On a hill not in one, I'm not a Womble!

tannyLoo · 05/12/2014 15:17

I have a good mental image of your home now, Little! Grin

I've been told I won't be allowed to go over term due to my advancing years. I've got an acupuncturist who does induction treatments, which I'd much rather have, so I have booked those to start once I get to 38 weeks. And raspberry leaf tea. And some good curries.

I also want to try and fight for a MLU delivery if possible. Don't ask....

LittleBairn · 05/12/2014 15:47

tanny hopefully its tider than it is right now. Grin

Is this a new thing inducing older mums? My friends mum (long time family friends) had her by suprise in her mid 50s and I know she shared a ward with my mum when she was overdue.

LittleBairn · 05/12/2014 15:49

Tidier.... Think DH is right I actually have given this baby my actual brain rather than make it one of its own!

LittleBairn · 05/12/2014 15:51

My gaff...

tannyLoo · 05/12/2014 16:46

It's odd, isn't it? My last pg was only 3 years ago and they treated me entirely normally, but now I've crossed that four-oh threshold I'm seen as seconds away from drawing my pension/getting a mobility scooter/dropping dead...

Not to say I don't feel my age, I do! Every minute of it!

Baby brain here too. Am totally useless at most things at the moment apart from Solitaire, and I'm whupping it's arse every night between 4 and 6am Grin

TinyTear · 05/12/2014 17:08

baby brain meant i nearly left the post office this morning without paying

With us 'more mature' ladies there is a greater risk of the placenta failing after 40 weeks so that's why the haste to deliver by the due date.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 05/12/2014 18:09

Im also likely to be induced due to my weird shaped uterus, the consultant said id be allowed to go a couple of days over but not by much. Im also possibly looking at a c section if hes breach at 38 weeks as he wont be able to turn or be turned.

My boss thinks its hilarious that im aiming for a home birth but equally ok with the idea of a c section, she said im going from lentil weaving home birth (shes a dr so not a fan of hb's) to the complete other end of the spectrum of surgery Grin

Toucanet · 06/12/2014 01:10

London hope you've felt some movement again, Little too; nothing here yet but trying not to worry as sounds common not to until >22 wks with anterior placenta (& maybe more so if 1st pg, or rather, 1st baby to get this far)? Would be great to have that reassurance though. (Or so it seems while not being kicked). But read to get checked if felt nothing by 24 wks.

My GTT's wk 28 but don't recall why (age 40 bmi 25)? So:
(10 dec - epilepsy nurse)
11 dec - midwife
(5 jan - neurologist)
19 jan - GTT
26 jan - 28-wk scan & consultant - seems a long way from 11 dec
30 jan - anti D

Also taken the plunge and booked antenatal classes which still feels surreal - though DH now says my shape has changed. Not sure, don't think I really look more pg but maybe a bit fatter higher up. Tbh could just be eating too much. Not terribly but too much & too many snacks (once pg stopped trying to lose weight so though should have cut out sugar, definitely consuming more than before). Also stopped the more active exercise I did do twice a week. Did worry when looked at 20-wk results though - head 40th percentile, femurs 50th, abdomen - 75th! I.e. a fat bean - sign of a slippery slope to GD if I don't ditch the chocolate?

Only natural to comfort eat a bit especially after an mc though smiling. Just told self no more milk chocolate though ...

Grrrrr. .....We are childfree for the weekend and I am awake!

Smiling I think with a lot of things -if you tick a certain box you get automatically put down for things.i have the glucose test because of my pcos and this time because of being 35. 33 weeks does seem too late. Last time I kept seeing mental health concerns on my notes (but no action) -I asked why and they said it was because I had had sleeping tablets in the past. I was more concerned that they thought I had mental health issues but weren't telling me or doing anything about it. Just wait till you have a dc -Â Health visitors are even more infuriating. They have so many questions(about 20) they know the standard answer to and then after that they just don't have a clue. When discussing the fact that baby led weaning wasn't going well, one recommended chocolate buttons. (Haven't seen one since.)

I don't have many appointments apart from the usual ones. Last time I had a growth scan because of my small bump. (Fairly sure that won't happen this time as probably about the same size as I was at 30 of so weeks pregnant last time.) Also, I will be staying put till he decides to arrive,no inductions/cs for me. That said dd turned up at 38 weeks and was ready by then so hoping that ds shows up around that time too. Have also gained a day or two this time so staying hopeful I won't go overdue.

Think I may be finally in my blooming stage. Really feel quite well at the moment and my hair is nice although my skin isn't great. Trying to get my fitness up again in the hope of trying to keep it as far as I can into the 3rd trimester. If only I could sleep like a normal person!!!

LittleBairn · 07/12/2014 16:14

LIG being in the blooming stage sounds nice, shame about the sleep.
The joy of health visitors eh I intend after the initial baby stage (don't want to red flag myself) to withdraw from their services.

I'm feeling ok I was worried about lack of movement the baby has seemed very quite the last few days but it moved around earlier finally, feels like the baby might be right behind my placenta now hence it feeling muffled.
Excited to be 21 weeks today fairly momentous fitting it's the first anniversary of loosing DD.

tannyLoo · 07/12/2014 16:49

Little yay and hugs. Must be a strange set of emotions, but you're still hanging in there...

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 07/12/2014 19:36

Big hugs from me little Flowers

woohoo on 21 weeks though Xmas Grin

I also plan on withdrawing from the health visitors after the baby stage, my experience through work isnt great regarding their services.

Ive been really emotional all weekend I just seem to keep bursting into tears and properly sobbing, bloody hormones Wink not helped im sure by the fact I cant sleep, I fall asleep about 10pm, get a good couple of hours but from 1am I just toss and turn. Over the weekend ive been falling back to sleep at 7 and sleeping till 9.30 which has made it manageable but thats not possible during the week when im working.

25 weeks today Xmas Grin

TinyTear · 07/12/2014 19:54

Yay for 21 Little!
And 25 smiling !

22+1 for me...

Busyish weekend with Christmas shopping, toddler theatre, and hoovering the place as I'd been a bit lax...

And now my DD wanted me to jump around, so have the 1992 song in my head reminding me of the Uni days and showing my age...

LIG1979 · 07/12/2014 20:51

little - well done on reaching 21 weeks and hope you are getting through dd's anniversary. The first one is always the toughest.

Tiny - sounds like a busy one. What is toddler theatre? sounds interesting!

Smiling - can relate to the sleep thing. I am not a good sleeper naturally but pregnancy is a killer for me. With dd I found towards the end I could only sleep for about 5 hours and then would need a couple of hours break. Not ideal with a job! It did mean that the newborn stage was much easier because at least I slept well between feeds.

just in bed - think I overdid the sugar today. ate too much party food this afternoon and then wasn't hungry at dinner so had ice cream instead. feel quite yukky now! (it was fun though.)

It was Stick Man ( the Julia Donaldson story)

Little, congratulations on reaching this milestone. And to everyone else to making it past 20 weeks :)

LIG, I can only eat small meals now due to horrendous heartburn. Ice cream sounds good though.

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow morning. If all is well then I will start telling people, not many know at the moment.

I'm off work today, my DS has had fever since early yesterday. I'm hoping & praying that I do not catch his viral infection.

20+1

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 08/12/2014 10:17

Im so tired, its only 10.15 and im already ready to curl up and go to sleep, thank god ive got a week off at christmas. 10 working weeks till maternity leave and it cant come fast enough!

I hope your DS feels better soon london and that you dont catch it.

LittleBairn · 08/12/2014 10:18

Thank you everyone I can't quite believe I'm still pregnant especially after last weeks drama only 20 days till V day! 21+1

smiling that's exactly my feelings on them too. I can keep an eye on my own babies weight and don't need their 'advice' if I have any concernes about health and development I can either see my GP or arrange private appointments.

Tiny that sounds like a fun weekend you must be the envy of all 2-5 year olds. Grin

London awe sorry about your poorly DS hopefully it doesn't develope into anything. I hope the 20 week scan goes well.

A lot of people, other than my immediate family, don't know I'm pregnant. My niece and nephew (8 & 10) recently found out I think because when I was in hospital they were with my mum when she found out.
I'm showing now so they would have noticed at Christmas.
They were devastated about DS so I didn't tell them about DD, I just don't want to distort their view of having babies my situation is rare.

We are thinking of telling my PIL on Christmas Day since we are only a few days off 24 weeks.

LittleBairn · 08/12/2014 10:20

smiling that sounds rough. Can you nap while the kids are at school or are you busy with nursery duties?

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 08/12/2014 10:44

Mondays my day for getting stuff done as im in school on tuesdays and thursdays.

ive changed both beds and am having a sit down whilst waiting for the washing to finish but I do need to tackle the playroom which is a good couple of hours worth of work its got a bit out of hand over the last couple of weeks.

im lucky that I dont have all that much to do, kids are old enough now to tidy their own rooms and oldest hoovers and dusts her own, ive refused to hoover now unless they carry it upstairs so boss has said not to worry she will do it. I basically dust youngests room, change beds, deal with tesco delivery, do kids washing and batch cook on Mondays then spend Tuesday and Thursday mornings in eldests class and afternoons in youngests class.

I cant complain my job is easy its just the hours which are killing me at the moment 7-7 and ive been doing extra days for the last couple of weeks. Usually I only work three days but ive done

5 days
5 days
4 days
5 days

in the last month, thankfully back to normal now but its the 5.15 alarm clock thats the problem, ive usually only just got back to sleep then im waking up again.

Also every job takes longer now which means im not getting things done as quickly as I used to, by 1 id be able to sit down for a couple of hours with lunch and a book, now I have to sit down inbetween jobs so am finishing everything just before school run time.

When does this pregnancy bloom kick in?

LittleBairn · 08/12/2014 12:43

Can you cut down the volunteering in class? I would be starting to winde back on the stuff that's extra. Will you get much of a Christmas break?

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 08/12/2014 12:52

If I cut out the school, my bosses will increase my nursery duties again so ill have more to do in the house, to be honest the school is ok, the teachers make sure I sit down and I mostly just listen to children read. I do plan on dropping it down to 1 day after christmas then stopping completely at the end of January.

Im off from the 23rd till the 5th so a nice break and I think im going to book the week before my maternity leave starts as holiday so ill only have 9 weeks left not including christmas week. Im already finding driving uncomfortable because my bump is touching the steering wheel.

when is everyone else planning on taking mat leave?
