FranksBobot · 28/12/2014 13:47

Congratulations Covent a Christmas Day baby at last!!

Hope everyone had a lovely christmas, ours was very laid back and for the first time in years I actually enjoyed every single second. There was no stress or arguements and we even had enough batteries!

Hoping the lack of update from calling means labour has finally started!!

No such luck!
40w today. Ended up getting checked over at hospital today as reduced movement the last 24 hours. Everything fine.

dh back in work for the next 3ndays so on my own with ds.

and managed to fall on my arse in snow this afternoon and twist my ankle.

feeling very blue that I'm now overdue.

CallingAllEngels · 29/12/2014 14:52

No sweep today as zero dilation. Another one booked for the end of the week on my birthday (nothing like an internal to celebrate).

CoventGarden75 · 29/12/2014 21:44

calling A sweep for your birthday, isn't that the best present ever Grin Hopefully not long to go now, your baby will be with you soon. I hope your ankle is ok Sad.

We had a difficult time in hospital: 2.5 days of induction followed by 1.5 days of observation after emcs, in a noisy ward, lots of stress for us and baby, and no sleep. We were so happy to be finally allowed home on saturday, (just in time to receive my parents). Things have settled down a bit here. Milk has come in. I can't believe i have a daughter, i absolutely adore her.

anyone's breastfeeding on demand?

Shanels · 30/12/2014 17:43

Sorry to hear that covent
2 weeks tonight at midnight since sophia was born and I still can't believe I have a daughter too.
I'm breastfeeding on demand... How's it going?

Shanels · 30/12/2014 17:44

Good luck calling! Here's to a successful birthday sweep!

FranksBobot · 01/01/2015 21:22

Oh Calling you certainly are having to wait for this baby! Fingers crossed the birthday sweep does the trick Flowers Happy birthday too. I hope you manage to have some sort of celebration

1cm dilated so was able to have the sweep Have asked DH NOT to talk to me during it if I have to have another one on Monday as I was trying to focus and zone out!

FranksBobot · 02/01/2015 22:15

Here's hoping for some dilating action over the weekend Calling How are you feeling in yourself? I went 14 days overdue with Dd1 and remember feeling quite low by the end of it all. Just think soon you'll be having lovely newborn snuggles Flowers

Cried my eyes out yesterday morning franks but I'm always a bit weepy on my birthday. Looking forward to a bit of routine next week if baby isn't here. DS back to nursery and DH back to work.

Hope everyone is getting on well with their babies. Is there a post-natal thread yet?

CoventGarden75 · 03/01/2015 22:32

belated happy new year everyone Smile

engels the last stretch is hard, i totally sympathise having just been through it. Do you have a 41 week checkup booked in case baby still hasn't made up their mind? and belated happy birthday to you Cake

shanels bf was a bit tricky around day 3-4 (painful nipples) but it's all sorted now and working out really well not mentioning the lack of sleep how is it going for you?

SIL is going back tomorrow, so we'll finally have some time as a new family, i've been looking forward to that moment since we got home, my parents were great but in a small flat in winter we were on top of each other, and it was difficult, i had to send them out at some point to get some space Confused

I haven't seen a post natal thread yet. Have i missed it?

Here's a pic at 1 week old Smile

Still fucking pregnant

40+9

FranksBobot · 06/01/2015 12:14

Oh calling Sad I was really hoping that it was going to be your turn at the weekend.
Stuff yourself full of cake and chocolates you deserve it!
This baby isn't half making you wait but it will sooo be worth it.

We are on route to the registry office to make Charlotte an official member of society!
Dd1 back at school today so trying to get all the paperworky bits done.

As I'm now feeding expressed milk full time we invested in an electric pump which arrived this morning and oh my days it's amazing! No more hand cramp and pumping for an hour. Had a full feed in 10 mins and managed to get 2 full feeds in one session. I think this will make me a lot happier as was starting to feel a bit low.

Know how you feel calling - I was 11 days late but it's anytime now for you. Any time.
covent glad all is well for you. After Sophia's tongue tie was sorted, bf is much better now. I still find it tiring but there seems to be enough and she is putting on weight.
franks can I ask why your expressing? I bought the electrical pump too but haven't used it yet. When are you supposed to use it and what for? I'm clueless!

FranksBobot · 06/01/2015 17:12

Shanels charlotte can't / won't latch on. She is too lazy in my opinion! Despite hours of trying she just won't go on the boob so now has it via a bottle. I pump every 2-3 hours (time permitting) to build up a good supply. Dd1 BF with no issues so expressing is all new to me too. It is working well for both of us though it's just hard work remembering to express regularly so milk supply stays constant. The hand pump was time consuming and tiring especially during the night.

Had my last mw appointment yesterday at 40+8 and cervix still 2cm from sweep on Friday. Now have an hospital appt Thursday to monitor baby and do an internal. If I'm dilated enough they'll allow my mw to break my waters at home on Friday morning and if contractions start within 6 hours I should be on course for mw led care in birth centre. If not, I'll be taken to hospital and put on drip. If cervix is not 'ripe' enough on Thursday I will be booked in for induction, hopefully Friday but if not Saturday or Sunday at the latest. They will insert a balloon into my cervix and inflate ot (never heard of this in the UK) to open it and then put me on drip.

Have come to terms with induction/hospital birth now, though still time for baby to sort itself out.

What's irritating me is the continued messages from acquaintances on fb or people who should know better, like my best friend or my closest colleague who has 4 children, asking me if there are any signs, or how did your appt go. Driving me crazy and upsetting me.

Sounds really time consuming franks. I expressed a lot with DS in the beginning to build my supply and then when I went back to work. We used the medela calma teats as found he really had to suck and make the effort to get the milk out so switched fairly easily between breast and bottle, even when we had to give him formula and expressed bm during the first few weeks.

Well, there are only about 5 people left on the main Dec thread who haven't had their babies yet. I'll cry if I'm last! Even on the Jan bus, nearly half of the babies have arrived and it's only the 6th January!

No postnatal thread unless one of you has set it up (I'm not qualified yet Grin ). Unless you want to join the main thread - there is a December PN thread if you want to join that instead of a separate one (it's not getting a lot of traffic atm as think most people are on fb).
