Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Elibean · 05/09/2006 16:53

Probably because you knew you had to come home
Yup, my brother's wedding was a lot like that. Amazingly sylish and laid back at the same time - no idea how they achieved that!

WB...much harder being self employed. Hope the plan works, and at least you have one!

castlesintheair · 05/09/2006 17:08

Yes, that got me too about Steve Irwin.

Really sympathise with you DG about wanting to be a SAHM and any others that feel that way. I am very lucky to have the choice but I'm not sure I look after my DCs very well! I've spent most of the afternoon on the internet my excuse being that DS fell over this morning and went a bit wobbly so have stayed at home to "observe" him.

Gloria42 · 05/09/2006 17:10

Thanks Weirdbird, kindof puts it in perspective. A rotten Maternity package is better than no package at all!

accessorizequeen · 05/09/2006 17:33

I feel v.grateful for the excellent maternity package I have now, that all sounds very stressful. I hope it works out, completely depends on the birth & the baby I guess. Can't believe you're only scheduling 3 days off jabber before section!
I'm not in 3rd trimester am I, only 25 weeks, surely not responsible for getting completely weepy over a WEBSITE ffs (that's the project I'm doing). I am in denial over pg, I think, keep saying no it's cos I've been sick, nothing to do with pg.came home a bitg early (on bike again, neighbours v.impressed that I am riding one at my stage, obviously think I'm too enormous & will fall off). However, bump clearly not that huge as at meeting today my announcement of forthcoming maternity leave was greeted with great surprise!
Large norks obstructing view of bump, much less feet .

accessorizequeen · 05/09/2006 17:35

I always have to post twice, don't I?
Meant to say thank you for all the supportive comments, I'm always coming on here whingeing & I always feeled cheered up afterwards!

jabberwocky · 05/09/2006 20:02

Oh, my, I hadn't noticed that I couldn't see my feet anymore until I read everyone's posts. Had to get up and check

For all of you independents like me, it can be done as far as going back early part-time. I went in on an emergency-type call a Saturday 4 weeks after my section with ds. It really wasn't too bad except that I had to give him a bottle earlier than planned which caused some issues, but that's another story...
Then I took another full week off and went back 3 days a week after that. Not my dream scenario but it did work.

bubblylion · 05/09/2006 20:10

I completely empahisise with you AQ, I'm in a similar position. I have project to finish by 10 Oct, but never going to have it done in time with my other workload. I've been getting really stressed out at work and worried about the effect it will have on bean. The other day I left work in floods of tears, I felt totally pathetic, but colleagues were really supportive, I usually cope well with stress. I'm planning to start maternity leave at the end of Oct and plan to ask for an extension on project, so I can devote all my time to it in early Nov. This pregnancy lark is hard going at times, I agree. Hope your able to sort your dilemma out, but don't push yourself too hard

lucy5 · 05/09/2006 20:15

Hi I am an emotional nightmare too. I cried at Xfactor and Eastenders last week. I burst out crying in the street today because I saw a baby with Downs syndrome. No offence meant to people with children with downs, I'm a bit obsessed by kids with disabilities at the moment. I hope I haven't offended anyone. I remember going through the same phase with dd.

jabberwocky · 05/09/2006 20:50

Is anyone else sweating profusely at times? It seems to come and go, mainly at the office!

spinamum · 05/09/2006 21:09

"glowing" nicely here too!

I'm planning to start my Mat leave on 7th Dec(i'll be 37.5wks I think(!!!!![confused embarassed emoticon})The first two weeks will be holiday and my actual Mat leave starts on my due date!!!!! Due to awful mat pay here too. Having said that, I'm still talking Bean into appearing on the 11th of December.

I'm going mad on ebay(It's soooooo addictive!) Baby bits and bobs!Pg brain hasn't worked out that 10 things at £1.99 is still 20 quid and I keep forgetting to add p+p so I think I'm getting a bargain then notice I'm prob saving £1.50 on shop prices and the stuff I'm buying is second hand. Haven't won any bids yet This ebay virgin will get V excited when she does!

spinamum · 05/09/2006 21:12

(I too must post twice)
my fav "game" at mo is too stand with my DS1 in front of me and push my bump out and he just disappears under it!!!!

Sorry very sad, but it's amusing me. See my bump must be the biggest if I can hide a three yr old under it!!!!

lucy5 · 05/09/2006 21:14

Hehehehe Spina!

jabberwocky · 05/09/2006 21:15

I have been very proud of myself for holding back on buying baby things. Of course, we have most of what we need from ds - but I know I'll go a bit crazy about it towards the end. I did buy some fabric today on ebay for nursery curtains, though. Afraid it might trigger a shopping spree.

lucy5 · 05/09/2006 21:15

Ok, I'll post twice too! Dd (5) went back to school yesterfday and two of the mums asked me if i was having twins

jabberwocky · 05/09/2006 21:16

Hmmm, I have a 3 year old too. I'll have to check this out when I get home

lucy5 · 05/09/2006 21:20

I haven't bought one thing yet!

spinamum · 05/09/2006 21:35

fabric on ebay.(mmmmmmmmm spina scurries away to have a look!)

I shouldn't be buying anything as we have everything already, but I'm a shopping addict and I am putting off actually buying any mat clothes until weather changes PROPERLY and/or I really run out of stuff to wear.

jabberwocky · 05/09/2006 21:37

Yep, fabric! We did the nursery for ds in a cowboy theme and I wanted to reuse as much as possible. Since we are remodeling I wanted to keep the valance but need new curtains. Found the exact same fabric (yea!). Adorable Michael Miller vintage cowboy/cowgirl print.

accessorizequeen · 05/09/2006 21:39

bubblylion, thanks for your post. I think I'm letting things get out of perspective. I'm just so angry and frustrated as very little of the delay is down to me, and it's changed what would have been a fairly relaxed last couple of months at work into a stress minefield. Days like this I'm really glad I only work p/t cos tomorrow I can just chill with ds, do some baking, pop to the library, that kind of thing. Lost my rag tonight with him & dp as they were both just being really annoying & making me hang round waiting but clearly I'm stressed out & that's doing bean no good at all. He kicks me in a totally diff. way when I'm stressed or angry. Well, it feels diff. to me!
LOL at all of us fighting over ebay items, spina you must win something tonight it's so addictive. But, surely you said something about staying off laptop due to neck???? amazingly I haven't bought anything for the baby, we have it all anyway really. Haven't sorted thru the old stuff anyway, but plan to shortly as there are some 2nd hand nct sales coming up near me (highly recommended if you've not been!) so I can pick up stuff if needed.

spinamum · 05/09/2006 21:40

(message two)

also got the "is it twins?" question yesterday.(for the millioneth time) Any one got any amusing retorts to stop me biting someones head off.
My current "one baby ,lots of cake" is wearing thin.
With DS1, I just said I was giving him plenty of room to swin around in. I've even taken to saying very dead pan that "I'm just a whopper when I'm pg" while I label up their medication.

jabberwocky · 05/09/2006 21:42

I am definitely all over going to consignment shops We borrowed a swing last time so I need one of those. Also, I loaned out my bouncy seats and apparently they didn't make it through, so need that as well.

jabberwocky · 05/09/2006 21:43

spinamum, I would be tempted to do the "No, I'm just fat" also in deadpan

AQ, so sorry you're under all this stress. I was like this when pg with ds and it's really awful.

spinamum · 05/09/2006 21:44

You're right AQ, but I promise I'm sitting up very straight and am doing my stretches(sp????)every few minutes.

Honest

off to check if I'm the proud owner of a grobag.

spinamum · 05/09/2006 21:46

didn't want it anyway,she huffs.

weirdbird · 05/09/2006 21:46

Havnt bought any baby things yet, but have been having a spending spree in general really must stop, not anything exciting just things that we had been meaning to purchase for a while, like a new ironing board..

The exciting life I lead!

Sorry if I moaned rather a lot earlier, it was worrying me rather earlier on

DD has home visit from her teacher tomorrow before starting on Thursday, house is a tip and we are still in major renovations, and cause of my enforced bed rest for most of the last 6 weeks am only just starting to tackle it all and Dh was too busy looking after me and DD to do any DIY over most the summer, so we are really behind! eeek

Ohhh well the porch and hallway look ok, first impressions and all that...
