Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Loulou000 · 31/08/2006 14:27

I eat cold prawns too. And tuna. Is that really bad? I used to eat tuna almost daily and limit it to every few weeks now though.

I still feel a bit superstitious about buying stuff. Or maybe it's that I don't actually have a baby room to put it in.

Morningnewspaper · 31/08/2006 14:37

They only no to cold seafood because of the risk of salmonella. It's the same reason for not eating brie etc, which i have done because I LOVE IT! Tinned tuna is not nearly so full of mercury as 'real' tuna, so they say that's fine if you limit it to a couple of times a week I think it is.

Ooooh yes please to buggy advice! DH has his heart set on a bugaboo but I'm not convinced.

I have just had the oddest 'conversations' with the builders - using actions, they have just managed to convey to me that there's only enough water in the loo for one flush!
I must away - I am unable to bite on my fractured tooth repair, so am just off for another filing.....

softymom · 31/08/2006 15:55

Very interesting chat about maternity trousers. Might try that stretchy thing, if I can bear it. I had dd in Feb and my bump got really cold in the winter, with these accursed H&M trousers falling down all the time. And they still fell down, even when my bump was huge ! Added to that I bought a lovely part wool cardie which covered my bump, but itched like crazy against my bare skin.

AQ: would love to know where you got the shirt you were wearing when the guy nearly crashed his Audi!

MNP: go to a shop and try to lift a Bugaboo, then think about how many stairs you would have to navigate in your daily rounds. I think they weigh about 14kg .

Haven't really bought anything yet. 20 week scan showed we are probably having a boy . Looked at dd's old babygros on the weekend and thought, are they really too girly? Does it really matter at less than 6 months? I can see the poor mite is going to be toted around in bright pink hats because I haven't got my big pregnant backside into gear.

Know what you mean about feeling really full all the time... but at the same time SOOO HUNGRY (face stuffing emoticon - or should we have a B & J emoticon?)

accessorizequeen · 31/08/2006 15:58

Tuna etc is fine, but only 1-2 times a week coz of mercury levels. Other oily fish ok that I know of, but then I don't eat it!
MNP, wondering how on earth 'one flush' is conveyed in sign language & hope I never get the builders in whilst pg. Re: bugaboo, that was pushchair no.4 (just traded it in for mountain buggy), there are some v.long threads about bug, I'll find them for you. What suits you will completely depends on ur lifestyle. I do think the reviews on mumsnet are pretty spot on for starters. Course you might not trust my advice given I've got it wrong several times
loulou, I think I felt the same first time round, didn't want to buy anything for fear of jinxing it all and went mad on my maternity leave (didn't have a baby room for quite some time either). Quite nice to plan it all tho!

accessorizequeen · 31/08/2006 16:03

softy, h&m shirt, I think a few buttons might have been undone (accidentally).
Bug's not that heavy (lighter than most 3 wheelers) it's just you have to divide into 2 to carry it or put it in the car & it's a PITA to fold. See mine & Amazonian Woman's ongoing discussion in Products if you want to be bored witless

Elibean · 31/08/2006 16:32

Mouth full of mini jaffa cakes (soooo low fat, dontcha know, ha) lucky I'm typing not talking: can definitely relate to full/hungry now! I can't believe I have another 12-14 weeks to go, how huge is this bump going to get?!

I like the look of under bump trousers, just wish they'd stay up....last time, I had one pair of over bump ones that I wore constantly. They were great, thinnish material so didn't show up high and kept my tummy warm till dd was born just before Xmas. Now they make the same pair, but under - and I'm constantly hitching them up: braces, do you think??

MN, used to work in BSL, came in very handy with non English speakers from time to time - would love to have seen you flush in sign

Softy, congrats on your (probable) ds - did you just have the scan? I would'nt worry too much on the clothes thing, dressed dd in loads of pale blue as got so sick of pink, and people were always peering at her and saying 'what a nice looking boy'

Elibean · 31/08/2006 16:35

Aaah, also....bought the Bugaboo Gecko a couple of weeks ago (to be delivered nearer due date) and my main reason for buying it was that it weighs about 8kgs. I had bad backache for a year after dd was born, so wanted a light one - and also found it very manoevreable (sp?!?) in small spaces. But...yes, its a bit of a steep learning curve to learn to fold it, and the underneath basket thingy is hopeless. Light won the day, though. That and I like green

Morningnewspaper · 31/08/2006 16:38

That's what I'm worried about with the bugaboo - I want a 'one piece' that is light and folds with a sleight of hand - not some enorm thing that will bring me out in a sweat and leave a trail of bits behind me. DH is completely won over by the spinnability of it and can't see anything else. We will also have to keep it in a shared hallway - so I really think it isn't 'on' to have a buggy that is up all the time.

Just got back from dentist to find builders blow torching my new boiler in to place . Still no water

magnolia1 · 31/08/2006 16:40

I can't wear over the bump trousers coz they go up my fanjo Hows that for TMI

Discharge a problem here too

Have been looking a travel systems coz we haven't kept anything this time so I am thinking the Pliko p3 with nevada carry cot too as I want something the baby can lay in downstairs but more enclosed than a bouncy chair at first coz we have 2 dogs and I Just know maisie will think babies head is a lolly pop

Morningnewspaper · 31/08/2006 16:40

But my mouth is deliciously full of haribous

accessorizequeen · 31/08/2006 16:47

Actually the shopping basket isn't bad on the bug (I have a frog, but assuming they're the same), you can fit a surprising amount in & great when it's raining. I am selling mine (aubergine, unnused carrycot, in case in I can interest anyone....).

magnolia1 · 31/08/2006 16:55

Ok now I know this sounds bizzare but I am going to do a nude photo shoot for a glossy mag
Its Demi Moore style like she did on the front of vanity fair
The shoot is next Friday, Dh thinks I'm mad and has reminded me to trim my lady garden

castlesintheair · 31/08/2006 17:00

Wow! Magnolia! Details pur-lease? Are you famous or just drop-dead-gorgeous and stopped in the street, or both??!!

magnolia1 · 31/08/2006 17:04

It was the media request on here Go have a look its not to late to do it!!!!!

They want pg mums for First Magazine but its tastefully nude lol

Morningnewspaper · 31/08/2006 17:43

Magnolia - is that with Morag??? I nearly did it but DH threw a fit so i gracefully (or not as the case may be) backed out. It sounds great fun!!

magnolia1 · 31/08/2006 18:11

Yep thats the one

spinamum · 31/08/2006 21:56

Magnolia, you go girl. Wow. That's brill!

(Sorry TMI to follow) Re: discharge. I went to the hospital soooooo many times in pg1 cos I thought my waters had gone that by the time THE time came, my DH didn't bother to rush to hospital in case it was another falsie! He went into a meeting and joined me a few hours later!!! the most embarassing time was the first time it happened. I left work having told my (Male,no kids) boss that I thought my waters had gone and then had to return saying"nope, they haven't". You could see him working that one out in his head and I really wanted to explain I hadn't peed myself, but that really would have been TMI.

[my DH has just brought me a glass of wine in one of my son's plastic beakers cos I keep breaking glasses. I sent him back to kitchen cos if I'm going to expose our child to unnecessary toxins once in a while, I want to do it in proper glasswear!)

spinamum · 31/08/2006 22:02

I went on Media to suss out the magazine feature and I noticed the drinking in pg link. Now I'm not sure about the wine!

I've hardly had any all pg and I'll sip slowly.

weirdbird · 31/08/2006 22:42

Elibean · 31/08/2006 22:51

Oooo Magnolia, good for you - hope its fun, and the room is warm

AQ, good to hear that re basket - not sure they are the same, 'cos the Gecko is really small compared to the Chameleon or Frog, but hopefully will be more useful than I imagined.
Its not a huge buggy by any means, its quite small - which is just what I need - but some of the Bugs are.

MN, haribous v. no cold water, haribous win (as long as its not the pink and white bottles one). But do hope your H2O gets sorted soon as well..

I made a big mistake tonight, dh talked me into a takeaway curry. I didn't eat much, and it was mild, but UGH now

Elibean · 31/08/2006 22:52

Spinamum, lol at discharge story...timely, just started to get increase here, and waters did cross my mind today: no longer

Calmriver · 31/08/2006 23:03

DH just had a members night at the gym and I went along with DD. They had a chocolate fountain!...yes, you heard right!...it was fab!

They had mallows, strawbs and bananas on sticks that you dip into the fountain, and you could have as much as you like! WOW! Dark and milk choc....

AMAZING!!!

OP posts:
Indith · 31/08/2006 23:15

mmmmmmm I love choc fountains! At my last uni ball they had a choc one and a coulis one! It was fabulous. Marshmallows get a little too sickly after a while but I could sit and eat the strawberries for ever!

If dp ever gets round to making an honest woman of me............

accessorizequeen · 01/09/2006 07:39

OMG, yes, completely forgot to report the ginormous choc fountain at last weekend's wedding! I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame (several times over). If we ever get married (engaged over 6 yrs!) we're having one too!
Elibean, shopping handles for bug also well worth £10, they're extremely useful.

Elibean · 01/09/2006 08:34

Glad I didn't read about the chocolate fountains before going to bed last night, would have been dreaming/craving all night

AQ, I didn't even know they made them - thanks, thats really useful!

Hey Weirdbird, hope your clothes come today - it does feel great when you find something that feels like you. Especially good when you are having to be careful all the time like you are, I bet. Great colours
