Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 10th grads thread...celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed Grin

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

There is a stats thread here but its a zombie thread so enter at your own risk....... eeeeek

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 26th outing!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal here once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a secret facebook group, if you want to join, Pm me!

So, roll call below please, viroids! Smile

What is it with everyone's mums trying to scare them? My mum keeps repeating how thin she was whilst pregnant Angry . How very bloody lovely for you.

cookielove · 03/08/2014 20:15

Awww my mum has been lovely (sorry) she keeps telling me I look like I have lost weight (obviously not at the bump bit) but I look thinner from behind. Whenever she comes over, she really spoils me, wouldn't let me do the washing up and makes me sit down!

Some mums are lovely!!

Aw pis, your DS is very sweet, that's lovely.

Bah to the unsupportive mummies. Ignore them all, get baby well positioned and do the breathing!

And, keep eating ice cream, got the rest of our lives to worry about our figures (though I am missing my old face a bit, I have to say![ Wink)

RPopz · 03/08/2014 20:33

My mum hasn't got the scare tactics out yet. Her wisdom so far is that it's definitely a girl and that my bump is "massive already" (it isn't) and so I'm going to be "HUGE!" Lol. We're not particularly close tbh but she has mostly been very sweet so far Smile

JuniDD · 03/08/2014 21:46

This is my thread. Some of it might be a bit scary but it was positive reading for me. Smile

Right, I AM going to bed at a decent time tonight. Sweet dreams all!

Pisghetti · 04/08/2014 08:55

Morning viroids. Got an express delivery of symptoms today. Lost breakfast, about to lose coffee and been trying to work out where that poo-ey smell is coming from. I'm going to have a second go at breakfast.

Hope you're having better Monday mornings!

Going to check out that thread now.... My mam is a doll but she doesn't know yet.

Nessalina · 04/08/2014 09:39

Sounds like super fun Pis! Confused How did second breakfast go down?

Good thread Juni, think you got some good advice there! Your poor mum sounds like she had a rotten time Sad

I'm pretty sure the 'like mother like daughter' birth thing is mostly chance - there's only so many ways a birth can go, and statistics say that some of them are bound to line up! I guess if you're physically similar there's more chance, but as your thread says, back in the 70s and 80s midwifery was very different and they wouldn't have been able to know for sure about baby's position, or if there was placenta previa - you even got the odd surprise twin in those days! So some of the nightmare births would certainly have been ELCS these days.

I'd love my mum's births - 9 hours from surprise waters (at home a week early) to birth! Doubt I'll get them though.

Getting very worried at how unfit generally I am... I never exercise, my stomach muscles are flabby & non existent, and my legs are weedy. I'm about a stone overweight usually. Cursing myself for not getting fit before TTC, though I know I never would have!

wilmabedrock · 04/08/2014 10:45

Aw ness don't feel down on yourself. Pregnancy is the worst time to be worrying about this kind of stuff. I found breastfeeding really made weight drop off and you'll no doubt spend lots of time walking when the baby arrives. If you eat generally healthily at the moment and do a bit of walking and stuff, that's probably as much as you can do. I am going to make an effort after this baby as I'm probably about a stone heavier than I was last time. We can have a post-natal fit club! Grin

Had the shortest ever midwife appointment. She's quite nice but I do feel like she is just ticking things off on a sheet. No hb listen Sad but I am measuring correctly so I guess that's ok. Although she said I'm pretty wide Envy so reckons I'm having a "big strong boy"....

Nessalina · 04/08/2014 10:51

Sounds like a good idea Wil! I'm
Definitely counting on BFing helping fight the flab. What I'll need to NOT do is indulge in all the food I've been missing out on the previous nine months Grin Brie & pate sandwiches anyone?

Nessalina · 04/08/2014 10:58

Re: midwives, one of my pals has used a very good one-to-one midwife service that's available in our area. I'd seen it advertised at a baby event but assumed it came at a price, but apparently it's free through the NHS! She has one lady that comes to her house on an evening, so her DH can be there, and she said it's been great because it's her agenda rather than a form filling exercise. She's now planning a home birth because said midwife will also be at that, and she feels like she'd prefer it to having someone new at hospital.

Obviously I can't be arsed now I'm six months in to switch, but I'd give it a go next time, and I thought it might be of interest to those of you who are still in the early days - website is here

ZylaB · 04/08/2014 11:00

I'm so having Brie and pate sandwiches straight after!

Pisghetti · 04/08/2014 12:04

What Wil said Ness. Pregnancy and motherhood gives you enough opportunities for guilt tripping as it is! Breastfeeding is the calorific equivalent of a daily 5 mile run. Probably a little wriggle room of the occasional brie and pate sandwich ( Envy sick feeling at thought - I hate brie).

It was mother's day soon after I had DS and his dad got me some 'soft cheese because I couldn't eat it while pregnant'. It was Philadelphia. I didn't have the heart to tell him that wasn't the type of soft cheese they meant as it was a nice gesture. Plus I bloody love full fat Philadelphia!

wilmabedrock · 04/08/2014 12:42

Haha pis that's so sweet!

That service looks good ness, seems to just be in north-west though? I don't even think we have these MLUs that you bunch keep referring to. Unless you're in Glasgow or Edinburgh, you don't really have a choice of hospital here. And even if you're in the city you just get to state a preference and if they're too busy when you're in labour, tough luck. We do have the same midwife for all ante-natal care except scans though. But when you get to hospital, you just get whoever is on shift and then different ones again for post-natal care.

I asked if I could see my notes from my birth last time and she said I would have to phone the medical records department and probably pay a fee. Does anyone know if this is the norm?

Nessalina · 04/08/2014 12:48

Aww, good effort though Pis! Grin

Wil - we're in Leeds (which is very North East), apparently they're expanding all the time, you have to call to find out if they have someone in your area I think! MLU's are dotted about all over I think, but not sure where there is one local to me...

Nessalina · 04/08/2014 12:50

Oh, and I thought you had a right to a post-birth debrief with your midwife rather than paying for notes (which you may not be able to read or understand!), but not sure where I heard that!

JuniDD · 04/08/2014 13:11

You do have to pay for your notes - on mine it says "these remain the property of the hospital and must be returned to your midwife". I think that's a bit off tbh so might do some photocopying if there's anything I want to keep in future!

Post birth debrief is free but I guess they keep ahold of your notes.

I am looking forward to some nice oozy goats cheese and hopefully enjoying a cup of tea again!

Oh yes, wil, I found the 16 week and the 28 week midwife appointments (just gone) very perfunctory. Lucky for me I didn't have any problems but possibly not great for someone who does have problems but is not assertive Sad.

Mini-Juni is very active today, I wish I knew what it was that made the difference so I could replicate it on quiet days!

wilmabedrock · 04/08/2014 13:36

Bollocks hate when you've typed up half a post and then lose it.

Maybe some days they just have more energy Juni? I used to do lots of prodding when baby was big enough to be annoyed by it Grin . Always squirmed out of the way.

I did get a debrief from consultant but was in such a haze that I don't remember it. I really just want to know what happened and try to figure out how things could go differently if I was in a similar situation again.

Ah I saw it said Leeds on the website Ness, I'm just being a bit thick. I used to live in the North West so I have no excuse.

I tried to tell Mini-Wil I had a baby in my tummy today. Totally over her head. She just turned away and started mumbling about Peppa Pig.

Pisghetti · 04/08/2014 14:16

Hehe Wil maybe explain in Peppa Pig terms - she's going to be a big sister like Peppa is to George (is it George? DS only really caught the start of PP. I'm glad it's still around!)

I've had enough of work today. No-one seems to be replying to their emails/IMs and I really can't be arsed to actually go and talk to them! I'm quite looking forward to 'coming out' on the 12 week mark so I can be unreasonably grumpy and my colleagues will let me get away with it instead of just thinking I'm a miserable cow.

RPopz · 04/08/2014 18:01

Hope you're feeling better Pis I do find it hilarious that smelling shit everywhere is an actual symptom not just unique to me!! Wink

16 week check up already Wil??? Where is the time going! Gutted about the hb tho Sad xx

wilmabedrock · 04/08/2014 19:11

I know, thankfully time seems to have sped up a little since the scan. Talking of which you must have your 20 week one soon no?

wilmabedrock · 04/08/2014 19:14

Oh and you say you're glad Peppa is still around pis, but you won't be after you've seen every episode a million times. Not that any child of mine watches tv obviously Hmm .

RPopz · 04/08/2014 19:32

20 week scan is a week on Friday. Weird how quick this one's come around after wishing my life away so hard for the first 12 weeks...

cookielove · 04/08/2014 20:09

Ok I am an idiot, did my sugar check earlier and used a tissue to wipe away the excess blood, I usually just lick it off! Had the tissue in my hand and went to the loo, wiped myself with said tissue and then had a mini panic that i was bleeding and had gone into labour Blush took a minute for me to realise I am a twat!

rpopz omg 20 weeks already, where did the time go!!
