Hi All

Here's what may or may not be our final thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GeekyHybrid · 09/01/2015 18:59

Wow why - I joke about nuts in my family but your MIL sounds like another level! As someone who recently got married I'm sure BIL would understand if you only did the ceremony. If it's a question of trying to hide your mother at the hotel and everyone worrying about whether MIL is going to assault you / your mother / bubba, well I personally would not have wanted that kind of drama at my wedding. Also play it by ear, if LO is feeding every 2 minutes well then you just can't type thing. Good luck.

Started sorting through all the donated baby stuff today. Yikes - we've got loads. We've even got 2 black bags of 9-12mo's stuff that BIL and SIL just emptied from their loft. Quite a bit of it is pink though so that may have to go straight to the charity shop. We have however concluded that the carry cot from the travel system will not make a suitable bed. Opinions please, do we bother getting a moses basket or just put LO straight into the (140x70) cot?

LittleMissSunshine33 · 09/01/2015 19:18

Hi All

Wow you girls move fast!

Memphis sounds like lately you've had a lots of aches and pains I bet she is right it won't be long for you now!

Why just do what's best for you and baby who cares what is said you've got to put you and baby first that's what's important Smile

Geeky I've got a lot of hand me downs too but all white! Can't wait to get some colour!

One more week left at work get friggin wait!

Memphisbelly · 09/01/2015 19:22

Littlemiss I have just had a tmi alart mass evactuation from thr rear and couldn't actually sit for it as im in so much pain, I dont know what the hell is going on with my body but its freaking me out

Memphisbelly · 09/01/2015 19:25

Geeky will the cot go in your room? Are you having something downstairs for baby to sleep in at first? We have a moses basket for downstairs and a swinging crib in our room as a cot wouldn't fit. If you can live without extra expense then don't bother. We only had this moses basket as I wanted it last time and we didn't have the funds and I don't want people going upstairs to see him when he sleeps (weirdo who doesn't like people going upstairs Grin)

GeekyHybrid · 09/01/2015 19:47

The cot will go in our room. Won't go right next to the bed though - I think that's what I liked about the idea of putting the carry cot on a stand e.g. I could just roll over to do night feeds, not actually have to fully emerge from under the duvet! The carry cot would be OK for naps but as a main bed it's rather hard :-/

Sorry your bum is bad Memphis, sounds like a right pain, literally! Hopefully not too long to go now for you.

littlemiss even though some of the new stuff is rather neutral (read bland) there is also some quite colourful stuff cos people just know what I'm like so there's 2 brilliant 'tigger' suits, bright animal themed sleepsuits from Tesco, an American football team onsie with matching blanket and hat etc :-D I've got to admit I'm starting to get slightly excited now going through it all.

trukevoli · 09/01/2015 19:47

Geeky, we have decided to put the baby straight into a travel cot in our room. That way if we are to go anywhere the baby will be used to the travel cot and hopefully sleep better. Moses baskets just seemed like such an expense that wouldn't be used for very long. Same with the crib.

Very excited today, my new bag has arrived. Not being a bag person it has shocked me how much I love it. went for a paca pod.

donkir · 09/01/2015 19:49

We're using a crib for upstairs just because we can't get cot in our room until we move at end of feb. If we had the room we'd just use a cot with rolled up towels so lo feels more secure. We're going to use the carry cot for pram for downstairs sleeping.

Ticktick · 09/01/2015 20:07

memphis my mw said have diarrhoea is a sign of early labour, its the bodies way of flushing out and preparing. It's say it's a good sign Smile

LittleMissSunshine33 · 09/01/2015 20:11

Memphis sounds like your body is getting rid of everything unnecessary ... Another sign??

I have to say I've been really spoilt as friends and family have got us a baby beanbag for downstairs sleeping and a co-sleeper for our bedroom. I'm so excited to use it all! I hope I haven't forgot anything I think it's just bath stuff I need now!
Am I right in saying that they don't usually have a bath until their cord falls off?

trukevoli · 09/01/2015 20:22

Littlemiss, which beanbag did you get as that's the one thing I want.

Memphis' tmi reminded me of something I was told by my friend....avoid all spicy food in the run up to labour. she had a Mexican the night before and it all came out during labour apparently the distance it went and the smell were shocking.

donkir · 09/01/2015 20:25

Littlemiss I've never heard of that before. I think it's fine to have a bath whenever.

Memphisbelly · 09/01/2015 20:36

Littlemiss they do tell you in isn't nesessary to bath a baby for a week or 2, we bathed ds as soon as he got home as he did that meconium poo all over himself and it stained his feet a dark green colour plus I didn't like thought of all relatives kissing him after he had his face come out of my undercarriage Grin

Truk those beanbags look amazingly comfy! Yes I had thought that about people eating curry and what not the smell must be awful!
My story I was told was when I worked in a pub a man said his wife drank a whole bottle of castor oil and went into labour, in the final stages she pushed and it was like an oily hose covering midwives and the wall at end of the bed Shock then baby slid out and due to oilyness they struggled to hold him, she was an older mother and he was laughing saying they told her off like a naughty school girlGrin

Memphisbelly · 09/01/2015 20:38

Argh keep pressing send not return

Also called MaU as im in agony in my backside they just said to take pain killers and drink lots and it could be a bug or the early stages.....my thinking is I have eaten waaaaay too much the past few days Blush

BanglesSpangles · 09/01/2015 21:28

Blimey memphis, you surely dont have long to go!

Swimming wasnt quite the magic bullet i was hoping for (surprise surprise) - was quite nice to be doing some exercise though so for that im grateful (ruined it all by eating a massive pizza when i got home!)

Still, after a bit of dr googling, im suspecting i might have pgp- i tick all the symptom boxes and you can bring it on apparently by a fall, and seeing as ive been like this since i fell down the stairs on boxing day, it all seems to make sense. Im definitely nowhere near as bad as some of you guys, but i think im going to try and get myself referred for physio before it gets any worse!

BanglesSpangles · 09/01/2015 21:31

Littlemiss, one of the classes we went to said you could bath them but the cord falls off when it dries up, so if you get it wet, then it'll take longer to drie out.

Memphis- i hadnt thought about the whole 'people kissing baby that has passed through my fanjo', but i am now! Baby will deffo be getting a wash!!

OP posts:
LittleMissSunshine33 · 09/01/2015 21:41

Tru it's a bambeano beanbag looks really big wasn't sure about it at first but looks comfortable!

I heard they won't even sell castor oil to pregnant women but if i go over my due date OH will be sent on a mission to get some!

Memphisbelly · 09/01/2015 22:02

little miss no they don't as it can cause distress in baby as it gives you the runs and can aparently make baby poo too in the water.I tried buying it last time. My friend used it and 4 hours later she had baby. mw told her off and she said 'look my nana had 10 babies and she is fine'Grin

sandulacek · 09/01/2015 22:39

truke I got my paca pod jura for xmas and it was my best pressie so totally understand your excitement.

sandulacek · 09/01/2015 22:40

Lol memphis ...I think we'll be all cleaning our babies now!

Cookie1831 · 09/01/2015 23:15

Peppermint I seem to remember a website called spinning babies or something to help get baba to turn
Memphis it really sounds like early labour I had a huge horrible clear out with my first (and thankfully didn't poo in labour as nothing left)
Ew don't really want to kiss the wee baby's face when it comes out now might have to ask the midwife to pass me a wet wipe...

Memphisbelly · 10/01/2015 00:05

well tightenings and pain now...still not convinced it will amount to anything though

donkir · 10/01/2015 00:32

Sounds promising Memphis.
I'd just got to sleep then jelly bean gave an almighty punch in my fanjo and woke me up. I've now vacated to ds room (he's at his dad's) as I'm keeping oh awake. Will be glad when lo is here and I actually get to share a bed with oh again.

Ticktick · 10/01/2015 05:04

Wide awake club! Really struggling tonight to get comfy and stay asleep between loo trips and hip pain plus its super windy outside. Humph

Couldn't resist logging on to see if memphis has any news. Hope you are feeling ok ..... Have the tightenings advanced?

JacktheLab · 10/01/2015 06:10

Morning tick

Up here too, have been for a couple of hours, nap time for me later this morning I think!

I've moved into the spare room, to let my DH get some sleep, ds has just gone through to join him in our bed, might just get up and see to the dogs now, make a coffee (decaf - boo!) and some toast and enjoy the peace

You know, I've not had a caffeinated coffee for nine months now? No pate or alcohol, looking forward to getting back to normal soon, well normalise with a newborn anyway ;)

Why, had another thought, your husband can do the meal etc, you just go to the ceremony and then go back to your folks, then he's representing your family and you get to see the important part of the whole day?

Minichuch · 10/01/2015 06:16

I'm wide awake too, was bloody looking forward to a lie in as well - dh is on his way home from night shift and the 2 cats are sparko snoring

Tick - I'm with you on the hip thing although mine is a dull ache - junior feels like they are doing somersaults at the min
