London I too have an anterior placenta and don't feel much movement. The baby goes through periods of activity, I'm sure I felt him more earlier in pregnancy, and then I get long periods of nothing.
The most I've felt the baby was in surgery and recovery talk about a pissed off baby! But very little since but I've heard heartbeat and scans.

toucant glad you get a discount train travel is extortionate now a days.
Strangely no one mentioned a sex ban to me (we haven't anyway just incase) not like I could now anyway

lila I will now be scanned weekly as well as seeing the fetal med team and midwife.

Tiny its a oak bed I'd need some bricks! Yay for you nearing 22 weeks.

smiling yes they now do ante-natal visits I plan to decline I really don't feel its neccesary.

Today is the 2 year anniversary of my sons death, I never imagined I could ever be happy on this day but I do today because his sibling is so much safer now. I wish he was here too but I know I'll see him in the next life with his sister.
DDs anniversary is Sunday that will be harder because we've always felt medical negligence contributed to her death. We got some new evidence (basically comparing the two scans along with current Drs Shock face) yesterday that proves it. We will be holding them accountable and possibily instructing a solictor but for now we just want to enjoy our happiness and Christmas.

Is anyone else finding the coverage of the missing mother and newborn very upsetting? Sitting at my desk trying to not get too upset. Such sad news and horrible that it could happen. I feel so bad for the partner loosing his girlfriend and baby like that.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 04/12/2014 16:54

lig ive had to avoid the news because I was getting so upset, its so sad and I feel awful for all involved Sad

little I actually cant think of any words so am just going to send you Flowers and a hug x

I did think about declining the antenatal visit as the list of subjects she plans to cover feel a little like she will be teaching me to suck eggs but I decided to just go with it.

LittleBairn · 04/12/2014 18:48

smiling yes they are highly patronising to most mothers (I don't like the lack of privacy too I don't need to be 'monitored' for one thing) but as a nanny most of it is utterly pointless.

LIG its so tragic. Sad

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 04/12/2014 19:43

I figured it would cause more problems to decline than to just let her visit, ill just nod my head and smile.

Ive also got a letter about an appointment to go and have a test for gestational diabetes in January, its got my back up because it says reason for test - BMI Angry my bmi is 2 points over what it should be and apart from low blood pressure which I always have im perfectly healthy.

TinyTear · 04/12/2014 20:37

Smiling bmi has nothing to do with it.someone at work is teeny tiny and has gd

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 04/12/2014 21:18

So why have they decided I need to be tested when im not showing any signs plus its for the last friday in Jan when ill have about 7 weeks to go.

The letter really does say the reason is because of BMI

LittleBairn · 04/12/2014 21:26

Whilst all sort if people get GD they single out people for the GTT by using BMI which is notoriously unreliable.

LittleBairn · 04/12/2014 21:28

You can decline it shouldn't cause you any trouble. A bit silly to test you so late. By that point the main concern would be the baby's size but they can measure the bump instead then refer you for a scan if you measure above what is the target.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 04/12/2014 22:35

Since im having regular scans we will know the size of the baby anyway.

it really is just the fact no body has mentioned the test to me I just got a letter saying an appointment has been booked because of my bmi, it instantly annoyed me.

TinyTear · 05/12/2014 09:03

in my hospital they test everyone at 28 weeks, regardless of BMI

OP posts:
EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 05/12/2014 09:27

I have the GD test because I'm fat... meh.

it's a pain in my bum, but better than letting it possibly undiagnosed if it were to happen, I suppose.

it's the way they talk to me like it's a foregone conclusion that I will have GD that irritates... never had it yet and it's not like it's my first pregnancy!

LittleBairn · 05/12/2014 13:19

Ebwy I got that attitude a lot in my first pregnancy too a lot less. Ow I'm on my third pergnancy and never had it.
They did mention I had some sugar in my urine on Tue but decided it was because I had a hot choc and some dried apple. But I'm sure I will be tested at some point, that is if they remember to give me a midwife appointment I still haven't had one!

LondonSuperTrooper · 05/12/2014 14:15

I had to have GTT at 14 weeks due to my BMI. At my appointment yesterday, my consultant has booked me for a 28 week GTT test, again due to my high BMI. He asked me whether I wanted to see a dietician to which I said yes please. He then completely ignored me and told me to cut out sugar, junk food and fizzy drinks!

TinyTear · 05/12/2014 14:21

Ahrgh London that is frustrating...

But I would say the my dietitian last time did tell me to cut out juice, excessive sugar and carbs. to always have carbs but much smaller quantities on the plate - of the carbs...

and porridge for breakfast...

I had an appointment one morning when i had cereal and they said there was glucose in my urine, yesterday had porridge and the urine was fine...

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 05/12/2014 14:23

Ill be 33 weeks when they test.

I dont mind having it, anything that keeps the baby healthy is fine with me, its just the way its been done that I have a problem with, its not even as if its my midwife thats made the appointment its from the consultant midwife at the hospital who I met at 14 weeks so there's been no discussion just a letter.

LondonSuperTrooper · 05/12/2014 14:35

Tiny thanks for the healthy eating tips. Do you just have plain porridge?

Smiling I can see why you don't want to do the GTT - it's a bit late in the day isn't it?

Oh, and I was also told that I'll be booked for an induction on my due date. They want Bunny out on time - my age was a factor in this Hmm

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 05/12/2014 14:41

I just think at 33 weeks it seems a bit late especially if I get to that point with no indication that I have gd, im seeing my midwife on wednesday so will chat with her and see what she says.

TinyTear · 05/12/2014 14:42

in the week i have the Oat So Simple 2 minute one, and add a handful of cheerios to it for crunch and flavour...

At the weekend DH (as a Scotsman) makes proper one and I have it with a wee bit of brown sugar. When I had the GD I didn't have sugar or cheerios, but sprinkled some cinnamon on it...

I will have my ELCS a week before due date I think

LittleBairn · 05/12/2014 14:47

London that's such a frustrating attitude just to assume if someone is over weight then we must be eating loads of sugar and Junk food.
I'm over weight but I genuinely eat healthy (little junk, brown carbs, no fizzy drinks or sugary snacks) and eat average sized portions but my Dr really doesn't see the point in investigating my weight since I don't have the symptoms of anything.

To the induction, do you want one? If you decline they can usually instead offer monitoring every few days to keep an eye on things.

smiling I agree 33 weeks is rather late they are usually done much earlier.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 05/12/2014 14:53

I put on weight after my miscarriage, I didnt care what I ate so just grabbed something even if it was a bag of crisps and I didnt have the inclination to exercise, I barely left the house for 8 weeks.

then I got pregnant again so am still heavier than I was pre miscarriage even though I actually have a healthy diet and am fairly active I just didnt have time to loss it. Although I have a large bump I havent gained very much weight during pregnancy.

LittleBairn · 05/12/2014 15:03

smiling I'm the same very little weight gain, something I was worried about since I'm so inactive, but the Drs doesn't seem to give credit for it.

One of my main reasons for buying a pushchair rather than just using slings is long hilly (unavoidably I live in a hill Grin ) walks to aid some weight loss.
