Sexonlegs so glad to hear that all is well

CaptainDippy · 09/10/2006 15:04

Glad it all went well SOL!! Good news!! Can't wait for my scan on Fri .....

Right. DH has taken the DD's out. I have a cup of tea and a cake and I'll soon have a nice hot bath waiting for me. Ooooh, and I've got a good book too - Anything else I need!!!!?

(Apart from a big sexy black man to come and massage my shoulders, of course!! )

littlefrog · 09/10/2006 15:27

Thank you for the welcomes everyone - this thread is scarily active! don't think I'll be able to keep up with everyone!
Not sure that our not telling people is self-contained, exactly, it's just that I conceived again really soon after the last miscarriage, and I have a feeling that many of those who knew about that will think that this new pregnancy 'solves' the grief of the summer. But I need to get over these feelings, I think, and you're all part of my first step towards doing so!
Have to say I'm super-envious of those of you with such luxuries as SOFAS and OVENS: we have far too many builders in our lives and haven't had either of those delights for months now... Am just hoping for heating sometime before Christmas...

nuttygirl · 09/10/2006 16:14

Hi everyone, hope I can join you....I'm due on 5th April.

Liath - OMG if my MIL wanted to stay for 2 weeks I'd leave home!!!! You have my sympathy!!!!

MIAM - I saw BNL last night....it was really good and quite informative (at least it was for me as a first timer with no idea of what to expect!) but the miracle baby stories made me want to cry...i would have done if my DH hadn't been watching too....he fusses too much over me so i thought it best to hold the tears in.

Hope everyone's ok and the sickness is easing.

xoxox

Greengirlforever · 09/10/2006 16:18

MIAM - psml at your "couldn't hold my own wee..." Also really wanted to see Birth night but missed it as DH said he couldn't stand to see that sort of thing on telly !

Captain Dippy - !!!

Littlefrog - wot no sofa???!!! What are you in the middle of?

To all those who are crying a lot. I'm so glad you've been mentioning it - I cry at everything and was getting quite worried at myself - forgot it's a pgcy symptom!!

doghouse · 09/10/2006 16:18

Hello everyone, welcome Little Frog and good luck to all those with scans this week. I have just about stopped looking at our pictures from last week's scan every 5 mins!
WeeOnion - I hope you feel better soon. Seems like you are not alone and although I haven't been down whilst pg, I have had bouts in the past and I know how miserable it can be. I think the key is to talk and just coming on here for a 'virtual' coffee morning hopefully can help somewhat!

14+6

Greengirlforever · 09/10/2006 16:18

Hello Nuttygirl - welcome!

Katy44 · 09/10/2006 18:50

Hello everyone,

SOL, am so relieved fantastic news!!

As far as suggestible goes - I was stopped in the aisle in sainsbury's today by some Jamaican ginger cake. Not even sure if I fancy it now, but I bought 2!
CornflakeKid, I thought I was the only one who is sick in sinks! I thought I was mad, you have to clean it afterwards, but the thought of looking down the toilet when you're unwell well....
Sorry if this has made anyone worse, am just so relieved I'm normal!!

IsabellaMoi · 09/10/2006 19:03

Welcome Nuttygirl and Littlefrog!

I had my scan this afternoon - amazing! Our Bean was jumping around quite a bit and stretching his/her legs. We got several good pictures - including one of a perfect little hand. My due date is now April 11th rather than 14th, apparently.

SOL - glad yours went so well, too. Nice to have a physiological explanation for the earlier bleeding.

Hope the sun comes out for all those feeling blue and that those around you know how to be supportive. Take care of yourselves.

Bev123 · 09/10/2006 19:09

Hello all, hope you don't mind me joining in? And apologies as my first one is a bit of a long one... I'm 13 + 2 with my second child (having lost one in-between) and had a nuchal scan last week. It was lovely to see the baby after the miscarriage of course, everything looked fine and the nuchal measurement was 1.3mm which suggests that the risk, when combined with my age, drops to a 1 in 222 chance of DS. We were happy with this, our impression being that they're happy with anything over 250 so we felt 222 was close enough for a 42 year old! Felt under a bit of pressure to have more tests at the time at the private hospital but preferred to leave it there as couldn't really see the point when 42 year old blood test results were likely to be really odd and, as she put it, they could 'make the result better, worse or about the same'. Anyway the point: today all hell seems to have broken loose - 2 calls from the local hospital where they'd already booked me in for a consultation and further tests this Friday (which I've cancelled), and then at 5 this evening my health centre phones because my doctor wants me to see the midwife tomorrow rather than at 16 weeks as originally planned. As I said, we were very happy up until this point! Yet all the people involved that I've spoken to, including the person who did the scan last week, agree that the nuchal looks thin and blood results for an older woman can be really strange. So why all this? Does anyone know any more about this subject - am I missing something? - and has anyone else felt pressure to have further tests when they really don't want them? It's odd, in a way I'm impressed that the NHS has kicked in so efficiently yet I feel a bit under seige! Thanks for listening - I promise I'm not usually this long winded.

CaptainDippy · 09/10/2006 19:32

Glad your scan went well IM!!

Hello and Welcome Bev!! Good to have you with us - we've got a couple of "oldies" (wink) on this thread so you're in good company - GreenGirlForever has just been through tests etc, I think she s 42/43 so you can speak to her. Whoops!!

Bev123 · 09/10/2006 19:46

Hi! Sorry my first posting was a bit gloomy... pregnancy does seem to reduce my ability to cope rationally in situations like this! Our little boy is almost 3, he's adorable and perfect of course - and I thought I was old when I had him!! Thanks for your kind words about the one we lost... it was such a relief to see our little bean doing somersaults last week, so we're trying very hard not to let the reaction of the hospital etc get to us, after all I guess they're just doing their jobs. This seems like such a lovely group, I feel better already

zazas · 09/10/2006 21:00

Phew nearly caught up with all the postings over the last few days! Big welcome and congratulations to the new ones, littlefrog / nuttygirl & bev1

It drives me mad reading about food - now I am obsessed about smoked salmon as the ultimate answer to my ms! But nothing ever tastes as good as I imagine - I am also constantly thinking about a 4 & 20 meat Pie (Kiwi thing) which I hated as a child but have it in my mind as the one thing that would make me feel better if I could get hold of one!

Glad you are OK Sexonlegs and i hope you are coping weeonion...

I had a nuchal scan / blood test today. So far things looked pretty good so we were happy but won't get the blood test results until tomorrow.... Am 5 days ahead of what my lmp say I am and I am 100% certain of my dates - DP and I are amused as we are not sure now how it happened!!!!

Finally please tell me that others are reaching for the preggy clothes already (14 weeks) - it is my 3rd baby so that is my excuse!

CaptainDippy · 09/10/2006 21:07

My third too zazas and I AM Blobzilla!!!! Definitely be reaching for the maternity colthes v.soon - already putting elastic bands in my trouser button holes!!

Hope your test results are ok - so let us know!

LOL @ "conflicting dates" - they don't know nuffin' these medical professionals - trust your instincts!

Going to bed ....... knackered .......

liath · 09/10/2006 21:11

Not far off maternity wear here, zazas. Still fit my "fat" trousers but only just....

So glad today's scans went well and welcome newcomers!

Well even DH was taken aback by the prospect of having MIL for a fortnight (he kept apoplogising, bless him). I told him that unless he wants to come home from work one evening and find that I've killed her & hidden the dismembered body in the loft I'd strongly advise that he takes some annual leave over the "festive" (ha ha) period. I suppose in fairness she's not too bad on the nightmare MIL scale but she is the most tedious person ever & I think even the most welcome guest would grate a bit after 2 weeks. . OK, I promise not to spend the next 2 months whinging about this...
