I can't be the only one due in May 2015... So here goes, a shiny new thread.

I have to sneak in here to discuss all things pregnancy/baby related because this is a surprise DC5! Shhhh! Don't tell anyone!

It is strangely reassuring Kitty I'm forever prodding mine to make sure they're still sore!
New under wear, first time on is causing major overspills!

acemay · 26/08/2014 06:31

I'm loving all these tips on getting away with not drinking ladies, thank you!

KittyVonCatsington · 26/08/2014 07:22

Oh my goodness, for three days running, I keep waking up in the early hours of the morning (4am-ish) needing a wee (don't do this normally) but then not being able to go back to sleep after. Not sure why I am needing a wee much more often now, as is far too early surely?

Off to Google reasons why Grin

kitty I am exactly the same!!! get up to go to the toilet and I am wide awake from that point although I feel tired!! x

KittyVonCatsington · 26/08/2014 08:18

bradders Dr Google says it is because we are producing lots of HCG which affects our blood flow. This causes the kidneys to work more efficiently to get rid of more 'waste'. Fascinating stuff-our bodies are so clever Grin

SuperDuperJezebel · 26/08/2014 08:38

I have to be honest, I've had no symptoms other than a late period. I'm hoping this is a good sign! Although writing this, I am just thinking how badly I need a wee!

bradders85 · 26/08/2014 08:48

ooh thanks for that Kitty, very infomative :-) I have phoned the doctors this morning to see what their procedure is - I need to go in and collect some forms and that self refer's me to the midwife!

KittyVonCatsington · 26/08/2014 08:59

I think every woman and indeed every pregnancy is different Super sorry for invoking the need for a wee!!

Interesting bradders Smile As I am still on school hols and know how difficult it is to get time off during term time, thought I would book super early with my GP. The surgery website says this is just to refer to midwife team but nice to get it out of the way during my time off! Appointment is tomorrow. Eek!

Arendsmummy · 26/08/2014 09:04

I'm the same Superduper no systems apart from a missed period and bloated stomach I'm increasingly concerned as i had really sore boobs with my first im waking up every morning hoping my boobs hurt and nothing haha
I'm sure some ladies just don't get any symptoms at the beginning but after being pregnancy once already i keep comparing and worrying myself!

Arendsmummy · 26/08/2014 09:08

Symptoms*

Seasiderunner · 26/08/2014 09:30

No symptoms for me yet, but my stomach is cramping. Hoping it's ok. I had another positive test this morning (as partner wanted to be sure the other test wasn't faulty!) first time unknowns Confused

bradders85 · 26/08/2014 09:42

Just back from the doctors - just a simple form to fill in. That goes in her tray and she will send me out an appointment. Kitty - being a teacher also I know it's difficult to get out but my school are pretty good if you say its medical on the form and they can't ask - I just hope I miss one of the classes that I don't like!

plinkyplonks · 26/08/2014 12:20

Glad I am not the only one having symptoms - feeling sick, struggling to eat, mega cramps and I have been feeling faint last few days. I'm more than a bit worried things are going to go wrong :(

I spoke to the Doctor's surgery today and they said I didn't need a doctor's appointment, but instead have referred me straight to the midwife. My appointments booked in for third week of September. It's going to be a long wait until then!

KittyVonCatsington · 26/08/2014 13:17

Please try not to worry plinky - those symptoms are normal symptoms for a lot of women. I do seem to have developed a phobia about going to the toilet in case I see red, so I do understand how scary this is. But you are pregnant right now!

We will get through this together Grin

Thefourcees · 26/08/2014 13:52

Afternoon all, well I bit the bullet and decided to phone the midwives, got my booking in on the 10th Sept, and she noticed on the system I'd had a miscarriage so offered me a reassurance scan on the 22nd Sept, I was really surprised by that.

I also am a bit worried about the lack of sore boobs, every other pregnancy they have been very sore from early on, I have had a few twinges but I want full on sorenessSmile

congrats and welcome to all the new BFPs

KittyVonCatsington · 26/08/2014 13:55

Oooh, been reading lots on the Internet really need to go back to work and found this explanation of counting how many weeks we are:

During the week you start your period, you are in your first week of pregnancy, but you have not yet completed a full week. It's all about completing each week - putting one week behind you and starting another one. Therefore:
in your first week you are zero weeks pregnant
in your second week you are one week pregnant
in your third week you are two weeks pregnant
in your fourth week you are three weeks pregnant
in your fifth week you are four weeks pregnant

KittyVonCatsington · 26/08/2014 13:58

X-post!

They sound like great midwives thefources and I would def take them up on it!

I'm sure the sore boobs will arrive with a vengeance at some point Grin

NoRoomForALittleOne · 26/08/2014 14:18

I've never had sore boobs as an early symptom. Needing to wee loads, extreme tiredness and spots on my face (great!) are my first symptoms. Quickly followed by excess saliva (yuck), nausea and eventually full on sickness.

I've been told that I don't need to see the GP and the midwife likes to see you at 6-8 weeks for an initial appointment that is NOT a booking appointment Hmm so I've no idea what the midwife does at an initial appointment.

Justyouwaitandsee · 26/08/2014 18:30

Hi everyone, just finished work and haven't had a chance to jump on here before, although did sneak a cheeky glance earlier. I never thought pregnancy would be such a guilt/anxiety fest. Panicking if we have symptoms, panicking if we don't. I still don't have any real symptoms other than needing to wee more than usual and trouble getting to sleep at night (very unusual). Similar to what a couple of you described earlier. I am just trying to count myself lucky. Have just been and stocked up on lots of healthy super foods and got booked in to see the midwife on 24th September, which seems ages away. I also need to go in to collect an antenatal pack and some forms apparently.

KittyVonCatsington · 26/08/2014 20:20

Just told my Pilates instructor I was v v early pregnant so my programme could be altered and it felt weird telling someone that wasn't DH or on Mumsnet Grin

NoRoom it seems to differ wherever you are so I think we may all have slightly different experiences seeing the midwife for the first time!

Just I'd love the idea of an antenatal pack-feels like it would be just like a goody bag Smile

angusmuckspreading · 26/08/2014 20:43

Hello and congratulations everyone! I have had 2 BFPs whilst we were on holidays and took some cheapie tesco tests with me as I had fingers crossed. According to NHS calculator, I am due 2nd May and this is DC2. Trying to keep it between me and DH until 12 weeks. Doesn't seem real and touch wood no sickness yet.

Justyouwaitandsee · 26/08/2014 20:58

Congrats angusmuck Smile
Welcome to the group! I was starting to feel smug that maybe I'd avoid the sickness but it seems like we all might be waiting for it to strike! Eek!
I can't imagine how I'm going to keep it under wraps at work if I'm ill.
Am also getting very nervous about telling our parents - think we are telling PIL on Thursday and then my parents on Friday when I see them. (They are away at the moment which makes things a bit easier as we normally speak everyday)

Plan to collect the pack tomorrow so will let you know what it's like kitty. I think it has a urine sample pot so poss not that glam!! Exciting to hear you have told someone! Does it make it seem more real?!

In more exciting news I picked up a Baby on Board badge today, just so I can be prepared in case sickness does strike suddenly on my commute. Although hoping not to have to use it just yet!!

KittyVonCatsington · 26/08/2014 21:27

Yippee! Congratulations angus Thanks Seeing those positive tests is the best, isn't it?! A little brother or sister...how exciting

Good luck telling parents and PIL Just Smile

Just come back from my GP appointment -didn't comeback with an antenatal pack yet-I'm to pick up something called Emma's Diary from them tomorrow.

I did get sent home with two urine pots-one for a pregnancy test and one for "cultures" not more specific than that

They have also booked me in for a blood test next Tuesday. There seems to be a long list that includes HIV, Syphalis, Blood Count, toxoplasmosis (I have two cats) blood type, among other things. Eek! Guess we'll have to get used to being prodded with needles!
Now I just need to figure out how to contact my school to let them know I will be a little late on Tuesday!

GinIsCalling · 27/08/2014 08:15

Hello! I feel a bit of a fraud joining the group as my digital test was negative. But I have done three cheapie stick tests since and there is a definitely pink (albeit faint) second line in each (I even dipped one in water to compare and its very different). My period isn't due until tomorrow so planning on retrying with my second digital then as I tried 5-days early with the first.
I got married last month and came off the pill at the end of July when I finished my packet. We obviously had a baby in mind, but my husband was away until August 15th so I though we had missed our chance this month (I had ovulation pain the night before he came home). We are still discussing if we are ready for another baby, but I am really excited at the thought of another! So have my fingers crossed. I haven't told him yet - waiting until I get the positive on the digital.
BUT my face has broken out, I'm weeing every five mins, my boobs are swollen and I really hope it's happening! I'm 33, this would be baby number two (we have a three-year-old) and my due date would be May 8th.
