Missus2ndwife · 26/09/2014 19:04

Lily I need to nap!! I woke up tired this morning and could have gone back to bed by 11am but felt guilty so waited until the afternoon.
I'm now waiting for a suitable time to go back to sleep ... So.darn.tired. Zzzzzzzzz

MundayCakes85 · 26/09/2014 19:08

Pusscous it WAS Haskins Grin I'm not far but never been there for lunch before. It's still pretty warm here ~20 degrees but feels like it's going to rain soon, poor you with the heat again.
I'm another nap lover, didn't get one today as made fruit loaf instead. Cooking stops me boredom eating/ shopping!

Captainmcgraw · 26/09/2014 19:17

Thought I'd update as realise I've gone a bit awol since c-section.

My section experience was really positive overall. It was very quick and calm and not as highly medicalised as I worried. The only thing was my blood pressure dropped a good few times (very common) and when it does you start to feel very sick quickly. So I spent much of the op wretching into a pot which wasn't that glamorous. However they quickly give you meds through a cannula if you feel sick so if you're due for a section make sure you say as soon as you feel queasy as the drugs make a huge and speedy difference. I felt a million times better afterwards than last time with forceps/3rd degree tear and as a result I feel like I'm enjoying these first few days so much in comparison.

Am very much smitten with my little boy. He will only sleep on me at night but we're not afraid to co-sleep this time round so actually managed some kip last night.

Thinking of those having sections/in labour. Glad to hear things are a bit better for you Fedup, you've had a really tough time.

Those who are pregnant just remember this time will soon be a distant memory and will so be worth it. The end of pregnancy truly sucks and everyone is doing so well!

Lulu298 · 26/09/2014 19:47

Glad your CS experience was positive captain Smile

Last day at work today. Feels odd. Glad Strictly's on at 9pm to distract me from thinking about it.

By the way, not sure you want my loose bowel movements!! It's verging on diarrhea... Confused

madamweasel · 26/09/2014 20:09

Thanks for the words of encouragement captain, today has been one of those endurance days where I just wished my way through every hour. I even fell asleep whilst my toddler was playing on me! that's how shattered I've been (apparently my tummy is a big mountain for the trains to cross).

Best wishes to everyone who is battling through those first few days post-birth with new little people to cuddle and battered bodies to nurse. I'm looking forward to meeting the LO but still a little scared of the process of getting there. I guess for now it's just more waiting...Brew

Oh, and I keep fantasising about a massive, cold glass of cider Grin

Shirehobbit · 26/09/2014 20:14

I see your glass of cider and raise you a vat of red wine Wine
It seems wrong to be watching Strictly without a glass, somehow Blush

mrsb87 · 26/09/2014 20:29

Hmm ciiiiiiderrrr. ......

Missus2ndwife · 26/09/2014 20:36

I am officially struggling to eat now. I have NEVER struggled with my food before.

No room between baby and tummy!

mum2kiss · 26/09/2014 20:42

I too am in the knackered clan! I just can't stay awake!

Pgp is trying to finish me off. My support belt is no longer helping!! Today I 2 alkyd 300 metres max but I feel like I walked 5 miles! Ouch!

cabster · 26/09/2014 20:46

Cider drinkers have you seen the 0% mixed fruit Kopparberg? It's nectar! Tesco sells it, don't know about anywhere else.

Sorry things aren't going as planned punkyThanks are you on bed rest or do you just need to be on hand in case your waters go? Send DP to the library with a shopping list, it's the last bit of me time you'll get in a while!

Thanks for your story captain :)

YellowWellies · 26/09/2014 20:55

Argh I think I need my first post baby poo! Am psyching myself up.

On the plus side L has cracked BF since her TT was snapped - so much so it looks like she won't need the lights! And we might get to go home tomorrow. Maybe. Fingers crossed!

Kirstipops · 26/09/2014 21:28

That cider is lovely cabster, I like the pear one too.
Paranoid now that I'm going to mistake slow/dribbly water-breakage for my regular heavyish discharge. I assume it would eventually trickle for so long that it'd be unmistakeable? Sitting on the settee watching tv and felt a weird kind of fizzing sensation down in my froof, checked and I'm all dry though, anyone else had this?
DH is still feeling rubbish, making me nervous in case an early hours hospital trip is required, and trying not to resent him his illness! (It would have to be my due date weekend, come oooon!) Made him brekkie and lunch and feeding him paracetamol, hopefully I'm hiding it well Grin

Sorry for folk suffering just now, we're on the home straight!
Great news about the tongue tie snip working so quickly Yellow, wonder if all NHS Scotland hosps deal with it so quickly?

mrsb87 · 26/09/2014 21:34

Cabster yes! Had a few of those in the hot summer! Bloody lovely stuff you're right.

missus don't worry the hunger comes back when the baby drops into your pelvis more. I was eating like a squirrel for weeks until last week when I feel like I have a bit more of a normal appetite which has been nice Smile

Just had a lovely bath, It seems this is going to be a right little water baby like it's mumma! He/she is going nuts in there again, Just like after I went swimming the other day!

YellowWellies · 26/09/2014 21:40

Kirsti I just really pushed for it. First two MWs said she didn't have one but I knew from the pain when she latched on that she must have had a TT. I had to push for the referral as everyone's so busy.

She is now at the want to be on your boobs ALL evening which is her way of bringing my milk in. Its working though her billirubin levels are right down so she won't need photo therapy.

Shirehobbit · 26/09/2014 21:43

Yes to the "fizzy foof" Kirstipops - I've definitely felt that before.
And as for waters/discharge difference, I guess it's different for everyone, but it really was the temperature that gave it away for me - I suppose waters are coming from a really internal source so are warmer iyswim, but they felt really warm.

STIGZ · 26/09/2014 22:04

Shit i have not long woken up, fell asleep at half 6 ... Its going to be a long nightConfused. I really should paint my nails or go for a bath & wash my hair and maybe apply some fake take tan to my bluish pale skin Hmm going out for a meal tomorrow with friends & family and would like to try and look decent but i just cant be arsed. Will maybe do all the above tomorrow morning or convince myself that looking like a pregnant mess is actually acceptable ?

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 22:31

I've got one dress that doesn't make me look a pregnant mess. And thank god for it - wore it every day in the last week of work! It is a bit Barney the pregnant dinosaur in its purpleness though.

End of my first week of mat leave and feel much further away from giving birth than I did this time last week. Weird.

Kirstipops · 26/09/2014 22:36

Thanks hobbit, seems to have stopped now! Now I think about it I think I had a similar feeling months ago but prob my current paranoia of "dribbling" has put me on edge!!
Yellow it's lucky you were so on the ball, I'm just imagining a first time mum being ignorant to it and eventually giving up bf'ing due to needless pain and busy mws not being able to spot it?
Ah Stigz sod the fake tan, we have an excuse, it's Autumn Grin Can't believe how mild it has been though, to think I thought I would have to try and fit my big hammy feet and ankles into wintery boots coming outta hospital with baby Shock

Shirehobbit · 26/09/2014 22:41

Goats - I feel the same; I think the relief at stopping work has had an effect.

weeonion · 26/09/2014 23:30

punky! how youdoing? it sounds like we are in similar situtation. my dc is transcerse and they want to admit me from 37 weeks til section at 39 weeks. i was planning a hypnobirthing home birth. you sound alot more accetingof it than myself. i am totally gutted and v upset. feel v disconnected to this baby - have done through whoe of pg but even more so now.... i will be watching with interest to hear how yo get on. have they told you what will happen if your bubba moves while you are in there? will you get home?

PunkyBubba · 27/09/2014 00:12

Thanks Cabster

and hi Wee, we definitely sound similar in our situations! Is this your first DC?

I am sad about the situation. I was really looking forward to another waterbirth in the same unit I had DS, and I was so happy after DS's birth that hypnobirthing had 'worked' for me. I would have been devastated if his birth hadn't gone 'according to plan'. But then last year I had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured, emergency surgery, etc and I guess that changed me as I don't have that fear of surgery I used to have, and I know that there really is nothing I can do to change things.

They haven't really said what the case would be if baby does get into position, though from everything I've read I think they can either send you home, or if they think baby could just as easily move transverse again they induce you quickly while baby is in position. Thing is this baby doesn't seem to be able to go head down. The 2 days this week I spent ages on the birthing ball I woke up on the nights to go to the loo and both times baby had moved even further in the wrong direction. By both mornings he had moved back to usual position. Fingers crossed your little one moves Wee!

Right they have finally turned lights off, I'm going to try to get some sleep!

YellowWellies · 27/09/2014 01:54

Yawn....

Here's me and Lilla's guide to BF so far:

Day 1 - 2 Lilla is totally knocked out by birth and has to be tickled, stripped, wiped with cold wet cotton wool to wake her up sufficiently to feed. She latches badly, regularly falls asleep on the job and has no real interest in the breast. Stupid Mummy doesn't remember to sleep when she does. Only by syringing in EBM and FF does she get enough to beat her jaundice and blood sugar issues.

Night 2 Lilla wakes up! After her TT is cut Lilla can feed much easier and wants to be latched on all of the time to bring my milk in. I'm looking at snatches of 40 minutes sleep as I can't safely cosleep in a hospital bed post section. Yawn! But my boobs are heavy and hopefully tomorrow she'll be sufficiently gluttonous to stuff herself and go to sleep with a big, fat belly and sleep will return in 1-2 hour chunks.

I found this blog great for helping me remember it gets easier and changes so quickly; naturalbirthplan.com/breastfeeding-what-to-expect-in-the-first-24-hours/

fedupofrainydays · 27/09/2014 04:21

Ugh night sweats. Keep drenching the bed. Nice

YellowWellies · 27/09/2014 05:30

Fed up me too. They're minging!

YellowWellies · 27/09/2014 07:06

Post morning BF snuggles - bliss. L is a squeaky snoozing frog panned out on my chest. Having heard an ominous splat in her pants would it be wrong to wait until the nurse visits in 5 minutes and let her deal with it as part of morning checks? Blush
