). Will pack a few and send DH if we need more!

I'm a first timer top penguin - looking for help wherever I can find it!!!

Good news on the name londonlivvy. We've got 1 girls name that DH turned around and said he sometimes likes, sometimes doesn't the other day (helpful!) And a handful of boys names, but need to work out some combinations!

Lauren82000 · 25/01/2015 20:46

My nipples occasionally feel a bit greasy but no leakage unless I squeeze a bit. Wink

catsofa · 25/01/2015 20:49

Wow Boo my advice for MiL would be PUNCH HER IN THE FACE! But I'm getting occasional proper preggers rage so that could be a very slight overreaction...

I've been trying to work out which way round baby is too, I felt some good solid bits of baby yesterday when I had my hand on my belly for a while, and thought I had a handful of either head or bum, with a smaller wiggly bit near it that must have been either arm or leg. He's just getting the hang of kicking me in the bladder properly, what a clever boy Hmm.

I'm glad that other people agree with regards to my MiL, wasn't sure if I was just being precious and childish :S Ranted at DH a bit and he has at least agreed wholeheartedly with me over the mattress, even if I'm pretty sure he's only agreed to the cold water steriliser to appease me...

Gonna crack on with the hospital bags tomorrow and post pictures and everything, that way I'll feel as if something is completed, will also get the teeny tiny clothes washed (as I'll need some of them for the baby bag anyhow.

On names I thought we were decided but now I'm starting to come round to DH's original choice having finally got everyone else convinced on my name not sure whether to admit it and bring the whole bloody name debate back on the table or just keep my trap shut :P

ChickenMe · 25/01/2015 21:32

Just weighed self and have put on two stone overall already what a pig!!! Honestly it is all bump and boobs and the rest hasn't changed!!

Interesting that you can tell where baby is lying; my bump is quite low down-anyone else? The kicks are always just below belly button or betw navel and bikini line. Do people get them much higher?
30+1

PenguinPoser · 25/01/2015 21:37

Most of my kicks are above belly button Chicken although not sure how baby is lying now - midwife thought head down but that was 2 weeks ago. Don't think it matters as long as baby is moving and position doesn't matter much yet anyway Smile

Just wondering has anyone found any nice and reasonably priced nursing pyjamas? Are they necessary/useful? Just decided I needed some but haven't found many online!

RumNoRaisins · 25/01/2015 21:39

Boo just practice a serene smile or a don't mess with me face do what you want then come and rant on here. Works well for me. That reminds me I need to order a new mattress too for the baby.

DH caught me on the vertbaudet website earlier and just shrugged his shoulders. Didn't get anything for the baby but DS1 has a whole load of new clothes on order Blush

Morrisons and Asda have offers on newborn nappies at the moment. Just ordered some packs of size 1 pampers. We will be doing cloth nappies during the day when baby is big enough so not getting too many disposables. Remember if you have unopened packs of nappies and baby outgrows them you an exchange them for the next size up in most supermarkets. I have never been asked for a receipt either.

We had a really difficult time with names for DS1 and now again for this baby. Didn't help that whenever I mention the topic to DH he looks at me with wild eyed panic then spouts the first thing that comes to mind. Rocky anyone?

FiRaffe · 25/01/2015 21:43

Chicken - I seem to get kicked really low, mainly feel it under what feels like the bottom of my bump. I always assumed i'do be kicked at least on my bump and am definitely going to check with my midwife as it doesn't feel normal!!!

ChickenMe · 25/01/2015 21:49

Fi mine loves to kick me in the bladder a lot-does yours? Also in what feels like the cervix. Talking to other people some carry high and some low.
Penguin I just bought nighties with button openings and pjs with baggy tops and will prob just drape something over myself for nursing if anyone's around. I just adore pyjamas so much-we are going to be doing a lot of sitting around so make sure you treat yourself to nice ones!

FiRaffe · 25/01/2015 21:53

Thankfully no bladder kicks yet but definitely that area under my tummy and between the top of my legs! Very odd feeling, especially when DH is trying to feel baby kick!hehe

BananaToast · 25/01/2015 22:04

Boo I would probably reopen name discussions if you're having second thoughts rather than stick with a name for convenience.

Penguin I'm not planning on buying nursing pjs, will just wear strappy nighties/pj tops that can be pulled down easily I think.

I feel kicks all over, from down by my bladder up to my ribs. Bladder ones tend to be more gentle thankfully, so I think they may be arm movements rather than kicks. Baby seems to be moving all over the place so hard to gauge position. Earlier I was fairly sure he was head down with feet by my right ribs, judging by movement and firmer bits of my bump, but he seemed to flip this afternoon so he was lying transverse. Who knows, maybe I'm totally wrong! Will be interesting to see what the midwife thinks at my appointment on Thurs. Actually have a consultant appointment tomorrow for my thyroid (even though when I called GP for my blood results all was normal, so little point) so they will probably have a feel and listen too.
