why I can sympathise with the pgp pain... waddled into my hospital appt like john wayne this morning! Physio on weds so fingers crossed it will help a little

PeppermintInfusion · 05/12/2014 11:01

We got shelves put in the built-in wardrobe in the nursery last night, so we were able to start arranging all the stuff we've bought. Didn't realise how much we had! Feel more prepared than I thought we were!
Everything has arrived or is on it's way now- finally made a decision on the nursery decor yesterday and ordered the bedding etc.

Just out of my anti-d injection, it really wasn't that bad every though the mw doing said some people find it really painful. So that's been 3 lots of blood and an injection this week! Still need to book my flu and whooping cough

Bangonthedoor · 05/12/2014 14:01

Hello! Just found our new thread! Thanks bangles!

Can you believe we're in the last little bit...the countdown will really begin after Xmas.

I hope you have a lovely time away memphis

freneticfox · 05/12/2014 14:29

WhyoWhy - massive sympathies. PGP is currently the bane of my life.

30w tomorrow, I can't believe I'll be in the single digit weeks countdown. I feel like I've been pregnant forever.

I'm meant to have physio on Monday morning, but I'm seeing my midwife Monday to sort my transfer to a different hospital, so not sure what to do about the appointment. Preferably I'd rather not go anywhere near my local hospital lest I become consumed with rage...

purpleteapig · 05/12/2014 14:43

Hi all - can't believe we're already on a new thread. Congrats on everyone being officially in the 3rd tri now!

Had my 31wk appointment yesterday and got myself in a massive stress about having my bp taken (I've always had this issue but yesterday got especially worked up) and sure enough, it was high. She was going to make me come in for monitoring but I pleaded and said it was normal at home. My husband kindly takes it for me to try and get me over my phobia. She agreed thankfully - phew!

GeekyHybrid · 05/12/2014 18:42

Bit of drama here this morning. For the last 2+ months I've been complaining that our little sod darling wakes me up around 4/5am with rolls, kicks and generally pressing on the bladder. The odd time I sleep through it's there reminding me to eat breakfast as soon as I do wake up. This morning it hadn't budged. So I ate a high energy breakfast - toast with peanut butter and jam. Still no movement. So I downed a cold can of coke. At this point I was leaving the house anyway as I drop off my friends daughter at the station on my way to work. Still no movement 10 minutes down the road. By this time I've decided to not continue on to work. Got a cold bottle of water, drank half a litre of it and parked near the hospital. Nil movement. Phoned up, went in. Hooked straight up to a monitor, heartbeat came through nice and strong. 20 minutes later movement! It then figured out it could get the machine to make a funny noise if it kicked the sensor. 19 kicks in

GeekyHybrid · 05/12/2014 18:56

PS - watching the news this evening, I didn't think I would be able to dislike Nigel Farage any more than I already did. And then he comments on the Claridge's row. Knob.

LancashireTea · 05/12/2014 19:43

Found you ladies! We ordered the baby furniture at the weekend. Went for the mamas and papas Rialto set in the end with the cotbed. Been very lucky as my nana and my dad have paid for it all. And double bonus - we bought in the sale! So it was only £570 for it all, delivery on a specific day in Jan and a mattress as well. Yay.

But it still doesn't feel real yet! And I've not even though about the hospital bag!

LancashireTea · 05/12/2014 19:46

Nigel Farsley is a twunt. All this Claridges malarkey made me and OH almost have a row at 11 at night about BFing! Tbh I won but that's because his opinion didn't count! Grin haha!

ScummyWithGin · 05/12/2014 21:29

Glad your little so and so is wriggling around again Geeky. They do like to keep us on our toes!

Bloody Nigel Twatage! Sadly I get the feeling that a lot of people feel like him and the Claridges lot in the US. So many women over here including most friends I know with babies express so they can feed bottles when they are out and about as they are too uncomfortable to breastfeed. It's really sad but I have no idea what I'll do as I can imagine feeling self conscious knowing quite a few people disapprove. Status quo or be all foreign and go for the "ostentatious" breastfeeding approach Grin

Viperama · 05/12/2014 23:34

Ostentatious all the way Scummy!

GeekyHybrid · 06/12/2014 08:10

Whatever is comfortable for you scummy. One of my US cousins is about to have her 4th and has bf all of them. She does find she's in a minority but cos she believes in it, and that she wants her boys growing up seeing it as natural, she's open about it all the way. It's the crap maternity leave that makes things difficult for her as time goes on, especially being a nurse on shiftsConfused
Typing this has given me more reassurance that I should find bf easy-ish. Supposedly my mom took to it like a duck to water and knowing my cousin has, fingers crossed etc.

blankfornames · 06/12/2014 08:57

Geeky, that is funny that Baba is playing games already! That happened me 2 weeks ago, i finally went into the Emergency Dept in an awful state. When i was hooked up Bean gave 10 big kicks and somersaults in the 30 mins that they traced me.
Always better to be safe than sorry.
Not that I'm complaining but some kicks and squirms can be quite boney and sore these days! I can only imagine how they'll be in another 2 months!

blankfornames · 06/12/2014 10:39

p.s.. does anyone know if an Uppababy Vista buggy can have an attachment so that it fits a toddler and newborn. ( can't believe I'm thinking of number 2 before number 1 has made an appearance!!)

jenmcspen · 06/12/2014 11:03

blank we have got the current vista and as far as I know u can add a buggy board but not make it a double. The new vista launches in uk end jan/beginning feb and can convert to a double

blankfornames · 06/12/2014 11:29

That might be cutting it too fine..even by my standards!
Thanks Jen. How are you feeling?

jenmcspen · 06/12/2014 11:38

I'm okay. my only symptom is the itching which is stopping me sleeping, but it was worrying about bump that was stressing me out. luckily he/she is an active little bugger so feel better about things x

LancashireTea · 06/12/2014 13:43

Being a complete grumpy Scrooge today and am forgoing a Christmas meal at OH's friend's house. I am cleaning instead. He's going but I simply cannot be doing with folk getting ratarsed around me atm. I know I'll end up bored, politely nursing water or diet coke and being forced to either drive to bloody Ealing or deal with trains and tubes. No.
I feel bad for being so moods about it all, but I feel like I can't join in with all of the festivities without people 'pitying' me.
Anyone else feel the same? Sad

Plus I have a cold and a pile of mock exams that need marking. I've still got a full 8 weeks of work left with no let up from SLT.
I will stop whinging in a bit.Wink

Minichuch · 06/12/2014 13:55

Ha Lancashire I'm exactly the same although I've ventured out - heading into Leeds trying to get public transport and giving it up as a bad job - rest of then are drinking - its not good :-( so I know how you feel

suzimagoozi · 06/12/2014 14:20

Yay for new thread! I don't even think I contributed to the last one but did read it religiously. Does anyone have any lists or tips for first timers re what to pack in hospital bag? Nursery still resembles a home office with no cot in sight so I have a busy January ahead.

Bangonthedoor · 06/12/2014 14:57

Glad all is well geeky Smile

suzi with regards to hospital bag in mine I've got bits for me including labour nightie, pjs for after, dressing gown, slippers, towel, flannel, toiletries, breast pads, maternity pads, going home clothes, cheap black knickers. Then for baby I've got 3 outfits including hats, blanket and cardigan (i got told off for not taking a cardi last time Blush) and nappies. I've put a couple of spare bits in for DP too just in case Smile

I got my appointment letter through today for my antenatal HV visit - 9th January. God I'm dreading it...however she may be a nice HV so we'll see Hmm

LancashireTea · 06/12/2014 15:02

Have de-grumped by lighting a festive candle (bought as a gift but it's so scrummy that I don't care!) and having a long, hot shower with my body shop cranberry shower gel which I always buy as a treat! And then had a fight with sellotape, wrapping paper and the cast iron casserole dish that I've bought my bestie for Xmas. Now xbox time!

suzimagoozi · 06/12/2014 15:04

Thanks Bang! Am hoping to find the perfect 'coming home from hospital' outfit in the post Christmas sales... Majority of the other contents well likely end up being from Primark for guilt free binning if necessary Wink

Bangonthedoor · 06/12/2014 15:05

Ah I love the cranberry one too lancashire! Glad you feel better

Bangonthedoor · 06/12/2014 15:07

suzi all my bits are from primark and will all go in the bin Grin
