Yay congratulations on your baby girl news cakes. Glad everything is looking good.

basgetti · 16/07/2014 14:55

Lovely news Cakes.

I'm back to GP in the morning, kept nothing down since monday night, am going to beg for some more medication. I'm desperate to avoid another hospital admission but it's looking increasingly likely. Sorry I'm such a misery, I'll try to join in the thread again properly when I'm feeling better. I promise I'm still reading though, to keep up with everyone's news and scan updates. Hope everyone is doing well x

Penguin13 · 16/07/2014 15:09

Oh Basgetti that sounds utterly miserable Sad. I really hope that a change in medication helps to sort you out. I am in awe of how you are coping with another little one to look after as well. Sending lots of very gentle non nausea-inducing hugs and get well wishes Thanks. Fingers crossed for you that you can avoid hospital again.

FranksBobot · 16/07/2014 15:43

Fab news cakes Am I correct in thinking you are our first team pink member? So pleased all was well.

Basgetti sorry to hear that you are still really unwell. Hopefully the doctor will look after you properly.

Thanks for all the reassurance regarding big age gap. It's nice to know that those of you with much older/younger siblings like it! I was worried she had been on her own too long to adapt!!

CakesALot · 16/07/2014 16:00

Thanks all! I think I am the first pink! Here's her picture-not a great one, she wasn't being very cooperative!

Basgetti, that sounds miserable. Take care of yourself. You're doing so well so far xx

StrawbsAndCream · 16/07/2014 18:02

Fantastic news cakes! Our first girl! Congratulations Grin

Who's 20 week scan is next? Should I be concerned that I haven't had the letter with my appt and I'm already 19 weeks? Midwife said it should come this week but nothing so far!

Poor you basgetti it must be awful to feel so bad still, hopefully they will give you meds and you'll avoid the hospital again, thinking of you.

I haven't got many cravings either! Really like milk though as well, how much weight has everyone put on since pre-pregnancy if you don't mind me asking?!
And does anyone else feel the need to wee all the time and then there's hardly anything to come out? I think maybe he's on my bladder, it's mainly when I'm stood up.

Hope everyone's having a good Wednesday!

CakesALot · 16/07/2014 18:36

Strawbs, when my 12 week appointment hadn't come through when I was 13 weeks, my midwife told me to call the scan department myself and give them a nudge. Turned out my notes were on a pile somewhere and hadn't been seen! But they rang me back later that day and let me choose a time to come in.

I couldn't tell you how much I've put on because I never weigh myself! A lovely friend at work keeps telling me I'm not putting on weight anywhere except my bump (she might be too polite to say that my boobs have also doubled in size!) so I might just keep asking her how I look!!

Some days I wee loads, some days it's normal, it must be the position baby cakes is in! She also spent most of yesterday sat on a nerve so my right hip went numb!

Question for you knowledgable ladies - my first scan said my placenta was posterior, this one says fundal. So do you think its both, at the top and at the back?? Or did they get it wrong first time? I know its nothing to worry about, I'm just curious! I wish they would explain everything on your notes to you!

PresidentSpreadable · 16/07/2014 19:04

My scan's on Monday at 9am, can't wait! Bit gutted that we've decided not to find out the sex, but determined to remain strong.

I'm weeing about 5x a night on average, and it does feel a bit like the baby is bouncing in my bladder sometimes.

No idea about the placenta Strawbs. Congrats on a girl cakes, commiserations basgetti.

Penguin13 · 16/07/2014 20:03

Solidarity for team yellow President Smile.

I think it might be your consultant appointment tomorrow Strawbs if so I really hope it sets your mind at ease. I would definitely call up re your 20 week scan just to check.

I am too scared to weigh myself but I think the past few months weeks of eating whatever I like have taken their toll! Blush Will be attempting to cut back on the sweet treats to ensure am not super-unhealthy and the size of a house by the time baby penguin arrives!

FranksBobot · 16/07/2014 20:07

Strawbs definitely chase up your scan. They may have miss placed your notes.
I have put on 9lb since pre pregnancy Shock Not sure if that's a bad thing but considering how ill I was to start with it's pretty impressive!!

cakes as your uterus stretches the placenta can "move" as such. It obviously doesn't dislodge etc but the position can be slightly different due to a now bigger uterus. (Hope that makes sense)

Yes needed to pee lots here too although (TMI alert) I now have awful piles thanks to the sodding constipation Sad
I have my 16 week appointment tomorrow morning so hoping she can give me something for them.

Anyone else watching OBEM tonight? I cry from start to finish but love it!

OP posts:
PresidentSpreadable · 16/07/2014 22:01

My name is PresidentSpeadable and I am an OBEM-aholic.

Although, I've remained resolutely dry eyed tonight, which is unheard of. It's the little starfish hands that usually set me off. Envious of the homebirth, looked so much less stressful than being on a labour ward.

I'm glad you're team yellow too Penguin! I keep wavering, but I will resist.

CakesALot · 16/07/2014 22:07

Love OBEM! DH has watched one episode and claims that's all he needs to see so I have to record them and watch them when he's out. It's a nice treat though!

Thanks, Franks. That does make sense. Smile

Penguin13 · 17/07/2014 05:53

Oh my god Franks I read your post about piles (poor you that must be really uncomfortable) just before bed but was too tired to post then had the most horrific dream involving having to view some huge cases of piles! Quite glad to wake up from that one.

I love a bit of OBEM but DH is def not a fan so haven't seen it lately although I've watched a few episodes of 'extreme fishing' so I must have built up some TV choosing credits by now! It's when the dads cry that sets me off.

FranksBobot · 17/07/2014 08:31

Oops sorry about that Penguin !!

DPs excuse for not watching OBEM is a) I've done it before and b) the midwife will be at the business end!! Bloody charming! Glad to know he isn't the only one though.
Last night had me in floods of tears as soon as it started thanks to the couple in the car park.

Off to see the midwife this morning and have a list as long as my arm of stuff I want to whine about.

17 weeks today Yay!

OP posts:
PresidentSpreadable · 17/07/2014 09:45

Oh dear, I misread that as 'extreme fisting' Penguin!

I am so far, touch wood, pile free, and still having zero problems in that department. Hurrah!

I was quite shocked that the woman having her sixth (A,B,C,D,E, F for Frankie) baby was the same age as me, I'd pegged her at nearer 50. Cue anxious enquiries to MrPres about whether I looked that old.

The young couple with the homeless guy broke my heart a bit.

regularbutpanickingabit · 17/07/2014 10:26

Good luck with the scans and appointments. I go back to my consultant next Tuesday after my disastrous registrar appt a couple of weeks ago! i then have my 20 week scan the following Tuesday.

Cakes - congrats on the team pink and thanks for your age reassurance!
Basgetti - really sorry to hear you are so ill. If they think you need to be in hospital then don't fight it, you poor thing.
Franks- piles sound horrible. Hope you get some relief soon.

Sure I have missed loads out so sorry!

Penguin13 · 17/07/2014 11:48

Haha President just a little light Thursday morning discussion of pile-related dreams and extreme fisting Shock Would have been even more mind-boggling if I'd posted the full programme title 'Extreme fishing with Robson Green'. He's come a long way from Soldier Soldier..... Grin

Hope you have a good mw appointment Franks.

CakesALot · 17/07/2014 16:09

Piles and robson green fisting. Just an average Thursday then.

My word is it hot?! Thank goodness we're not massively pregnant because it's uncomfortable enough as it is! I'm heading home to eat 10 ice lollies and watch last nights OBEM before DH gets in!

StrawbsAndCream · 17/07/2014 22:58

Grin at extreme fisting with Robson Green and piles dreams!

Well talking of fisting, today I had a man's hand up my bits while my husband was watching, a very fun experience!
Had the consultant appt and he gave me a cervical exam just to check as i'd had the cervical pain, he said it was fine, closed and long so he doesn't seem worried, also scanned me really quickly which was a nice surprise, although it was an ancient monitor so wasn't a great picture, baby was turned upside down for the first time on a scan, I had thought so as I'd felt more wriggles today than hard kicks as his legs are facing the inside! So all good but now of course I'm worrying about the internal exam causing infection and then prem labour haha I need to get a grip! He wouldn't have done It if it wasn't safe.. Right?!

Oh and the mystery of my 20 week scan was solved.. My referral paper was still left in my notes! So annoying..so it's been put through now and I'm having a cervical length check at the same time now, he's a thorough one!

How did your midwife appt go Franks? Did she give you something for the piles? I hope so.

How is everyone else doing?

My F-I-L and B-I-L both felt the baby move today, they were so excited! He's definitely got long legs.. They were one side of me and his head was the other on the scan, the consultant actually said he felt sorry for me after seeing Mr Strawbs, joy!

StrawbsAndCream · 17/07/2014 23:01

*cervical length scan!

Penguin13 · 18/07/2014 07:46

Great news about your appointment Strawbs but a flap with a flounder for even contemplating the possibility infection from the scan! You're right, they wouldn't do it if it wasn't safe. Brilliant that they are going to do a cervical length scan at the 20 week too - reassuring that they're being so thorough.

At 20+4 my kicks are still few and far between and still more of a 'I think that was a kick?' but I'm 5ft7 and DH is a shorty so maybe bubs just has loads of room to wriggle around without bumping into anything at the mo. Still Envy though!

CoventGarden75 · 18/07/2014 11:02

franks how did it go with mw? Snap on weight gain, about 9lb so far, and also constant trips to the loo, days and nights, and so thirsty all the time.

strawbs good to hear all is fine.

Work is so quiet, I'm bored, I sense a looonnnggg lunch break coming my way. Enough of sitting in air con office without fresh air when there's a glorious sunshine outside. I feel robbed of summer.

No much movement here either, very random, haven't felt anything for a while, so thanks for Doppler!

19+1 and one week to scan.

Penguin13 · 18/07/2014 11:46

Good news today. Some of you might remember my H was hospitalised for a couple of nights after a racing heart (tachycardia I think it was called) linked to his congenital heart condition. He was finally seen by a specialist this morning (typical NHS efficiency) and he was pretty much given the all clear although he has to go back for an exercise test and an MRI in a couple of months and have yearly check-ups from now on. They were very excited to find out he has an identical twin without the condition and even want to do blood tests on his twin to gather data so in some small way he gets to help medical research which is kind of cool.

Even though the doc said it sounds like the radiographer knew what they were doing when she checked the heart she offered us a more detailed scan by a heart specialist if we want as although H's condition is not hereditary as such the risk of any issues is something like 3-5% versus 1% for the general population. Would you bother? Part of me feels like it's such a small risk but the other part of me thinks if there was a problem I'd feel awful for not doing everything I could to check. They couldn't do anything till the baby was born anyway but they'd be prepared to intervene after the birth if necessary.

Sorry for the mememe fest!

CakesALot · 18/07/2014 12:19

Convent, I'm utterly bored at work too. Our work is seasonal and summer hols are the quietest time of the year. Lots of long lunches and browsing online for baby stuff!

Penguin, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to that. The risk is teeny tiny, so it might not feel worth it, but if you're concerned in any way then it will offer reassurance. FWIW, I would probably do it, but then I'm curious, and I like to plan and know what coming - if there is information to be had, I'll have it! Which was my main reason for finding out the sex. Totally up to you and your H though.

Strawbs, here's a second fish slap for worrying about infection! But I'm glad you're feeling reassured.

Baby cakes went nuts last night, kicking away for about half an hour, and DH got his first proper feel which was lovely. My kicks were really sporadic and only the odd one here and there for a while, but they're picking up now, getting more frequent and coming in batches! 20+5 today.

CoventGarden75 · 18/07/2014 14:37

Brilliant news penguin I agree with everything cakes says and would go for it too if it's been offered.
