Hi All

Here's what may or may not be our final thread!!

Seriously pissed off with ASDA - I've done quite a few click and collect orders recently, as getting to the shops is basically out of the question, so its easier for DH to just pick something up from the collection point than trying to find it in the shop for me.

There have been quite a few things off these click and collect orders that I've had DH take back for a refund too (either due to being broken/damaged (they need better packers) or due to me not liking it 'in the flesh'). However they haven't processed 3 refunds correctly - 2 despite them texting and emailing me to say refund was being processed, haven't been refunded at all and the 3rd has been partially refunded! So I'm down £60 and their "helpline" was as much use as a chocolate teapot, just saying oh right, we'll have to put you on hold whilst we look at it and keeping me on hold for 30 bloody minutes before just hanging up. Grrrrr. Have sent them an email now as I didnt think I could be polite on the phone again, now they have really brought out my preggy rage!

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 11/01/2015 15:38

Sorry for the rant. Feel better now. Although ASDA better hurry up and refund my money.

jenmcspen · 11/01/2015 16:11

Had a frustrated cry this morning and OH has been brilliant since - helping me with lots of DIY jobs we need to finish and generally tidying up.
Midwife for a sweep tomorrow Confused
Hospital for monitoring on Tues....
Then induction Fri!!!

Only 5 more sleeps until things begin!

Memphisbelly · 11/01/2015 16:37

Oh Jen I think we are all allowed a rant/cry at the stage we are at lets hope the sweep does something and makes your induction nice and quick.

WhyO that is so bad of Asda and has put me off tying click and collect.

We went to the woods, a different one to usual with actual trails so we couldn't just stroll back to car when we wanted, I honestly thought I was going to die and snored all the way home Grin im so tired now.

I have a friend who is driving me crazy she has text every day for s week asking if I have started yet...im not due for 2 weeks and she didnt message anyone until her baby was 5 days old zi think the last reply she got the message as it just said 'ok wont keep pestering you'
If I get induced we won't tell people and will only tell those who need to know when i go into actual labour, my best mate will guess as she won't see me on school run but I can handle her knowing

GeekyHybrid · 11/01/2015 17:28

The click and collect thing can be most frustrating. We went into town because yodel txtd to say our mothercare order had been delivered to store. Got there to find it definitely wasn't thereSad Angry Grrrr.
Did also go for the official maternity unit tour this afternoon. It was nice to see what it all actually looks like, pool and all. It's all starting to seem very real.

sandulacek · 11/01/2015 18:31

Jen , 5 days?!? Wow seems so soon...sorry don't want to panic you. It's the difference between beginning and end of February!

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 11/01/2015 18:48

Jen hoping everything goes OK for you. Glad your DH is getting more organised now, he needs to be.

Geeky I've had the opposite problem with mothercare - they never text or email to say its in (I've triple checked my phone number with them and they email order confirmations, so I know they've got the right details). Annoying because I have to wait and send DH and hope its there. They always try to tell him without a text it can't be instore yet but its normally there, when they look.

jenmcspen · 11/01/2015 19:27

To be fair to my OH we were pretty much ready for baby (nursery has been done since Oct and new bathroom finished a few weeks ago). Hospital bag etc all done.
Then I decided that we needed to sort lots of other things before baby as if we didn't do it 'right now' when would it ever get done!
Cue new carpet being fitted in living room on tues, dad wallpapered for us today, me and OH touching up paintwork and re-glossing all the woodwork...
And that's just the living room! Wink

My OH calls it 'extreme nesting' Grin lol
I'm just pushing everyone to get as much done pre baby as possible!

jenmcspen · 11/01/2015 19:28

And to be honest, it feels surreal that by this time next week I will be someone's mummy!

BanglesSpangles · 11/01/2015 19:33

Loads of tidying done today, and i have successfully baffled myself with sleep suits and those things that are like sleep suits but without the legs. Mind boggled. Why dont babies just wear normal person clothes?

OH has just blown up the new gym ball- just in the nick of time because my legs keep going numb- hoping sitting on the ball will help

Jen it is overwhelming, my dh hates DIY he has put up blackout blind, a new coat hook by door for ds's coat and book bag and gone to b and q to get new fence posts as our fence is sagging after all the wind recently. Think he will leave woodwork in living room until baby is here then ds will be at school. I have been re designing the garden for us to get that done in the spring....dh LOVES me right new Grin

Oh dear I have a loose belly again and my crown has just fallen off, realised I needed the toilet while up a ladder putting up bunting in baby room and rushed biting hard and it pinged out

Memphisbelly · 11/01/2015 20:09

Bangles they can wear small adult clothes if you want to....but never forget a vest this will hold nappy in place and lower the risk of a poonami explosion up babies back Grin i love baby grows but had to swap to tiny pjs in the night last time as sleep deprived and with no specs on I couldnt figure out the poppers

Grinningcat · 11/01/2015 20:12

Have had my baby shower and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was just as I'd hoped. A small group of people I really like having a proper natter and laugh, round someone's house, with lovely sandwiches, scones, and cake etc. I got some lovely gifts including the most recent mum's present which was a survival kit of all the brands she found to be the best from breast pads through to nappy rash cream.

Grinningcat · 11/01/2015 20:13

And also got a wall painted this morning so we can move the bookcase back and think about getting a chest of drawers for the baby clothes.

BanglesSpangles · 11/01/2015 20:13

Sounds delightful!

I just dont get why ive been bought all these cool vest things with patterns on and stuff if theyre just going under a sleep suit- seems a bit of a shame!

The sheer number of poppers on sleep suits is worrying me too- half the time it takes me two goes to get my own buttons done up correctly, so ive precisely no chance with a baby and multiple poppers!

JacktheLab · 11/01/2015 20:16

Bangles, I used to use the baby grows (no legs) as a vest type layer and sleep suits for nighttime

I've been through the newborn and 0-3 clothes, weeded out a few more that are too boyish and spoken to DH about buying three or four actual outfits as there weren't any I liked and weren't too boyish or xmassy from last time. So, wee trip to the shops tomorrow afternoon I think to see if there is anything nice left in the sales.

Word of warning, boots diabetic chocolate has a very immediate laxative effect, just ask me how I know.....

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 11/01/2015 20:25

Bangles in the summer vests sometimes get seen - when its hot baby might be best in just a vest. However yes it does seem a waste to have all those lovely pretty vests that mostly just get covered by sleepsuits.

Grinningcat · 11/01/2015 20:37

I must admit when I have seen a vest I have particularly liked ( I have captain America and a Breaking Dad vests) I have bought them 3-6 months to try and coincide with warmer months when they will get seen.

trukevoli · 11/01/2015 20:46

I am still so confused about what the baby should be sleeping in.

blankets/swaddling/sleep suits/grobags. I just don't get it as everywhere gives you different advice!

JacktheLab · 11/01/2015 20:49

Swaddle from birth until the baby can get their arms out, blankets and them at the bottom of the cot so they can't wriggle downwards and suffocate themselves and then gro bags when they are a bit bigger, duvets not unt they are a lot bigger

BanglesSpangles · 11/01/2015 21:33

Darn, grinning- thats something i wish id known before i bought anything myself! Oh well, im sure everything will get worn or handed on to someone else

Wow Jen, only 5 days - exciting!

I went for a walk in the forest today too - for about 10 minutes before I got bad back ache again and we had to come back to the car. Then ate most of a tub of B&J phish food ice cream to cheer myself up!

With clothes for baby to sleep in, just don't be tempted to put them in too much (never a hat). Apparently optimum temp for room is about 18 degrees I think, so that should be factored in when putting them to bed. Our house is pretty warm naturally so we'll dress baby in less for that reason.

Honeybird · 11/01/2015 22:52

18 degrees I think is what I've heard too but it seems very cold to us and I do think we've ever had the temp that low for ours. But then I could never get along with either sleeping bags or swaddling, have always just had them in pyjamas, so maybe it made sense.

Memphisbelly · 11/01/2015 22:57

I swaddled when tiny as grobags were just huge then put him in a growbag with a babygrow or pjs on nothing extra.

Bangles I love thr patterned vests and its nice for me when I change the baby.....bugger showing others you enjoy seeing baby in themGrin

I have got steriliser on the worktop it seems a bit too real! Eek!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 12/01/2015 06:33

Glad you had a good shower grinning sounds like everyone's getting prepared!

So let me get this straight Iknew they needed a sleep suit/body suit I have bought a swaddle but they need a vest on too for night times? Vest, bodysuit and swaddle?!
