Had a rather un-original attempt at a new name! Hop across ladies!

Hoping the stats link works...

My last two pregnancies were pretty similar to eachother, except I had slightly more headaches with ds. Sickness lasted the same amount of time too. Scan tomorrow.

Naturegirl82 · 11/12/2014 12:29

My dsis and I had very similar pregnancies in terms of symptoms but she had a ds and I had a dd.

Hoping not to find out this time. I didn't want to know last time but we had to be told at a scan at 28 weeks. It was quite nice knowing though.

Mrsc020987 · 11/12/2014 12:39

My 2 pregnancies were polar opposites, both girls. Also got pups in last one (horrible rash over bump, so bloody itchy!) which apparently means in 70% of pregnancies its a male and the reaction is due to the male hormones! Awk its all a crock, both times I had a surprise and loved it, kept us all going till the end. With the first (due in January) at Christmas my sister got baby shower prediction cards and all the family guessed date time and sex, was so nice at the end crossing off everyone and eased the looooong wait!

naty1 · 11/12/2014 13:19

Yes it is determined by the sperm. So just an odd coincidence. (Though icsi is apparently slightly more girls)
I was reading that whether the man can have boys or girls or both is from both his parents. (DP has 2 aunts 1 uncle and i think 2 aunts 2 uncles, so that would suggest both).but not sure i believe it as most people have mixed sex children, if they have say more than 3.
I think though my dad having 5 (maybe 6) females children and grandchildren should be unlikely.
Apparently girls are hardier embryos and babies (a little)
The embryo put back that didnt grow could have been the boy.

itsnotthatdeep · 11/12/2014 13:26

hi all, everyone was convinced I would have a boy I didnt, this time everyone wants a girl or thinks I'll have a girl. I feel the same as I did last time to be honest but Im totally not fussed what we have Grin

itsnotthatdeep · 11/12/2014 13:27

Does anyone on here have mixed race little ones? I have allsorts of questions re skincare and things

Threeplus1 · 11/12/2014 13:37

itsnot I'm mixed race and so are my dh and kids... Pm me your questions, I'd be happy to help Smile

Threeplus1 · 11/12/2014 13:39

I have 1 DS and 2 dds and all of my first trimesters have been full of nausea and some vomiting to varying degrees. I don't believe there's any weight to symptoms predicting gender but it's certainly a fun way to take your mind of the stresses of the first 12 weeks or so

Leela5 · 11/12/2014 13:49

Anyone else have days where they feel not so sick? I'm wondering whether it's because I slept well last night. I feel not too bad today and it's unnerving. Yesterday I felt terrible

broodylicious · 11/12/2014 14:04

Same here plus, I don't think there's any weighting to myths - they're old wives tales so fun to listen to but none are concrete. My mum said the only one she believed in was how a baby is carrying (up front for a boy, all over for a girl) but she had to admit that's not reliable either when I popped out dd after carrying v much up front.

We shan't be finding out gender. Your mum's thinking want is the same as ours - it's such a lovely surprise on the day. Dh told me we had a dd when she was born and for us, it felt more special than a sonographer or a mw. We loved all the name short listing (between dh and I, never with anyone else because their opinions will sway you!) and deliberating and looking at both girl and boy baby clothes when we were shopping. So much fun. When my dsis was pg, she found out at 20weeks and told us what our nephews name would be - so no guessing apart from weight! Each to their own though, as with everything in life Smile

itsnotthatdeep · 11/12/2014 14:23

Broody, I have no desire to find out at all! I can't wait to have that surprise like you say so much more fun

Threeplus1 · 11/12/2014 14:31

I always find out the gender, I feel able to bond more with a he or a she than an 'it' iyswim. And I prefer to be able to buy

Threeplus1 · 11/12/2014 14:33

Ooops pressed post by mistake....

Meant to say I prefer to be able to buy more specifically. I'm also not much for patience... I couldn't wait the whole 9 months when I could find out sooner!

VirtualSantaHat · 11/12/2014 14:47

I really want the mango sorbet I have in the freezer

The bummer is I am at work, and a motorway drive away from my freezer Xmas Sad

Thepurplegiraffe · 11/12/2014 14:51

Like the name change Virtual!

I don't know whether to find out or not. We did last time so it might be nice to try something different...

TinyCaterpillar · 11/12/2014 14:53

Leela yep me too, I felt absolutely fine from last night through to this morning - not sick, not tired even though I only slept 11pm-6am, and I was getting really worried by the sudden lack of symptoms....And then at around midday suddenly wanted to be sick everywhere and just close my eyes and sleep! So now I feel stupid for worrying! And I know it was like this with my first pregnancy too, i'd spend every other day worrying about lack of symptoms! I really need to relax...

TinyCaterpillar · 11/12/2014 14:54

Oh and we're not finding out whether baby is a boy or a girl this time... Looking forward to a surprise!

Naturegirl82 · 11/12/2014 15:02

Has everyone had their flu jab? I realise I'm late to the party so you may have all had it weeks ago but thought I'd mention it in case people haven't. Booked in for mine next week.

Zampa · 11/12/2014 15:07

Re. gender, I'll be going for the Harmony blood test to detect chromosomal abnormalities and will find out if it's a boy or girl at the same time. Providing all goes well prior to then, I should find out before the end of January.

WantToGoingTo · 11/12/2014 15:14

Work Xmas do tonight and they are all big drinkers. Still in office and 2 of then have already asked me if I am pg!! I denied it but don't think I was v convincing am sure I went red Confused don't know what to do as drinks are free I am not driving and now they will be watching me like a hawk...

WantToGoingTo · 11/12/2014 15:16

nature I had my flu jab free at work as I work for nhs

misseskimo · 11/12/2014 15:17

itsnot I'm mixed race myself, dunno if I can help though!? Smile

naty weird you should say that about girls being hardier. My mum had two mc and a sb in between me and my two sisters. She knows that the sb was a boy, and swears the two mcs must have been also as she managed to keep all 3 girls Hmm

Scan was good! Little baby wriggling around in there! So relieved.

I'll be finding out. I knew with dd and loved knowing.
I would agree don't discuss names with people though. I didn't think it would bother me at all, but I got all sorts of opinions I would rather have not had!

WantToGoingTo · 11/12/2014 15:33

So pleased ibelieve!

Think we will also keep quiet about names - we have pretty much already decided but not sure of the welcome our girls name would get but we love it so would rather jut wait and see and announce the name once lo is born :)

Threeplus1 · 11/12/2014 15:43

I couldn't care less if people don't like the name we choose. When we named dd1 people kept saying it sounded old fashioned, yet everyone loves her name now (and it's so not old fashioned!) As long as you and your dp love it (and it won't subject the LO to years of school bullying or job discrimination!) who cares?!

Only problem I have is that me and dh never agree on names....
