Hello lovelies! Congratulations regular! We didn't get our Oscar in the end, we have a Theodora instead Smile so my gut feeling of a girl was spot on!

She arrived by ELCS, still breech, at 39 weeks on 2nd December. 8lbs 3oz, so all the doomy MASSIVE baby predictions from the growth scans for GD were wrong. She's utterly perfect and we are besotted.

The surgery went a bit peculiar from the off as the cannulas kept 'tissuing' they ended up having to go into 11 different sites in the end.
Unfortunately no one noticed that one wasn't working until I whispered that my heart felt 'fluttery'. Cue a bit of drama as my bp had crashed through the floor. They got another cannula in through my foot, but it was rather frightening how quickly the atmosphere changed from lighthearted routine to having to get things done 'ASAP'. Both K and I thought I was on my way out. Sadly I didn't get skin to skin as a result and could barely see Thea's face even as they'd bundled her up so well. K kept hold of her though whilst they tried to get me stable. I couldn't hold her due to all the cannula tubes sticking out of my arms and the oxygen mask.

Felt a bit distant when they dropped the screen and held up a baby, but the minute I heard her cry I was in floods of tears, I've never heard a more amazing sound. She had a great apgar score and breathed unassisted from the off. She is just amazing. Post natal ward was hell on earth and I had a massive meltdown when it looked like they might keep me in for a third night due to not having established feeding. Got sprung in the end and it's been great being home. We are having some tough nights though and I am shattered. She's doing well and only lost 5.5% of her birthweight. My c-section site is giving me a fair amount of pain, very frustrating and I so wish I could've had a natural birth.

Anyway, she's worth all of the above and more.

Good luck to everyone, looking forward to more birth stories. Now I must sleeeeeeeeep.

She's beautiful tiny ! Birth experience sounds scary but glad to hear you're home now. Hope you have a good sleep!

We are havign a lazy Sunday. Potty training is going well and chicken pox seems to be abating a bit - no new spots the last 24 hours and DS didn't wake up last night like he did the night before (itching and with a temperature).

Getting into the Christmas spirit with tree up last night. Feeling all cosy indoors especially since it's miserable and cold outside.

strawbs Christmas wrapping is on my list of jobs this week when DS is at nursery! The only years I've ever been this organised have been this year and the year DS was born (October).

basgetti · 07/12/2014 14:27

Congratulations Tiny, she is beautiful! Hope you are recovering well x

My contractions stopped, think it was just a false start, they did say baby turning could have irritated everything. She has been on the move again though and I'm not sure she is head down anymore! Seeing MW on Tues, hopefully she can tell position otherwise it's back to the hospital. Wondering if they were a bit quick to cancel the section especially as she'd only turned the day before and not in an established position. Was told by the doctor that I still need to dash to hospital for re scan if labour starts due to her unstable lie, feeling a bit in limbo now. Should have been having her on Thursday but now haven't got a clue what will happen!

Glad your DS is doing a bit better Calling, chickenpox is the last thing you need! My DS was off school all last week with a bug, I secretly quite enjoyed having some cosy alone time with him before the new one comes along!

38 weeks exactly today, so shouldn't really be moaning as I'm still quite early but having had a set date it's now a bit frustrating! Hope everyone else is doing well xx

CoventGarden75 · 07/12/2014 15:11

congratulations tiny she is absolutely gorgeous Smile, but what a birth story, i hope your scar heals quickly.

strabws same here, still can't believe we'll have a baby soon. I washed some baby clothes yesterday about time, and i can't stop looking at them, trying to make sense of it all! it's been an unattainable dream for so long, and now it's a few days/weeks away Shock. I didn't get my m&m's though, oh well, i can't have everything Grin

basgetti sorry to hear you're feeling in limbo again. Fx you get some good news about her position.

ftn, penguin any development? baby is obviously very cosy where he/she is Smile but surely we can't have a weekend without a new baby on the thread?

39+3

Penguin13 · 07/12/2014 16:34

Congratulations Tiny!!! Theodora is utterly adorable. So sorry you didn't have a great birth experience, that sounds quite scary, but very glad that you are both safe and as well as can be expected. Wishing you a very speedy recovery.

Strawbs it does still seem surreal to think we will be holding our gorgeous babies so soon! Neither DH or I have any experience when it comes to babies so you're a big step ahead of us!!

Next sweep is Thurs for me although very much crossing my fingers that something happens before then. If that doesn't work then I'll be induced by the 15th so at least I know that max one week from now we will meet our baby Smile

Glad that DS is on the mend Engels. Have been getting into the Christmas spirit too - the tree is up and I made some gingerbread yesterday.

Sorry you're in limbo again Basgetti. Hope you get some positive news from the midwife on Tues. Whatever happens it won't be long now so hang in there.

Oh my days Tiny what an absolute beauty little Theodora is! Congratulations!!!! Sorry to hear the birth wasn't great but just remember it's all over and now you have your beautiful little girl.

basgetti fingers crossed baby stays head down and will soon be in your arms having some very well deserved cuddles.

Penguin that gingerbread looks amazing! Please send some my way.

Congratulations Tiny on the birth of your beautiful girl. Sorry to hear the birth was a bit traumatic but I'll bet none of it matters much now!

Apologies for the self indulgent post to follow but our baby boy was born at 1:30am yesterday Smile

I went in on Sunday for my daily monitoring and after a 5th sweep and talking to a midwife and registrar decided to go for induction. Turned out they could fit me in straight away! Had tbe pessary at 1pm and was told they will break my waters in 24 hours to start contractions. As it turned out they started on their own about 11:30pm very strong and very close together. Initially I was told it was just normal pain from the pessary working and given paracetamol - 10 minutes later I was begging for something stronger so midwife examined me and rushed me to delivery agreeing they were contractions after all! Baby was born 2 hours later weighing 9lb 13oz! Tens machine was great and gas n air really took the edge off!
We're home now and waiting for midwife visit. DHs birthday today too!

Looking forward to lots more thread babies. I'm not leaving until they're all out!

Penguin13 · 09/12/2014 12:30

Aw congratulations Mrs on your lovely new baby boy! Sounds like a pretty speedy entry into the world. What a good weight too Smile Enjoy your lovely newborn snuggles.

CoventGarden75 · 09/12/2014 13:35

Yay congrats ftn and a huge welcome to your baby boy.

I've just had a sweep

StrawbsAndCream · 09/12/2014 16:03

Congratulations Tiny Theodora is gorgeous! Glad you're home and settled, hope you've managed some decent sleep! (I still can't believe we're at the giving birth stage!)

Congratulations Mrs on your baby boy, sounds like a great birth and very speedy! What an amazing present for your DH, hope you're enjoying your day at home!

Basgetti how did the midwife go today? Is baby still head down? Hope you have more of an idea of the plan now. These little monkeys don't half make us worry!

Calling I'm glad your DS is on the mend and you avoided fresh pox with a newborn. Good luck with your Christmas wrapping!

Penguin I would murder those gingerbread biscuits! Fancy posting some down to South Wales? Grin
Hopefully something happens before the 15th but atleast you have the end in sight, I bet your next sweep on thurs will get you going! Fingers crossed.

Covent how was the sweep?! Was your cervix favourable? Hope it wasn't too uncomfy.

I had my 3rd sweep yesterday done by the midwife, this one didn't hurt whatsoever compared to my others done by my consultant (probably because a woman has a bit more sympathy for our nether regions!) nothing much happened though apart from more show and lots of braxtons, she said she was touching baby's head though! Induction booked for 5pm tomorrow, have to ring about 3pm to check the bed is still free, fingers crossed it will be. Just making sure I have all washing done, sparkly house, fresh bed etc! Even writing the first part of my Christmas cards..I'll never be this organised ever again Smile

basgetti · 09/12/2014 16:58

Congratulations MrsFtn, what a good size! Hope you are recovering well!

Hope you get some action from your sweep Covent and it wasn't too uncomfortable.

Strawbs I got the day wrong, it's tomorrow pm after DS' nativity that I'm seeing MW. Don't know whether I'm coming or going at the moment! My bump seems to change shape on an hourly basis, but feeling quite a lot of pressure down below so hoping that means her head still there! Wow good luck with your induction, hope all goes well! x

CoventGarden75 · 09/12/2014 21:33

g'd evening,

haaa, strawbs good luck for induction tomorrow! and basgetti with the mw.

sweep was fine, not pleasant to have someone's hand down there but compare to some part of treatment i've been through cervix pinching and pulling, it still hurts just typing it that was nothing. Cervix is soft, open on mw's side but not on baby's side. I went for my swim this morning just in case i lose the plug before my usual session tomorrow Grin

anyone else still in denial? i can't imagine going through labour at all, 2 days before due date Confused.

ps: i got some m&ms today Grin

CallingAllEngels · 10/12/2014 08:06

Congratulations mrsftn ! Lovely news.

Good luck today stawbs !

I have mw today as well basgetti and also feel like bump keeps shifting around. Was very uncomfortable yesterday. Hope baby hasn't turned.

I'm kind of in denial covent and after feeling like baby would come early, now am convinced I will go way overdue meaning will still be pg at Christmas and my parents will miss baby and have to come back again later in January!

I reckon I'll be the last on the thread - due 28/12 - or is anyone else later than me?

Potty training is going really well - he's usually having 1 or 2 accidents a day mostly when he doesn't quite get to toilet or potty on time, but has also had 2 accident free days. Just need to keep the momentum going and buy a waterproof mattress protector as he's starting to protest at wearing pull ups at night

Penguin13 · 10/12/2014 14:09

Good luck today Strawbs! Keeping my fingers crossed that they'll have a bed for you and everything goes smoothly. Soon you will have your gorgeous baby in your arms!!!

basgetti · 10/12/2014 17:34

Hope all is going well Strawbs.

How did MW go Calling?

Baby's head is down, but not engaged yet so still sort of free floating hence the shape shifting, she said it's not uncommon for second baby not to engage until labour. Also with second baby I won't be offered a sweep til 41 weeks. I can see me going beyond xmas at this rate...!

CallingAllEngels · 10/12/2014 18:41

Snap basgetti !

Head down but not engaged (dc2).

am so sleepy today.

StrawbsAndCream · 10/12/2014 22:49

Thanks very much all! Just a quick one from me..I'm all alone on a ward of my own having a read of my book before I get some sleep. DH and DM just gone home..Had the 'thing' put in about 8.30pm (it looks like a tiny tea bag with a really long tampon string that dangles down!) was about 1-2cm before she put it in and she could feel baby's head. Hopefully will start something but I think they leave it in 24hrs! Am having regular tightenings on the monitor and the midwife was surprised I wasn't feeling anything with them, have been a bit more uncomfy in my back since the tea bag went in but we'll see.

Good news on your sweep covent hope you managed a swim before any plug loss! I think I'm still in denial too haha, I can hear babies crying on the ward though!

Glad babies heads are still down basgetti and calling!

Will update you on any progress if I can, hope everyone's doing well x

MrsFtn · 11/12/2014 00:16

Thinking of you Strawbs hope you have a baby in your arms already Flowers

FranksBobot · 11/12/2014 01:03

Wow what a weight! Congratulations MrsFTN Flowers

Good luck Strawbs fingers crossed you'll be holding your little bundle by now.

I can't bloody sleep Sad Got a million and one things floating around in my head. So much to get done before I go in for my ELCS next weds but no energy to do it!! Been having a lot of pre-labour type signs which I'm hoping is just coincidence as really not prepared! Dd was 2 weeks late so hoping its nothing. Seeing midwife for my 38 wk app tomorrow and that's it then next time I see her I'll have a baby! Xmas Shock

Thinking of you strawbs

franks I'm the same....so many things to get
sorted round the house but can't be arsed to do anything.

StrawbsAndCream · 11/12/2014 09:02

Thanks guys, nothing happening yet! :-( won't know anymore until tonight when the tea bag is taken out and I'm assessed. Just on monitor now, still having regular tightenings but no pain with them! Had a rubbish night sleep so still quite tired, there was a one day old baby in the breakfast room, so cute!

Hope you managed some sleep franks won't be long now!

Penguin13 · 11/12/2014 09:46

Come on baby Strawbs! Must be so frustrating for you. Really hope things ramp up soon. Can you try to nap a little today? Difficult on a ward I know. I have a feeling you will be needing your strength soon Smile

I might finally be having some vaguely positive signs - last night from 11.30 through till this morning have had period type cramps - I know it can take literally days for things to progress from there but I am just so happy that SOMETHING appears to be going on after days of nothing. Hopefully means I will be more favourable for my 2nd sweep this morning.

Aw Franks sorry you're stressing. Everything seems worse when you're sleepless in the middle of the night so hope you feel a bit better this morning but I am sure you are more organised than you think x

Penguin13 · 11/12/2014 15:33

Bit of an eventful day here. My routine wee sample at the midwife was +2 for protein and my ankles were looking especially swollen so even though my BP is normal got sent straight to hospital for pre-eclampsia tests and monitoring. Waiting on the results of a blood test. If the result is of concern they will induce today otherwise I can wait another day or so. Baby F seems happy enough and they seemed to think it was unlikely that I have PE but better safe than sorry. Had a sweep done at the hospital by a consultant instead of mw and they were gung Ho to say the least but it has def ramped things up a notch so watch this space!

Sorry for the mememe post, I have been thinking of you Strawbs! Hope everyone else is doing well too xxx

CoventGarden75 · 11/12/2014 16:06

thinking of you strawbs

penguin you're in safe hands. I had protein in sample on tuesday but no swelling and still low BP, mw said it can be a sign of UTI. I'm still waiting to hear the results from the lab.

fx all the babies are still working on their headstands.

franks all my sympathy on the insomnia, yesterday was a total write off because of it (wide awake from 2 to 6am...again and again and again)

it's my edd today, but nothing is happening really, apart maybe a bit of plug that came out earlier today, not sure but to be safe it's bye bye to swimming [cry]

ladies with repeat sweeps: can i ask how far apart the sweeps were?

good luck everyone x

basgetti · 11/12/2014 16:21

I hope you get some action soon Penguin, you must be utterly fed up now! Fingers crossed the blood results are okay.

Shame about the swimming Covent but hopefully it's the start of things for you too.

I've just sat through my second nativity of the week, now lying on the sofa trying to stay awake, I'm also struggling to sleep, and my nausea and retching terrible. The idea that I might still be pregnant at xmas is really depressing! x
