Hang in there Strawbs

Thanks for all the good wishes ladies. I couldn't have got here without you keeping me company and keeping me sane Flowers

penguin sounds like you are getting closer and closer to meeting baby penguin. My last few urine samples showed ketones and sugar but as my blood sugars were normal they weren't worried. I had one that showed protein but it was just a one off. Hope your tests come back ok and baby gets a move on on his/her own in the meantime.

Happy EDD day covent ! I had 5 sweeps in all - the last 2 were the day I was induced and probably no more than 2 hours apart! I had one when I was being monitored and when they put the pessary in for induction said they might as well give it another go while they were there! When I was going in for daily monitoring they said I could have one every day if I wanted and it was up to me.

sympathies to those with insomnia. I had it badly too the last few weeks and unfortunately I still don't think it prepared me for the lack of sleep now Sad We are doing well though and hope to finally decide on a name for our 3 day old boy soon!

basgetti sorry to hear you are still suffering. I hope baby makes an appearance sooner rather than later.

franks this time next week you will have a baby in your arms Xmas Smile

calling sounds like the potty training is going really well. It will be good if you only have to buy one lot of nappies at a time!

Penguin13 · 11/12/2014 17:56

Thanks Covent and happy EDD! I had my 2nd sweep a week after my first but my mw would have been happy to do it within a couple of days if my cervix had been favourable. If I don't end up getting induced today mw was talking about booking a couple over the weekend though hopefully it won't come to that!

Penguin13 · 11/12/2014 18:06

Whoops. Managed to miss an entire page at the end of the thread Blush

So sorry you're still suffering Basgetti. Fingers crossed baby Basgetti gets a wriggle on soon.

Still waiting for the results of my test but at least they have served me a cup of tea. They offered me some toast as well but there is a chicken pie with my name on it in the fridge at home!

Penguin13 · 11/12/2014 19:44

They eventually got back to me and said I can go home - hooray! Mixed result as I have to go back in for 7am tomorrow to be induced anyway (independent of test results) but baby penguin arriving safely is my priority so if I end up on the labour ward instead of the mlu so be it.

TinyMonkey · 11/12/2014 20:22

Sorry to hear you're feeling so rough basgetti, you really deserve a break from it.

Congratulations MrsFtn, great weight!

C'mon Baby Strawbs!

Bad luck on the swimming Covent. I went for a swim the day before my cesarean, I could've stayed in there all day, I almost cried when I got out was still managing 1/1.5km a time which was nice. A swimming teacher I got chatting to in the showers asked me if I was expecting twins, when I said 'no, but I am having a baby tomorrow' she was pretty impressed. Smile

Good luck for tomorrow Penguin, so exciting finally getting to meet your baby. Look forward to hearing all about it.

basgetti · 11/12/2014 21:52

Thanks Tiny, hope Theodora is doing well, she's so lovely.

Good luck with the induction Penguin, will be thinking of you!

Hope things are starting to progress Strawbs. xx

MrsFtn · 11/12/2014 23:26

All the best for tomorrow penguin and don't worry too much about being 'high risk'. My 'high risk' birth on Monday was actually far more relaxed and easy than my mlu birth 4 years ago. I only had a mw and student mw in the room and although I had to be monitored I was still able to move around as much as I wanted. I ended up giving birth on a birthing stool with DH sat right behind me. So there doesn't necessarily have to be that much difference. Wishing you all the best - keep us updated if you can!

Shanels · 12/12/2014 05:06

Hi everyone
I'm so sorry I've been away- I couldn't access this form on my phone and had some health issues but all fine now,

I'm 40+6 now and cervix closed so no successful sweeps. Seeing consultant tomorrow to discuss what's next. Starting to think natural labour is not on the cards for me.

Congratulations to you all who have delivered! And best of luck to all those like me waiting.

Shanels · 12/12/2014 05:07

Best of luck *penguin for today!

FranksBobot · 12/12/2014 08:13

Will be thinking of you today Penguin hope induction goes smoothly. You'll soon be having lots of lovely cuddles.
Basgetti time to try all the old wives tales on inducing labour?! I am slightly relieved that my ELCS is booked for before Xmas. Was there not talk of inducing you early? Or have I made that up?!! In my sleep deprived state anything is possible.

I had yet another night of minimal sleep, was actually in tears at 4am as I'm so exhausted. Have decided to go back to bed today as soon as I've dropped DD off at school. I just want one decent nights kip before baby arrives and I know that monday and Tuesday nights will be a write off with nerves so it needs to happen soon!!

Good luck with the consultant Shanels, hope they can come up with a plan for you.

Franks yes at one point they mentioned early induction when I was in and out of hospital, but not now. If I end up back on a drip next week (which is entirely possible the way I'm feeling) I might push the issue again. None of the old wives tales sound too appealing at the moment, they seem to involve either movement or food, neither of which I'm coping well with! Hope you manage to get some sleep soon x

CoventGarden75 · 12/12/2014 11:11

penguin good news the proteins were nothing to be concerned about, good luck for today, thinking of you and cheering from the sofa!

basgetti so sorry you're still struggling with nausea, how unfair Sad

thanks ftn, maybe i should call the mw and arrange another sweep Confused. Have you decided on a name yet?

tiny well done for keeping the swimming until the last day! hopefully we'll be back in the pool in a couple of months, i'm planning on introducing baby to swimming at a very early age Grin. My last dip was before the sweep on tuesday, (slightly shorter than my recent swims of 2.5km in 1h05, as DP was waiting but still a reasonable 2km in 50min).

the only exercise i've got left now is body pump, even DP, an advocate of keeping fit, started to think i'm a weirdo for going last night on edd. Personally i think being able to keep exercising has been a blessing and kept me sane, along with this forum.

franks looking after DD with no sleep, no idea how you're doing it, it comes a point where you're just too exhausted to even sleep, isn't it... a trick that worked for me at some point was repeating to myself in the middle of the night: i should NOT sleep, I should NOT sleep... zzzz. I hope you manage a nap today.

shanels good to hear from you, i was wondering where you were. Glad you're ok now, and keep us posted on your news.

i wish i was a kangaroo

TinyMonkey · 12/12/2014 17:39

Wow, that's some serious swimming Covent! Well done. I agree, it's kept me sane and I'm feeling really miserable about the recovery period from my section. I look like Jabba the Hutt and feel frail and blobby.

Shanels · 13/12/2014 04:10

Wow covent you are super woman! The only exercise I can do is walking/strolling/ waddling to the local shops. Very impressive and very healthy.
basgetti hope you are feeling better and get what you want- be assertive.
franks hope you've mabsged to catch up a little on your sleeep. My pregnancy insomnia is getting worse and worse.

Anyway, after a very stressful and draining day yesterday, I've been booked into a csection for Weds. I'm 41 weeks today and yesterday I had a very painful sweep and although my baby is very well positioned, my cervix is still unfavourable. There was a lot of talk of induction etc and then after much deliberation, I opted for an elective CS. Don't know if its the right decision....but couldn't cope with the idea of being induced at 42 weeks and then taken into a CS if cervix still closed.
Very exciting but anxious times.

Penguin13 · 13/12/2014 04:30

Very pleased to announce that Flora Elizabeth Penguin arrived yesterday morning around 8.30 Smile We are utterly besotted. It wasn't exactly the birth I had envisaged but we are both overjoyed that she arrived safely. Will post more when I feel less like I've been hit by a truck!

Good luck everyone x

Yay penguin Grin ! Congratulations on the safe arrival of baby Flora, what a lovely name. Wishing you a speedy recovery, sorry to hear the birth wasn't quite as straight forward as it might have been Flowers

basgetti · 13/12/2014 08:39

Congratulations Penguin, what a beautiful baby and name! Sorry to hear the birth wasn't ideal, I hope you are recovering well xx

basgetti · 13/12/2014 08:49

Sorry didn't see your post Shanel, good luck with your section, it's a hard decision but at least you know one way or another when your baby is coming now. You never know, you might get some progress before wednesday! Try to relax and rest as much as possible the next few days xx

CoventGarden75 · 13/12/2014 10:55

aww penguin congrats, what a cutie Smile, another member to the growing girls team.

shanels i'm sure you've made the right decision for your situation, it must good to have a date and know what to expect, and if things progress before then, you can still adjust your plans.

playing the waiting game here

CallingAllEngels · 13/12/2014 12:35

Congrats penguin ! She's beautiful!

Nothing to report here. 37+6.
Thoguh potty training has gone really well. 10 days in and now only using toilets, not potties. Still often 1 accident a day and haven't been out much with ds but he's doing great.

dh just been to discuss childcare plan with mil for labour. If we have to go in during th night mil will come and sleep here. If we go in during the day but are not back come evening, then ds will stay with them to sleep.

fx not expecting a long labour or overnight stay (last labour was 9am till 4pm and home at 7pm) but depends on timing and whether everything ends up as straightforward as last time.

Shanels · 14/12/2014 08:58

Wow- congratulations penguin!!! Gorgeous name too!

Thanks covent and basgetti for your reassuring words.

Happy Sunday everyone!

TinyMonkey · 14/12/2014 09:48

Congratulations Penguin! Welcome to the world beautiful Flora! Smile

FranksBobot · 14/12/2014 10:43

Congratulations Penguin flora is a little beauty Flowers

Shanels my ELCS is also booked for Wednesday! We can be section buddies Grin

I managed to sleep for 6 entire hours last night and I feel amazing for it, fingers crossed for a couple more nights like it before baby arrives.

Hope everyone is well. We have family coming to visit today but currently me and dd are sat in bed eating toast watching cartoons! DP is on housework duty haha.

Hey franksbobot that's really cool. How are you feeling about it? Have you packed big knickers or those special CS ones from Jojo Maman Bebes which allow air to get to the scar? Sx

FranksBobot · 14/12/2014 19:11

Just normal big granny pants for me! I'm actually quite calm about it all at the minute! Dd was an emergency section so think I'm only calm as at least it's expected this time. I also remember it not being as bad as I had imagined last time so taking comfort in that. I have my pre-op tomorrow and my DM arrives on Tuesday to look after dd whilst I'm in hospital so think nerves may kick in then.
Do you know how long you have to stay in for? All being well I'm allowed home Friday morning.
