wee onion your wee gathering sounds lovely ... Im craving a wee dram !!

Thats me going to bed, will set my alarm for 5 am ... But thats my natural wake up call the now anyway, hope you get some sleep binky with all that snoring going on Wink

binkybunny · 19/09/2014 00:46

Having to head to bed too, keep nodding off on the sofa but not sure if I'm going to sleep. Not only dh snoring but my baby seems to be sticking her head and arms really low down into my pelvis. I actually feel like she's trying to push out of my pelvic floor Shock

weeonion your party sounds great, mmm hot choc and whisky Smile

pusscous · 19/09/2014 00:54

Wishing flip and jelly belated birthday wishes. Your son sounds very sweet flip. And thanks for all the tips have been making notes of them. All birth classes are of the same genre here; friends from the north and East Coast are finding many things hard/ different to adjust to here. Nothing against an epidural, but am risk of serious injury to hip and or knee joints due to previous conditions. Need to feel the discomfit/ pain in those areas to take preventive action; I've been waking in the middle if the night with knee cap starting to dislocate, need to avoid joint and ligament damage so not recovering from that as well as birth

Excited have been thinking of you all day, hope you managed to get some answers out of the consultant.

Slide and fedup sending lots of hugs your collective directions. Hope that both your situations improve shortly (no experience to add insight help, just support) I do hope that the builders have been productive with this time fedup.

Yellow good luck with the labour, hope it precedes well for you.

pusscous · 19/09/2014 00:56

Good luck with the sleep binky that sounds a really awkward position

queenasanti3 · 19/09/2014 01:45

SadConfused, just woke up and been vomiting hope I haven't caught something nasty, could really fo without being ill right now this was meant to be the start of relaxing these last few weeks before all the craziness happens x

FlipFantasia · 19/09/2014 01:51

Queen urgh to vomiting. Hope it passes soon.

Puss how odd that there aren't more choices - are you in LA area? Or more central (foggy CA geography!). The home study hypnobirthing stuff may be great for you. I've never felt the need for an epidural - breathing and visualisations and staying relaxed means I actually look forward to labour (check out troubleandfyfe's birth story for a positive hypnobirth type experience). Also Ina May Gaskin (aka the guru of American midwifery!) and the juju sundin book (which I've not read) gets a big MN thumbs up. Also get your DH on side in terms of understanding what can happen - is a doula an option?

Weeonion that sounds fab! Historic turnout - amazing to see democracy in action whatever the result.

pusscous · 19/09/2014 02:47

Much further north than LA- much more of a hippy area. Strange. Have the juju book as well as hypnotherapy book. Loved reading troubleandfyfes story. That's what I'm hoping for. I have a lovely and supportive OB and am a natural researcher so well informed just find options so limiting such a surprise compared to uk- common perception there is that USA is world leader and should have more choices not fewer Confused. But hey; I do have a good plan of action.

pusscous · 19/09/2014 02:48

Are you watching the voting coverage flip? Really nice it being at a reasonable time for us

pusscous · 19/09/2014 02:56

The doulas here seem to be more for advocating and translating the medical jargon which hubby and i don't need. The hospitals in our area or reasonable driving distance (!) like to manage/ control birth, much more bed bound, but will be active myself even it means telling staff to disappear if they don't like it. Lots of reading up/ research on active birth. Ob says some of the nurses clued up on it, so could get some decent support. Just lacking decent classes, oh well will cope, many at home don't take classes.

Mamami · 19/09/2014 03:06

Just woke to almighty cracks of thunder and lightening over North London - convinced myself that Scotland must be breaking away & it was being signalled by this storm. This really is a rubbish time for a journalist to be on maternity leave. If this overactive imagination gets any worse then I might just be cracking out a 50 shades over this year off. Hmm

binkybunny · 19/09/2014 03:20

So managed 2 hours sleep and woken up feeling pretty ill. Sore lower stomach, cold sweats and feel like I need to run to the loo. DH is still snoring and I'm going to actually suffocate him soon!

Also very dissapointed that there are already loud shouts on news Facebook pages of the vote being rigged. I'd hope whatever the outcome everyone would just accept it and get on with life, but it looks like that was wishful thinking! Might just get back up and watch the results now they are starting to come in.

FlipFantasia · 19/09/2014 03:24

Am watching election results live - STV no less, since BBC just won't stream for us. Looking like a no. Was lovely to hear the Gaelic as the western isles declared. I can't understand it spoken but reading it reminds me of Irish.

Puss, we thought we didn't need a doula first time around but I think we would have had a better experience with one (had actually planned a homebirth). I was kind of zoned out (hypnobirthing) but DH was quite terrified as things went pear shaped almost immediately with my induction and my crash section was quite traumatic for him. Hearing midwives and doctors talk about possible brain damage and the like. Second time around i credit our doula with really helping me achieve a vbac (and making sure dh had the support he needed to support me properly). She was very sensible and hands off, but got me through a panicky transition (when I totally thought it would all go pear shaped again!). We're not having a doula this time around as we'll have two (v supportive) midwives and a dedicated labour & delivery nurse and I think that's enough. But if I hadn't had a good vbac I would be having a doula again (we also have a money pit of a house and the money not spent on a doula is going into our basement reno fund!).

CellyD · 19/09/2014 03:25

I'm up too, sitting outside of DD's room as the thunder woke her up and she's a bit scared. DP slept serenely through the first 20 mins of the storm and only woke up for 30 seconds to mutter something like that was loud when the thunder sounded like it was about to come directly through our front windows. So much for him agreeing to do the night shift with DD if a storm did arrive as predicted Hmm

CellyD · 19/09/2014 03:28

Just read back, queen and binky hope you both feel better soon.

SweetPeaPods · 19/09/2014 03:42

I'm up too thanks to this stupid cough. Mums convinced it's going to put me into labour. Might not be a bad thing, then I can take some proper drugs to help paracetamol is just not enough !! Just made a hot honey & lemon and it's made no difference Hmm
Quite nervous about going back to sleep as not sure what result I'm going to wake up to. Looks like there are count delays in many areas.

binkybunny · 19/09/2014 03:52

I've ended up getting up recamping to the sofa, I actually want to murder DH with his stupid snoring, lip smacking and moany groany noises he makes in his sleep Angry

On the plus side I can watch the results, although looks like we're going to need a new tv on pay day as the sounds gone crackly and the pictures just gone green and purple!

Getting a bit concerned at the lower pain , what do early labour pains feel like Confused

pusscous · 19/09/2014 05:27

Flip, that first labour does not sound good, but am glad to hear of the doula providing a good second experience. Most things I hear about inductions in first labours seem that they can cause more problems- I'm intrigued, would you mind saying what the problem was? But please don't feel pressured to. Honestly wondering if a csection is better than an induction in some situations (though this is a controversial idea).

Been watching the Bbc coverage, but my body clock is now a bit screwed up- it's 21:24 here in CA not 5am, feel more tired than I should be.

Hope queen, sweet pea and binky are ok

SummerDreams13 · 19/09/2014 05:35

Jen - I'm with you on the tiredness. I've got a small pile of coloured baby clothes that need a wash and I spent much of yesterday lethargically thinking 'I really must wash them'. They didn't get done! Also 37 weeks - maybe nesting comes later??!

Goats - thanks for posting re lower movements and everyone else for replying. I'm super rubbish at belly mapping but had noticed some wince making movements coming very low down. This baby's been head down for 10 weeks and was worried it had fancied a change, but sounds like lower movements are normal at this stage. What a relief!

puppythedog · 19/09/2014 05:44

We have gotten up to watch the results. It will be interesting to see how the consequences of the result pan out.

binkybunny · 19/09/2014 06:07

Still up, still having cramps low down and a bit of an upset tummy. Think my baby is doing quite a dance in there as feeling relieved for the first time in weeks. Hoping we can all just get in with life now!

clops2000 · 19/09/2014 08:14

badger where did you get your wrist splint from, glad its been helpful. Can't decide whether to just put up with it now for the last couple of weeks... up early to get my work finished so I can officially feel like i'm on mat leave this evening :) :)
My gut feeling that things are close has changed today now I'm used to the more frequent BHs, thinking he'll stay put till nearer due date in 2 weeks which will mean I get time to nest properly and hopefully really feel ready for his arrival.
Sorry to hear about all the messing around cj, hope someone starts making you feel more supported soon and less like you're in the middle of an (un-professional) argument :(

binkybunny · 19/09/2014 08:28

Hope everyone up with the storm or not feeling well managed to get some sleep. I've just had an hours this morning and feeling worse for it Sad.

Still sweating and not feeling great, At the mw in an hour so atleadt I can speak to her then.

excited hope things go better for you today and for you too slide and fedup

bumpbangbump · 19/09/2014 08:41

Last day at work today!! Happy mat leave to me. Better get going as I'm going to be late...

Excited I'm sorry to hear you've been mucked about, what a joke. A bit of consistency makes all the difference.

Hope our babies are doing better today x x x

Kirstipops · 19/09/2014 08:45

Wrist splints didn't seem to work for my CPT :( You should be able to get them from physio clops tho I was given a nearly-new pair by my gran! I'm of the same thinking as you tbh, just going to stick it out and hope it goes when baby arrives! If not then I'll definitely see a doc then.
Hope you feel better soon binky.

binkybunny · 19/09/2014 08:50

Thanks kirsti DH has already called this morning, he thinks I'm going into labour. I did look a bit of a mess when he got up for work this morning!
