We bought 2 cardigans today, I think we'll just go with them and a blanket or 2 as needed. Hopefully it won't snow... been known on my birthday on 13th April!

daholster · 24/01/2015 18:45

Oh penguin I was SO glad when it was over. The wait is not nearly ass long as it used to be, I was grateful for that. Will cross everything that it went ok for you. I hope it is the same exam now and we aren't talking at cross purposes lol!!! Right outside Euston station?

I have very achey legs and hips today. It's annoying me because my eyes and head want to put all the coats and shopping away and vacuum the floor and clear the bedroom surfaces, dust and vac then change the bedding and maybe tomorrow wash the bathroom and the floors downstairs. My achey leg muscles and achey hips want to stay sitting down so they can throb in peace!

Bought a new cloakroom sink unit today (cupboard beneath) for the downstairs loo. It needs sprucing up. We will also need a new radiator and I think I'll reprint the little room and put some interesting tiles up from sink to ceiling as a splash back. Dh said "just buy it while we are already busy spending a fortune today"... And so it's coming next Friday! We also have a new bed to buy for dd, my wrap to buy, and the wallpaper to buy for his room... And a carpet for his room and the paint for the front bedroom (the guest bedroom which has never been done but will now be used more and more). DH's parents area buying the carpet for the front room as our Christmas present!!! Oh, and lots of picture frames for the photos we have finally sorted out and a few to get blown up big. Not too much to spend then eh... Shock Confused

daholster · 24/01/2015 18:46

Love the spelling mistake.... Not as long AS it used to be!!!

minipie · 24/01/2015 19:03

ah london I remember walking round with tiny sheep stuffed down my top for that purpose!! Grin not sure it made much difference but not exactly a huge effort so why not. I think it's even more effective if you do it post birth as then you smell of milk.

I have a pramsuit actually somehow I have three from DD as she was a winter baby. If you want to use a sling outside then I think some sort of warm suit is worthwhile as their legs could be v cold dangling outside I reckon. April can be pretty chilly. Or you can get a cover to go over the baby whilst in the sling.

daholster the trike sounds great. Is it going to be DD's present from her baby brother? I've heard it's a good idea if the baby "gives" the older sibling a present, trying to think of something for DD2 to give DD1.

rum sorry you have GD too - I am trying to look at the healthier eating as a silver lining. not got my testing kit yet but trying to avoid sugar, flour/bread, most potatoes and it does make me realise I was eating a lot of that before! Ooops.

Misty 31+3 is great! I am 30 weeks today, feels like a bit of a milestone, every extra day and week helps.

Firaffe that reminds me, we are having carpet put in later this week so need to do some clearing tomorrow. Luckily all the big stuff is out already.

cinnamon I am so impressed you're still running! I find a brisk walk a bit of a challenge Blush and it brings on braxton hicks. well done you.

daholster · 24/01/2015 19:06

minipie no because I want her to get used to using it so it's not a big deal so we might go out on it tomorrow! But yes I've heard that too and not got many ideas yet... Granny and Grandpa are buying her a baby brother doll, maybe that will be enough... Will keep thinking!

skyra13 · 24/01/2015 19:08

londonlivvy Loving the sheep theme!!

I have gone with butterfly's husband thinks I have gone a bit mad as I wanted grey butterfly's to match the colour of an old cupboard that is really good for storing nappies So did not see point in getting rid of it!
The room has an lilac carpet so I am painting the walls violet white and getting purple and grey furnishing :)

Just hoping it will look pretty but not to girlie!! Hmm

I am currently struggling with breathlessness at the moment my god how annoying is that while out shopping!

TheBooMonster · 24/01/2015 19:55

Hope everyone's had a good day! Had a somewhat tiring day at work (feel like a bloody weakling)

What's everyone doing about sterilising? I have a electric steam steriliser from when DD was a teeny, but it's a bit warped, so I'm assuming won't keep stuff sterilised, and as I'm hoping to mostly breast feed and express, I'm not anticipating to be filling a steriliser on a daily basis to get going on a cycle, and if I'm expressing then I'll need to run it several times a day. Had planned to get a cold water system so I could just make up a batch of mix in the morning and dunk the bits from the pump that need sterilising in as they need it and grab it all back out again to use but DH ran it past his mum and is now adverse to the idea as it would cost us money in tablets on a monthly basis guess we're all ignoring the stupidly high cost of electricity during the day on economy 7

TinyTear · 24/01/2015 20:31

We are.giving.dd a camera from.the baby (vtech kiddizoom) so she can take all the photos she likes...

TinyTear · 24/01/2015 20:34

And yes, male HV and my antenatal class was given by a male midwife... I'm OK as long as the advice is good... Just happened this guy was useless...

Knackered, preparing for dd 3rd birthday party tomorrow... I'll. Die tomorrow

cinnamongreyhound · 24/01/2015 20:35

Had to abandon my trike with ds2 when he started steering too strongly for me to fight against him daholster! Would have been handy to disconnect his steering wheel! He loved it though Smile

Thanks minipie, I think most people are surprised (not sure about impressed!) and I didn't think I'd still be running at this stage! I'm still comfortable and I love it so I'm still running but take it week by week.

I put my pump and bottles through the dishwasher TheBooMonster and stored milk in the little sealable bags you can buy. Had a bottle attached to the pump and then poured new milk into frozen/refrigerated milk in bags until they were full.

kismac · 24/01/2015 21:40

Ah, sterilizer! Hadn't even thought about that. Planning on breastfeeding but like to express and get DH involved fairly early on.

I bought DH the Commando Dad book, so thanks to whoever recommended it. It looks really good. I got myself Keep Calm The New Mum's Manual by Ellie Cannon which I've only just started reading but Im quite enjoying. Its all about being confident in your decisions and enjoying being a mum rather than stressing about everything.

PenguinPoser · 24/01/2015 22:56

Yep that's the one daholster it absolutely has to be the same one! They provided nice cookies for the break time! Nice to know you've been through it too. Small world Smile

Boo I'm planning on same as you I think in terms of feeding, have bought some sterilising tablets and going to get a Tupperware cereal box type thing and make up the solution on a morning if we need it. The tablets are quite cheap - I got some Milton ones a box for about £1.25 and that was more than the supermarket brand which I'm sure will be just as good.

I'm impressed by your running too cinnamon I used to jog regularly but lost my fitness amongst the morning sickness somewhere in the first trimester. Now feeling really unfit after a couple of days of walking more than usual and wish I had kept up some exercise, as I will be starting from scratch again postnatally!

Hidingthefear · 24/01/2015 23:21

Thanks penguin yes much less irritable today. I want to DTD but feels like forever since we did (probably 2 weeks at most in reality) tried last night and err mm ahem couldn't get it in, how the he'll will I get a head out BlushConfused he's not asked for it at all, so I'm not under any pressure.

Good idea with the comforters london funnily enough I was told to do it for my puppy when she had an operation so she went in with a vest top of mine. Thought it was a scent thing so not sure it works with humans but might give it a try like you suggested.

We've not bothered with a steriliser, got Milton tablets and going to do the cold water in a tub thing for sterilising. bit old school I know lol

Good link holly defo handy, might print it off and have a run through.
I think I had a tiny realisation today that the little clothes I was folding and putting in the drawer are actually for the little thing growing in my belly HmmShock link not fully made in my head but it did make me smile while I was organising his clothes into sizes

catsofa · 25/01/2015 02:57

OMG my left nipple is wet, I'm leaking! So exciting Grin

Heyitsholly I bought one pramsuit for precisely that reason - I desperately want to put him in a fluffy suit with bear ears Blush! I'm sure we'll get at least some use out of it, it's cold outside at night even in the summer.

I'm also trying to think of something that the new baby can give DSD as a gift. She's 9, anyone got any ideas? Particularly likes Scooby Doo and detective/crime solving/ghost hunting type things. TinyTear A camera is a great idea! Then some of the first photos of the baby will then be taken by their own sibling, giving them something nice to share later in life.

cinnamongreyhound So glad you're still running, I'm still cycling and still really enjoying it, planning to just keep going as long as I possibly can.

I got a cheap microwave steriliser for a couple of pounds second hand off ebay. Never used any steriliser before (apart from Campden tablets for homebrew stuff!), but the microwave option looked like the easiest possible way of doing it to me, so hoping it works ok.

26 + 4

kismac · 25/01/2015 09:07

Hiding, I know what you mean about not 'fitting'. That's why we stopped months ago.

Ha ha. Catsofa, Im really jealous. I kinda want mine to do something. Pretty sure once it starts I'll want it to stop.

Lauren82000 · 25/01/2015 09:16

I found a cool tshirt and bag on amazon for DD, they say 'I'm (DDs name) the big sister' going to fill the bag with the tshirt and some other things. I've already got a book for her, 'How to be a baby by me the big sister' it's pretty funny and will remind her about all the fun things she can do because she's a big girl! Trying to think of other things to go in it. A good idea about the camera but she already has a kidizoom. Hmm She has a million teddies and dolls so that's out, I'm sure I'll think of something.

Pampers newborn nappies are great! Get the smaller ones, I found them big even with my monster babies :)

OP posts:
PenguinPoser · 25/01/2015 12:44

Ah how exciting catsofa at least they are starting to do something unlike my boobs which are doing approximately nothing so far! And actually look smaller now that I'm in non-underwired non push up bras! Hmm

Lauren that t shirt for your DD sounds adorable. I think it's lovely that becoming a big sister is going to be a really special thing for her. Sorry don't have any bright ideas really of what else you can put in the bag though.

I have a selection of nappies too - some pampers newborn size 1 and 2, Aldi ones and Asda's own! Think I'll pack some Aldi ones and Pampers in hospital bag in first size, and hold off buying more until I know which ones are more suitable for baby. hopes for Aldi as they are such a fraction of the price!

FiRaffe · 25/01/2015 13:09

My husband wouldn't let me buy any nappies yesterday so any thoughts /advice would be appreciated. I did manage to talk him into our first body suits with sheep, and winnie-the-pooh sleep suits from Tesco!

Heyitsholly · 25/01/2015 13:29

Reassured to read your comment about boobs penguinposer I was so concerned the other day that I asked my MW if it meant I was not going to be able to breastfeed but she just said everyone changes at different points and she's not concerned.
Having the same achey legs and hips.finding it really frustrating my mind wants to be up and active but my body feels unable so I'm on the sofa in a foul mood. I wish we had a bath.
I'm sure it will pass but right now at 28+3 it feels stupidly long to go.

Heyitsholly · 25/01/2015 13:30

And with nappies I've bought one pack of pampers newborn. Will send the hubby out for the rightsize when we know, will save money and make him feel helpful ha

Lauren82000 · 25/01/2015 13:42

Been in the loft shuffling things around for 2 hours before DH came to find me Blush got quite a bit shifted around and I've managed to get the boxes of baby clothes from the back. The pram was a bit too much to move by self as it was pretty buried.

From the quick gander at the box of smallest clothes it appears I gave my sister much of my neutral stuff except my favourite pieces. So it's a start over with sleep suits and vests.Sad very annoying as I had some really nice patterned things that weren't grey or beige!

Least DH has agreed to take the rest of the stuff to the charity shop so there will be more room to move about up there and I found DDs ultrasound pics. Smile

ChickenMe · 25/01/2015 15:39

Jealous of catsofa too! Earlier in the pregnancy my boobs were agonising and they are less so now and I am also paranoid about BFing not working! I keep checking for any leaks!!

AnniaFausta · 25/01/2015 15:57

Thanks all for reminding me that I really should get my Snuzpod order in sooner rather than later... it's on the list to do on Monday from our local maternity shop!

28w appointment tomorrow, with bloods but I don't need an anti-D. The bump has reaaaallly started showing in the last fortnight. Also a lot more wriggling. Starting to wonder what position the baby's in - but as it's my first, I've got absolutely no way of even taking an educated guess! (I know they'll shift about plenty in the next three months, but it'd be nice to know how you know, if that makes sense.)

mswibble, you have my sympathy on bathroom chaos. We had ours redone when we moved into this house a year-ish ago and it was a total nightmare.
