Cookie1831 · 06/01/2015 17:21

Hi sorry not posted in months!now on annual leave until mat leave officially starts, really struggling with sleep due to itchy skin had some bloods done today to check bile acids
I am a bad mama my first born was out the door into cot in nursery by 9 weeks...

Memphisbelly · 06/01/2015 17:22

WhyO i think dh has it too but he won't go to be checked. I was 9 years old and the size of a 5-6 year old and snored like a fat old man Grin

Bangonthedoor · 06/01/2015 18:09

Welcome butterpuff and hello again cookie Smile

DD was in Moses basket until she grew out of it at 3 months then i put her in cot in her own room. I think I'll just do the same with this one - until they grow out of it.

Lovely to hear about more dates Smile I'm due the 6th and starting to wonder if I'll go over again. A few days from my due date it will be the 5th anniversary of my mums death and I'm wondering whether baby will show on that day (I'm quite spiritual) it would be kind of nice to have another distraction each year...

That's the only thing with st Richards geeky I find the communication quite poor and frustrating at times. But the care I received whilst having DD was pretty good. There were a few bitchy midwives but lots of lovely ones, I was there for 5 days so saw quite a few! I'm hoping to go into the birth centre.

GeekyHybrid · 06/01/2015 18:22

5 days! bang that's a long stay. The communication is rubbish at times at St Richards then you get hold of a nice one and they pull out all the stops and sort everything in one go. I'm also hoping for the birth centre but all depends on what the consultant says on Thursday, fingers crossed and all that!
donkir yours sounds most reasonable, I'm putting my order in Wink
memphis lol'd at the snoring, I know sleep apnea seriously not funny, but was remembering how my US grandma snored and it made me smile.

Bangonthedoor · 06/01/2015 18:29

Fingers crossed for you geeky that you get the answers you want! Yep 5 days - 3 days of induction and 2 days post birth. I managed to get the last private room though so at least I had privacy once DD had arrived.

Memphisbelly · 06/01/2015 18:29

Geeky I think I was a total pita for my parents often went to school with a black eye due to me rolling out of bed a headbutting something or sleepwalking to the loo and falling asleep while on it (a few times every week) or would sleepwalk around the house talking about dragons and missing my mummy, sobbing I miss my mummy while in my mums arms Grin and I wonder why ds doesn't sleep.....karmaGrin

JacktheLab · 06/01/2015 18:34

Just jumping in to say my c section is booked for 29th, I think I've updated the spreadsheet ok

freneticfox · 06/01/2015 19:40

I'm due the 14th, so sick of people saying 'isn't that romantic!' To be honest, I can think of many, many, more romantic things to do on that day that don't involve pushing a person out of me.

Hope I'm early to be honest, I'm very hot and uncomfortable, and SPD is now at a point where I need crutches for moving. Yes, I'm moaning again!

On the bright side all we need now is out pram and car seat to be delivered and we're ready to have a baby!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 06/01/2015 20:13

Welcome butter!

Nice work on the spreadsheet Bangles!

I feel the same about perineal how can you get round bump and don't know what im doing down there!

Went to the birth centre tonight to do an assessment if I am low risk enough to have baby bean there which they think I am! Ahhh now am thinking have I done the right thing? Only pain relief is water pool and gas and air... Starting to worry!! Shock

Grinningcat · 06/01/2015 20:30

We plan to put the cot in our room for the first 6months as I think we can fit it in if we do some rearranging. Thinking of putting the Moses basket in it as I am paranoid we will knock it over in the night if we have it freestanding.

The hv didn't do a home visitor, but I met her yesterday in her office. Talked a lot about how organised we were, our family, and habits, but nothing too untoward. She said it was so we get to meet before baby arrives as its a bit odd to invade someone's home 10/14 days after baby arrives telling a tired stressed new mum stuff.

Had a good day off today. Spent it with Dad and took flowers to the crematorium as its 10 years since Mum passed away. Got a bit tears though thinking about how I'm carrying another grandchild she'll never meet. We then had lunch and went to look out at that cargo ship beached in the Solent.

jenmcspen · 06/01/2015 20:38

Welcome butter and hi again cookie Smile

I have been on Mat leave officially for a week or so now, but off since beginning Dec with sick leave (due to OC) and holiday.

Memphis OH is coming in for me for even the early stages of induction. I warned him it is likely to be veeerrryyy long and v. boring, but he said he wants to support me which is quite sweet (just hope we don't get on each others nerves! Grin)

Memphisbelly · 06/01/2015 20:45

jen thats nice also if you went alone I bet he would be home worrying.....dh would annoy me Grin last time i kept sending him to cafe or coffee shop to give me peace...when I had epidural we left him asleep in waiting room for over an hour haha

Bangonthedoor · 06/01/2015 22:48

Thinking of you grinning Thanks

It doesn't get much easier does it. It's heartbreaking knowing DD will never know her special Granny and as you say now there'll be another one that won't know her.

Glad you had a nice day with your Dad though.

freneticfox · 06/01/2015 23:00

Thoughts are with you, grinning. It stabs at me every day that our boy will never know my Dad. My one regret is that we didn't feel ready for a baby before my Dad passed away.

GeekyHybrid · 07/01/2015 05:36

Good morning all. Is this (5am) what they call compromise?! I'm glad it's not the middle of the night but still. .

JacktheLab · 07/01/2015 05:38

Morning all,

hope you are all safely tucked up in bed! I've been up since 4.15 again, left DH in bed to sleep although I've warned him that I might be up at any point to kick him out of bed and take over DS!

Sorry to hear that some of you have lost your parents, it must be very hard, but I do think that family lives on through the next generation so I'm sure that your relatives are there, in spirit, hope that's not too woo!

donkir · 07/01/2015 06:25

Morning everyone. Other than getting up for a wee I slept through till 6. Still a bit early to wake up but much better than previous night. Helped by the fact my oh isn't at work today so slept on the sofa so I could get a good night. I may moan about him but he really is lovely. I wonder if he'll do it again tonight? Wink

Honeybird · 07/01/2015 07:15

Commiserations to all those lacking sleep. Having my first extremely poor sleeper rid me of my mild insomnia and I am so exhausted now I can usually sleep as much as I'm allowed to. Which last night wasn't much. Both kids up repeatedly with fever, cough, blocked noses...

Memphisbelly · 07/01/2015 08:27

I am a tually sleeping ok apart from dh bed hogging, I ended up losing my rag last night with him, thrn he went to work at 4 and ds woke at 5 but I told him to get in my bed for an hour and ended up waking him at 7.30! Dh is away tonight so im hoping for a fsb night sleep without being shoved out. He has been warned the sofa is calling from now on Grin

blankfornames · 07/01/2015 08:48

Welcome to the madness Butter!

Grinning, I'm thinking of you and all of you who have lost a parent or indeed family member.

Went to a Breast Feeding class yday. My gosh, it's a bit of a science isn't it! I really want to do it but have the fear that it won't work out. My SIL had just had her 3rd baby and makes it all look so easy. But then again, the milk comes in quicker the more kids you have. Do your boobs go back to ever being the same again?!

Grinningcat · 07/01/2015 09:18

Thanks everyone. Although Mum won't know this grandchild, and she loved babies, I do appreciate having Dad around. At 87 I am keenly aware that he won't be with us forever and I am making sure I don't have any regrets if anything does happen i.e. we invited him to our 3d scan (albeit unsuccessful) and I plan to visit him at least once a fortnight with nipper whilst on maternity leave (going to alternate midweek visits with each set of grandparents once I'm over the initial shock of having a newborn!).

Bangles I've had numbness and pins and needles in my left thigh for months now. It seems to ease a bit after lying down for ages, but as soon as I stand up it comes back and gets worse the longer I stand/work. the MW doesn't think anything of it and I guess it will go away once baby etc isn't pressing down on whatever nerve is being squished. Does feel weird though, but just very glad it isn't constant pain instead.

Memphisbelly · 07/01/2015 10:47

Blanks regarding boobs I think everyone is different. My sister went from a D cup to an A after feeding her baby, my friends mum has 4 kids and started on A cups and with each one she fed she put on a cup size and still has big boobs now.
But most I know they look deflated after feeding has stopped but they can take up to a year after to build up again, my friend stopped feeding and her DD said mummy your boobies have shrunk.....but they have got more perky and normal again now, she used a serum too to keep skin from sagging.
I cannot bf but I am so glad the hospitals seem to have more support for women who want to do it now.

I have no mojo I wanted to do some sewing today but I am lying on the sofa eating jelly Grin once my dad has been I may make a start but I may just have a bath instead

Someone at school said today 'you seem to have been pregnant FOREVER!

Grinningcat · 07/01/2015 10:54

Oh I wish I was on the sofa eating jelly. Currently trying to motivate myself to get at least SOME work done today, and trying not to think about the chocolate chip cookies I know are lurking in the office biscuit tin Smile.

Memphisbelly · 07/01/2015 10:58

Grinning....go and eat them they may motivate you to do work? ...if not it was worth trying it Grin

Minichuch · 07/01/2015 12:11

Grinning - my work motivation isn't very good either and hasn't been since I got back on Monday
