FrauEnglischLehrerin · 27/09/2014 08:07

yellow definitely let the nurses change nappies post-section. And then DH until you can't possibly get away with it any more/he goes back to work Grin.

STIGZ pregnant mess is absolutely fine at this stage. I went to a concert on Wed at the theatre in yoga pants (and people here really dress up for concerts - fur coats are not uncommon)!

cabster I'm racking my brains for something for the baby to give to dd. I was thinking about a Lego set, but everything in the local toy shop is so gendered Sad. I suppose I will have to scour Amazon instead...

BingoBango85 · 27/09/2014 08:13

So I'm not the only one fed up at the minute. My body is saying NO. My back has never felt so weak before I've potentially got another 5/6 weeks to go! That makes me glum. Perhaps I've over done it this week. HmmHmmHmm

PunkyBubba · 27/09/2014 08:30

Wow, don't hate me but best nights sleep in ages once they turned the ward lights out. 8 hrs, and I didn't even need to get up to use the loo (as baby is so high up there is no pressure on bladder though I normally get up once).

Cabster I've bought DS a fireman Sam fire engine from baby. He loves fire engines and fireman Sam so thinking it will go down well.

sazzlehopes · 27/09/2014 08:52

Sorry to those admitted to hospital but glad you are being looked after.

Thanks for all the TT/BF info yellow. Super helpful.

I can't keep up with everyone's news etc so I apologise if I've missed something vital.

My news is... PING!!! bun is officially done. 40 weeks today and the overdue waiting game begins....!!!

mum2kiss · 27/09/2014 09:03

Wow we have a 40 weeker!

YellowWellies · 27/09/2014 09:06

I probably got 4-5 he's in 3 chunks last night. Which is more sleep than the last two nights combined. Which for night 2 in hospital is pretty good. It's painful to position her and latch her on in bed so my wound is a bit sore. L is now at the OMG hysterical "I can smell milk waaah latch me on this instant" stage whereby if it takes longer than 2 seconds to get a nipple in her mouth - she's nigh on inconsolable.

She just gave me an awful scare by turning blue grey mid feed. Think it was just that her nose may have got blocked by the breast tissue but the paed is coming to check her. Horrible to see your wee baby grey like that Sad Shock .

PunkyBubba · 27/09/2014 09:08

Stigz I have been debating going to hospital coffee shop in my (nice clean) pjs.. I will probably change to my stinky maternity jeans (the one decent bit of clothing that still fits me) though. It was fine, but a day in a hot sweaty maternity ward and they really do smell. I know I will have to pass them to DH to wash for me, but then I will be stuck with only PJs to wear! Dilemma.... I really don't want to buy new mat clothes at this stage!

yellow thanks about the BF reminder. I do remember the tears if exhaustion the 2nd night with DS who was constantly feeding, and giving in and letting a midwife take him for an hour so I could get some sleep. It definitely got easier from then on.

wee, the consultant has been around so I asked what happens if baby does turn head down. They said I would still then be kept in 24-48 hrs to make sure they stay engaged. Woman in next bed has transverse baby. She moved head down last night, was head down first thing this morning, and is now transverse again :(

bumpbangbump · 27/09/2014 09:27

Congratulations to all our new arrivals. Hope all our babies are doing well, all our mummies are recovering and all our remaining bumped up mummas are coping. I can't believe we now have a 40 weeker!

I'm 39+2 and still feeling OK. Ds was born at 39+4 so hoping for any time now, although not today as I have a wedding reception this evening! Luckily I have a dress that I bought for another wedding in august so no need to look like a sack of shit like most other days. Really feeling this end of the month feeling this week. Had a lunch to go to yesterday and then this wedding... Thank god for cupboards full of beans and lentils and a freezer that still has some bits in.

Happy weekend ladies!

STIGZ · 27/09/2014 09:39

Im just about to go for a bath & wash my hair ... Will maybe paint my nails but fake tan is out the window me thinks .,. Wiping my own bum is too uncomfortable so applying fake tan to every wee nook & cranny might be a bit much, it does make me feel "healthy" thoughHmm

I have bought dd an elsa & anna necklace saying "big sister" and also an elsa & anna nightdress ... She has been excited that she will be a big sister like elsa is! I have also bought her a beautiful teaset that she has wanted, so she can
" make & serve" me tea whilst im doing feeds and also a jewellery making set to keep her occupied when the tea set wears a bit thinBlush

Kirstipops · 27/09/2014 09:39

Double ping Sazzle, I hit the 40 week mark today Grin

DH took his tool kit up to baby's room an hour ago, his nesting instinct's finally kicked in!
Punky well done on your epic kip! Hopefully that will continue til baby decides to make tracks and you'll be full of energy for it!

Kirstipops · 27/09/2014 09:40

(Even if you are cs bound, yanno what I mean :) )

bumpbangbump · 27/09/2014 09:53

Baby has bought ds a set of scrubs so he can be a doctor as well as a doctors kit! I figured he could then look after me and his sister. There's a back up tool kit in case we need it too.

YellowWellies · 27/09/2014 09:56

Yey for two 40 weekers and 2 sensible babies who wait to be cooked before making departure plans! Smile

fedupofrainydays · 27/09/2014 10:08

I too had the best nights sleep in forever (not had more than about 3 hours in 2 weeks - I've been a zombie) and that was with 3 wakes for feeds. He settler well after do that's good. DH just took ds1 for a hair cut so a moment of peace in a builder free house so made myself a coffee and some cereal.

MundayCakes85 · 27/09/2014 10:42

Morning all, happy weekend! I've just a quick post baby question- what have you got to wear? I don't fancy wearing my 4 mat dresses/ few t-shirts but don't want to splash out either.
TIA.

fedupofrainydays · 27/09/2014 10:55

Two vest tops. One you pull down and the other lift up so hole created for boob and tummy not exposed!
Been wearing with tracksuit bottoms so far as I can't find any jeans in our builder chaos! I think I will fit my 'bigger' pairs or at worst will wear mat jeans ( but still v comfy!)
I also bought a couple of cheap dresses last time from h&m that can pull aside for feeding - will be getting those out.

YellowWellies · 27/09/2014 11:00

Frugi do some lovely BF dresses. I lived in them last time

sazzlehopes · 27/09/2014 11:06

PING PING kirstie!
We can now be in the overdue camp together! My ds was 5 days late so wasn't expecting this one to be early.... I'm still thinking oct baby for me so maybe Wednesday onwards. The longer he leaves it though the more nervous I become about a vbac!

MundayCakes85 · 27/09/2014 11:51

Thanks fedup and yellow I might have a look in h&m if I can be bothered to leave the house this weekend. 40 weeks tomorrow Grin come out baby!!

kittyvet · 27/09/2014 12:15

Friend recommended H and M nursing tops. Got a twin pack and they seem comfy, good thick jersey and most importantly stretchy!!!
Now all I need is a baby.
This might be a stupid question from a FTM but what do Braxton Hicks feel like? Everything I read has said tightening of your bump but not painful. Currently I am getting period pain like cramps around bottom of my bump on / off but my bump doesn't feel any harder when they happen. Had them earlier in week. Not proper contractions as had loads last night and now nothing. What are your experiences of BH?

gunwalloe · 27/09/2014 12:18

Yay for due babies! I keep checking to see if theres any new arrivals during night breast feeding.
Hubby got me some lansinoh cream for my sore nipple wow its fab I highly recommend it its fixed my nipple really quickly, expensive at £9.99 a tube at Boots but ive since found it cheaper on amazon at £6.76.
munday im 3 days post delivery and apart from getting dressed to leave the hospital( so I didn't scare anyone) ive only been in pjs :)

OP posts:
fedupofrainydays · 27/09/2014 12:21

I'm wearing a borrow h&m nursing top right now and ds is feeding. Seems to work well!!

Congrats to those at 40 weeks! PING! Cooked and ready to go!

Re BH mine were both period pain like and also tightenings but mostly period pain. When I was in early labour on the ward they kept pressing my tummy to determine contraction strength. If it was squidgy at the top they thought it was just a tightening and not a proper contraction. Although in my opinion they were 'proper' as bloody painful and was dilated quite quickly. It's so hard to say, I think everyone's pain is different. Sorry prob not very helpful!

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 27/09/2014 12:45

kitty I can feel my baby's bum on the left side of my bump and the other side is marginally softer. When I have bh, both sides feel equally hard. Sometimes if I'm standing I can feel a definite downward pressure/pulling sensation. Walking usually but not always triggers a few for me and, last time round, dh driving over bad road surfaces in our Mini set them off every time.

I've also got some H&M nursing vests - will wear a loose-ish t-shirt over the top and pull that up to feed. I ordered a couple of bf tops from Boob (Dutch co?) yesterday that have a pull-up top section but leave your tummy covered. One has a hood and I'm hoping it will be good for bf out and about in winter.

Kirstipops · 27/09/2014 12:58

My BHs sound similar to Frau's , both sides of my tummy skin seem to be sucked in from the inside, like baby has a wee hoover in there! I can make out the outline of the baby's back/bum much better and my whole bump feels hard. Luckily mine aren't very uncomfortable, just weird! I had a wee break from them a week or two ago but they're back for sure now, mostly in the afternoons and evenings though. These are usually followed by rebellious rolls and jabs from baby!
Out of curiosity, a question for you new and/or established mamas - did the timing of your babies' most active moments "in utero" bear any resemblance to how they are after they're born?

YellowWellies · 27/09/2014 13:07

Kirsti no not yet but she's changing every day. Thursday she just slept pretty much, she started waking yesterday and today she's more lively again. I wouldn't say she's reverse cycling but she definitely innately knows that the fattiest most calorific milk is produced between 11pm and 4am! She's already cluster feeding in the evening and then likes a feed or three Envy in the early hours.
