I can't be the only one due in May 2015... So here goes, a shiny new thread.

I have to sneak in here to discuss all things pregnancy/baby related because this is a surprise DC5! Shhhh! Don't tell anyone!

Thanks MsMittens - I have the day off tomorrow - to myself (so rare!) - and I'm having a mani, pedi and cut and colour, woohoooo .

Thanks, I'm diabetic so will see the midwives and diabetic team at the hospital next week, it's just a matter of managing the BG levels and not letting the possible 'bad things' that can happen bother you, lol

HariboBrenshnio · 18/09/2014 13:49

BB01 - my DS will be 19/20 months when baby is born and I've no idea how it's going to work. He's been sick with gastro for a week now, what do you do when 1 baby is ill and needs you but your feeding a newborn?!
Loads of women do it though so it must be manageable. A fair few people have said to me in the past that the first year is really tough going but then it's all worth is. Fingers crossed that's true for us!!

NoRoomForALittleOne · 18/09/2014 13:56

We currently have DD1 (7), DD2 (5), DS (3) and DD3 (14 months) so to answer the questions about how you cope with 2 DC, basically you just get on with it. Sometimes you lower your standards. Sorry but sometimes you do have to then make up for it later. If you have any sense then you accept all genuine offers of help. And you learn to love a slow cooker!

Essentially you will work out your own new routines and what works for you.

Oh and for those of you worrying about having a 2 year old plus baby - that is soooooooo much easier than having a school run to do as well.

Mitchey · 18/09/2014 14:03

Really NoRoomForALittleOne ?! You haven't met my 17 month old baby Shock

I don't do 'lowering standards' lol. I was doing an hour of yoga or weight training a day within 3 weeks of giving birth last time and I'm intending to do the same this time, where there's a will there's a way . . . !

NoRoomForALittleOne · 18/09/2014 14:18

I was more thinking about Haribo with her sick toddler. Sometimes when you have a child who is sick for a whole you are so exhausted between that plus a baby that you have to compromise on something. The more money you have the easier it is though. For example, if you can afford a cleaner then you won't need to worry about that.

HariboBrenshnio · 18/09/2014 14:22

NoRoom - thanks :) I'm prepared to lower standards to survive! I would love a cleaner but it's not our in budget. I dream..

MsMittens · 18/09/2014 14:23

NoRoomForALittleOne I think you are so right that everyone just settles into a new routine and copes in their own way. We will all be fine, I remember thinking the same thing with DC1 - how do people cope with a new baby? Every family is different in the way they do things but it all seems to work out. Sounds like you have a super busy household (which must also be great fun).

Mitchey · 18/09/2014 14:53

Cleaner is a must!!! Shock

I currently have a nanny but that won't be necessary as I'll be a SAHM in two weeks time Shock

BB01 · 18/09/2014 14:57

Yes I've read that too, that the first year with a toddler and newborn is very tough but then it is lovely (fingers crossed!)

Thisisrock · 18/09/2014 15:02

I already love my slow cooker noroom bit worried about doing school runs with a newborn Grin might be turning up to school in my pjs !!!!

Turquoisetamborine · 18/09/2014 16:19

My son is 6 so I'm kind of glad it will have a big gap as there won't be the stress of having a little one to sort as well as a baby. He gets himself up now, showers and dresses then pours himself some cereal so this will all come in handy when the school run happens!

I'm picturing him bottle feeding the baby in the back of the car on the way to school too when they get a bit older although I'll probably breastfeed most of the time again. Anything that gets you through it I think.

HariboBrenshnio · 18/09/2014 16:27

A friend said to me recently that there's never a good time to have a second and i think she's right. Each age gap comes with it's pro's and con's. With a small one it's hard having two little one's but less chance of jealousy and your still in the nappy/night feeds zone. With older ones they are more independent but might be jealous and act out and your going back to square one.

Either way, we'll all manage because we wants these babies in our lives and any challenges will be worth it :)

BB01 · 18/09/2014 18:34

So true, Haribo!

Drewanna · 18/09/2014 19:36

I'm still so excited to have a BFP I've not stopped to worry about the practicalities. (Sp?) Other people cope so we should all be fine and if not I'll ask you lot! I'm so grateful we're not all first timers.

LinaDee · 18/09/2014 20:03

Anyone else experiencing a strange, stretchy, achy feeling in their upper abdomen?

Like too many sit ups meets trapped wind?!

Threesoundslikealot · 18/09/2014 20:23

I've had a sore stomach today. But along with vicious all-day nausea. We've had a vomiting bug around recently and I'm actually hoping that the sickness and stomach ache mean I've got that, as I feel more ill than in either of my other pregnancies.

fififolle · 18/09/2014 20:32

No Lina just lots of trapped wind Blush

2preteendramaqueens · 18/09/2014 20:36

Owwie just had a sharp pinching like pain in my vagina....only lasted a few seconds but made me flinch...DH looked at me like a I was a freak...
Is this a normal early pregnancy pain or should I be worried?

Fluffeh · 19/09/2014 07:49

Oh looks like we're going to need a new thread already!
Hope everyone feeling sick has a better day today.

ElleyBear13 · 19/09/2014 08:04

Hello, i am hopping off the may bus. Heavy bleeding, awful painful cramps started on tuesday sp i phoned my doctor who said theres nothing they can do till 12 weeks but its normal to get cramps. I knew something was up so went to a&e spent the next three days being passed from doctor to doctor, finally seen a gynaecologist on wed evening who booked my for a scan on thursday afty. The scan showed no sac or baby (6w 3 d) but hcg levels at 840 (?). They told me to make a appointment with my gp for more blood tests but the outcome is more than likely to be misscarrriage. I dont really know what to do next or how im going to go to work on monday (currently on holiday) as im still in alot of pain and i feel like my hearts been trampled on. Thank you for all your support wishing you all safe and healthy pregnancies xxx.

piglet81 · 19/09/2014 08:33

Oh no Elley, I am so sorry to read this. You poor thing. Do you have someone looking after you? Sending you all the best Flowers
