Brilliant website Wierdbird - between you and LouLou, my credit card is going to be sizzling! Your tops look fab. I want some new ones too

Oooh yummy choc fountains - would it be rude to have chocolate for breakfast do you think?

I have hot & cold water!

Loulou000 · 01/09/2006 10:08

Trekked to Mothercare last night to stock up on long tops, after checking opening hours on their web site. They were supposed to be open til 8 and they shut at 6. So frustrating! Bs.

Don't panic about the drinking, spina. I don't think there's evidence that the odd drink does any harm. I've hardly had any, but have had a couple of glasses of wine in the last month, and am trying not to feel guilty!

Get this. My company lays on free breakfast on the first friday of the month. This morning there was a ... CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN. I didn't even have any! Bit early for me. ;)

Elibean · 01/09/2006 13:21

Blimey, what is it with these chocolate fountains? Do you realize I've just had to eat six - SIX - squares of G&B's milk chocolate in order to cope with hearing about them?!

I can't remember who was asking about big maternity pants, but...I'm mostly in non-maternity under the bump ones, but have bought two maternity big ones from Mothercare. They have a high up bit that supports the bump - and I have to say, in my case, they really do. Rather like them for when the weather is colder, and do feel as though the bump feels lighter with them on.....or maybe thats the chocolate thats being supported..

Calmriver · 01/09/2006 13:32

Now I want chocolate.

Bit of advice please.?

I have never had thrush or anything like that, but my doctor has given me some some canestan cream and a pesturie to insert. I am really scared of putting anything in there.

He said it''s really common for pregnant woman to get thrush numerous times when they are pregnant, and that pesturies are totally safe.

What a thought...

anyone had these??

You think six squares of chocolate is a lot? This could explain why I've just been buying mothercare tops in a size 18.

Calmriver · 01/09/2006 14:33

Well, it was easier than I thought!!!

I know nothing can get to the baby, but it's just the thought. Off for a sleep now.

Hope you guys aren't all grossed out by me

Loulou000 · 01/09/2006 14:36

Glad it was ok calmriver - am not grossed out at all, just didn't have any experience to offer.

Morningnewspaper · 01/09/2006 14:38

6 squares of chocolate is nothing!! Also - I've been having 2 glasses of wine on each friday and Saturday nights and every night when we were on holiday for 10 days. All my sources round here say its fine .

I had thrush a couple of week ago and the Dr suggested 200mg canestan pessaries + cream (1 every night for 3 nights). The pharmacist recommended putting it up about 3/4 of the way up just to be on the safe side - so as not to ram the mucous plug I think. I've had no problems since if that's any help

Elibean · 01/09/2006 14:46

O I knew there was a reason I liked it around here dh is the sort who can make a square last all evening, and he has days when he doesnt' eat ANY Now I can eat the whole bar and tell dh I'm the normal one....

Calm, sorry you have thrush to deal with (ouch, or itch, neither nice) but well dealt with anyway. I agree, its very common in pregnancy and fine to use pessaries.

castlesintheair · 01/09/2006 15:14

Calmriver, I had thrush (never had it before or since either) when preggers with DS1. The reason I found out was because at 34 weeks I went into "false" labour and had to stay in hospital. Apparently thrush can cause premature labour, as it nearly did with me, so best to get it treated. I was given pessaries/canestan etc to take by the No.1 NHS Obstetrician in London (at that time) so sure it must be ok. Ahhh, the many joys of being pg

I was being so good and then I stumbled across these large white chocolate cookies and they just fell into my trolley this morning - probably DS - and now I have the most horrendous indigestion. Worth it though at the time

Also, whoever was asking about drinking (sorry can't remember, have bad PG brain) I was told by my GP during my last PG it's ok to have 3/4 units a week. Was quite surprised by this. I was also encouraged by midwife when hit the 12 week mark with 1st PG to drink Guinness/Red wine.

Devongirl · 01/09/2006 15:49

I love you guys - was a bit worried about the whole discharge situation but not any more!

I bought some jeans yesterday from dottyPs which are nice but had a total hysterical laughter session at a top i tried on which made my (already hefty) breasts look like extra large footballs, and my bump look like a big beach ball. Aghgh! Tried on another top straight afterwards which was fine so I bought it, so it obviously wasn't me being too fat!!!!! How do these designers make their money designing rubbish like that??? It was very funny though, and I had a few women in stitches in the changing room!

x

Loulou000 · 01/09/2006 16:38

Hurrah, I'm SO going to have a glass of red wine tonight!

spinamum · 01/09/2006 18:50

Pharmacist brain switched on: pessaries are fine and no risk to bubs at all. Slight bewilderment at p'cist saying 3/4 way in(sort of thing I'd have come up pre pg experience!)there's no way you'll knock anything out with a pessary applicator.

Pg brain back on main beam:What's the story with the chocie fountains and why I am not stumbling across them?

Having said that i'm not going short of chocolate around here. It's the only thing we never run out off. bread, milk, butter, etc all seem to get forgotton, but I've always got at least two full bars of chocolate on stand by for emergencies.
I obviously didn't feel too much guilt re wine last night because I went out with a friend for her birthday and had a wine spritzer AND a cup of (yummy v.strong) coffee.(all those toxins-yipee!)
Gonig to get a curry delivered in a bit. Hope it won't dilute its effects at 37 weeks when I start eating them for medicinal purposes!!

jabberwocky · 01/09/2006 19:49

I'm so glad you guys were talking about discharge the other day (weird thing to say, isn't it?) because last night I was having quite a few braxton hicks and possibly leaking a little urine Had a bit of a freakout for an hour or so.

Elibean · 01/09/2006 20:28

Spinamum, how on earth do you manage to keep two bars of chocolate on standby, as opposed to in stomach? Secret please...

Never really had any BH with dd, that I noticed, till the very end (and then no pain at all) and none so far this time either....I'm sorry its felt scary/unpleasant, Jabberwocky, and I hope they've stopped now. Should I be getting them? Is my uterus giving up the idea of labour before its even started?

More imminent concern: I am getting increasing bouts of restless legs and/or bump/boob itchiness in the evenings. Its worse when I'm overtired or stressed, and I think its worse after chocolate - damn it. Anyone else, maybe??

magnolia1 · 01/09/2006 20:40

Braxton Hicks are here with a vengence for me Sometimes quite uncomfy and coz I have a history of prem labour and placenta previa I panic everytime in case its the real thing.

I am 24 weeks to day so officially viable!!! I know its crazy but I had real panic in case I went into prem labour and the hospital wouldn't do anything until 24 weeks. So am now relaxing a little

I am not a choccie lover but all of a sudden I want coffee normally hate the stuff.

weirdbird · 01/09/2006 22:21

Elibean I also keep chocolate on emergency standby and hidden from my DH who can't not eat the stuff if he knows where it is!

So Spinamum you are not alone!

Oh and my secret.....

I worked for Birthdays with a Thorntons dept. and one Xmas 4 whole trays of Viennese Truffles that were waiting to be bagged up where going to go past the date for going onto shop floor over the Xmas break.

No one else wanted them....

4 large carrier bags of Viennese truffles, I did get about half way through them all before I didnt eat another chocolate for about 2 years

weirdbird · 01/09/2006 22:26

MY CLOTHES ARRIVED TODAY!!

I LOVE FUNMUM.COM

They are soooo nice, after I put on the green top with my maternity jeans I felt so nice I went and put my makeup on as well, which I just havn't bothered with over the last few weeks

I felt sooooo good

The few bits I ordered from Next Maternity also arrived and bar one item are all going back, the quality was so bad, and so was the fit.

Hubby said that it was well worth the money for the smile on my face when he got home from work.
Awwww

jabberwocky · 01/09/2006 23:52

Elibean, I don't think I had BH at all with ds, so I wouldn't worry. Actually, you're quite lucky imo

As far as restless legs, yes, me too! It drives me nuts. Not sure if there's a choc connection. God, I hope not...

Elibean · 02/09/2006 09:48

Urgh, Weirdbird, you just put me off my breakfat with the truffle story - thanks though, I get it now

Bet you look gorgeous, and glad you're enjoying tops.

Jabberwocky, have you tried the tonic water remedy for the legs?? Keep meaning to....thanks for reassurance re bx!

Oooo we had a late start this morning, dd woke up at 9am and so did we...love the mornings after no-nap days...

spinamum · 02/09/2006 10:44

Two bars on stand by PLUS the one I'm eating, of course!!!!

jabberwocky · 02/09/2006 11:19

Got my new pants from Mimi Maternity and they're already too small But, I'm hanging onto them for afterwards. Everything else seems to fit fine.

You've all got me craving chocolate now. Does anyone do hot chocolate with milk and a melted choc bar? Takes just a couple of minutes in the microwave. yummmm...

Elibean · 02/09/2006 14:43

Oh no, here we go again.....JW, that sounds great. Only one has to sacrifice a chocolate bar for it, so unlikely to happen in my house

Spinamum, that I get! I came back from M&S with two mint chocolate truffle bars AND a slice of carrot cake, so (for at least a few hours) I now have one truffle bar on standby....

Elibean · 02/09/2006 14:44

Post below refers to the chocolate drink, obviously, not the too-small pants...incidentally, I hadn't even thought of being able to use my recently outgrown maternity trousers on the way down again, thanks for that thought!

jabberwocky · 02/09/2006 15:53

always a silver lining, elibean.
