Hi everyone! Had my booking in today, all went well even my bloods which are usually nigh on impossible with my weird veins. Midwife says I should get my 12 week scan date within the next week or so. Very exciting! She's also told me about the midwife led unit where I REALLY want to give birth, but it depends on my BMI. I don't know what it is, I don't even know what I weigh tbh.

Hello newcomers, and so excited for Zyla on your pink news! We are kind of hoping for a girl this time, with two boys already, but would be just as happy with another boy.

Another new symptom, I'm constantly salivating! Like stupid amounts, all the time. More so when I feel sick. And a horrible taste in my mouth, like you get when your mouth is dry first thing in the morning, only all day. No wonder I don't feel like eating much.

Hi Kitten great to see you on this thread :-)

Has anyone heard how Fishfinger is? She seemed very poorly earlier today.

Not heard from 'fishfinger. Also wondering about queef; didn't she have her scan this aft?

Evening all, and welcome to newbies :)

Had my 12 week scan this morning :) all is well, I'm spot on for dates at 12+1, but have never had a 28 day cycle in my life! Baby wasn't cooperating with position so had to do some walking and jiggling lol, but got there in the end. Then went out to a local forest with DP and ds (DP took day off work) and had a lovely time, so I'll go to bed a happy thing tonight :)

Congrats to everyone having scans and tests today xx

Ohh new threas
How did it go queef? Any news?
Congrats Zyla that is great to know things are all good and a girl!

sp1rals I feel your pain!! I had a meltdown (well a few actually) last night as I had to go to supermarket for supplies for breakfast time (something I am really struggling with) and I had to hold in the sick all the way round, got home and DH had another dig about having to do all the dishes again (I have really not been pulling me weight) and so I just sat in the bed and howled!! I had had enough! I how pathetic I was feeling and not being able to help and not feeling normal anymore!

Then the midwife that said she could take on Tuesday with that new lady, emailed back to say she was now full!!! I thought I was waiting to hear back about her experience she totally dumped me! So I howled again bloody hormones!

Woke up this morning with a really sore throat? Anyone else have that? Is it the dry retching all the time or a bug coming? Gah
Sorry for the rant

Welcome newbies :)

welcome kitten we are due on the same date! Smile

Congrats zyla foscar and pink. foscar such lovely clear photos, I'm so envious.

My DS is the same age as zebra's - only 21 months so no point telling him yet. I will wait until my stomach is huge then explain to him that there's a baby in there. He absolutely adores babies so I know he'll love being a big brother.

queef any news? Hope all is ok.

Welcome kitten! I'm also due around your date (9+3 today).

Great news about everyone's scans today. I went for an emergency scan today because of all the bleeding and next scan not booked until 10.9. (Aaaaages away), and everything is fine. Quite nerve wrecking though as the doctor tried to scan through the tummy and her face got more and more serious and finally on the internal scan she pronounced "ah! Il est là!" (On hols in France atm) I cried tears of relief!! Still not in safe waters but no more spotting or bleeding and despite no morning sickness anymore baby is fine so I can relax for a bit now.

Oh and zyla how exciting to know it's a girl already!

I have to confess I secretly like the idea of a girl now after falling in love with my newborn cousin who I met for the first time yesterday. I have always wanted boys and never been bothered about having a daughter so it's quite a turnaround. Equally though I would be thrilled with another boy like DS, he's such a joy and was a very easy baby.

What a lovely welcome! Going to start off by throwing a topic in there. How's everyone doing with their jeans/work trousers? I'm struggling with my high waist skinny got work trousers already. Not really sure what to do as maternity clothes would be silly and wouldn't fit this early but I don't want to buy size 16 work trousers for the few weeks before I fit into maternity. I've looked at these belly band things with the buttons, like just waist expanders but I don't like them and I've three buttons on my work trousers so I'd have to buy new trousers anyway. Any ideas?

Kitten I bought a belly band, bit like a boob tube but for waist. The idea is that it holds up your trousers so u can undo buttons. I find my jeans still slip down when I bend down though, but probably works better when a bit bigger. I have 2outfits I am rotating for work, it's winter here so one involves leggings and tunic..bliss!! Although a bit bump showy!

Report
kittenmamma · 20/08/2014 23:11

I've seen those, I think they may be my best option though like you say the risk of slipping is not great for me, I supervise in a wetherspoons so am constantly running about, as you can imagine! I'm hoping my boss might let me sneak about in a pair of black leggings, because those skinny fits aren't working for me!
I could do the hair band trick on my buttons though, and cover it with the band?

Report
PickledPorcupine · 20/08/2014 23:24

Kitten today I used a strong hair bobble to fasten them and wore a long vest top under my top which worked well so I could wear my jeans.

Report
Surfsup1 · 20/08/2014 23:25

Hmm, I found the belly bands were good for covering the cold gap between your jeans and your t-shirt, but they don't hold anything up. Topshop does pretty great maternity jeans though - or they did 7 years ago!

It's my 7yo's b'day today - so grown up! I can't believe I'm going back to square one again - urgh!!

Cannot wait for this tiredness to abate - I have too much to do! I'm flying down to Melbourne tomorrow to meet DH (who is working down there) for a date-night. I should be really looking forward to it, but I'm a bit worried about what to wear as my belly is looking distinctly podgy at the moment. Not really obviously pregnant but more like I just ate a whole cake Blush.
I'm also a bit concerned that I'll just fall asleep in my entree!

grump grump @ insomnia Sad

thanks for the new thread

it's great to hear about positive scans and nifty test results

do the local hospital charge for photos pink? did you have to wait long?

I had a scan last weekend and the harmony test, will put photo up when on the laptop.
results of harmony including the sex at the end of the month when we have a 2nd scan for NT excited

we're taking the kids to the scan so they'll know all about the baby!

has everyone told their bosses etc? really nervous as I'm only in a contract until the end of the year and don't want my boss to know in case he ends it early :(

Pinksun12 · 21/08/2014 04:43

madasacatter I'm only starting the job on 1.9. so don't reckon they will fall over backwards with joy when I tell them!! (And only telling them after the scan on 10.9.) so I'm mega nervous about telling them!

Is your job permanent pinksun?

Unfortunately, I can be terminated very easily as a contractor and I don't have any comeback on discrimination etc

Report
Pinksun12 · 21/08/2014 05:27

Even when you're pregnant and before the end of your contract? I thought once you announce your pregnancy you're untouchable?
Fortunately we live in Germany now, so working rights are pretty good, they can't do anything with me I don't want until August 2015.
Have you sought legal advice so you know exactly your position before you tell them?

Good morning all - how's everyone feeling today? fish, queef, hope all is ok.

I felt v v v unwell yesterday - very nearly lost breakfast 1 and 2 on the way home from booby group, then felt horrendous all afternoon. From what I can remember last time, weeks 10-12 were my peak of ms then I felt better so hoping this is the worst of it!
