Hi,

Tentative post here - got 2 faint BFPs on Sun/Mon (period only due yesterday.
EDD seems to be between Feb 28 - March 1st depending on whether I use standard 28 day cycle or adjust to my 30 day one.
DC2 for me - DS was 8 days late so think I'm more likely to belong in the March club than Feb.

Will do another test in a couple of days to get the elusive dark line so I don't think I'm making it up

Hope someone else joins me soon.

smoke- I must be hopelessly out of touch with my body.Blush

When I was pregnant with my first I had no idea at all. Looking back I had bought a lovely new skirt for work when I must have been 4 weeks pregnanat. It fitted perfectly except was a little too big aroond the waist, but was a wrap around with a button fastening. I knew by adjusting the button by two or three inches I could tighten up the waistband.

I put the skirt in my wardrobe and didn't get around to doing the adjustment for a while ( by then I must have been 10 weeks pregnant)

I tried on the skirt to make the final measurements and found that the skirt was now too tight. Instead of moving the button 3 inches inwards I had to move it out to make the waistband bigger.
I still didn't cotton on.
At 13 weeks my OH and I were having a hug in the kitchen, and he sprung back saying he could fell a "presence" in my belly. He knew instantly that I was pregnant.

I still couldn't feel anything, but bought a test the next day. Sure enough it came back positive.

I must have no intuition!!

teaandbiscuitsforme · 21/07/2014 08:49

fergie Hope your scan goes well and you get to hear the heartbeat!

tannylou Congrats on the heartbeat and dates, must be such a relief! I had a MMC in April so want the reassurance of a heartbeat, worried my body doesn't recognise MC! Not sure how you coped with just one scan previously!

smoke Trans scan is actually fine, a bit uncomfortable but not painful. Although I did have one of mine with a trainee sonographer, that hurt!! I'm sure you won't need one at 8 weeks though!

KeeperOfTheZoo · 21/07/2014 09:02

Morning all! Hope everyone's feeling ok and suitably pregnant this morning! Smile

I don't feel too bad today - I don't feel like I could eat anything but I don't actually feel sick. Just kind of "permanently full" iykwim?? And I keep feeling a weird fluttering sensation in my belly but I remember that from last time so trying not to get quite so freaked out by it this time round.

5 weeks today by my calculations.... Smile

Rainbow555 · 21/07/2014 09:03

Been out of contact at a work conference in Australia last few days, to those that gave advice before I went - I got away with no sickness, flights all good lots of snacking no one noticed not drinking, or at least didn't say anything! So it went well except for extreme tiredness!!

Got doc appt tomo with blood results fx it is still positive!

Hi perpetualstudent I lurked on a ttc thread u were on, good to see you!
Hi misty too!

ApplebyMennym · 21/07/2014 09:03

smokeandglitter my sonographer said to me "have you had a smear test before?” and I instantly tensed up because I find smears really uncomfortable. " Yeessss..." I said. "Well, it's nowhere near as bad as that" and it wasn't. No pain at all, just felt a bit odd.
Dh referred to it as both "dildo cam" and "vag cam" because he's delightful like that.

I wish I knew one way or another what is going on with me! This time next week I will be at the EPAU waiting to be scanned. I feel pretty pregnant at the moment it must be said. Sick, tired. HATING this heat, especially at night.

northdownmummy does your name refer to the area you're in? If so, we could be neighbours!

northdownmummy · 21/07/2014 09:11

Yes , I'm living in bangor, where are you?

Dinnerfor1 · 21/07/2014 09:31

Morning all! Dd slept until 7.20 which is a rare lie-in for us. It means I was feeling somewhat rested this morning, but I'm feeling exhausted again already. I'm sofa bound while dd watches cbeebies. Bad mum.

I think I realised fairly early on I was pregnant. My dh was in denial though, even when I was showing him faint lines on tests. I had to do a cb digi for him to really believe it!

I haven't been to the doctors or contacted a midwife yet. I've moved to a new area and not sure how it all works here!

smokeandglitter · 21/07/2014 09:33

Thanks appleby and teaandbiscuits! That's a relief to know in case it is earlier than 7/8 weeks.

combust bless you, I don't think you're not intuitive, maybe your symptoms just weren't so obvious. I spend a lot of time analysing my body (which isn't always great with a history of ED) so I probably just notice minor changes stupidly early. I did go up a cupsize in a matter of the first few weeks though and usually have very small boobs so that's a major sign for me!

M27J5M · 21/07/2014 09:42

Smoke- don't worry trans scans aren't that bad, not the most pleasant thing but not too bad at all! Ive had 2, unfortunately both times found out I'd mc and was so relieved when I didn't have to get 1 with my ds just cos it makes me think of 1st 2

m33r · 21/07/2014 09:43

I had an incline i was pg but nothing as lovely as 'intuition'. I had an upset stomach and I'm normally 'regular'.

Had AF cramps yesterday and no nausea. Today I have no nausea and STILL have wet feeling. If I didn't have work I may have just opted to spend the whole day in the loo on knicker watch...!

persepolis123 · 21/07/2014 10:07

I had no idea I was pregnant this time. I had quite a lot of clear discharge and it had been five weeks since I miscarried so I thought I would take a test. It was quite a shock when it came up positive.

Last time I had absolutely loads of symptoms from a few days after conception and I knew I was pregnant long before AF was even due.

With DS I didn't really know what symptoms to look out for but the first sign was extreme tiredness. I'm permanently tired now with working full time and having a toddler so that wouldn't flag up as a symptom any more.

I looked in my diary this morning and saw I had marked tomorrow down as when I should have been twelve weeks. Feel a bit sad about it but being pregnant again so soon does make it a bit better.

tannylou congrats on your scan and seeing the heartbeat.

I'm envious of all you lot having appointments and scans already. Just want to make it through to the weekend and I will try to arrange either an NHS scan through the midwife or book a private one.

Butterpuff · 21/07/2014 10:11

Morning everyone.

Busy weekend loads of news, I'm struggling to catch up.

I'm feeling quite cheerful today, (despite throwing up my breakfast) had doc's appointment which was shorter than I expected and she put my due date at 28th Feb....though I'm convinced its March so I'm staying [Grin] she also gave me some anti-sickness tablets so I'm excited to see if they work.

Also booked my first midwife appointment for Thursday, I'll be 8+6 and hoping a scan will come soon after. All those bits of paper to read and booklets to carry about, finally its starting to feel a bit real.

oliveobsessed · 21/07/2014 10:11

Please will someone experienced tell me the exhaustion goes think I am 7+1 and have had to pull a sickie at work as was physically too exhausted to drive to work. Do not now how the mummy's to toddlers are coping

persepolis123 · 21/07/2014 10:18

olive from memory the tiredness eased going into the second trimester then returned again in the third.

Welcome to all the newbies. There are loads of us now Grin

Charlootle · 21/07/2014 10:29

Hello all,

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks but thought I'd say hello. I'm 8+5 today, due date is Feb 25th but I'm on this thread if you don't mind ;) seems comfortable as my DS was born in March '08!

Been feeling rubbish from the start but nausea was worst in weeks 6-7 when I had to take time off work. Was meant to be at work today but just too rough, think trouble sleeping in the heat is exacerbating things. Luckily I work part time (2 days) and am off from Wednesday for a week.

Had an early scan at the fetal medicine centre in London at 7+6 which showed normal looking fetus right size for dates with heartbeat. However it also showed a small haematoma (biggest measurement 1.5cm) which was really worrying although the consultant who scanned me wasn't bothered. There are some scary things online about subchorionic haematoma but most studies seem to say if it's small and asymptomatic then the risks aren't raised. I haven't bled but am very paranoid! One thing I would say about early scans is that if there is something worrying it can almost make you feel worse, even if the positive signs outweigh the bad, something clinically insignificant can get blown up in your mind. And it's possible that at a later scan the haematoma would have gone and I'd never have known (or worried!) Just worth bearing in mind when booking an early scan.

Sorry for the essay! Feeling a bit low as anxious about the haematoma, feeling physically rubbish and am a single mum, so managing DS has been a bit hard as he also has ADHD. DP (not DS's dad) is supportive but lives quite far and works nights so isn't able to offer any practical help. My mum also lives elsewhere and alternates between being helpful (she's visited twice in the last few weeks which has been great) and being unsympathetic (for example just now ringing me and saying she is having a NIGHTMARE with bedding and asking me to gather a certain number of sheets for our holiday in a few days when we have just spoken and I've told her I'm unwell and off work - SEND IT IN A TEXT, I will never remember the specific quantity of sheets you require.)

On a cheerier note my best friend is coming round in half an hour so hopefully she'll stop me being such a miserable cow!

ApplebyMennym · 21/07/2014 10:38

olive I am lucky to have a toddler who loves his nap time (probably because he in in perpetual motion the rest of the time) and a husband who will bodily move me to bed if he feels I need it!

northdownmummy ah, different Northdown! I am in Kent.

Our lovely next door neighbours have just had their first baby - he is BEAUTIFUL and dh and I go all squishy when we hear that unmistakable newborn cry!

Rainbow555 · 21/07/2014 11:01

Having read back was thinking about the 'bumps', surely they are not bumps as such yet?? I too feel massive and if I relax and let it all go my belly goes massive!! Could it just be lots of bloating??
What do people think?

NotAQueef · 21/07/2014 11:23

butterpuff same here re due date.
well I have been vomiting every hour or so since 2am not sure if it's a bug, morning sickness or a gastritis flare up. doc prescribed me some omeprazole *for gastritis but just threw it up.
Have managed to burst the blood vessels around my eye socket so sporting very fetching purple pinpricksHmm
hope everyone else is ok eats how is your sickness?

FoscarC · 21/07/2014 11:42

Good morning everyone.

All good here. Tired and can't be bothered with work. For some reason I just want to cry. Very odd as I'm normally very upbeat. And I have everything I could ever wish for so crying seems an odd choice. But hey ho. I bawled my eyes out over how I met your mother on the weekend.

rainbow I agree. I think it's all bloating. I am actually losing weight but look HUGE! So it must all be air. And to be frank the amount of air I'm expelling would back up that argument.

ZebraZeebra · 21/07/2014 11:43

Olive from what I remember the first trimester is the worst in terms of the little bean taking everything from you to start forming - its at its busiest in the first three months, hence the overwhelming exhaustion. 2nd trimester, there's usually a surge of progesterone - hence the "blooming", you usually feel kick ass, feel really energetic even though you're getting bigger. I was huge by my third trimester but it was only lugging the bump around that made me tired, not this bone-tired feeling of the first trimester.

I would however strongly encourage you all to invest in a Snoogle or a pregnancy pillow of some description. This sleep position is the ONLY position you'll be able to sleep in.

Feel absolutely shocking :(

That pillow looks nice ZebraZeebra sorry to hear you're feeling awful :( I just feel nauseous 24/7 but I really feel for those vomiting as well or feeling really close to it. I hope you feel better soon.

Trondheim · 21/07/2014 12:08

Glad everyone's feeling similarly excellent.

All I can eat / drink is watered down (milked down?) angel delight. I am gross.

woodlandwanderwoman · 21/07/2014 12:10

Morning All, sympathies here for everyone feeling so awful and welcome to more newbies.

I have been in bed all morning, unbearably tired, I can't do anything at all and am permanently sick. The only thing I want to eat is biscuits!! Thankfully DS is at nursery today so I have cancelled everything and am just resting today, is forgotten how awful this trimester can be.

On the positive, we had an early scan privately on Saturday which confirmed that baby woodland is healthy and strong with a good little heartbeat and measuring as expected, making me 8w tomorrow. That was a huge relief. A tip for those who want to avoid and internal scan around this stage, go with a full bladder.

Echo the notes earlier that sometimes these things can be more worrying than reassuring, but I know the nature of pregnancy is that there are so many unknowns.

Good luck everyone and hope you all make it through the day one day at a time xx

woodlandwanderwoman · 21/07/2014 12:12

*through the first trimester one day at a time!

charlieis30 · 21/07/2014 12:23

Hi everyone
Booked early pregnancy scan at Fetal Medicine in London 10 days from now. So scary! Will be 8wks so hopefully will measure the right size and has a heartbeat by then. Anyone have experience with FMC?
