Had a rather un-original attempt at a new name! Hop across ladies!

We knew for DS but kept it secret and will find out for this one too. But we didn't tell anybody the chosen name until he was born.

I call the obstetrician secretary and I won't have a scan or an appointment before seen the mw (19th December). So I guess the early scan I was told I needed by the diabetes specialist is not going to happen!

Great news Ibelieve, what a relief!

We didn't decide on a name for dd until she was born, largely because we can't agree on names either, especially for girls. I don't know how we are going to agree on another one.

Fleurchamp · 11/12/2014 15:49

I didn't realise that the harmony test would also reveal the sex. I assume it's optional? I don't want to find out.

Number3cometome · 11/12/2014 16:03

itsnot mine are mixed race x

Pipbin · 11/12/2014 16:11

Anyone else have days where they feel not so sick? I'm wondering whether it's because I slept well last night. I feel not too bad today and it's unnerving. Yesterday I felt terrible

Me too. I felt rough all yesterday, so much so that people kept commenting. However I was asleep from 9pm last night and I've felt pretty much fine today.

I'm sure my bump is growing now though, my work trousers feel tight. So worried about my scan on Tuesday. I don't know what will happen if my bean hasn't grown.

Me and DH have had two girl and two boy names chosen since we started TTC. But only we know them, and no one will find out until DC is born no matter how much family pester us for name choices

I will definitely want to know, makes the planning so much easier. The baby itself and what he or she will look like is surprise enough for us. I am bit of an organiser and will prefer to know if I am buying for a boy or girl. Names - not sharing with no one in the family because it might cause World War 3 or 4 Grin so only between DP and I.

Re symptoms, in earlier weeks I was symptomless for 1 day each week, not anymore. My new symptoms - hip/pelvis pain, back ache when I stand for too long, feverish feeling in the evening from about 4pm. Not taking flu jabs never believed in it, so hoping I can avoidGrin

supersupersupershock · 11/12/2014 16:39

I will definitely be finding out gender - am booking private scan for beginning of Feb at 16 weeks. For me its because if I am really secretly wanting a girl, I have a boy and this will be my last. I think I am more likely to have a boy and therefore would prefer to know early on so I can get used to it... on and buy lots of stuff :)

Raines100 · 11/12/2014 16:50

We're going to find out. I wanted a surprise the first time, but DH has the patience of a gnat. The suspense would have killed him. I quickly had to give up on the yellow bump idea. On the up side, if you already have DCs, it helps to get them prepped for the new arrival if you talk about Baby Joe or Jane coming.

Hmm... on the fence about the flu jab. I'm all for immunisation, but a Dr once said to my mum that they wouldn't personally whilst pg. Might have been a nutty Dr, though, so don't know what to think. Will ask the midwife at my booking in appt. Is the flu very risky for baby? The swine flu epidemic was in full swing during my last pregnancy, and the midwives weren't bothered about me catching that.

Zampa · 11/12/2014 17:02

Fleur I'm sure you can ask for gender not to be revealed during the Harmony test. I'm just keen to get my hands on the info.

Threeplus1 · 11/12/2014 17:05

I've only had proper full on flu once - right after getting a flu jab. It was the first and last time I got it. Instead I just try and increase my veggies and fruits, take fish oil supplements and try to get fresh air and stay active (fat chance of that right now though as I'm too nauseous and it's like the arctic out there!) as well as proper hand washing. As soon as this nausea backs off I'm starting back at the gym and I'll start making my fruit and veg smoothies for breakfast again.

olympicsrock · 11/12/2014 17:30

Hi everyone
Just joining the July bus. I am just 6+ 6 and due on 31st July. This will be dc2 for me as I have ds aged 3.0.
I felt really well until last week but exhausted this week. My aim this time is not to be the last one on the bus as I was last time with a due date of 30th and 12 days over....

Naturegirl82 · 11/12/2014 17:31

Immunisations are a personal decision. I'm having the flu jab, as you are more likely to catch flu when pregnant due to weaker immune system and it can get quite bad with complications quite quickly and cause fetal distress. I had it last year without any problems so will do the same again this year.

itsnotthatdeep · 11/12/2014 17:59

thanks for all those getting back to me, my partner is such a bloke and his mum died when he was little so I dont have a sensible person to ask questions I just dont know.

I still dont have my scan appt Angry Angry

Luckystar82 · 11/12/2014 18:08

I am definitely keen to find out the gender. I'm just really keen to know and not very good with surprises.

I think we are having a boy, DH thinks it is a girl. So we have bet on it. The loser has to organise a suprise 'date night' for the winner. We don't normally do date nights as we're rubbish at organising things, so this will be a nice surprise!

I have had the most horrible sickness and bad stomach for nearly three weeks now. It's like a catch 22 situation, if I eat I end up with stomach ache and bad gas. If I don't eat, I feel really sick. Have only been sick 3 times so guess I have got off lightly. It has made it difficult to concentrate on work. I can't wait for Christmas.

I have my 12 week scan next Friday 19th Dec (due 2nd July according to MW, but early scan suggested a week behind, so who knows!). I am slightly bricking it. I am praying it is good news, but if it isn't at least I have Christmas to recover before going back to work.

broodylicious · 11/12/2014 18:16

Welcome olympicSmile

I think I may opt for the flu jab - and later whooping cough - just because I do believe in nhs guidance and that its there for a reason. I know a lot of families who have the same parenting style/ethos as us (attachment/gentle/natural hippy parenting) don't like immunisation but I'd never forgive myself if anything happened and I could've prevented it.

Leela5 · 11/12/2014 18:19

I had t thought about flu jab. Got booking in appointment Monday so will talk to mw then.

Still no scan date, 9 weeks tomorrow

itsnotthatdeep · 11/12/2014 18:32

broody you totally just summed me up re vaccs. im not having the flu jab as im not working so im way less likely to encounter it. and im totally undecided with the whooping cough and wether to have downs screening

StoneBaby · 11/12/2014 19:00

I had the flu jab when I had my bloods done last month. Will have the whooping cough too. DH doesn't want me to have a nucheal scan or any screenings as he doesn't want to be influenced in the way we 'receive' the baby.

BadIdeaBear · 11/12/2014 19:03

I haven't had the flu jab and I'm unsure whether to or not. I don't know why I'm dithering - I usually like free stuff!

As far as the whooping cough one is concerned, we can't have that for ages, can we, and it only covers baby when newborn? So, on the basis I've heard it's not a nice jab (...wimp...) and we'll be in the middle of summer, I might not do that one, either.

But does this ALREADY make me a bad mother?!

olympicsrock · 11/12/2014 19:48

Also dithering about the flu jab. I had it last year and it gave me a very sore arm for a fortnight but then again pregnant women are more vulnerable.
I like your reasoning about summer babies and whooping cough Badideabear. Booking in tomorrow. I have asked for an early appointment as I want my scan around 11 to 12 weeks. Last time they could not fit me in before 14 weeks and i do care about downs etc screening as I am 36.

broodylicious · 11/12/2014 19:50

Lol bad! Not at all - means you've considered the options, weighed it up and are happy with your choice. Who the heck can argue with that?!Smile And everything parenting related is totally personal - I've found that parents are very protective and fierce when it comes to talking about their choice of all kinds of stuff; pushchairs and car seats (rear facing for how long in partic!) and sleep training (not even going there as I hate to even type the words!) are the hottest topics/easiest way to pick a fight ime. Certainly a whole new wonderful world waiting for you newbies...Smile

Number3cometome · 11/12/2014 19:53

Had my flu jab, we get it done at work. Was fine just hate the aching arm after!

fattycow · 11/12/2014 19:57

Scan today. Bubba is fine! Smile
Got my date put to July 3rd, so one day later than according to period, but that makes sense as my cycle isn't 28 days.

fattycow · 11/12/2014 19:59
