Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

OP posts:

Elibean, you sound just like me, active 2.8 year old, streaming cold - staying home sounds like the best thing for you. Pity I just volunteered us to go to the in-laws for half the weekend. Hmmmm. Phaps I can sneak in the study and do some mumsnetting....
Maternity shop I went to recently had some small cushions that added '3 months' to your size, quite useful to see if things wld fit (many of them wouldn't!). And I can't stand under-bump either, witness yesterday's tirade against H&M underbump, don't remember them being comfortable last time once I got a proper...bump. What about knickers, though, I bought one pair of maternity ones last time, are there any comfy ones as I'm a bit sick of mine dropping under-bump, it's just annoying.

castlesintheair · 31/08/2006 09:29

Spinamum, you are not alone. I spent y'day with a pal who is due in 3 weeks & I am as big as her!!
Also a member of the enormous norks club, AQ, have already grown out of maternity bras I bought a month ago Not sure what's going on with the world as I was embarrassingly oggled by a bunch of builders the other day when quite frankly I look like a bag of s!

Loulou000 · 31/08/2006 10:07

I have been in maternity clothes forever and hate them all already. With notable exception of these jeans , which seem to fit really nicely, the only trouble being finding tops that are long enough to hide the belly, as they are under-bump. Did you say you needed jeans, AQ? You could try them. I seem to recall you are a curvaceous lady and so am I.

I know what you mean, spina. I really resent buying another season's worth of huge clothes. But can't really see how to get around it, apart from just buying cheap and looking horrid, which is what I am doing.

My new trousers, which were nice when I tried them on, fall down if I walk anywhere so the crotch approaches my knees. I hope they stay up when bump is a bit bigger.

Poor MN. Hope the shower is fixed soon. Ours is broken and only does scalding hot. We should combine somehow.

Loulou000 · 31/08/2006 10:08

Oh, forget the jeans if you don't like under-bump, AQ!

Calmriver · 31/08/2006 10:27

I never believe the stories about how you carry.

With DD1 I was tiny with a bump only on the front, hardly any difference to boobs etc, this time also a girl, and the same thing-small with bump on the front. Still a size 8 now.
I have been told with both that I am carrying 'like a boy'....please!!!!!!

I don't like over the bump stuff!!! Makes me feel like I'm squashing baba.

jabberwocky · 31/08/2006 11:29

Wow, this thread has gotten really active! I tend to go for under the bump myself. Over the bump makes me feel like one of those old men who wear their belt about lower chest region

As far as looking 9 months pg, have been bracing myself for those "you must be due any day now" comments. It seems like I've gotten absolutely huge over the last week or so.

beepbeep · 31/08/2006 12:05

Also seem to have ballooned last few weeks, getting asked all the time if I'm still at work - only 2 and a half months to go and counting mind!!

Also found that all the tops I bought early on in preg (and were huge at time) are now too small and leaving a huge gap between them and trousers - attractive!!

Morningnewspaper · 31/08/2006 12:08

Jabberwocky - I completely agree - I prefer under bump for the same reasons - I usually wear hipster stuff anyway, so feel much more like me with the lower slung trouser . how many weeks are you? My bump suddenly seems to have grown too.

Calmriver - I've decided that you just defy science

LouLou - just had a look at those jeans and they look really comfy - I may have to buy them!

We don't have an oven/hob either because they've turned the gas off

Calmriver · 31/08/2006 12:40

My bump has had a grow too. Do you guys also feel really full ALL the time!???

I have to eat such small amounts or I can barely stand up.

Feel like I need a huge poo!...sorry.

accessorizequeen · 31/08/2006 12:43

I'm just remembering now that when I got really huge I wanted over-bump trousers to a) keep belly warm & b) hold belly up! Tempted by one of those belly vests they sell too, anyone bought one? I also have some fold-over trousers from m/care & they keep falling down as bump not big enough tho v.comfy otherwise & far less irritating than H&M under-bumps which I may take scissors too this evening.
Have found m/care tops to be very generous & long too, lots on ebay, just bought one last night (as well as pair of crocs, yay).
My argument is that in this pg period I would have bought some clothes for myself anyway, and can sell a lot of them on ebay afterwards. Plus I just don't want to look sh&&.
Check up this morning, bump measuring 2 weeks ahead just like ds1 did (he was 9lbs).

castlesintheair · 31/08/2006 13:13

Calmriver, yes I feel full all the time, in fact, I had a little vom this morning when I bent over to pick something up (sorry if TMI).

castlesintheair · 31/08/2006 13:14

What are the rules about eating lobster when pg? Is it allowed and if not can anyone remember why?

Loulou000 · 31/08/2006 13:27

I feel alternately starving and full to bursting!

Ooo, want to go to mothercare and buy basket full of long t-shirts if they are really long! The too-short-top thing is the bane of my life at the moment.

Loulou000 · 31/08/2006 13:33

I think it's ok to eat lobster as long as it is properly cooked. I have been eating seafood until it comes out of my ears. Every now and then someone will comment and I scurry off to look it up again and still don't find any reason not to. I could be wrong though.

Calmriver · 31/08/2006 13:39

Castle, DD woke me up with throwing up all over my bed this morning, so no worries!x

I have another scan on Monday at 10, another where they say, Oh, baby is measuring small and come back again I suppose.DD1 was exactly the same, so if they actually KEPT my notes or LOOKED, they would see nothing to worry about.

I should be a midwife

OP posts:
castlesintheair · 31/08/2006 13:40

That's good new 'cos I ate half of a HUGE one at the w/e . People say you aren't meant to eat seafood (I'm gussling it too LL) but not sure why or if it's true. Hmmmm.

Morningnewspaper · 31/08/2006 13:41

I think lobster is fine - it's just raw or cold seafood that's the problem and also those big fishies like tuna and shark that have a high mercury content. How lovely to be eating lobster!!

YES! I too keep being 'sick in my mouth' when I bend over. I have no appetite at all but eat because I know I should and then once I've started, I can't stop. I'm also having dreams of blackberry and apple crumble....

When is it 'safe' to go out and buy things like buggies etc??

Morningnewspaper · 31/08/2006 13:44

oooooh great excitement - the builders have actually unpacked the boiler from its box. As tey are Polish and we can't understand each other, I threw myself upon it to let them know how pleased I am that it may be in today.

castlesintheair · 31/08/2006 13:47

MN, Yes! I don't have an appetite either & just seem to be eating c*** like chocolate & cakes (soon to be icecream with all this talk of Ben & Jerries). My DCs are in heaven at the moment!
We bought stuff like buggies for DS about this time so I'm sure it's ok. We are into our 3rd trimester now aren't we??

Calmriver · 31/08/2006 13:47

Morning newspaper- safe? what do you mean?

We bought stuff for DD1 from when I was 3 months.

Another exciting topic-

DISCHARGE

I got it a lot with DD1 and now it's back with DD2, I have never had my waters break on me, but sometimes its very convincing!!!!

OP posts:
Morningnewspaper · 31/08/2006 13:52

oh god - please don't get me started on the topic of discharge. What's going on with our bodies? It's dreadful!!!

Oh good - so I'm not being completely mad and OTT for wanting to go out and buy absolutely everything - now. We painted the 'baby room' at the w/e and just need to get it carpeted. There's a bit of an issue with the floor - damp patches coming up through concrete - yes I know - it's not good! I am hoping I can get the builders to cast their eye and suggest something to solve it.

castlesintheair · 31/08/2006 13:53

Oooh yes, I meant to ask about discharge. I wondered if it was leaking amniotic fluid (mild panic) 'cos I haven't had waters break either.

I know I'm starting to sound really mad but I'm on a roll here

Morningnewspaper · 31/08/2006 13:57

Perhaps all the sugar and junk food has gone to our heads .

I am on the assumption that it's not leaking amniotic fluid as mine is a whitish colour (sorry!). Also if it was, it would speed up while you were lying down rather than being upright (baby's head would plug it wouldn't it?). oh I don't know - I just make it up as I go along

accessorizequeen · 31/08/2006 14:22

TMI at discharge & vomiting! AT work where I should be concentrating on exciting web design, but no I'm on here reading about discharge
24 weeks is viable, mnp, when a lot of people feel they've passed another milestone so maybe time to buy the buggy! I have just bought my 5th if you need advice. LOL at polish builders all over your house btw.
