Taking the Plunge: Pregnancy thread

As requested / promised, here is a brand new and sparkly thread for any graduates of the 'taking the plunge' thread over on the conception board who has now got their BFP, or anyone who has finally got their BFP after many years on the pill.

The (virtual) champagne is on ice and ready to celebrate each and every new arrival. Here's hoping for a sudden rush, after a very slow start!

My stats:
Age 30, DC#1, EDD 4th May, currently 5 weeks pregnant

Now where are you Catnip?!

Ooh I am 16 weeks today and baby is apparently the size of a sweet potato. My 20wk scan is booked for the 10th dec. Have you had your 16wk appt Catnip?

OP posts:
Justyouwaitandsee · 25/11/2014 09:10

Oops that should be 18 weeks today! Smile

I have indeed. To be honest it was short and sweet as the midwife was running half an hour late! Listened to the baby's heartbeat, did my blood pressure etc and then it was off home. I'm both excited and nervous for the anomaly scan, I just hope everything is ok really. Are you going to find out the sex justyouwait?

catnip85 · 10/12/2014 18:44

Hi ladies, how are you all doing? Justyouwait have you had your 20wk scan yet? Hope it went well

Justyouwaitandsee · 10/12/2014 19:54

Hello! Yes! We had the scan this morning Smile Here is the picture! Not much to report - all very quick and straightforward. Everything present and correct and where it should be. Although I brought up all the water which I'd forced myself to drink in the car park Sad

Didn't find out the sex but have a feeling it might be a girl. What do you ladies think?!

How is everyone else getting on? Catnip - has your bump grown much? Still managing to keep it hidden at work?! x

That looks like a girl to me justyouwait! Can't believe you are 20 weeks already! And that is a proper baby you've got in there!

I haven't even had my first mw appt yet - not til next week when I will be 8+6 - such a long wait after I poas a week before af was due... Hmm

Justyouwaitandsee · 10/12/2014 22:22

Thanks WantTo - the weeks will start to fly by, honest! I can't believe I've got to this stage so quickly. I have a proper bump too! How are you feeling? Hope you are avoiding any sickness. Has tiredness kicked in at all?

And how about you Lovebugs? How have you been doing?!

OP posts:
catnip85 · 11/12/2014 18:18

Aw I'm so glad it went well justyouwait! It does look like a girl although I'm no expert. My bump looks a similar size to yours and I had to tell work yesterday as a few people had guessed (although they were v discreet) and the management team took it better than I expected. Ive got my scan a wk tomorrow, v excited. The baby has started kicking me a lot now, feels weird being poked at from the inside!

Wantto, it feels like it takes ages doesn't it for the first app? then before you know it there's loads booked in your diary. Are you looking fwd to it?

WantToGoingTo · 12/12/2014 08:56

That is a proper baby bump justyouwait!

How many weeks are you catnip? Yes I am looking forward to it in some ways but I am also a bit scared cos I hope everything is ok! I am also having a scan that day too. Eek.

Lovebugs2014 · 13/12/2014 10:12

Hey all, sorry not been on here for ages! Been having quite bad morning sickness through the day so been struggling to manage getting to work, had to take a few days off when just felt sick and tired...since week 6 it's got progressively worse and I've tried every tip going to help manage it. I'm sick twice each morning before leaving the house and feel sick throught the day, not been eating much so lost a bit of weight as smells and thought of most food is just off putting!!! Trying to stay positive and know its a good sign etc but wasn't prepared for how debilitating feeling like this can be. I'm 11wks now so looking forward to getting into the next trimester...first midwife appointment next week and scan the new year week so focusing on that ??

Justyouwaitandsee · 13/12/2014 11:32

Hi Lovebugs, you sound just like me! If it makes you feel better, I feel sooooo good now. Sickness has gone, appetite has returned, baby is kicking and growing well. I have none of the symptoms which they other ladies on the may bus thread are talking about so hope that this will pass for you too! Take care and don't feel guilty about tiredness, sickness, eating whatever you can stomach and completely giving up on housework. Just do whatever it takes to get through the day FlowersFlowersFlowers

How exciting catnip! Scan was great, measured 9+0 so exactly right, cervix closed, yolk sac smooth and placenta developing well. Was told v v unlikely to have a mc :) baby was v wriggly! Starting to feel quite nauseous now though hoping it won't ruin Xmas dinner!

catnip85 · 19/12/2014 20:16

I'm really glad it went well for you! Sounds like its been a good day all round :)

Justyouwaitandsee · 19/12/2014 20:52

Aww congrats to both of you! Great news Grin I finished work today - roll on Christmas!! xxx

Just a quick update as I'm shattered but we had the scan on Friday and all is well...baby was waving it's hands at us and has a strong heartbeat. I'm 14 weeks today and only just stated to feel better-less sick the last few days and able to eat more now without feeling so sick which is such a relief. All going well otherwise, I'm low risk so hoping for a water birth in the birthing centre but we'll see what Mother Nature has planned in just over 5 months time!

Justyouwaitandsee · 06/01/2015 22:41

Hi Lovebugs - that's great news. Such a relief when you start to shake off the symptoms of the first trimester!

I have found the second trimester to be much, much nicer. Now 24 weeks and baby is kicking all the time. Bump is growing bigger by the day.

So pleased everything is on track and the scan went well. It's so exciting isn't it?! Smile

Wow I haven't checked back here in a while, look at all these scans!

I'm almost 25 weeks now, don't know where the time is going.

Everything is good here, having a baby girl and all the scans have been fine so hopefully smooth sailing. Now just counting the kicks and hoping everything goes ok until the birth.

How exciting!

Katewright699 · 09/01/2015 13:58

Hi girls mind if I join in too :) im 35 married and have just conceived dc3.. Had a BFP on Xmas eve which was a lovely surprise :)

teachermummy2b · 10/01/2015 10:22

Hi ladies, good to see some new members! Scans are looking great Smile Congratulations on your little princess catnip!

Im 20 weeks now, got scan next Friday! Already know we are having a boy and have picked a name so it's all starting to feel real!

catnip85 · 13/01/2015 08:28

Happy new year ladies! I havent been getting notifications from this thread for some reason. Anyway, glad yr all doing well and welcome Kate and lovebugs!

I'm 24 wks on Friday and have one seriously wriggly daughter. My poor tummy is starting to feel very stretched now. Has anyone else's belly button popped?

Justyouwaitandsee · 14/01/2015 17:08

Hi ladies. Glad all is going well! What lovely timing for a BFP Kate Smile

catnip - wow, it certainly seems your little one has had a growth spurt! You might have overtaken me on bump size. Mine seems to have slowed since Christmas. Did think my bellybutton might pop but hasn't so far.

I am just back from a consultant appointment. He was lovely and really reassuring. Pointed out that my placenta is quite low lying, so squeezed in a sneaky extra scan to check it out. It did seem to have shifted but he wants me to go back for another scan at 32-34 weeks - so a nice extra chance to see baby again. Very difficult to keep resisting finding out the sex though!

Whereabouts is everyone based? Wonde how far we all are apart...

Katewright699 · 14/01/2015 19:52

I went for a blood test today and fainted !!!! Confused luckily my hubby came with me lol.... I'm based in hertfordshire out in the sticks x

Justyouwaitandsee · 14/01/2015 21:06

Haha! Small world! Both catnip and I are also in Herts. In fact, we are both in Hemel. How about you? What hospital will you be going to? We will both be at Watford General.
