Haha, yes, President, I also lose a lot of clothes when I walk in the door!! I'm sure the ice lollies will help with your throat too Grin

Good luck for the scans ladies, hope all is well with the small people!

Penguin13 · 25/07/2014 10:08

Ooh good luck for scans ladies. Enjoy seeing your growing babies again!

Get well soon President. Hope the doc can give you something to help your throat. I've only had strep throat once and that was more than enough - I sympathise!

Is it too early for an ice-lolly? I do at least have a nice icy cold drink as Mr Penguin has taken to putting a bottle of water in the freezer for me to take to work with my packed lunch.

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 25/07/2014 10:25

Good luck Covent (scan about now!) and Strawbs!

Penguin, it's never too early for an ice lolly!

Get well soon President.

Today would have been my grandmother's birthday, when we visited her in hospital before she passed away a few years ago, I told her we were ttc and that if we ever had a girl, she would be named after her. i wish they could have met.

The pic is not very clear but here we go, meet baby Juliette. Scan results are all good, we worried a bit as they spent a lot of time on the heart because they had trouble seeing what they were looking for. Baby was shy and hiding her face with her arms and sucking her thumb. Lots of poking from the sonographer didn't make her change her mind/position, little stubborn thing Grin

Her bedroom will NOT be pink but that evens out the score. 2-2

Get well soon president

Good luck for this afternoon strawbs

Congratulations covent! What a lovely name and for a lovely reason.

CakesALot · 25/07/2014 13:27

Lovely news Covent, beautiful name too and for beautiful reasons. Welcome to the girl club! Baby cakes' room will not be pink either! I'm all about brights! Glad all was well and congratulations on arriving at the half way milestone Smile

PresidentSpreadable · 25/07/2014 16:03

Aw, congratulations covent! That's a beautiful name, and how lovely to pass it down the generations.

Went to the docs and he seems to think I have thrush in my throat, rather than strep. Gross.

Penguin13 · 25/07/2014 19:40

Congratulations Covent. What a beautiful name and a lovely way to remember your grandmother. So pleased all is well.

Were they able to give you any treatment for your throat President?

basgetti · 25/07/2014 19:45

Congratulations Covent,what a lovely name.

Hope you feel better soon President, sounds painful x

PresidentSpreadable · 25/07/2014 19:54

Thanks. I've got something to gargle, but feeling very sorry for myself. Eating and drinking is eyewateringly painful. Meh.

Penguin13 · 25/07/2014 20:24

Ouch President you poor thing. I remember all too vividly how that felt. Even eating ice-cream was torture. Once I'd been to the doc it cleared up quickly though so hope it is the same for you.

StrawbsAndCream · 25/07/2014 20:35

Congratulations on your baby girl Covent what a lovely name and reason behind it!!

All was well with our little boy, he doesn't like the cold gel, and now I've realised the kicks near my belly button are actually him elbowing me! He did it on screen and I felt it really hard. Measuring fine and all healthy, he had his hand in his mouth too Covent, you can see his arm just up towards his face.

Cervical scan not so great but ok, it is measuring 2.8cm but ideally it should be between 3-5cm, so only 2mm below but the cut off is 3cm so now I have to be under consultant and have another scan in 2 weeks to check it hasn't got any shorter. I had already read up about it so knew it was shorter than normal, am in a bit of a mess really, was holding it together until H asked me if I was getting upset and that was it! Cried all over him, I just wish they had said yep all fine off you go! If it gets shorter I've read most ladies have to go on bed rest/be hospitalised and take progesterone. I know some have a stitch but that's if it's really short and usually earlier on. Really hope it just stays the same at the next scan, hopefully i just have a naturally shorter cervix, there was no funneling and it was completely closed so that's a good sign and the sonographer said everything looked good. Fingers crossed. Going to rest as much as I can and take it very easy. Wish we could fast forward a few months! Anyway sorry for the doom and gloom.

One of my close friends had her baby boy today.. He was 11lbs exactly! He looks like a gorgeous 2 month old Shock

Hope everyone has a good weekend and doesn't melt!

StrawbsAndCream · 25/07/2014 20:39

Sorry President forgot to say I hope it's better soon, that must be awful :-( hopefully the gargling will ease it, poor thing!

Penguin13 · 26/07/2014 07:55

Oh Strawbs I'm sorry it wasn't 100% the news you were hoping for at the scan and it's making you worry. There were lots of positives in there so try to hold on to those - I know it's hard though. You're only just outside the ideal margins and given that you're fairly petite from what you've said that would seem logical. See your cervix isn't short, it's proportionally petite Smile. It's my understanding from the little I've read that the state of your cervix is more important than length ie it can be ideal length but weak or, as it sounds like in your case, short and strong I know, you missed the part where I got my medical degree Grin sending hugs xx

CakesALot · 26/07/2014 08:58

Strawbs, like penguin said, there's lots of positives to take on there and your little boy is doing well. And you'll be closely monitored now and all will be well I'm sure Smile

Penguin13 · 26/07/2014 10:56

Ugh. Having a rubbish morning. It was meant to be my last lesson before my driving test and it was awful. My instructor thinks I'm not ready which I know is true (last two lessons have ended in me just about holding it together then sobbing as soon as I got through my front door) and I want to change my test date but H thinks I should just do the test anyway and I feel like a massive failure for not being ready and for not wanting to do the test till I am more prepared. I already feel hugely guilty for the fact that he has to drive me everywhere and I'm letting him down if I don't try to take my test now but if I passed I know I wouldn't be a safe driver because I acknowledge the confidence to make quick decisions. Ugh sorry not even pg related just feeling properly miserable Sad

CakesALot · 26/07/2014 18:06

Oh penguin! It's times like this you could really do with a drink! I can't comment on whether you should still take your test or not but I just wanted to say that whenever you do pass, it takes quite some time afterwards to feel comfortable driving. I felt far more nervous driving on my own than I ever did in a lesson! It's a cheesey line but my FIL said to me "now you've passed your test, it's time to learn to drive". So don't worry about what happens if you do pass, and I'd be inclined to agree with your h, don't cancel it, have a go with a 'nothing to lose' attitude and see what happens. I was going through this this time last year-and for similar reasons, I felt so bad that DH did all the driving and ferried me everywhere. I hated learning and hated the tests but my confidence on the road gets better with every drive. It's a long old battle but soooo worth the agony!! Thanks

CakesALot · 26/07/2014 18:15

Hmm I just read that back and it sure how helpful it was! I meant try not to worry about being the perfect driver because you won't be. You just need to show how far you have got in your lesson in those 35 minutes. And don't worry if you fail, dust yourself off and book another test. Took me 3 attempts. Be brave and have a go!

PresidentSpreadable · 26/07/2014 19:27

Oh penguin I can't even imagine trying to learn to drive whilst pregnant, let alone do the test, I'm not surprised you've ended up feeling fraught.

If it's any consolation it took me four attempts to pass. As Cakes says though you never really stop learning with driving, even twenty two years later I still find myself being surprised. Passing the test doesn't suddenly morph you into an amazing and competent driver, so don't fret too much about not feeling ready, you never know what you might be able to pull out of the bag on the day.

The best bit of advice I was ever given was to never ever assume that you know what another road user is about to do.

The ability to make quick decisions comes with experience, but always better to err on the side of caution.

Good luck.

Oh and in good news, all of the white spots at the back of my throat have vanished and it's far less sore!

Penguin13 · 26/07/2014 21:01

Thanks ladies, sorry for the mememe whinge. It seemed like a massive catastrophe this morning but I think lack of sleep is playing its part there. H found me sobbing my heart out and gave me a big cuddle and made me feel a lot better. I think at this stage going in for a test would do more damage to my confidence than good so I'm going to change the date and put in a shed load of practice to boost my confidence which is what I really need. H is going to come out in the car the next time I have a lesson so he can figure out how to get the best out of our practice sessions.

So glad your throat is feeling better President

CoventGarden75 · 26/07/2014 21:31

high five cakes

strawbs sorry to hear you're having a hard time. From what you say it looks nicely close and tight. fx there's no change in 2 weeks time.

penguin glad you've agreed on a action plan, but remember whenever you go for it, it's only a test Smile

good news president

CoventGarden75 · 28/07/2014 13:53

Happy Monday
Who's next for the scan? Anyone today? Or is it you regular, tomorrow, what time?

CallingAllEngels · 28/07/2014 17:17

Hi everyone, back from holiday on Saturday night and have been gradually catching up with mn!

Lovely scan pics. I still have 3 weeks to go (will be 21+1 as we are away at ILs caravan the week before).

Feeling the heat - wish it would bugger off. I love autumn and spring...cooler days, lots of layers. I really don't cope well with hot days!

18+1

regularbutpanickingabit · 28/07/2014 17:52
