I can't be the only one due in May 2015... So here goes, a shiny new thread.

I have to sneak in here to discuss all things pregnancy/baby related because this is a surprise DC5! Shhhh! Don't tell anyone!

Congratulations on your positive tests and wedding! Thanks What a great month it has been for you!

I got my CB Digi Pregnant 1-2 at 15dpo so maybe will be the same for you. They only test for 100mil so probably explains why you didn't get a positive 5 days early.

Welcome to the May thread!

Ididntseeitsoitdidnthappen · 27/08/2014 09:57

Hi all doing a tentative join as I've got a history of chemical pregnancies and miscarriages but I tested today with a FRER and got a positive so that makes me due in May I guess!

Let's hope it's a sticky one

Congratulations to everyone!

NoRoomForALittleOne · 27/08/2014 12:16

I don't understand the Clearblue Digi because it has such a high level of HCG needed for it to show 'pregnant' but then says it can detect a pregnancy conceived 1-2 weeks ago Hmm I used one as a trial on here with DD2 the day after AF was due and it came up negative. It was only because I thought I'd have one last test a week later then go and see the GP because I felt so terribly ill and something must be wrong with me that I came up with an extremely dark positive on a Sainsburys cheapie!

Welcome and congratulations Ididn't! Lovely to have you join! Thanks

ClearBlue aren't my favourite people NoRoom When it comes to their products Grin but when I couldn't get a positive on a CB but could on a FRER back in Feb, I panicked and contacted ClearBlue.

They consider conception to be at the point of implantation not when sperm meets egg at ovulation, so will pick up HCG about 3+ days after implantation. As we all implant on different days (usually 6 - 12 dpo) the 1-2 weeks can be different for each of us. I implanted at 6dpo according to my bbt temp chart so explains why I got a BFP on them only one day after missed period at 15dpo. I might not have if i implanted at 12dpo)
Maybe you implanted DD2 a bit later, hence the delay?

They told me the reason why some more sensitive tests can pick up bfps earlier, is that some women start producing HCG before implantation (hence why we find out about some chemical pregnancies occurring when they don't stick Sad)

Ididntseeitsoitdidnthappen · 27/08/2014 12:53

Thanks for the welcome!

I don't use clearblue until I'm certain I'm pregnant and even then prefer boots branded digital tests! Cheaper and more reliable

SuperDuperJezebel · 27/08/2014 16:42

I used the clear blue, clearly I'm a bit of a rookie! I've been feeling a bit out of sorts the last few days and mildly panicky about the whole thing, but starting to feel better. Tried to explain to DP but he just doesn't his reassuring "don't worry it'll all be fine". It doesn't feel real yet tho. I am utterly exhausted constantly, despite getting more sleep than usual. I hope I get over that quickly.

GinIsCalling · 27/08/2014 17:13

Hello all! I am joining officially this time as just took my second digital test and got a 'pregnant'! Congratulations to everyone else, I'm very excited - trying not to pin my hopes on this too much, but at the same time thinking about how nice it will be to have a May baby!!
I am taking my older son to Disneyland today (we live in california and have our family visiting from England) so I'm debating whether to go on the rollercoasters or not. I know they advise against but it seems to early to really matter - hard to know really!

Sarahg1 · 27/08/2014 18:02

Hi all, excited (and incredibly nervous) to say I'm joining you too!

Got my bfp last Thursday and according to Dr I'm due on 6th May. Just a little worried because I have had a bad stomach bug for the past few days with dodgy tum and bad cramping so have turned into the ultimate hypochondriac. However the Dr says the cramps are bowel not baby related so fingers crossed.

Booking in appointment on 9th September.

DH sister had a miscarriage last month so we are thinking of having a private scan before the 12 week one to stop my neurosis, is anyone else in London considering this/have any recommendations?

Good luck to you all, can't wait to hear how you're all getting on x

KittyVonCatsington · 27/08/2014 18:43

Yay Sarah! Another August TTC bus graduate! Thanks congratulations!

So sorry to hear of your sister though, it really is a scary time. I hope she is okay?

I am planning on an 8 week scan privately at The Blackheath Hospital in South East London (where I live) £100. It's also so DH can get to come. Also being a teacher, it is unlikely he will be given the time off for my appointments (praying my 12 week scan cheekily coincides with Half Term) Wink

Ididn't Have you worked out your EDD with a due date calculator? Grin

Geez, I've had a sore tummy today Sad

Ididntseeitsoitdidnthappen · 27/08/2014 18:52

Not yet no. Im not going to until I can get past the first 10 days without bleeding (yes I know it's strange!) due to my previous history. I'm keeping it vague for self preservation purposes for now Grin

KittyVonCatsington · 27/08/2014 19:12

Totally understandable! I hope the next 10 days fly by. Join me with some Brew and Cake and The Great British Bake Off to take your mind off it

Ididntseeitsoitdidnthappen · 27/08/2014 19:21

Thanks Cake is good! Bake off is good, bring it on!

Justyouwaitandsee · 27/08/2014 19:35

Ooh loving the Cake and Brew idea (although is everyone else cutting back on caffeine?!)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Ididn't

KittyVonCatsington · 27/08/2014 19:52

Cutting back on caffeine over here! Drink far too any cups at school anyway Grin

GinIsCalling · 27/08/2014 20:06

Apart from cutting back on caffeine and cutting back on alcohol are you guys doing anything differently?

Ididntseeitsoitdidnthappen · 27/08/2014 20:08

I'm not a caffeine drinker so no hardship for me there

I won't be doing anything differently tbh as foodstuffs these days are pretty safe

KittyVonCatsington · 27/08/2014 20:24

Hot baths! Going to steer clear for a bit Smile

NoRoomForALittleOne · 27/08/2014 20:31

There's a fair amount of unpasteurised cheese locally here and loads of local eggs that aren't lion stamped. I'll be avoiding them I think (although sooooooo tempted). I've had more than my fair share of pregnancy issues in the past though so I like to do things by the book. I am bemused by the fact that the guidance has changed a bit with each child (and considering this is DC5 and DC1 is only 7, that goes to show how the NHS can't make up it's mind).

Seasiderunner · 27/08/2014 20:51

I have my first appointment with the GP on 8th Sept. I wasn't sure if it was too soon, bit if others are going then that's good! The receptionist thought maybe I didn't need an appointment until 12 weeks but that didn't seem right.
Yes few caffeinated drinks and no Brie for me Smile

KittyVonCatsington · 27/08/2014 21:36

When my GP warned me off pre-packed salad bags today, I knew I'd have to take a lot of things with a pinch of salt Grin

Seaside, your receptionist wasn't quite right as 12 weeks is too late but it does seem every area has it's own procedures. I seem to have something called Shared Care so things are split between GPs, Midwives and Hospital. In some areas, it's more Midwife led I think.

Wasn't expecting to be asked for a urine sample for a pregnancy test as loads of others have said they didn't have to, so it will be nice hearing all of your experiences-especially you Gin in the US!

fififolle · 27/08/2014 22:05

I made my appointment this morning. The receptionist said that they wanted to book people in ASAP in order to get the scans booked at the correct intervals.

plinkyplonks · 27/08/2014 22:37

Thanks for the support Kitty - also, didn't realise private scans are available. I'm thinking of doing this as I don't think I can wait until October to know the baby is OK. My first midwife appointment isn't for another 4 weeks yet.

Ididntseeitsoitdidnthappen · 28/08/2014 08:14

I did another test this morning and have no line on it Sad I'm hoping it's a dodgy test and no more than that

Sarahg1 · 28/08/2014 08:25

waving at kitty hello! Great recommendation on Blackheath, thank you - I am just down the road in Bromley so I will check it out.

How is everyone else doing?

ididntseeit how many dpo are you? Was the test you used today the same you used last time? I've been poas daily since my proper positive last Thursday night and tbh the ics haven't got much darker so maybe it's just that it's so early for you that the teat isn't sensitive enough to pick it up yet. I'm only really about 18 dpo.
fingers crossed for you, this whole pregnancy malarkey is so stressful already Thanks Thanks

NoRoomForALittleOne · 28/08/2014 08:44

We're you using another FRER, Ididntseeit?
