Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ExcitedCJ · 18/09/2014 13:51

I'm not sure I can handle any more of this pressure!!!!
I have just spoken to the Doc who has now said that I could go anytime between here & Timbuktu! I am being discharged & have to come back to hospital daily for monitoring & every second day for cord blood flow monitoring until a SCBU bed is available which may not be for weeks.
I am really trying to keep a handle on this!

SweetPeaPods · 18/09/2014 13:53

Nightmare. Can you transfer to a different hospital?

madamweasel · 18/09/2014 13:54

Oh CJ, I'm so sorry it's so up in the air. Just try to take one day at a time and do things that help you take your mind off the waiting. Are box sets any good?

mrsb87 · 18/09/2014 13:55

That's awful cj! Can't you be transferred? They seemed so desperate to get you in before!

binkybunny · 18/09/2014 13:56

Excited really feeling for you. Hope an scbu place comes up soon for you.

LondonJen · 18/09/2014 14:14

Sorry Excited that's so frustrating (understatement of the year)

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 18/09/2014 14:24

Oh Excited how awful! Hope you don't have to wait too long.

ExcitedCJ · 18/09/2014 14:28

I just don't understand how something that was a priority before is now not so urgent & I can go home again?!

gunwalloe · 18/09/2014 14:36

mrsbad it's good to know its something that happens to others I was worrying it was a sign there was something wrong with the placenta

CJ that sucks! remind me why they wanted to deliver early? My baby brain can't remember.

Me23 · 18/09/2014 14:44

gun thanks for the list and new thread.

jelly happy birthday for yesterday.

yellow glad you are gettig to go home and labour somewhere a bit more relaxing. Keep an eye on those contractions! How far are you from hospital?

excited sorry things are up in the air right now. On a positive note at least baby is doing well enough inside that the drs are not rushing to get him out.

Sept/oct in notorious for manic maternity units! (What was I thinking gettig pregnant in jan you may ask well 1. It wasn't planned and 2. All my colleagues are jealous as I don't have to work the busiest months of the year! They think it was a cunning plan to escape!)

slide and fedup I feel for you both Ds was in scbu with hypoglycaemia and suspected sepsis he was tube fed as needed some formula as sugars were very low. But we got through it and he was bf for 2 years! I was in bits while he was in scbu I'm sure all the nurses thought I was crazy.

Have a meeting with the head of dd new school tomorrow to enrol her, she's very excited. Though it will be a busy school run for me as her brother is starting nursery next week At her old school and they both start at 9 so I will be late dropping him off every morning!

I'll be 37 weeks on Saturday still need to build crib and assemble buggy and buggy board.

FlipFantasia · 18/09/2014 14:51

ExcitedCJ what a nightmare! Must be an emotional rollercoaster.

Me lol at your colleagues thinking it's all a cunning plan to avoid the busiest months!

I had a #fail this morning. Insisted the kids walk to preschool. All grand until my trainers gave me blisters and I had to hobble home doing my hypnobirthing breathing! First time I've worn them (or in fact anything except birks/saltwater sandals/flip flops) in about 5 months - looks like my feet have expanded!

ExcitedCJ · 18/09/2014 14:54

Hi Gun GD is very acute, baby is big & previous history EMCS with preeclampsia. Worried baby might start to struggle, HB was high & my sugars were effecting activity levels. Apparently all very urgent last week!
So distressing.

LondonJen · 18/09/2014 14:59

Does everyone else have this debilitating level of tiredness? I've barely done a thing all week, am sleeping better than I have been but am constantly tired. I don't even have other kids to look after like some of you. I'm 37 weeks. I guess it's to be expected but I really want to be getting things done round the house. Where is the mythical nesting energy?!

gunwalloe · 18/09/2014 15:05

CJ that's so awful and so stressful are you in a area that has other hospitals close?

OP posts:
Kirstipops · 18/09/2014 15:13

Jeez CJ that's shocking :(

YellowWellies · 18/09/2014 15:24

Teamthedog great news!

CJ argggggh.... nightmare. If it's any help whilst Tuesday was utterly manic at the hospital I was in, Wednesday and Thursday were quieter and they were able to catch up on the backlog of sections. Fingers crossed you just get enough of a wee quiet spell to have your baby.

Me I can see the hospital from our garden - it's literally a five minute walk away, I think that's why they were cool with me wanting to go home.

Have just stuck a wash on, replenished my hospital bag - thinner vests needed it was soooo hot in there! And on the way home we managed to vote (got a round of applause from the yes folks when they saw my hospital wrist band!) and to pop into Mothercare to get some more tiny baby clothes - that way I don't have to sort through the vacuum bags of J's old clothes until after baby is born and we know whether it'll all be used or ebayed.

Was having some decent contractions wandering round Mothercare! DH was looking very terrified. Hope I don't miss the referendum result tomorrow morning.

Me23 · 18/09/2014 15:26

excited sorry you are going though this. Was it a consultant you spoke to? If not I would demand to speak to one.

Apart from last night I have also been sleeping better lately but still very tired in the day.

ExcitedCJ · 18/09/2014 15:49

Thanks Me I have just demanded to speak to the consultant in charge. It has been a catalogue of disasters today & I have already had to phone the Endocrinologist as they were suggesting a section without IV insulin even though the diabetes guys said I was so acute it was entirely necessary. This was before it was all cancelled! A MW, an anaesthetist & the diabetes specialist nurse were all arguing about what care I needed at the foot of my bed this morning!
Next the doc came round and didn't even know my history or that I was diabetic & said I could be discharged! The consultant that booked me in then overruled things!! Aaahhhhhh!!!

Lily31 · 18/09/2014 15:51

excited how frustrating, I hope you can some answers so that you can relax.

Jen totally with you, v tired and I'm not quite 35 weeks! I think the 26 degree heat might be something to do with it! What is going on? I know I shouldn't complain but I have become a puffing, sweaty Betty.

ohthegoats · 18/09/2014 16:03

No Jen, I'm exhausted too - I can hold it together at work, sort of, then absolutely flake out when I get home. Then obviously can't fall asleep, or stay asleep (due to bladder). Ace. Last day tomorrow though, then I can start using that precious energy I'm wasting at school on doing stuff in the house like washing and making a crib.

I think I'll also re-pack the tiny baby clothes up for my sister in law, I'm pretty sure we're past that window now. Getting all very average.

mrsb87 · 18/09/2014 16:33

So so tired jen. I'm sleeping fairly well at night, apart from 2/3 pee breaks. Sleeping till 9 and I've just had 2hrs kip!

fedupofrainydays · 18/09/2014 16:50

Thanks for the works of support ladies. And slide I really feel for you. Definitely get a side room of you can - makes so much difference having your own space and some quiet. We had a side room til we were moved to SCBU.

You are really exhausted and probably not sleeping. All the hormones and lack of sleep just make us feel useless, helpless and overly emotional. After ds1 (can't believe I'm writing ds1 now!) I cried non stop for at least 2 or 3 days after our difficult birth. You can't help but feel so some reason you have failed them. You are doing your upmost best and you can't ask for any more than that. It's so tough. It really is. Have you got your DH for support?

Also Have you got some lansinoh for hour nipples? It really is great cream. My boobs were killing me - more from people trying to milk me and it's really painful. Rory managed a breast feed earlier so I'm feeling a bit more confident we might do this and get off the tube.

Another progress check at 9pm which will be key as to what next.

cj that's so rubbish. Sept / oct mania is here too. But doesn't really explain why suddenly not a major concern.

I would just like to add - how awesome it was when Rory was passed back through my legs and handed to me and I got to hold him for the first time. Really was incredible Grin

So who is next.... Sounds like yellow!

ldt87 · 18/09/2014 16:54

Hi all, have had a mw appointment today at 37 weeks, and urine showed apparently really high sugar levels. I've never had any problems with my wee before and my mw took blood to test and said it will probably be due to diet over the past few days.

Has anyone had this? It's really playing on my mind x

ldt87 I would have thought mw would have booked you in for a glucose tolerance test rather than a random blood glucose as the gtt will be diagnostic whereas random only tell you what is happening right now. I would call up tomorrow for result because if it is high the. You should definitely have gtt in case it is gd. excited was diagnosed with gd after 1 episode of glucose in urine. It could just be a one off for you though good luck.

Well l am no longer severely anaemic my hb is now 10.5 (which is just borderline) yay I'm pleased those horrid tablets have done something. I'll carry on taking 1 a day then x2 a day alternately as my ferritin level is still too low so need to build up my stores.
