Just Shagging - Thread 11 for Graduated Viroids!

JuniDD · 17/08/2014 06:27

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 11th grads thread...celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed Grin

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 27th outing.

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal here once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a secret facebook group, if you want to join, ask in-thread.

So, roll call below please, viroids! Smile

I had booking at 6wks, scan at 12wks, app at 16 wks and scan at 20 wks. Next app now is 24 wks. Sounds like everywhere is different!

I know being pg isn't an excuse for not doing stuff but it might be kinda nice of him to meaningfully help out for once... He's always so happy to sit back and let me take over... Hmm

Glad the scan went well Wil - are you still team yellow?

Hooray for shopping Juni! I needs me some retail therapy... What did you get for your hospital bag the other day? x

wilmabedrock · 01/09/2014 18:31

Yeah I think it's a mistake, might phone them. Yes still team yellow although MrWil is convinced it's a boy. Only trouble with that is I know he really wants a boy so hope he won't be disappointed if it's not.

I also had a takeaway Lauren, but don't feel sick thankfully. Hope you feel better soon.

wilmabedrock · 01/09/2014 18:32

Oh andpopz pregnancy is totally an excuse for not doing things! Only time in your life you'll get away with it! Wink

JuniDD · 01/09/2014 18:39

Thanks for the lying down advice, had some nice squirms & kicks. Might call midwives tomorrow anyway - will keep me from the shops! (joke).

I've got some black nightwear - PJs, nighty & dressing gown (other threads put the fear of God into you about the bloodstains. I bled all over the bed after my ERPC which scared the shit out of the husband of the woman in the next bed having a prolapse fixed. Shouldn't have been looking!)
Two cheap towels - advised to sink one to the bottom of the pool if you want a waterbirth.
All from Primark so cheap as chips.

Lots of my jumbo Always pads
Slippers
General wash bag...

Will do a little post if I get bored enough when I pack it.

I am secretly hoping for a homebirth so this may all be for nothing! Hope I can have a decent discussion with midwife about this as I feel v back & forth about it at the moment. Bag is ready regardless!

Why a towel for the bottom of the pool? #confused

JuniDD · 01/09/2014 18:48

apparently the midwives like you to kneel and the material the pool is made of is quite hard so it's just a bit gentler on the knees.

It's kinda funny packing for every birth eventuality. I wonder what will actually happen...?

I have my first mw appointment this week but my area are trialling a group appointment first (general info on pregnancy) then an individual one a couple of weeks later for bloods, urine and medical history (and presumably, booking the dating scan). Anyone else had this? It has something to do with having difficultly fitting in everyone's appointments and getting scans on time. I admit to having reservations about the group one in case there is anyone there I know!

couldbeanyone · 01/09/2014 18:51

Juni I went in the pool last time and sort of floated holding on to the side, no one gave me the tip about the towel (although at that point sore knees was the least of my worries! Confused)

JuniDD · 01/09/2014 18:58

I got that tip from Lazy Daisy could.

I went to the group booking with my first pg (ended at 10 wks, molar). I live in a deprived area so it was mainly them banging on about not smoking, eating well and breastfeeding. They also talked about choices of where to have the baby (hospitals/home), gave out wee pots and loads of other paperwork that the midwives give you anyway.

That was 2012 and they don't seem to do it anymore. I wouldn't worry about missing it, especially if it's your second.

I wanted the pool last time but wasn't allowed. Stoopid induction. Not sure I'd be loving the joint appointment either. Especially as you have to go in for bloods and stuff, so I don't really see the point. Sometimes I'm thankful I live where there aren't so many people.

JuniDD · 01/09/2014 18:59

Re towel - good to know that grazed knees are unlikely to be an issue, though!

Hope you're ok now rpopz. I'm happy to come round for some punchytimes if it would help. I've got time on my hands and need to stay away from shops... Wink x

I will go for the appointment as they do the bookings for the next appointment then and want to get you in the system. I may go in disguise though Also could do with as much notice as possible for any appts as dd is starting school and next few weeks are all over the place with this settling in stuff schools are intent on doing.

Apparently there will be a feedback form to fill in after so I consider it in the greater good to sample said system and give a fully informed unbiased mumsnet stylee opinion GrinWink

Pool is really good for pain relief and allows you to get in positions you couldn't on dry land so to speak so if you can do it, go for it.

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 01/09/2014 20:03

Juni, I've found a pair of DH's old black boxers over my pants are best after labour, I can stick two massive maternity pads on my pants and not worry about them sticking out.

RPopz, hope everything is alright...and he makes it on holiday with you Grin

25wks here and just poking my head in!

ZylaB · 01/09/2014 20:07

This is probably a stupid question but... If you have a CS do you still bleed and need pads after? I know nothing!

wilmabedrock · 01/09/2014 20:14

I didn't know that either Zyla but was reliably informed on here a while ago that you do still bleed after a cs.

RPopz · 01/09/2014 20:15

I think so Zyla - but I only know that from here!

I'm exhausted. The room is just about finished but all the brushes etc need cleaning. Noone's eaten, we still have packing to do and laundry to dry... the dog is covered in woodland again after I spent an hour grooming him yesterday ready for kennels..... I could actually just cry!

wilmabedrock · 01/09/2014 20:26

But at least it's done popz and you can go off on holiday without it hanging over your head. You deserve wine cake.

RPopz · 01/09/2014 20:27

I need fruit and nut, stat!!

ZylaB · 01/09/2014 20:58

Take out, then think about packing etc. :)

couldbeanyone · 01/09/2014 21:31

From personal experience yes you definitely bleed after a CS zyla

laurenamium · 01/09/2014 21:39

Could, I have a sure start appointment in the morning which I think is the equivalent of your group appointment. It's indivudual but the receptionist at the doctor said I HAVE to go Hmm I don't really want to as I'm a childminder and so use the sure start for work regularly and know all of the staff. So everyone is going to know before my own immediate family Confused I will feed back on what the check but I'm guessing they'll just be weighing me and giving me a lecture on not eating pate or smoking!

ZylaB · 01/09/2014 21:55

Thanks for the CS info guys :)

RPopz · 01/09/2014 22:28

Will you have to have a cs Zy? Sorry can't remember if you said before x

ZylaB · 02/09/2014 06:32

Um, they said there's at least a 50% chance of it. I think when I get nearer my EDD I'll have more of a chat with them, I'm happy to be induced and go for a natural birth IF there's a chance it'll all be ok, if I start naturally and they think there's a fair chance it'll then end in emcs I'd rather just have that from the start, less chance of me and baby getting distressed , but we'll see nearer the time.

splodge77 · 02/09/2014 09:02

hi all, did I say I had no preg symptoms? scratch that, I'm farting like a trooper! Forgot about the whole bloating / crap digestion thing. I don't remember having hurty knees in the pool when giving birth to DS - too much hurtiness going on elsewhere to notice sore knees!! No but seriously, I'd defo recommend water for pain relief. I found it wonderful & was in there for about 5 hours. It's a long way off but I'm in a bit of a quandary about natural birth versus CS this time. I think if I pushed for it (no pun intended) i could get an elective CS as I suffered quite a bad bladder/bowel prolapse birthing DS naturally (sorry if TMI) but on the other hand I'm wondering if all the damage has already been done and therefore another baby would just slide on out!! ha ha. My mum had a similar situation and reckons no further damage was done when I was born. Ah well, got plenty of time to think about it all and decide...
