I managed to find a plus size maternity swimsuit for £25. The package has just been delivered and I'm hoping that it'll fit!

LittleBairn · 01/12/2014 15:25

Tiny I have pelvic pain too fortunately I don't have to go anywhere but I sneezed today and felt like I dislocated my hip

There are supposed to be support belts that can help if your interested.

London my sympathies, we moved 18 months ago and the finning room is still full of boxes, DH has promised to put them in the attic over Christmas.

I had a frustrating morning when I found out the hospital didn't send my urine sample away for further UTI testing! Not impressed, I only called because it stung when I went to the loo, only once so far so not terribly worried. They did say I could come in for re-testing but since I'm going into foetal meds for my scans tomorrow tomorrow I'm going to try wait.

LittleBairn · 01/12/2014 15:25

Dinning room neither of us have finns...

TinyTear · 01/12/2014 15:55

I do have a bump band somewhere from last pregnancy, need to find it again...

My main issue (well it was last Friday, let's see how it is today) is when DD chooses to go to nursery in the scooter it usually means me running after her on the way back home...

"I'm making you run, mummy!!"
"pant pant, yes dear you are pant pant"

OP posts:
tannyLoo · 01/12/2014 18:16

Running?!? Bloody Nora, I'd be in a big blobby heap!

I picked up my maternity cossie last pg at mothercare in the sale rail for about £5. Hideous but doesn't scare the locals!

I've been getting some hip pain and it seems to be triggered by sitting in the car, which is a shame as I have to drive for my job. I have found sleeping with a pillow between my knees and scheduling a work from home day have been the only things that helped.

Little, hope you're coping with the boredom. Was trying to think of things that might help. Making Christmas cards? Hope you are feeling alright.

I had another dizzy spell at work today - think I need to get my blood pressure checked!

TinyTear · 01/12/2014 18:36

Last time I swam when only 16w so used the normal swimsuit...

Managed to convince dd to get the bus one stop so didn't run much

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 01/12/2014 18:48

Ive been looking at maternity swimsuits as I wanted to do aquabumps but the classes only run on days I work and I cant rely on my bosses to be home on time so would be late or end up missing classes and since you have to pay for a block of 6 id just end up wasting money.

I feel really ill today, light headed and have been retching and generally just feel strange, im not sure whether I should call someone or just put it down to being pregnant and overtired because im not sleeping well. Beany is moving around and kicking.

Tanny I'm doing ok it helps that I was prepared for bed rest and amassed a huge pile of books while TTCing although I'm not getting through them as fast as I though. I've even won a few books on Goodreads.
I can knit and sew a little but I'm rubbish at all other crafts.

smiling if your worried call your midwife or maternity assesment. I've had sudden bouts of nausea lately I'm putting it down to a hormone surge.
The dizziness might be low Iron you midwife can test you for it.

LittleBairn · 01/12/2014 22:21

shetland I hope your ok?

TinyTear · 02/12/2014 07:02

All I have to say is Heartburn, I didn't want much sleep anyways!

Shetland · 02/12/2014 07:47

Thanks littlebairn I'm ok - my blood pressure is low at the best of times but I seemed quite symptomatic yesterday - I'm drinking plenty now so hopefully it'll come up again. Last pregnancy I fainted in the middle of the office so I'm quite anxious to avoid doing that again - it was quite embarrassing!

Boo hiss to heartburn lila I've not had any of that yet - perhaps I'll escape it this time

20 week scan at 2 o'clock!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/12/2014 08:43

Good luck with your scan shetland

lila I sympathise with the heartburn, I discovered it was garlic giving me the really bad, up all night heartburn and since cutting it out ive been much better. I still get it but much milder and the gaviscon actually helps now.

I feel ill, my head, throat and nose hurt, my eyes sting and I want to go to bed Sad my boss is working from home so im wondering how unreasonable it would be of me to ask to go home. Shes currently taking the kids to school and all ive done since 7.30 is loiter whilst shes got them ready, she can get a solid 6 hours of work done whilst they are at school, but I hate taking sick days so feel bad for asking!

StuntNun · 02/12/2014 08:51

Does eating more salt help with low blood pressure or does it not work like that? I keep getting woozy and tired but a few bags of crisps soon sorts it out.

LIG1979 · 02/12/2014 11:29

All back from my 20 week scan - he is still a boy and every thing is at it should be Grin Grin. He was very cute sucking his thumb throughout the scan. Sort of thought I should start planning for the possibility that in April we will have a new member of our family which is a very scary thought.

Shetland hope it goes well today. Probably best to get your blood pressure checked but I had similar things with dd around the same time and was told it was pretty common. As someone who is prone to fainting/blacking out normally, I find keeping my blood sugar levels balanced (I.e. not too much sugar) and make sure that I sit whenever I can or if I stand, I jiggle about to keep the circulation going.

Smiling I hope you have gone home. I would think it is better to go home today and try and recover than struggling and risk the fact that you will not make it in tomorrow when it will be more difficult for your employers.

Lila ouch to the heartburn. It is horrible isn't it?

Tiny I think sticking to non-maternity costumes is a good idea. I keep getting through lots of maternity ones since they seem to disintegrate in chlorine. Need another one soon as my current one is all baggy from chlorine damage but may look into whether I can get either a chlorine resistant maternity one or just a normal one in a bigger size.

Great news lig :)

And thanks for the advice re blood pressure. I had been standing for a little while when it happened, and I had been shaking my legs around a bit (must have looked like a right plank) but in the end it was sit down or pass out.

Not sure about salt stunt - I was always just told to drink plenty.

Hope you're feeling ok smiling and that you're at home.

Right, I'd best start getting ready to leave - hospital parking is a nightmare!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/12/2014 12:49

Great news lig

im at home, I had a dizzy spell and my boss sent me home, luckily I dont work wednesdays so I can rest tomorrow.

I have low blood pressure and have been told to up my salt intake whilst pregnant as it will help.

Shetland · 02/12/2014 15:35

Glad you're home smiling

Scan was good :) Baby was very wriggly and uncooperative but they managed to see everything they needed to. And it's definitely a girl.

LIG1979 · 02/12/2014 15:58

Good news Shetland glad it went well. I am hoping uncooperative is a sign of greatness as my little one has not cooperated in any scan yet. (Well I lie - he was quite good during his 7 and 9 week scans.) I ended up being tipped upside down to try and get the view of his head they needed for the measurement.

LIG1979 · 02/12/2014 15:59

Also glad you went home smiling and you have a couple of days to rest and catch up.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/12/2014 16:55

Glad your scan went well shetland

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 02/12/2014 17:12

Only just found this thread.

I'm relieved, that was definitely movement! I was getting scared that history was repeating otself.

Toucanet · 03/12/2014 00:18

Welcome Ebwy! and congrats on your boy's and girl's scans LIG and Shetland! That's a relief.

Am starting to think after mine last week, especially now over halfway, that perhaps should start presuming that it will arrive instead of that it won't, else might indeed be a shock! Maybe in January it'll hit home, especially if suddenly develop a bump.

London good luck with the swimming, must dig out a cossie here. Wondering a little re placenta though - consultant said not worried about it being low-lying/covering os now as'll probably move, and it sounds like low anterior ones are more likely to move than posterior - they didn't say no exercise, actually suggested swimming instead of the antenatal program I'd asked them to sign me off for. But if you google or search mn for low placenta there's loads of women saying told no sex, no exercise, not allowed to fly etc! Even early & when not bled. Anyone got experience of low-lying, anterior or not? See MW next Thu, if she finds heartbeat will ask more about that (& tell parents about pg & try to start thinking positive. Still only told 2 friends + 3 colleagues). Wondering whether to have a break abroad still too - as did risk one night for work - just xmas markets for a couple of nights or maybe a week in the sun. Fortnight seems impossible due to hospital appointments. Didn't take one sooner for fear of mc'ing abroad meaning foetus wouldn't get examined and still got that in mind. But if too cautious can imagine kicking self come April if realise no foreign holiday likely for the next 10 years!

Tiny & Little, sympathy, hope your pelvic pain is subsiding. lila, the heartburn too! And smiling, yuck, definitely hope the retching is long gone! Feeling guilty-ish here for having zero pg symptoms still - though do worry re feeling no movement, despite knowing that's quite normal. Take care all! x
