My teeth look and feel rubbish this time around. Really need an appointment but no free dentist for me as all dentists around here are private! The one NHS one is ridiculously oversubscribed!

longbottom · 30/10/2014 22:37

Oh joys, think I have heart burn for the first time in my life! Burning feeling in throat and chest? Is this heart burn? What can I take?

Viperama · 30/10/2014 22:43

Hi Ladies. Are Braxton hicks meant to be painful, or can you just have hardening and tightening of lower bump?

I think I've had my first strong one this eve at 25+4, brought on by stress. Wadrobe installers chiseled through our block of flats mains water supply last night and it's been go go go since then until a temp fix was done late afternoon. My sister already here, my mom and brother arrived today.

All okay now thank goodness. But as I said to DP, this is nothing really. Baby puts everything into perspective!

Memphisbelly · 30/10/2014 22:56

Viper they can be, thimk main difference is proper contractions are normally timed apart where bh are all over the plsce sith length and timings? That sounds very stressful I hope they are out of your hair soon and hope others in the flat didn't give you extra stress from them having no power too.

Long yep sounds like heartburn you can take the rennie/gaviscon tablets that are like chalk or I rake remigel which are chewable or gaviscon, the gaviscon advance which doc can prescribe is most effective but thick and gross....if it continues then I suggest the tablet you can get from doc its a one a day one, I hope to grt it tomorrow as I feel like I have a fire brewing in my chest/throat.

Anyone else feel swollen downstairs? When I wipe (sorry tmi) I feel swollen not sure if its from being on my feet all day at work.

I cried tonight Sad dh was quite late from work I bought one of those season in a bag things you add chicken too (curry one) with all the extras to do a curry and forgot natural yoghurt, I am so exhausted I just sobbed, dh came in asked what I wanted and I said nothing so he made me beans on toast and sorted himself.

blankfornames · 31/10/2014 05:58

Viperama, the BH that I've been having for past few weeks are not painful. There's definitely a tightening, slightly uncomfortable feeling & the tummy will go rock hard. Ihad my 24wk check up yday & Doc told me they are a healthy sign & nothing to worry about. They happen sporadically, never know when they're going to happen!
I hope today is a less stressful day for you.

As for being swollen...very! I don't know myself down there anymore! No likey!!

thingsarelookingup · 31/10/2014 06:30

You've nearly made it to the end of your qualifying week frenetic! Last day. Then you can have a well earned weekend rest.

I know that feeling memphis. Sometimes it's the little things that just end up being too much. And I can be pretty particular about what food I feel like sometimes. Any chance the swollen feeling is due to thrush? I've heard the symptoms can be a bit different in pregnancy. Otherwise just all the extra pressure I guess. The glamour!

I keep reminding myself that this is my last pregnancy. I'm really not enjoying this pregnancy. I'm really, really excited and grateful to have a daughter on the way but the cooking part is not really all that fun.

BanglesSpangles · 31/10/2014 07:44

Morning all, happy friday!

After all the tooth talk yesterday, i flossed for the first time in ages- looked like a bloody vampire afterwards! Really think i need to book a dentist appointment

I don't think Ive had any braxtons... Wonder if its something to worry about. Will have to look out for them, perhaps Ive just not noticed, if thats possible

Memphisbelly · 31/10/2014 07:49

Blanks yes thats how I feel like oh bloody hell whos fanjo is that because it isn't mine Grin must be because he uses it as a trampoline still!

Things this is my last pregnancy too and desperstly want to enjoy it but I just don't.

No braxton hicks here yet either I don't think, didn't get them until about 35 weeks last time. Im getting waves of back pain though so not sure if this could be them or the fact that because baby is so low and far back still he is just destroying my spine.

blankfornames · 31/10/2014 07:54

Bangles, must people don't get BH until much closer to their due date. Don't be worrying! I'd rather not be having them, even though I know they're normal, still a little daunting!!

I know, Memphis, dtd is out of the question for me these days unfortunately.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 31/10/2014 08:02

Happy Halloween everyone!!

Oh no swollen mini and Braxton hicks! I've had neither something to look forward to I guess!

I am back to work Monday and wondering where I'm going to find the energy! I keep telling myself it's only 7 weeks but I just can't find the motivation!!

Memphisbelly · 31/10/2014 08:11

littlemiss no swollen bits last time for me....this is all new. obv expect it after birth but not now!

jenmcspen · 31/10/2014 08:13

Urgh, have barely slept for 2 nights and feel like a zombie Sad
Have a rare weekend off so just telling myself I just have to get thru today.

blankfornames · 31/10/2014 08:28

I feel your pain Jen, I've been awake at 4 every morning this week. I think I'll sleep better when baba arrives!!

bagofsnakes · 31/10/2014 08:29

Viperama I started with BH contractions this week (so 25/26 weeks), nearly every evening, pretty regular and uncomfortable but not really painful. I think that I get them when I've been doing too much. I starting with them on and off from about this time with my last pregnancy. Then I stopped getting them for a while before they came back full force about a week before I delivered DS.

Bangles A good friend of mine who had a her son a little before I had DS didn't feel any BH contractions at all at any point in her pregnancy. That did mean that when she went into labour, she recognized it for what it was straight way. I spent the first few hours of my labour convinced that it was just BH contractions, but in a way that was nice as I just went about my normal day.

BanglesSpangles · 31/10/2014 09:15

Oh cool, that's ok then- Thanks guys!

It's like the morning sickness thing again- everything I read says braxton hicks/morning sickness is a good thing, but nothing too day that if you don't have them its ok too!

Was trying to explain that they were to dh the other night and by yesterday he's forgotten the name and was calling them higgs bosons, so guess that's what they'll be known as in my house!

Viperama · 31/10/2014 09:23

Thanks for feedback all. Think I def had BH then, wasn't painful, just very odd tensing clenching tightening of the lower abdomen, like when baby moves and it's head is really pressing against one area, but everywhere,

I was sat next to my mom at the time and she didn't get them during any of her 4 pregnancies, and she is an efficient baby machine, so I'm feeling more relieved.
Her labours were 5.5, 3, 5 and 5 hours. I'm her mini, so hoping I take after her in this respect as well. I can't be doing with any of these 36 hour jobs I hear of!!

Memphisbelly · 31/10/2014 09:24

Bangles the only way I knew I was pregnant last time was massive boobs no other symptoms.
Im dreading afterpains and bleeding after he is born, I got neither first time round but second birth after pains are suppost to be awful.

Been on phone to my doctor I had a lovely say off planned shopping, eating etc but now have to go to my docs to see a midwife then a nurse then a doc they expect me to be in for at least an hour....all because of my headaches but have also said they cannot give me meds they just have concerms

Viperama · 31/10/2014 09:26

Higgs Bosons, v funny Bangles I like it

Memphisbelly · 31/10/2014 09:28

Viper 3 days of contractions every 7 mins followed by 44 hours of active labour here last time

Viperama · 31/10/2014 09:29

Good luck for your appointment Memphis
