Just ordered a sling/wrap this morning, so that's another thing off the list.

It's a bit slow at work at the min, so trying to get through my To Do list when it's like this.

Looking at baby monitors next, though delegated that one to DH as I haven't a clue.

Still need to pick out the nursery furniture, bedding etc, that will be next weekend I think. Dmil has kindly offered to buy this, but she wants us to get organised soon on that.

I'm not a big cath kidston fan, but I do fancy the cowboy print for nappy bag if they still do it.

Going shopping on thurs to start the Xmas shopping and have a look round the baby shops as I've done most of my browsing online so far and I haven't has a proper look since finding out it's a boy Smile

donkir · 27/10/2014 13:14

I got a free change bag with pushchair but it's quite small. Theresa great page on Facebook called Funky Little Bugs and I'm considering getting a Marvel one made. They're about £45 for bag, mat and mini wet bag. There's loads of fabrics to choose from.

BanglesSpangles · 27/10/2014 13:26

We had a demonstration of a bag at the show- totally scoffed at the time- i even said to the bloke 'how do you demonstrate a bag?!', but actually, i want it now- and on looking at the John Lewis one, the company makes one that's 'exclusively for uppapaby', so I want that (it's cheaper than the normal ones for some reason!)

This www.johnlewis.com/uppababy-paternity-changing-bag-black/p1489053

Sling-wise, im in the 'likely to get confused by wrapping and knots and stuff' camp, but i quite liked the idea of one of the sort of rucksacky looking ones that you wear on your front

Peppermint- baby technology has been delegated to my DH too- will probably end up with something resembling CCTV :D

JacktheLab · 27/10/2014 13:50

Afternoon all :)

I'm having a couple of days off, been running around all morning and finally taken ds to nursery for the afternoon and have been buying some bigger bras and having a coffee (decaf) waiting to go to get my hair cut :)

Tomorrow I'm taking the boy to nursery and then going home for a lazy day to myself Wink

Hope everyone is feeling a little better today?

longbottom · 27/10/2014 14:24

I love the cowboy bag but I don't know what we are having, so needs to be neutral!
I had totally forgotten monitors, a friend has a CCTV type one and it looks pretty good, but expensive! I think we will go with a bt one again.
I couldn't get on with a sling with DD and she hated it! Got a cheap bjorn one of eBay last time so may do that again.
I really want to put everything together, but it seems very early?!

sandulacek · 27/10/2014 15:52

I love that you all keeping me on my toes and getting me organised! Yet to make a purchase but some shortlisting is going on Grin

hanflan · 27/10/2014 16:20

I'm going for the Babymel Cara with navy stripes. I love it as it's just the sort of thing I would choose for a handbag and not too expensive!

Looks like a couple of us have gone for the Uppababy Vista too, we ordered ours last week in Ella Jade (it was a close call between that and the navy!). I can't wait for it to arrive so I can play with it haha!

Sling wise, I have a second hand Baba Sling which I got dead cheap and will probably use it for breastfeeding, then will use the Caboo for out and about.
I love baby things/gadgets! Can you tell?!

Memphisbelly · 27/10/2014 17:13

Sil gave us some monitors last time as we really didnt need them we had a detatched house then and I hear so well I could hear a mouse fart but they were radio ones and awful we heard other monitors from flats next door which was creepy and lots of buzzing so bought the Tomy digital ones, didn't want a camera one as I would stay up all night watching it instead of sleeping.

Well I have spoken to people in the past about the Cath Kidston bags and read so much about the lining once you have any weight in bag splits near handle, obv doesn't take away from the look of bag but as they are pricey it put me off.....spoke to a neighbour who has more patience than me and likes new challenges to get her sewing better she said if I bought a secondhand one she would reline it all for me! So I got a barely used one on buy it now for £20! The mat and bottle warmer were srill in wrapper! Shock

So now have the cowboy one on its way and will get a handbag one for when im out and about. Some people really don't see the need in them but I used mine for 18 months, its like muslins I never used them but people swear by them (bought more this time still though as thought people like to protect their clothes from milk/vomit)

Also rang Disney about our dec trip, and booked dog into kennels and also got everything for ds's school trip...lost my notebook with my baby lists in I need to find it I have bought a highlighter to cross things off it.....yes I am that sad

PeppermintInfusion · 27/10/2014 17:51

Yes just seen the CK bags have ripping issues, and the inside doesn't look all that great anyway- don't think I can justify the ££ for a new one.

jenmcspen · 27/10/2014 18:57

Hope everyone who has been struggling is okay tonight and that things start to improve (where is this bloody mythical glow!?)
Going to order our uppababy vista next week. Am 99% settled on navy now. ..I think!
And couldn't resist getting my changing bag already. I knew I wanted a babymel and got one with beige hearts on a white background on offer from mamas and papas Grin

Memphisbelly · 27/10/2014 19:10

Well after getting excited about this nearly new changing bag with a small rip in lining I told dh when he got home for him to say (before I got to the bargain used bag part of story) 'I will buy you it and the leather look one if thats what you want, you have had a crap few days' Shock ......'but isn't there a real leather one you like more than the leather look one?' whaaaattttt? He is never generous like that!

Mimosa1 · 27/10/2014 20:21

Hi ladies,

Hope everyone is well. I've just come back from a few days in the country with my inlaws. We had a lovely time. Was especially nice seeing DH play with his two year old nephew - made me think what a great dad he'll be, although we both got a bit of a shock at quite how loud and energetic Dnephew is in the (very early) morning.

For those of you in the market for slings, mother are has an offer at the moment in their own brand one -£12 from £40. It's supposed to be up to 18 months and can be worn front or back facing. It's the only thing we've bought - need to get cracking on my list!

DH is planning to take additional statutory paternity leave when the baby is around 5 months old for 3 months, which is when I'd be going back to work, so we need a unisex looking changing bag. Bangles, I really like the look of the one you posted, but we won't have an uppa vista pram. Anyone else have some good unisex recommendations?

Wishing you all a good week/half term and sending lots of positive thoughts to those of us on bedrest or feeling lousy.

X

LittleMissSunshine33 · 27/10/2014 20:51

I have a matching changing bag to my pram and car seat ... Too far??

Has anyone heard of lightening crotch? OMG! It stopped me in my tracks when shopping today and has been plaguing me ever since! Had to look it up to make sure it wasn't serious as the pain was immense someone called it fanny daggers that is exactly what it felt like! Anyone else experienced it?

Memphisbelly · 27/10/2014 20:59

Littlemiss I had the matching bag first time round but it had rubbish pockets and I hated it as you had to rummage to find anything.

Fanny daggers yes I get this
didn't realise it was a thing though it feels like someone is kicking my in my fanjo with stilletos on......I also get what I call 'shooty arse' same sort of breathtaking pain in my arse that stops me in my tracks......I get that more than fanny daggers Grin

LittleMissSunshine33 · 27/10/2014 21:35

Oh no both ends! I don't get that one yet hope I don't! it's so painful! Apparently it's the baby being low down and on a sensitive nerve! I hope it doesn't last!

Memphisbelly · 27/10/2014 21:47

I only get the daggers when on my feet so I use this as an ex use to lie down Wink

longbottom · 27/10/2014 22:47

I get it both ends, nothing worse than being sat in a meeting and getting a hit of the fanny daggers!

blankfornames · 28/10/2014 07:21

Has anyone experienced Braxton Hicks this early in their pregnancy. I'm 23 weeks and have been getting this real hardening all around my belly. When I said it to my sister yday, she said that's what it was & that's it's normal at this stage, just the body preparing itself. Quite daunting if it is.

Also, nearly passed out on a walk yday, just got extremely weak & sweaty & had to remain on my hunkers for a few minutes. Had my 2yr niece asleep in the buggy, so knew I couldn't faint! Could this be iron levels? I've my 24wk doc app. on Thursday, can she check levels with urine?

Memphisbelly · 28/10/2014 08:11

blanks it may just be a slight drop in blood pressure I have fainted a few times and mw wasn't concerned but worth mentioning

sandulacek · 28/10/2014 08:23

Think iron levels are done by the bloods.

We had first kicks yesterday...strong enough for DH to feel. He was chuffed. 23 weeks.

PeppermintInfusion · 28/10/2014 08:50

Blanks, I've been getting dizzy too when out walking, also slight shortness of breath at times. MW said it's to do with BP, everytime I've been my BP has been on the lower end of the normal range but must drop lower occasionally.

donkir · 28/10/2014 08:54

Blank I'm 25 weeks and have had braxton hicks on and off for a few weeks and they are perfectly normal.
Also at this stage of pregnancy dizziness and fainting can be quite common due to sudden blood pressure drops.

blankfornames · 28/10/2014 09:01

Thanks so much ladies. Feel very reassured again!

freneticfox · 28/10/2014 10:03

It's only Tuesday. Oh my god. And it's already 25c in this office. I raised concerns last week about the fact our office was reaching 25-27c by 11am and I was basically told to shush. HR said they can't do anything because I'm the only person that has a problem with the temperature in here.

I have two fans on me today. And people think it's funny. Loathing being here at the moment. Loathing it.

thingsarelookingup · 28/10/2014 18:42

Frenetic that sounds awful. I love the heat but that is pushing it for autumn.

Blanks that does sound like low BP. Keeping up fluids and making sure you eat regularly might help. Otherwise you just need to sit down when it happens.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I am feeling much better today and managed to get quite a lot done at home which feels really good. I still have a bit of bump pain, I think it is just sore muscles after vomiting. It's getting better but not quite there yet.

Haven't heard from viper or royal recently. I hope all is well for them. They were both on bed rest still if I remember rightly.
