Congrats Mrs

mrshjb · 08/01/2015 15:10

Thanks everyone :) I went in because I'd had chest pain and vomiting really bad over Xmas and I was told it was a sickness bug, then severe indigestion but after taking medication from the Dr that did nothing I went in in the early hours one morning. Then to cut a really long story short I had v high blood pressure and protein in my urine. They kept me monitored and sent me for a growth scan where they decided he was measuring small so after a few more days I was induced and a few days later he was born. It was a hell of a grim journey but he's here and well and that's the main thing!

Did I read there is a Facebook group? If so how do I join?!

Memphisbelly · 08/01/2015 17:01

Mrs fantastic hope you are settling in with James at home.

Yes we have a private fb group you need to send a private message to one with your name forof us for us to then friend request you and add you to group

Hi All, hope everyone's doing well. Just checking in to ask for an opinion...I've had a proper cold since Sunday. Pulled out all the healing stops yesterday and woke up this morning feeling much better. Hardly coughing, when I do I'm 'clearing out' only got tingling / watery nose a few times today and at present my sinuses are clear, but raw.
I'm meant to meet my NCT buddies for lunch tmrw, two new moms with brand new babies and 5 others about to pop.
Should I go??
I've always believed viruses can only be passed on at the beginning of a cold, but I'm really wary taking the risk of giving it to any one tmrw...

GeekyHybrid · 08/01/2015 18:29

Knackered. Saw the consultant today. Even though scan showed all the fibroids were high up thus allowing regular delivery, they are concerned about 3rd stage labour e.g. the placenta detaching and taking fibroids with it and thus lots of bleeding. He wanted to go with cannula in from admission 'just in case' but this would have prevented me using the pool Sad So I persuaded him that I could be trusted to remain hydrated and that once bubba was out they could get me out of water and do what's needed.
Emotional roller coaster of a day. From the scan I thought I was home free. Then when consultant said wanted me on consultant led ward my heart sank. Luckily, midwife led unit is literally just across the corridor and he listened to reason about it being easy enough to transfer if the placenta does cause trouble. Can't believe how tired I am just from going to the hospital! Should at least sleep tonightHmm

JacktheLab · 08/01/2015 18:34

Evening all,

Viper if you are concerned probably best not to go, just incase.

I've been to my clinic appointment, been put on evening insulin on top of the tablets I'm already on and my section date has been brought forward to the 26th, two weeks on Monday. I had a wee cry too Memphis, it's all a bit more serious now!

She's measuring really big though, the consultant reckoned 9 or 10 pounds, so might not need any new born clothes at all!

Frenetic, I promise you you won't really remember giving birth or a lot of the hassles you've been going through in a couple of years, also, I'm finding this pregnancy much easier than last time, so you might well have a better time next time Grin

longbottom · 08/01/2015 18:37

I've definitely started nesting, cleaned out the kitchen cupboards, deep cleaned the lounge and put some baby stuff away instead of the pile in my bedroom! 7 weeks and counting Smile

Memphisbelly · 08/01/2015 18:51

Geeky I am so glad your consultant listened to you and you have a good outcome, hope you are right and you sleep well tonight

Jack yes 2 weeks on tuesday for me, so close now, that is why I am not going to get my hopes up on induction its so close to the end now (providing I don't go overGrin) i really didn't want to cry on my mw, I act all brave and thankful to my consultants when it should be the other way round!

Finally made the baby bumper today.....I accomplished something yahooo

Becca1818 · 08/01/2015 18:52

Hello ladies. Long time lurker here but thought I would say hello again as my due date approaches!
I've been on (forced) maternity leave since the end of November due to being made redundant so time has started to stand still and I am starting to a) get impatient and b) start to panic that I am not ready/capable.
I have a scan on Monday to see if baby is still breech/ if the placenta has moved so may need a section - which I am nervous about. Eek
X

Congratulations Mrs and welcome baby James! How lovely!! Hope the first few days have been going ok! Very exciting to be hearing about babies starting to arrive! Must get more organised! Waited in today for delivery of new crib mattress but it was delayed in transit so not coming until tomorrow, which is not much use as I'm working, which was really the point of ordering it today!!! Ah well. Need to ask dh to bring down baby clothes from the attic, will be quite fun to see them again and look out the neutral things as this time round we're having a surprise! Have started to feel excited about meeting the new member of the family since the NY, don't know if anyone else feels more like that now too? One more week to work, but loads to do!!!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 08/01/2015 19:58

Congratulations Mrs! Welcome baby James! Eeek First 2015 baby! Getting real now!

Welcome Becca!

Sorry some of you are really feeling it now! You're so close!

I've got massive huge ankles and legs today first time they have been so huge! I think it's where I've been off and then suddenly teaching on my feet all day! They are horridSad

Memphisbelly · 08/01/2015 22:14

Littlemiss could you sit at your desk with your feet up? i remember a tracher being stood on by her horse so had her foot up for weeks.
I haven't had any swelling so far but I cannot wear any jewelery at all it makes my skin red and swollen, I miss my wedding rings and earrings. Another weird one is my leg hair has almost totally stopped growing.

jenmcspen · 09/01/2015 07:46

Morning everyone - hope the lack of early morning messages means everyone slept a little better Smile and welcome becca

One more week to go!!!

blankfornames · 09/01/2015 08:46

Welcome Becca!

Unfortunately not Jen! I'm getting so uncomfortable at night now with my hips aching if I lie on any side for too long.
Also went to see the movie Unbroken last night. Not quite the 'fluffiness' I could have done with but the little time I did sleep...i dreamed of being in wars! Shock

BanglesSpangles · 09/01/2015 09:22

hey all
The chest of drawers is up in the baby's room and its frigging huge. Once again, me and DH have made the mistake of just assuming everything's going to fit in, rather than measuring, and I think it's going to be a bit of a squeeze once the cot and wardrobe's built!!

Grinningcat · 09/01/2015 09:24

I slept reasonably well and only woke twice, but it is sooo difficult to get up in the mornings. I dreamt I was canoeing with a couple of old colleagues?!

I guess we will need a new thread soon. I haven't a clue how to do it though.

BanglesSpangles · 09/01/2015 09:49

I'll do it now - I did the last one, so hope nobody thinks I'm greedy!

jenmcspen · 09/01/2015 09:51

Somebody has to keep us on track bangles! Exciting, I guess this thread is where we start seeing lots of babies arrive Smile
7 days til induction Shock Grin

GeekyHybrid · 09/01/2015 09:53

It would seem physical and emotional exhaustion are the way to go if I want to sleep through - made it to 7.30 this morning which is good, but I was so tired last night. I actually went out in the evening to a works thing, saw my boss but that was depressing in that his marriage is in trouble and he looks like crap. I had hoped it would improve over Christmas but it doesn't seem to be getting better. If it does go tits then I know my boss would go back 'up North' which would totally change where I work :-( And I know I shouldn't be worrying about work but...

Right, must nip out to go sort all the paperwork for youth club etc.. I need to make sure everyone who'll be covering me knows what they're doing. Could be amusing ;-)

Had my 34w appt this morning and junior is now breech, he had been head down for ages too.

GeekyHybrid · 09/01/2015 11:53

That's annoying for you peppermint. Have they given you exercises to encourage junior to turn? I've heard that being on your hands and knees helps. It may explain why as a gardener, planting bulbs right into December etc.. that mine is very much head down. At my 36w appointment they said 3/5's engaged and when they scanned at my consultant appointment there is a note to say head circumference measurement is inaccurate due to low position!

Thanks for the new thread Bangles. I'll see you all over there. I'm going to try do some sorting of baby stuff to at least get my hospital bag packed - I've just been nagged by a friend!
