Thank you to all second timers who are instilling in me the need to do my pelvic floor exercises! I've been a bit crap at doing them so far but the last few days I've done them religiously. And squeeeeeze...

BrixtonBunny · 27/11/2014 12:48

Ebwy we're going to have to pick two names Confused

We're focussing on girl's names at the moment, as it's more likely - we have a possible contender which I love and which DP seems to be warming to as well. If he changes his mind it will be back to the drawing board though... It's so hard!

Which name are you road testing at the moment?

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 27/11/2014 12:55

cinnamon Just wanted to echo what everyone else has already said - sorry that you're having this extra worry but hopefully you're reassured that you're in good hands and it's been picked up early. Like you say the stress will do no good, so keep positive and know that you and LO are on their radar.

bananatoast couldn't agree more. After one sneeze-wee and one cough-wee yesterday, I will be so naive to think this only happened after having a baby. Squeeeeezing here too!

We're set on a boys name: Rory and I THOUGHT we were set on a girls too but DH is now debating whether he likes it again as he thinks it's an old dears name. Gutted because it really is my favourite girls name and I can't get it out of my head: Marnie. I'm sure I'll be able to convince him back to it again, although this weeing business is doing me no favours! Ha!

BrixtonBunny · 27/11/2014 12:58

OneDay I love the name Marnie! Very sweet - not at all old fashioned!

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 27/11/2014 13:04

Thanks brixton I love it too and can't get it out of my head but DH is on the fence (despite loving it before)

Who knew people had such strong opinions on names!? Have you seen the baby name threads?? Wowzers!

FreedomHuntress · 27/11/2014 13:43

OneDay, I think Marnie is super cute. It says sass to me, not old lady. (Not that old ladies can't be sassy!) I also like Rory for a girl - full name Aurora. I also love Meredith.
Doesn't matter what I think though!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 27/11/2014 14:04

we're road-testing a few.. traditional welsh names, not going in to details because I am "out" on here and we aren't telling about the names until it's a done deal. it'll save us from people thinking their opinion matters!

Having to road-test because my partner is english and needs to get used to them! LOL I gave him a list and let him veto any he didn't like.

Nunkie · 27/11/2014 14:11

Hello Everyone - how are you all?

Been abroad for a couple weeks so just popped in to check up and (very belatedly, as it was back on the 12th right before we went away) report that the 20-week scan went well (sonographer was lovely, too. Pointed out thumb-sucking attempt on scan pic - tho I'm more convinced Peanut was going in for good old a nose-pick! Like Mother, like son-or-daughter :0)
Also discovered I can join the Anterior Placenta Club, which I was quite relieved to hear as I hadn't felt much.. Have felt plenty of 'rolling' sensations, since, tho, and am now 21 + 2 :0D

Something bonkers happened practically overnight, tho: I got on the holiday flight with a small bump, and seem to have got off at the end looking about 8 months preggers - hahah. The only time it subsides a bit seems to be first thing in the morning. It literally seemed to pop out overnight. Could a long haul flight trigger something like that? Surely not? (and it's my first so no shape 'memory' involved!)

The other thing is I am now notably rubbish at climbing stairs and staying out of the toilet more than five seconds at a time. Has anyone else reached a similar tipping point where everything really kicks in overnight and they start feeling really pregnant? :0D
And restless legs seem to have got a whole lot worse, too - still all of this is better than feeling constantly nauseous/tired. Am generally okay as long as I can sit and eat something once an hour.

Cinnamon, I gather from a brief scan of the last few pages you may be having some concerns as a result of your scan - really sorry to hear that (and also about your cat :0( ), and wishing you all the best. It sounds like there is a plan in place to mitigate complications, tho, and good medical care on hand..? Anyway, thinking of you and your peanut. Flowers. Sounds like you are due some good luck after these challenges, so I am sure it will come.

Brixton, did I read correctly that your partner has problems with Chronic Pain? If so, i wanted to point them towards a charity:

www.awaywithpain.co.uk

It was founded by a very brave friend who very sadly lost her own fight with chronic pain just before I went away. So this is her legacy. I had meant to pass it on before I left but didn't have time. Please do pass it on to anyone battling chronic pain conditions.

Nunkie · 27/11/2014 14:12

PS: Marnie is a great name!

FreedomHuntress · 27/11/2014 14:33

Nunkie, your poor friend, what a tragic story. :( Life is not fair at all. I am sorry for your loss. Puts everything into perspective.

BrixtonBunny · 27/11/2014 14:44

Nunkie that's so sad, I'm sorry xxx Yes you remember correctly (I'm impressed!) my DP has chronic pain issues, we don't know why. He's had so many tests etc but no answers. I'll definitely show him the website, thank you.

I've also felt much more pregnant the last couple of weeks - feeling more defined movement (kicks!) and suddenly belly feels huge. And am also hating stairs. Grin I've got a big old sexy stretchmark starting too. I also found out a scan I have an anterior placenta, but it's higher than baby, who is still quite low down by the feel of the movement.

So glad you had a good scan xx

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 27/11/2014 14:55

ebwy we aren't going to be telling Grandparents etc our name choices until LO is here either. Then they have to be nice or just lump it!

nunkie great news re your scan, and a thumb suck/nose pick! Either very cute when they're that small! Re your restless legs - have you had your iron levels checked recently as low levels can make restless legs much worse and your more prone to lower iron levels in pregnancy (sleep disorders is my line of work in the NHS) Your poor friend, how absolutely tragic.

I'm also in the anterior placenta club (well it was suspected at the 12 week scan) - there seems to be quite a few on here? Am hoping to be told it's moved a bit at my scan on Monday

FreedomHuntress · 27/11/2014 14:59

DS knows his sister-to-be's name, but that's it. So unless he spills, it will be top secret til she's born. If he does say it, hopefully we will brush it off and say that's just his imaginary friend, or something! :)
DS did tell his friend's mum about the baby though, so I did just say yes, it's true. Big mouth! But hoping not to tell anyone else til the 20-week scan.

BananaToast · 27/11/2014 15:08

I'm in a weird limbo period with people knowing. We've told all the important people we wanted to tell directly, but lots of people at work etc. don't know and I'm only mentioning it if it comes up - it seems weird to announce it when I'm not particularly close to them. I've noticed a few eyeing up my belly this week as I've stopped dressing to hide it and am just wearing whatever.

FreedomHuntress · 27/11/2014 15:11

I don't see a lot of people that I know regularly, really, and I barely have a bump (not under winter clothes anyway). I am enjoying the privacy right now.

18+3

Nunkie · 27/11/2014 16:25

Thanks, all, for your condolences re my friend.

Up until recently, I hadn't really seen her since school and was just rediscovering what a sweet, funny person she was - and how brave! Such a shame, but I think she'd had just about all a person could take.

As you say Brixton, it's such a difficult situation because it can be very hard to pin down the cause of it exactly. And it is quite often neurological, if I understand correctly, and therefore next to impossible to stop the brain thinking it's in constant pain, leaving many in a position where they can only manage the symptoms rather than cure them.

Good call on the iron levels, OneDay! I don't typically eat a whole lot of meat, tho do usually eat ridiculous quantities of leaves (esp rocket) and love pulses.. but have been away from my normal dosage the last couple weeks, so you could be on to something.
I also suspect other aggravating factors to be walking/running a lot and increased sugar...definitely had a few extra sugary treats than usual on holiday which I can now cut down on - along with traipsing the streets of Tokyo for hours at a time.
I'm sure I read something about potassium when it comes to a restless legs too..?

PS: good to see some anterior sisters on here :0D Assume Peanut is quite low down in comparison as that's def where I feel the 'rolling', and the sonographer didn't mention any concerns re everything being too low/ placenta previa, etc. (She did advise me to mention my mum had Placenta Accreta at my next midwife's appointment tho, which seems wise).

Hidingthefear · 27/11/2014 16:54

The sonographer didn't tell me where the placenta was, should I have asked?
baby wouldn't play ball and decided it wanted to stare at my back and refused to roll over so we'll be going back on the 16th as they have been unable to check the heart and the face. everything else seems ok so far she said and we found out that we're team Boy : D knew it haha
seen as we couldn't get a scan photo i'm going to nip to asda and buy a little outfit and send a picture to our friends of it in the wardrobe to let them know.
Although me and DH have already picked the name he still wants to keep that a secret which i kinda agree with because I don't want someones opinion ruining our name.
you Ladies are all nice though, and i've mentioned it before, but we're going with Max (Maxwell for long, and for when he's in trouble haha)

also due date is now 13th April so i guess i'm 20+3 (i'm terrible at maths so could still be wrong). not that 2 days makes ablind bit of difference in baby world.

Banana must still be exciting to have your little secret.

nice to see you back again nunkie

BrixtonBunny · 27/11/2014 16:58

Hiding congrats on your little boy! And it's nice you get another peek at him x

usernamefeefifoe · 27/11/2014 17:00

Hi,

I am due on the 11th April 2015.

Had our scan on tuesday, and didn't find out the sex!!!

Nice to meet you all!

Siarie · 27/11/2014 17:03

I'll be disappearing for a bit as well soon as I'm off on my babymoon. Going to miss my two little fur babies when I drop them off this Sunday.

Nunkie you've just hit the popping stage, I'm expecting it to happen to me as well. I had my first pop true last week and I think once I hit 20/21 weeks I'll be popping out again so I'm sure I'll be flying out smaller than I fly back haha

FreedomHuntress · 27/11/2014 17:17

hiding, Max is utterly awesome!

Welcome, feefi.

Enjoy your time away, Siarie.

Lauren82000 · 27/11/2014 17:33

I get to find out where exactly my placenta is next week. At 12 weeks he said it was left anterior but didn't write it in my notes. I don't reckon it is there at all as that is where I've felt the most kicks all over the left side and those first few kicks so doubt it's anywhere near the front tbh! If anything I'd say it was on the right as I've not felt much there at all.

TheBooMonster · 27/11/2014 17:37

Had our scan today, looks like we have another girl, and the placenta is still anterior but is higher up than it was (which I suspected anyway) DD's party also went off without a hitch so all in all we've had a good day, just have to get through an evening with some friends when all I want to do is crawl into bed!!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 27/11/2014 20:05

had this been a boy, he'd have been macsen - or macs for short :)

so I like your name choice, hiding

BrixtonBunny · 27/11/2014 21:12

We've just registered for a set of NCT classes starting first week of February - it feels like it's getting more real! Is anyone else doing them? They are quite expensive (our course is almost £300 Shock) but as we're first timers think it's worth it - if only to meet other people with babies in our area.
